Character Sheet:
Played By: Rose Name: Alton Aonar of the Rilynghym line Race: Drow (aka dark elf) Gender: Male Age: 27 Appearance: Standing at about 6'2 with silvery white hair he's hardly anything special to look at among his kind. Nothing that sets him apart really, he's not the tallest of them that's for sure, the only rare feature he even possesses is that one eye is white while the other remains it's normal red color. But there is reason for this, on the right side of his face there seems to be a rather large burn scar, covering a good portion of that half of his face, including his eye. He keeps his hair pulled back in most cases minus what few strands that seemed to stay in front or at the side of his face. Wardrobe: When in service to the lord of the lands he wears the proper colors, mostly being a full back outfit with trims of gold on them. Though in most cases he's found in something that could possibly give away his roots as to where he as from. His normal outfit normally includes a mix of red along with black, there is a rumor that these were the house colors his family served under before they were eradicated. Either way he commonly is found in robes giving away the fact he isn't a strong melee fighter, not that it matters for those who cross his path... Dress Bio: One of the many long forced to do the bidding of the evil lord looking to over throw the current kingdom, a child solider or rather in this case a gifted solider. The uncommon ability to use any form of magic he was presented with earned him a easier route then most under the lord's command. Though during the raid on the castle he was far from a child then, in fact he lead one of the forces that forced their way into the central part of the castle. Even with his skills and phrase from the being he took orders from he was far from content with this so-called life. In the two years that passed he had begun to dabble with forbidden arts, ones that were long said destroyed in the last ancient war. Even with his plans to turn against the new found king of these lands he kept his place, he needed a time a reason to make such a bold act against the current ruler. To go about it blindly was asking to be hacked down on the spot. Though his life wasn't always like this, long before the princess was born he had a rather simple life, before wars were starting to break out due to rumors of untold power. Though that is a story for another time, you've gotten all your going to get for now. |
( I hope that this is alright. ) Two years ago the Bainard family found a young woman who had come to shore, from where they did not know. The young woman was confused; she had no recollection of anything but her own name. When they had brought her to their home, the woman, Phae, clothed the young woman and dressed any injuries that she had. When she awoke they fed her and allowed her to stay in their home for a few nights. Though a few nights turned into weeks, then months. Phae had grown fond of the young woman. One night Phae spoke to her husband, Roy, of perhaps taking the young woman in. The young woman had nowhere to go considering she could not recall her mother or father or anyone that she had known. Phae had also never had any children of her own; she was incapable of doing so. Seeing that having a friendly face in their home made his wife happy, Roy allowed it. The young woman named Emily became their daughter. They lived peacefully for two years. It was a warm summer day; it appeared to be like any other day in the small market place. The constant chatter of the other villagers filled the air, she breathed in the smell of freshly baked goods. Phae had given Emily some errands to run as usual. Emily was expected to pick up a few things from the market place, mostly food and material to sew clothing for the small family of three. Emily was allowed to bring home anything of her choice if she liked it enough. Phae spoiled the young woman who she now called her daughter. Emily swung the basket that she had brought with her back and forth in an attempt to amuse herself. There was not much to do in the village, Emily felt like an outcast seeing as her fellow villagers gave her odd looks every now and then. It was most likely due to her abilities. They had never been seen before in the small village, there were rumors that she had done a deal with a demon to obtain them. It did not take very long for Emily to gather what her mother had sent her out to retrieve. She easily fit what she had purchased into her basket and thanked the men and woman who supplied her with what she needed. Emily began to make the long journey back home though before she could leave the market place a sudden feeling came over her. She stopped; she turned her head to look in the direction of the exit of the market place that led to the main road for travelers. A few villagers had stopped briefly to look over at their new visitors as well. Four heavily armored men entered the market place; they all sat upon heavily armored horses. Weapons rested by their sides, more than one for each of them. For a moment the villagers fell silent, tension erupted throughout the small market place. One of the men smiled briefly at a woman with a child, some of the villagers began to speak again though quietly. They were afraid. Emily watched the four men; she turned away quickly when one looked directly at her. The smile that