A ship and an abandoned plain, met at what would seem like noon on Kalin. Funkduder, arriving from the docking bay, looked out at the near-desolate place. He had arrived at a bad season, but then again every season seemed to be a bad season here, but word came to him that it ca be proven wrong. Here was rumored to be a well of great potential...for money and power...water was rumored to be buried here, and as funkduder landed down, along with his scouting crew, the building of a new settlement had begun. Day 1
It began with housing, as it always did. The ship was okay, but the ship needed to conserve energy in order to be able to go back, so the power was turned off and the crew was oredered to bring out their belongings and Kalinian materials were used to build barrack-like lodgings. 5 to a room, and 5 rooms to a house, and 5 houses. Supplies would last 5 days unless they to get to the water. They began digging right away.

The crator was measured to go a quarter mile down. A very good start considering that only a house was lost with very few injurys.
The Isilme, were there any, would be more alert now, and so the digging and defensive preperations hastened.

Alright! Stop Everything! We're done for the day, don't do anymore. Hip Hip hooray!!!! :)
Day one has more or less finished and the workforce is alive and well. There hasn't been any opposition either, on this first day...but has anyone noticed the large explosion from earlier? The next four days will reveal this...
Day 2

\\The crew recieved a early wakeup as an explsion rang throughout the camp. They targetted the man-made wall, whoever they were and they hit hard, sending every man stationed there to the floor. Suddenly from the top of the send wall, a few nameless crew members fell to their deaths being tossed from looks to be a dragon.//
The Ascent Arco, in full dragon form, raged hell on the dig site.

You have committed crimes against the enterprise and her people. *keeps a tight grip as the acsent arco struggles* What say you in your defense. *the ascent arco lets out a blood-curdling screech*
...So be it...RRAAAGH! *slams the ascent arco to the ground in an arc*
*huffs and puffs* I think I got him.
With the assistance of DarkForbidden-Love, the dragon finally beaten, and the digging could resume. By the time the day had ended, the final charge explosions, the crew measured 1/2 mile down in total. Extremely good progress.
Day 3 & 4
It wasn't a surprise to know that the dragon, which we discovered to be a fully transformed ascent arco, killed some people on it's way to its demise...However...

And so day three was much slower than the previous days.

@Funk, I see sand, sand, and more sand. Oh and giant mutant scorpions are coming out of the drilling area, does that count as 'something'?

This is indeed something....It's a good thing that our guys are mostly out of there, else we would have a problem...*the drill gets jammed*
Uh oh...

It’s the final day…
And so they were called…however
The dig teams moved faster, giving the goblins time to go in and explode. Every means of digging was employed…
But in the end it was the goblins that finished the job
‘It was a glorious discover,’ Funkduder began to say to the reporter. ‘The goblin explosion took us another quarter mile down, finishing the dig towards the source of water…or at least we thought it would be water…
And so we, like many other adventurers, camped out and prepared to enter the ruin….’

Progress
We have walls built, as well as a a hospital and a dining hall. Our ship is docked, but shut mostly off and all of the supplies have been unloaded. We've been here 4 days.
So far, our progress down is 1/2 out of the one mile to the rumored basin of water. It should be about as big as the indian ocean, so it won't be hard to see, and it's fresh, providing potential on such a desolate planet.
A 25 of our patrol crew is injured (whether up on relief or hospitalized) and at 15 were accounted as dead from the Ascent Arco attack.
We found the basin, though it wasn't what we expected (there is less water), lowering the initial profit. However, inside the basin there is a ruin. We are to explore it to find anything of value.

Gallagher
01-04-2012 01:48 AM
-steps out to settle alongside Funk. He carries a heafty bag on his back, and a smaller one on his hip, the weight of both making him lean ever so slightly to compensate. He looks out across what stretch of land he could see, then turns his attention to Funk-
... You don't expect me to do any manual labor, do you?
Funkduder
01-04-2012 01:49 AM

Gallagher
01-04-2012 02:13 AM
-rolls eyes- As if I'd waste precious supplies by messing or punishing someone with them. Give me a touch more credit than that.
-glances over to the apparent new cook, eyeing the book- If this crew should start to suffer malnourishment so long as we do have the supplies, it'll be your head.
Ashy
01-04-2012 02:14 AM
we might need to hire some security so our food doesnt get raided
Asami
01-04-2012 02:14 AM
