[Asche]

"The technique is one i learned back home on Kalin, if you can call it home." Asche watched as Demo expertly removed the bullet and started to magically heal the wound. Asche noticed how much the girl had bled for the first time, he was covered from the chest down in her blood.

"I'll clean up the blood shall I? I don't quite like the feeling between my toes." He grabbed a bucket of water and some rags and began to clean the floor.

[Demo]

Demo finished healing the girl as Asche cleaned up the mess of blood. "It seems like shes out cold. Thank you though. You didn't have to do that." Demo smiled and then thought out loud. "Wait between your toes?" Demo looks down to see the man is wearing no shoes at all. "May I ask why your barefoot?"

[Asche]

Asche squeezed out the rag into the bucket. "While my Yutri talents are quite useful, there are limitations. Clothing is one of said limitations. The clothes I am wearing are magical, they change size and appearance to what I will them too. They even clean themselves." Asche sighed audibly, "I cannot afford magical shoes and regular ones would be ruined or lost. It is amazing that someone like me can even afford the clothes I have."

[Demo]

Demo set down his materials in an orderly fashion. "Very interesting but if you would like to continue this conversation would you like to be someplace more comfortable?" Demo said with a smile getting up and offering a hand up to Asche even though he probably didn't need it.

[Asche]

Asche shot Demo a quizzical look but took his hand anyway. "Why would here not be appropriate? We are all friends here."

[Demo]

Demo smiled and laughed a little. "I meant a space where we can talk without disturbing the sleeping patients." He smiled and pointed to an area a little bit away where a blanket sat on the ground. "Over there perhaps?"

[Asche]

"That is acceptable." Asche quickly cleaned the blood off his feet and followed Demo to the blanketed space. After they settled he asked the healer politely, "actually I wished to ask you a question. Why did you decide to leave Richard with a shade rather than keep him with you? Wouldn't he be safer in your care?"

[Demo]

Demo sat down on the blanket next to Asche. The question he asked caused Demo's smile to fade. "I didn't want him around all this." He said motioning to the sick people in the tent. "He's not a fighter and I don't want him to see all the death. Also I can't keep a constant watch over him. I barely can keep up with the patients as it is. Let alone fighting in this blasted war."

[Asche]

Asche saw Demo was not comfortable with his question.

"I am sorry I did not wish to cause you discomfort but I am faced with a similar question myself. When Celto was hurt the other day my immediate thought was to send him away from here." He took Celto out of his hair and placed him on his lap, "I worry that he will miss me and not take food. I rescued him from other animals on Kalin and nursed him back to health, I took him to the Altu'ui to release him in their fields but he refused to leave me. I have said this before. I am sorry to bore you with my problems but I thought you might understand my dilemma as you too share a love for companions."

[Demo]

Demo's smile returned at Asche's story. "I raised mine from an egg that I discovered within ruins of an Ascent building. He has never been away from me this long but I know he understands. It pains me but in my situation it was my only choice. With you... I have no clue but I believe it is the companion's decision. If he agrees with you then it is the right decision. Forcing them to do anything is foolish." He said speaking sincerly. "You don't bore me, I am infact enjoying myself."

[Asche]

Asche saw Demo's smile return but was then thrown by his last statement, "does that mean... that you see me as a friend?"

[Demo]

Demo laughed at the statement thinking the man was joking. Though stopping when he realize he wasn't. "Well I wouldn't call you a stranger or an aquaintence so yes friend is the correct title."

[Asche]

Asche went blue in the face. "I have never had a friend besides Celto, unless my sister counts. I do not know what I am supposed to do but I promise to be a good friend."

Celto ran from Asche's lap and settled down on Demo.

"I guess Celto approves of our friendship then."

For the first time ever, Asche laughed. It was a good long genuine laugh.

[Demo]

"So he does." Demo laughed petting the tiny dragon in his lap. "He could be Richard's twin. They look so similiar. And I look forward to it. Friends are stronger than any shield and sharper than any blade."

[Asche]

Asche thanked Demo for his hospitality and got up to leave, he had wasted enough time in the medics tent today. It was time to get back to work.