crept upon his face was unsettling, the way that his eyes rested on her made her skin crawl. She began to walk quickly in an attempt to leave the market place; the last thing that she wanted to happen was for any of those four men to become interested in her. Her ears fell slightly as she heard what seemed to be one of the men getting off of his horse; her heart began to pound in her chest. "Excuse me mi'lady," knots filled Emily’s stomach, she jumped as she suddenly felt his hand around her arm. Her basket fell from her hand, everything spilled out across the ground. "Why are you in such a hurry?" he asked, when she looked up at him his smile grew large. "You can’t stay here and play with us for a bit?" he purred, he leaned in closer to her. "I must not stay any longer, my mother is expecting me." She spat out the words quickly in an attempt to escape from him. Emily pulled her arm back in an attempt to free herself from his grip. She let out a soft cry when he pulled her back; he tightened his grip without a second thought. "You have become quite the woman, haven’t you?" he whispered quietly to her a laugh escaped from between his lips. "Excuse me?" she squeaked, her eyes grew wide as he brought his other hand to the back of her head. He pulled Emily downwards to get a better view of the back of her neck. His fingers ran through her hair for a moment before brushing it away from the back of her neck. Emily tried to resist him though his strength was almost abnormal. "To think, I have finally found you. All of these years we thought that you had perished along with the others but here you are!" A soft groan escaped from her lips, he pulled her back up forcing her to stand straight as he held her by her hair. "I don’t know who you are or what you want, let me go!" she slammed her free hand against his chest, though the man before her did not even flinch. He released his hand from her hair then brought it to hold her once free hand. "You should remember me that is a pity. How hard did you hit your head?" Emily narrowed her eyes, her ears perked up. "I would never remember a man like you because I would never associate with a man like you! Now let me go!" she hissed, though she wanted desperately to escape there appeared to be nothing she could do. The villagers were no help; they all stood silently watching as Emily was being held by this unfamiliar man. Laughter erupted from the man; his grip grew stronger around her wrists. He forced her to walk towards the other men. "My name is Maven," he told her as they walked. "Do you remember me now?" Emily looked up at him for a brief moment, though she could still not remember his face or his name. "I told you, I do not know who you are! Where are you taking me?" her eyes frantically looked around her for help though the villagers seemed content with not getting involved. "That’s too bad, though after what I am going to do to you, you will never be able to forget me again." Maven forced Emily up onto the horse; he took rope then tied her wrists together. "If I told you where we were going then it wouldn’t be a surprise would it?" he then brought himself to sit upon his horse. "Burn down the market place, take care of these people. Then do the same to the village, we were never here." He told the three other men, the villagers looked up at them in alarm. Maven pulled on his horses reigns, then he left. Emily looked back at the village, flames erupted suddenly from it. The villagers screamed as one by one they were slaughtered. |
Among the three that were ordered to destroy the village was Alton, the only reason he had come to this damned village was to see if rumors of a girl with the natural gift were true. From the energy he could read from her it was very true, though hardly refined in any way. For the moment he allowed the leader of this little group to escape with the girl, he thought for certain was the same from the raid over two years ago, though she hardly acted like the princess. There was probably reasons for that but it could be dealt with later. A few villagers were slain on the spot, it couldn't be helped in the least.
Even as the buildings burned and cries for help rang out he was debating on his course of actions, it came down to now or never... Letting at least a half a hour go by he finally started to walk, his first target was the younger of the two guards they had with them. He was mere seconds from bringing his blade down upon another villagers head when he seemed to freeze in his tracks. Dropping the weapon he grabbed his neck before he spun to see what was even going on. He tried to gurgle out his words but it was useless as he started choking on his own blood, his eyes and ears even leaking the very same red liquid that kept one alive. The villager wasn't sure what was happening even the few others who were cowering at the fact there were two in the same area wasn't sure what to make of this. The whole time he kept the hood of his robes up covering his face, only a few strands of silvery hair escaped from it's shadows. He had to hurry though before Maven had too much of a lead, though he knew the leader of this band would hardly be in a hurry... probably planning some sort of act with the young girl before turning her over. The second of the guards was just as easy to get rid of with a unexpected attack, though he wasn't as nice to this one as a sudden sound of