Star Wars Episode 7

Foreshame, no one else listed this.

I'm seeing it tonight! So much hype! My only expectations, be better then the recent trilogy.

Tohopekaliga 12-17-2015 02:53 PM

I'm going to go see it tomorrow...Tickets to it are a birthday gift to me. :D

I feel like Disney, when they want to, can do an excellent job with movies, so I have high hopes for this one.

Illusion 12-17-2015 05:15 PM

To me Disney are just a bunch of nerds who know what their doing.
I have a lot of friends with internships with Disney right now and they can confirm that. XD

I have a lot of faith with Disney and I know JJ Abrams work well so if I'm disapointed in anyway I'm sure I'll still get a laugh out of 3 hours of lens flare.

Tohopekaliga 12-17-2015 06:16 PM

And camera shake! Don't forget the camera shake!

I watched a Making Of video for his first Star Trek, and oh my god, that was hilarious. He had some dude with a hand spotlight waving it around for more lens flare, and he himself was drumming on the camera to make it shake a bit.

I don't have any plans to see it anytime soon. Mainly because I want to know what my super Star Wars fan friends to tell me if it's worth going to see. After the last three movies, I'm a little wary.

Tohopekaliga 12-17-2015 09:28 PM

Well, the last three were controlled by George Lucas. This one is not. :P

Just came back from seeing the film.

The first half was AMAZING. So much better then the prequels. But the 2nd half fucks up but not in the bad way, it takes the key plot points of the 4th and 5th episodes, give them a tweak or to, but it's literally them repeating the same movies over again.

Espy 12-18-2015 04:43 AM

I have surprisingly enough never actually seen any of the films. Scary, huh. I want to watch the first six before checking out Ep 7.

Awen Moonshine 12-18-2015 07:53 AM

Urgh... We probably won't get to see it until well after Christmas is over seeing as we'd have to find someone to take the little one while we go see it... I don't really know what to expect of this one, but so far I've only heard good things. I think I'll be happy with it no matter what but my partner will probably be more critical of it, he is a massive Star Wars fanboy... ^_^;;

Lawtan 12-18-2015 11:43 AM

Yeah...not likely to see this one for a while. *shrugs*

Glad that the first half was good, though you seem to be dwelling on the second half (or are trying not to spoil the first half)

Well... I'm trying to keep away from spoils, so describing the 2nd half is hard.

The first half introduced great characters, had great memorable scenes, and was truly a good start to a new trilogy. The whole second half was nostalgia pandering by doing the same things the other original series did where if you would compare this movie with the old ones the scenes are pretty much the same and your watching the same movie.

The weird thing about this movie though is that everyone is so used to George Lucas being a terrible writer and not understanding how to humanize characters that when you see this movie you feel alienated because all the characters are actually well written for once.

The second half still had it's own memorable scenes that didn't revolve around pandering to the original series. Most notably the final fight with Kylo Ren (The Darth Vader looking guy.) that was briefly shown in the trailers.

The second half still has it's own charm, humor, but the vast majority of it was just going "Oh this happened in episode of the franchise so let's do it again! Oh but with slight differences!"

Anyone hasn't seen any of the original movies or prequels, see this movie first so things come to a surprise. I'm pretty sure that most people know bits of detail about original trilogy's characters and plot and that's enough. At least then you don't have to feel like you already seen the same movie during the second half.

It's still a good B rank movie though. JJ Abrams did an amazing job starting off the new trilogy.

It's called a spoiler tag. My god, if you're going to talk about ANYTHING in the movie, please us a spoiler tag.

EDIT: And throwing my two cents in. Obviously spoilers, do not click if you don't want things shattered for you.

Well I don't want to discuss the movie in a spoiler tag until more time has passed and more people have seen it.

So I will take about things as vague as possible to give people an idea of what it's like.

edit: Oh and you spoiler tag my post even though there was no spoils in it. Everything I mentioned was blatantly in the poster for the film and the in the trailers. (Hell the one thing I think you spoiled that part for was in the poster and something me and my classmates we're discussing weeks before the film came out. It's fair game.)

Well, the offending passages have been fixed
and hit with the appropriate spoiler tags.

The passage was information already given out prior the film which is why I talked about it. It's fair game. I could had talked about it prior to the movie's release as well and wouldn't had been spoiled tagged.

Salone 12-18-2015 02:45 PM

Believe it or not, not everyone does as much research about a film as possible before seeing it. Some people prefer staying completely in the dark up to the point of seeing the movie. I highly encourage you to use spoiler tags when discussing anything involving the characters or the plot.
