How long does it take you?
 

To name all fifty US states that is!!
And done by yourself, though the occasional help from a friend or two for those few tricky ones escaping your mind is fine. Just absolutely no online help!!!


It took me around one and a half to two hours to name all fifty. @_@ And it left my brain sooo tired. But I did it! :D
And I didn't even grow up learning any of the fifty cause I was never taught it in elementary/secondary school since I'm from Canada. So I feel really proud of my accomplishment. >w<

Idk, but I had to do it in school for a quiz so I know I can do it and in a fairly short period of time XD

I am sure you could memorize them but I have to ask...why? :) Oh I just remembered Minnesota. Make that 46.

I was in a contest to name and point to them all on a map when I was in 7th grade, my best time was 8 seconds. >_>

I had to learn them in grade school in 6th grade
learned them in alphabetical order
just timed myself 30 seconds

I'd have to say good job Arikana
I wouldn't of tried learning them on my own like you did

there was a song my class learned to help us remember it though
called: Fifty Nifty United States

Why do you guys even need fifty states? Us Canadians only have ten provinces and three territories... >.>

I don't know why. I live in America and I don't know why. I think it's because of the territories the land went through (ie wars and money) in which it made borders.

Mmm... That makes sense. Though it was still super annoying to figure out the final ten which took 60 to 90 minutes while the first forty was done in about half an hour. >.>

reminds me when I was little I had someone tell me that the state I was born in didn't exist

No idea, probably a while, since I'm Canadian too.

We tried that once in English class in high school and we were missing one and couldn't think of what, then we kidnapped a teacher passing by and he figured it out in like 2 seconds. (Indiana, haha.)

Disney does a version of the United States song that I think has their capitals too. Goofy sings part of it, maybe Mickey in there too. It has the occasional commentary moments "it's hot there in July" or something like that.

About a month ago, my co-worker and I actually were listing the states to see how many we could get. I think it took me like 45 minutes to an hour and I was still short by like 5 or something.
So it might take me a couple hours, but I could probably get them all eventually.

... Man, I just can't do it. :'D It's been too long. I suppose if I were to write it all out in list format I might be able to but it'd be 20+ minutes I'm sure.

Yeah, took me a couple of minutes to think of them all. Actually naming them would probably take longer...and it would be tedious.

if I start singing the animaniacs song? However long that song it. Sadly I only remember a quarter of the Countries of the World song(and it's wrong by now anyway). That was the best aide in school for the states, countries and presidents. But I always got weird looks for humming in class.

Well I learned a song in elementary school to remember them all, so, when sung it takes about a minute and a half? XD

But to write them all down would take maybe 5 minutes.

Less than a minute. After being forced fed this crap constantly through middle school, I'm surprised it took that long. Somewhere one of the nuns who taught me just threw a ruler.

I feel like I know most of them..but I don't think I've ever tried timing myself
I think I'll have to try after I come back from my trip

I want to search for the licence plates of all of them.