bones snapping could be heard as the guard fell to his knees in pain. "WHY! Your on our side... " He gasped out before another scream escaped his mouth as another bone seemed to crumble and snap. Alton grinned a little his eyes fixed upon his target. "I've never been on you side..." He hissed out sounding more then annoyed that he would think such a thing. After these acts were done and both men were dead he mounted the horse he had rode here on and took to the road to catch up to Maven and the girl. It took at least a hour to catch up to the two of them, though he never strayed from the path so it was easy to find them as well. Though Maven seemed to question the rider when he approached alone. "Were are the others?" He said with a glare towards Alton, though the hood made it impossible to see that Alton was all but smiling at his tone. "They'll catch up, they wanted to prolong their little game back there with the remaining females." He shrugged a little as Maven turned his head facing forward. "fair enough, you didn't want to stay?" He seemed to change his tone to hint at something. Alton sighed a little. "Alas I break most of my toys too quickly to enjoy such pleasures." He laughed slightly once he was done speaking. This was almost too easy, though he'd have to wait till they stopped to set camp up to try anything further of getting this girl away from Maven, he was't as much of a pushover as the other two. |
Emily did not attempt to escape, she knew that it would only result in another struggle that she would lose. Though if this man tried anything she would certainly put up a fight as much as she possibly could. She wasn't one to allow herself to be taken advantage of, besides she knew that if she was important enough to be taken away from her home that this man had no intentions in killing her. Did he know of her abilities? It only made sense that he did. Why else would he have searched for her for so long? Who had told him? Had the rumours travelled that far across the land? Though one of the more unsettling questions she wanted to ask was where he was planning to take her. They seemed to be taking a road that she did not recognize, perhaps it was just because she had never been out this far before. For a moment she briefly closed her eyes in an attempt to calm herself. If she allowed her nerves to get the better of her then she was become nothing but a mess. Though the smell of the village burning and the cries of the villagers being slaughtered were haunting her. She wondered how long it would be until she no longer heard such things, would this remain with her for the rest of her life? Emily opened her eyes as she heard what appeared to be another approaching Maven and herself. Her eyes examined the other man curiously, she had never seen someone dressed in such clothes before. She remained silent as the two men spoke to each other, she feared that if she interrupted either of them that she would receive a beating or perhaps worse. Her ears fell a little after hearing what the other man had to say. He broke his toys? Perhaps it was better for her to remain quiet the entire way there. Emily tore her eyes away from the other man, she looked ahead curiously still unsure of where Maven was bringing her. "Where are you taking me?" she finally asked, she blurted out the question thoughtlessly. It was too much for her to sit quietly, to accept what was happening and to think of what would happen once they reached their destination. Emily's question was not answered right away, the silence from Maven was unsettling. She wondered what he could possibly be thinking, what did he want to do to her? He had made a rather disturbing comment earlier, she feared that he would go through with it. She could only imagine that whatever he wanted to do to her to make her never forget him again would be unpleasant. "I told you that if I told you where we were going then it would not be a surprise anymore." Maven finally spat out, Emily flinched when he turned his head to look at her briefly. "If you speak again I'm going to have to do something about it." a wicked smile grew on his face, then he turned back to face the road ahead. They had travelled for quite a bit before Maven decided it was time to set up a small camp for the night. There was a forest not too far from here that they had to travel through to get to where they wanted to go. Though Maven did not favour travelling through it during the night. He brought his horse to the side of the road, he looked up at Alton. "We will set up a small camp here for the night then continue the journey in the morning," he lifted himself off of his horse, once beside the horse he took hold of Emily and forced her to stand beside him. "I'll set up the tents, could you gather some fire wood? I have to keep an eye on this woman..." his eyes shifted from Alton to Emily, there was a hunger in them. |
Sure his words probably came across to her ears as being vile or even worse, but most of them were just a act. The only true time he wasn't just saying such things was during combat, normally whatever he promised his foe would happen. He never said a word as to his threats towards the girl, he already had his mind made up and he wasn't going to allow such things to happen. Sure he didn't honestly care that much a bout her but the rumors of her powers were enough to give him a reason to want to keep her alive.
