Diablo 3
 

Looks like this hasn't been talked about for several months so I'm making a new thread for it ^^;

So, anyone here who played it...plans to play it soon? I bought it and played it some today, and while it hasn't been the best experience, it's better than I had hoped. The gameplay is what I expected, point and click, crazy skills, lots of enemies vs ... well ... just me and a few others, which is what I was looking for. Sure it might not be as shiny or in depth as some things but I played Diablo 2 for thousands of hours and this is exactly the kind of update to the game I was hoping for. Something similar while still feeling rather fresh.

Disappointments...it has to be played online so with the current server problems I can't play, but it helps me not be so obsessive too. Well, actually that's my only disappointment. :p I'm quite pleased with the game and happy I didn't spend days looking at it in anticipation, because I may not have enjoyed it this much if I had built up a lot of expectations for it.

Wait, it HAS to be played online? There's no single player option?

Well, I don't want it as much now. Especially if I have to buy it -.-

my brother is playing it... i might try it on his pc and if i like it ill buy it for my laptop once i get a new one... bc my current one is not doing so well on most games now...

I've been playing it with Fen almost nonstop for the last two days. It's not as fun by yourself, but when you have a party going, it's an absolute blast.

I've been playing a monk so far, and while Fen's wizard tends to get cooler toys to play with, I'm practically invincible. :p Though, I did just unlock my Spirit Companion, he's pretty cool. Currently level 22, working my way through act 2 at the moment.

Have any of you played Diablo 2 or lords or destruction expansion pack? I love Diablo III it's awesome I just wish they would have brought back some of the older classes like the necromancer! But I guess the witch Dr has some similar treaties summoning things.

Diablo 2 is one of my favorite games since I was young and Number 3 is just awesome!

@Yokuutsu, There's no monthly fee, you just have to pay the game and the online service is included. They did it because of the rampant hacking that was done in Diablo 2, at least that's what I remember the reason was. Once they iron out all the server issues I'm sure it won't be a problem, and one can always play solo my not letting anyone join their games. I like playing both ways really.

@Zane, you should give it a try, especially if you haven't played a Diablo game before. It's not for everyone but I am an addict to this particular type of game.

Great game. Kinda dumb that it can only be played online, but the game itself at least has the great quality of Blizzard games except for the server stability. Definitely worth playing.

I know they are having issues today and are saying it's not due to the weekly on WoW :3 hehe...

anyway back to what this thread is about, i sorta play? Kano plays way more then i do ^^; I'm more of stuck on WoW again though I am running out of things that I can do by myself hehe...

I've been playing off and on since its release. And personally, I haven't had any problems with the server stability, and have thoroughly enjoyed playing the game.

I'll have to look up my tag for having people add me since I don't have it memorized. Though if you want someone else to add PM me to make sure I remember (notorious for forgetting, especially with how busy I'll be the next two weeks). I'm actually kinda stuck on the last part of the Belial boss fight (I play as a wizard, but contemplating going to Demon Hunter which I played in Open Beta).

We started Hell mode recently. It's, um, a different experience than normal or nightmare. The mooks are no trouble, but champions are flat-out ridiculous -- 300,000+ hp, 4 or 5 special abilities... my favorite is the ones with invincible minions who you can't kill until you kill the main boss. They like to pair it with molten trails too, which are... appropriately Hellish.

So, we're onto grinding now for gold to get better gear. At level 55 now, 4k attack, 4.5k armor, health is way low at 7k though. If I don't get 1-shotted, my monk is pretty much invincible with all his healing and can dish some serious pain once he gets going... I hear monks aren't viable on Inferno at all, though. Which is kind of dismaying.

We usually farm either runs of Azmodan to the first part of act 4, but lately we've been doing...

lol The bf is so in love with that game hes already beat it. First by himself and now hes starting to make parties and play with many other people. I personaly...dont want to play it for the fact that its a computer game...not a fan of computer gamming...

Do you mean he beat normal mode, or got to level 60 and beat Inferno mode? Big difference. :p

Okay, just looked it up. I'm not playing as much right now (and won't be for the vast majority of the remaining summer) but if anyone wants to add me my battle tag is: Alpha#1940

So. Just got to level 60, and apparently you get a nice little present for doing so. Something called Nephalem Valor that is gained by killing champion mobs, granting a stacking +15% bonus to magic find and gold find for a half hour, up to 5 times for a 75% bonus. The clock gets reset every time you kill a blue or a yellow. Pretty awesome all in all, I'm picking up gold piles over 1000 now with it up in act 1 Hell.

