Trisphee Coding Contest!

Welcome, welcome.

As we brainstormed contests for this event, we realized that we wanted to have a few different contests. We realized that very few events had ever had a coding contest, so we thought we'd give those who have some coding experience a chance to win some prizes. All you need to do is:

Find out what the code outputs at the end. When you think you have the answer, please send me a PM. When people solve this first one, more codes can be released!

As for prizes, those who answer correctly will receive:
  • 1st Place - 40 Runes, 7,000 Aurum
  • 2nd Place - 20 Runes, 5,000 Aurum
  • 3rd Place - 3,000 Aurum

Good luck to everyone who enter this contest. :]

-confuzzled but completely determined- I think Funkduder might have a better chance than me, though.

My bf is trying to explain this language to me....

I totally fail... hard >.<''

GOOD LUCK Y'ALL

Coda 04-16-2011 12:43 PM

Don't let the fact that it's code scare you off! And if you don't know PHP, don't be afraid of that either! All this takes is problem solving, patience, and the ability to follow instructions.

If you have questions about anything -- about what various bits of syntax do, for instance -- please ask.

@___@ I just attempted this... My result makes not much sense. Is the output supposed to be clever or just...output

-=It's alright, I'm allergic to you...=-

It's code, so I don't think it's supposed to be clever. If you PM me your answer, I can tell you if you're right or at least on the right track. *nods*

Coda 04-17-2011 07:04 PM

It's just output. It doesn't actually mean anything. It's supposed to be hard to guess without actually following what it's trying to do. :P

Duchess 04-17-2011 07:15 PM

Yeh.. I sent it in and it turned out to be right! Go me!

Seems like all languages are similar in some way

Coda 04-17-2011 07:36 PM

They really are! Once you've gotten good at one programming language you can usually pick up others pretty easily.

Sage 04-17-2011 07:46 PM

I'm working on this! Hopefully I'm not too far off track.

Serra Britt 04-17-2011 09:50 PM

I look and look and I'm just totally lost >< It's sad because it's not like I've never used programming languages before...I just don't think I understand the variables at all :/

Coda 04-17-2011 09:57 PM

Well, I intentionally used one-letter variable names just to obscure the meaning of the code.

I AM pulling a nasty trick with the string indexing. (That's what the $x[y] syntax is -- the y'th character in the string $x.)

Duchess 04-17-2011 10:03 PM

I AGREE! That was nasty >_>

I thought I was doing something wrong at that part.....

Espy 04-18-2011 12:44 PM

-annoyed at the "$"- I'm...working on it...
Not even completely sure what language this is in...
