i'm pretty sure 39 just straight up isn't old yet, nothing to do with scale of time and everything to do with people living longer, fewer early life milestones being pushed, etc. but i've always seen 40 as the #1 place to be in life, so what do i know.

well, given that, if you've got good genes, you can live into your hundreds, then fifty is definitely middle-aged.
