Which books would love a first edition of?
You can't say all book!
Pick a couple and let us know! Myself, The Neverending Story and House of Leaves. The originals of both are writing in several printed colors. Neverending Story in green and red. House of Leaves in red, blue and it's suppose to have color illustrations I believe. What about you? |
First Editions of The Warlord of the Air, The Land Leviathan, and The Steel Tsar. Basically everything in the Oswald Bastable series.
Not to mention a first print of Brave New World. |
I've actually gotten to read a lot of first editions in the literature archives at my university. It was pretty overwhelming, but by far the most impressive text was the Chaucer they had: a giant tome with a solid oak cover covered in white leather, the text was printed on gold leaf and lavishly illustrated on every page. It was at least 600 years old, I don't know if it was a first edition or not, but they said it was worth over ten million dollars. @_@
I'd kind of like to have that one. >_> |
....That reminds me, I do have to visit that library/collection at my college sometime. (It's basically underground, and I can see why.) I'm not sure whether the books in there are all first-edition, though. If so, they've got a 1478 copy of the Bible.
I do know for a fact that there's one of the thirteen original copies of the Bill of Rights under high security in the collection. |

I'd like a First Edition of the Hobbit. |