Holy crap....I'm still only level 29. Just got into Act 3.

debating on whether or not to get the game... if i do i need to buy a new laptop first anyways...

Eh, it happens Rose. We all do what we can. Just be warned that if you die in hardcore, you die for good.

I'm, um... not going to disclose how many hours a day I've been playing since release. :p

I haven't played as much but the server stability is WAY better now. I don't have to stay in general chat all the time anymore!

I'll never be getting this game then. I want a solo version. Not everyone has internet. And I don't have access all the time (due to my IP being a POS and other things) so this game would be a waste of money for me. So what if people could hack Diablo II. It'll happen to this one too. Except it may mess up the server instead of...oh...having Diablo as every monster in the den or something.

@Yokuutsu, It's alright, I'm not opposed to that opinion at all. I think it's fine that they made this decision as I don't have to have access to the game all the time, I have a lot of other games I'm perfectly content playing.

The bad thing is that I've been looking forward to this game for at least 7 years and they made it a game I'll never get -.- Unless someone else buys it for me. I'm not using my money on something that I can't play when and where I want when I have the system to play it on with me. That's just how I see it. Now, if it was the War Chest...like Diablo II had with Diablo in it and the expansion and all that for 40 dollars...it would be more tempting since I'd feel like I'm not getting cheated as much.

What happens if a tornado hits and my internet is out forever like it was one time? I have a useless game sitting there that I'll probably want to play at that point. Blizzard doesn't think about that or about the fact that maybe they wouldn't be having server problems affecting WoW (which is the only reason they're fixing it) if they had an offline version of Diablo III. Also, that offline version would make it cheaper for them while selling the game for the same amount. And the people who are getting free versions? Well, they aren't going to be using the server if there was an offline version (my friend did have a pirated copy of Diablo II and he couldn't play online)

I love the Diablo series, but any game that forces me to be online at all times isn't the type of game I can easily get into. I'll get it eventually, but they've made it much easier for me to take my time.

Still, heard great times about it. Maybe when I get it the servers will also be better off.

@Yokuutsu, It's not like I don't understand, but for it being a game played online with people (friends only for me, I won't touch public games) I'm content with how it was done. I play several other games that server problems DO get in the way, but that's just how it is and I have to deal with it and move on. If I have no internet, I play an offline game. I'm sorry that they decided to make Diablo 3 an online game but it's their decision. There are a lot of other games I wish I could play offline too when I solo but it's just not to be and getting angry over it won't help me, so I try not to let it bother me too much.

I'm only getting angry because I got so excited about this game...and now I don't want it because they just had to make it online. My internet messes up a lot and I won't be able to deal with being disconnected like that when solo.

Oh well. Their loss.

Fairly similar, though it's all in 3D now instead of 2D, and they played around with flying body parts a bit more. It's not terribly cutting edge graphics but I like the little touches, like when enemies die on a critical hit they die in a much gorier fashion. Along with flying bodies from the explosions and such.

Honestly, the gameplay is comparable. They kept the same overall style while creating a different concept in that each time you log in, the "dungeon" areas won't be 100% the same. Overall layout, similar, but monsters and what "rare" monsters you find are supposedly different. Like Serra said, they played up the 3D quite a bit as well with the deaths of enemies.

I'd rate the game worth getting as long as you don't mind being required to be connected to the internet in order to play. It is frustrating, but it is a good game overall.

I like the random side quests a lot, it reminds me of what was done with the quests in Diablo 1. Like sometimes you do this, and sometimes not. It helps a lot for me.

Same. It keeps the gameplay from just dragging on in an endless (or long) dungeon. Keeps thing interesting so say the least.

I'm trying to find them all without searching the guides. It amuses me every time I find a new one XD

I've found quite a few of them so far (don't ask me to list them, I'm just trying to beat the game as a wizard right now.....it's a bit challenging to say the least).

I found one that was timed...I should have asked someone to come help me x.x I'll make sure I do that when I find it again though.
