Bots?

Right now there's four or five people online with names basically like alkjahfa and the two I looked at joined today.. If not bots, it's a bit suspicious.

Natsunaine 03-05-2013 05:40 AM

There is not alot they can do unless they post or show in anyway that they are bots, If you see them post there is a report button on the bottom right of every post in the forums. Just click it and explain that you think you have found a bot.

toxxic 03-05-2013 05:44 AM

Okay, I'll keep an eye out.

Arikana 03-05-2013 05:55 AM

Yeah, our lovely moderators we'll try to get to them all as soon as possible. Best way to help them out is by reporting them. :)

Tiva 03-05-2013 06:04 AM

Unless you are Alpha and report every single one he sees because they bother him so badly.

toxxic 03-05-2013 06:40 AM

Why does the members list say there's 3k members but the bottom of the forum say 7k?

Natsunaine 03-05-2013 06:43 AM

I report every single once myself tiva. haha

Echo-chan713 03-05-2013 09:26 PM

I've caught like 5 bots at one time oTL

littl3chocobo 03-05-2013 10:11 PM

maybe it is having issue with counting bans in the latter?

Ultima 03-05-2013 11:06 PM

I personally have banned up to 400 bot accounts a day. We know it's an issue and we are trying to resolve it in every way we can think of.

But as Arikana said, reporting bots on sight is the best way to be rid of them asap.

toxxic 03-05-2013 11:34 PM

I can't figure out how to report someone unless they post. And maybe they should get a better confirmation instead of just "How is trisphee spelled." A captcha would be a nice way to keep them out.

Ultima 03-05-2013 11:42 PM

Unfortunately, Coda has said that bots are getting very good at deciphering captchas, so they'd be somewhat ineffective...

Edit: But I do agree with you that there should be a report button on a user's profile or something, so that bots (or people with inappropriate names or something) can be reported before they even post.

Espy 03-05-2013 11:46 PM

@Ulty: The report-button-on-profile would be no different from what would happen if we could just ban bots on sight.

Arikana 03-06-2013 12:00 AM

A lot of coding tricks which could potentially be employed to prevent bots are out there, I'm sure. However, we just don't have the resources to get extra coding help. Coda, himself, is busy and therefore is probably unable to spend as much time on Trisphee as the site requires for an issue like this to be fixed. I'm not too sure about Trisphee's financial status, so I've no clue on the likelihood of hiring more coding help to deal with these issues. But even if we were to hire more coders, they are the most expensive position to acquire so it would be difficult to find a good one that Trisphee can afford.

So in the meantime, reporting bots in order to get them banned as soon as possible will likely be the quickest way to deal with them at this moment in time.

toxxic 03-06-2013 04:37 AM

There's a bot on right now posting threads constantly.

Nexess 03-06-2013 07:01 AM

Yes, I know. Please use the report button.