As Maven stopped and told him what to do he sighed a little voicing his complains before walking off leaving the two behind. Though he knew too well what type Maven was and going too far was out of the question. Sure he did follow orders for the time being gathering the wood, but it was a matter of time before Maven decided to take things to far or ask where the others were. He'd have to make his move then or before. |
Maven smiled as Alton went off to gather wood for a fire. He took hold of the reigns on his horse with one hand then used his other hand to take hold of the rope being used to keep Emily's wrists together. Maven stopped underneath a rather large tree, using all of his strength he tossed Emily to the ground. "Stay there, if you even try to escape then I will beat you until you are nothing but black and blue." he hissed, Maven then went to the side of his horse. He began to take out supplies to put up two tents, Emily watched him quietly as he did so. Her mind was restless, she kept thinking about how she could escape. Once he had finished putting the tents up he walked back over to Emily who still remained on the ground. "Now it seems that we have some alone time together, doesn't it?" a laugh escaped from his lips, he eyes wandered over the young woman who seemed helpless. "I think that I'm going to have some fun with you before Alton returns with the wood." Emily opened her mouth to release a scream though it was muffled as Maven placed a firm hand over her mouth. She squirmed as she felt his body against his, the feeling of his other hand running up her leg made her quiver. "If you keep quiet then maybe I will not beat you." Maven removed his hand from her mouth, he leaned down to place a rough kiss against her lips. Emily turned her head avoiding it. "No!" she yelled, she pressed her hands against his chest in an attempt to push him off of herself. "Get off of me you bastard!" Maven laughed at her comment, he brought the hand that he had held over her mouth under her chin. Emily whimpered as she felt his lips running up the side of her neck then to her cheek. "Please, don't do this!" she pleaded, she slammed her hands against his chest. Maven pulled his lips away from her, his breath was incredibly hot against her face. "If you don't shut your mouth then I'm going to have to gag you," he hissed the words out, a laugh shortly followed. "Though I would rather be able to hear you during this." he whispered quietly into her ear. This was possibly Maven's favorite part about capturing women, especially attractive woman who appealed to him. The feeling of her soft skin was almost unbearable, he knew that he was going to enjoy this greatly. His hand wandered further up her leg, it lingered just underneath her dress for a moment before he started to slowly move it upwards. "Leave me alone!" Emily cried as she felt Maven's lips growing close to her own. A heavy sigh escaped from his lips when she spoke again. "I told you to shut your damn mouth, you-" a sudden noise caught his attention. He brought his hand from her thigh to his side where he had a weapon. "What the hell was that?" he barked loudly, he looked up from the young woman under him. Maven's eyes searched the area around him for what had made such a noise. Emily looked around cautiously wondering what had made the noise as well, though it wasn't a terrible thing. It had distracted Maven from what he had planned to do. As he began to lift himself off of her she brought her knee upwards and slammed it against his stomach as hard as she could. He flinched from the sudden hit, he brought his hand to where she had struck him. Maven reached out a hand to grab her by the neck though suddenly something wrapped around his wrist quickly. Both looked up at the sudden object in alarm, it was a branch from the tree they were under. Maven tore his blade from his side to hack the branch off though as he lifted his arm another branch shot out and took hold of his free wrist. "You little bitch, you're using your powers!" he hissed, he should have known better. Maven attempted to pull himself free from the tree though he simply could not. "Release me now!" he barked, Emily squirmed out from under him then brought herself to her knees quickly. When Maven attempted to kick her she quickly moved away from him. Emily's eyes watched him for a moment, her powers? She had never been able to use them like this before. "No!" she yelled at him, she began to walk away from Maven. "I will not release you! You can stay here and rot!" Emily turned from him, she began to run towards the forest knowing that he would not follow her into it during the night. Though she did not get to the entrance as she had planned to. Emily looked back to see if Maven was following her, it was a simple mistake. In this whole mess she had forgotten about the other man, Alton. Suddenly her body crashed against another, she heard wood tumble to the ground as her body did. Emily let out a groan as her body met the ground, she opened her eyes and looked up at an unfamiliar face, though familiar clothing. It was Alton. |
He had gotten a little further then he had wanted to though a odd commotion was heard as he was about to start heading back towards the camp but he didn't get the chance to as someone suddenly crashed into him causing what he had gathers to be forced form his hands. He was three seconds from yelling at whoever it was before he noticed it was the girl.
