And it is true, sadly. Simply looking between crochet and knitted works it is easily visible that knitting provides a wider berth in which to customize one's work and add both texture as well as a pattern to the work. Which isn't to say I have not seen patterns added to crochet, I just find them harder and see much less ways to do so than with knitting. I still prefer my crochet though, and if you get a small enough hook you can become very intricate; I received a lace needle from my grandmother rather recently and I am excited to learn to make doilies and just make super cute little pieces~