"well.. take it things didn't go well at camp eh?" He sighed a little before moving and offering her his hand so she could get up. "Your choice if you trust me or not but from the yells it sounds like Maven is more then pissed... also I can tell you now that the whole kingdom is looking for you." He had a stern voice but he was telling her the truth over all, not that she had a reason to trust him. After she didn't offer to move right away he shook his head a little. "I'd hurry up before he figured out what you did and how to get out of it." She still seemed to not want to move, not that she should trust him with the conversation from before. "Your village is fine... by the way, I only counted around twelve that were lost." Sure it wasn't much but it did prove that the other two that he told Maven were not coming back. |
Wide eyes looked up at Alton who did not seem to be bothered by her sudden presence. She flinched when Alton reached out a hand to help her to her feet. It was the last thing that she expected from someone who she had labelled as an enemy. What she had thought she would have received instead of kindness was a beating or worse from him. Emily had not forgotten the conversation that the two men had had earlier. She watched the other silently, when he spoke she did not speak back yet. It was hard to tell if he was being sincere about wanting to help her up or if he was tricking her. She finally brought herself to stand up without his help, slowly though. She was keeping herself on guard, if he tried anything she would be quick to react. "You're allowing me to go? You're not going to stop me?" the questions left her lips quickly, she breathed out heavily then in. Her eyes filled with curiosity though it was a mixture of that and fear. "Why?" for a moment she looked down at her wrists that were still bond together, she began to make an attempt to loosen the rope. Once the rope became loose she squeezed one hand out then the other. Emily allowed the rope to drop to the ground, she then began to massage one of her sore wrists. "Isn't he your allie?" Emily looked back up at the other, her ears dropped a little when she heard Maven still causing a commotion back where he had set up camp. "My village is fine? What about me now? I have no home, they will not accept me back there after this." she shook her head then walked past Alton, she kept her eyes on him the entire time. "Now... there's an entire kingdom after me. I don't understand why this is happening to me!" she jumped a little as she heard a sudden noise, the trees seemed to be swaying. Were they reacting to her emotions? "I don't even... what am I to do now?" a shaky breath escaped from her. |
"it's your choice to go, like hell im bothering to stop you/ I agreed to come on this mission to feed my curiosity of a person with rumored powers of wild magic. Seeing as my said curiosity is sated at the present time I see no point in further detaining you." He seemed to shrug a little hardly acting like he was serious in any of this. Though his voice seemed to change when she called the others his allies. "They are hardly what i'd call allies, your allies don't destroy your home when your a mere lad, nor do they force you to fight..." His ears were back though he quickly regained his calm it seemed once he was done speaking.
"what you do now is your choice, but your village is fine enough. A few minor repairs and a day of burying the few lost. With you not there the Kingdom won't bother attacking them again." He watched her as she walked, he wasn't threatened by her, but he wasn't about to test her in provoking her natural magic.. not when she couldn't control it. He noticed the trees responding to her as well before he returned his gaze to her. "for starters you need to calm down before you get us both killed.. your powers are with nature, it's also known as wild magic" He seemed to sigh a little as she seemed to be confused more then anything, she did need to calm down a little though before he had a tree to deal with.. or worse. "The current lord of the lands wants you for your ability, among other reasons.. though the other reasons aren't important." There was no need of forcing information into her, not here. "But aside from calming down, leaving this area would be advised.. before Maven figured out how to free himself and called for backup." He smirked a little before going on "also before they figure out what type of magic killed the two guards in the village.. heh" |
She took a step back as she realised that she had offended the other, the sudden tension between them was unsettling. The trees that surrounded them groaned. "Huh?" she squeaked quietly, her ears fell a little when he mentioned her abilities. She looked behind her at the trees for a moment then back at Alton who seemed worried about the way the trees were behaving. "Wild magic?" she repeated the words that he had said, Emily had never heard of such magic before. Though she didn't know much about any magic really. "I have never heard of Wild magic before, I didn't even know that is what I have..." she breathed out a heavy sigh, she would at least attempt to calm herself. Emily listened to the other speak though she did not speak when he was finished. Everything that he was telling her was hard to comprehend. For a moment she allowed her mind to wander, she felt incredibly overwhelmed. "Why are the other reasons not important? I would like to know what they are." she finally spat out another question searching for an answer. "Though... I suppose you have no obligation to tell me anything and you are right. I should leave right now rather than stay longer." The darkness of the forest seemed to be calling to her, whispers filled her head distracting her from Alton who stood in front of her. Though it was hard to believe, Emily knew that the forest would protect her as she travelled through it. It was a feeling that she had never felt before, why did she only start noticing such things now? Had her ability evolved to the point that it was no longer unnoticeable? She took a step away from Alton, then turned to go to the forest. "You killed them, didn't you?" for a moment she lingered by the entrance of the forest. "Why not come with me? Tell me more about my abilities? If he is not your allie then why stick around? That seems rather pointless." she looked over her shoulder at him, a weak smile across her face. Emily felt odd inviting someone that she had labelled an enemy to join her... she did not wait for him to answer. If he followed, then he did. If he did not then that was simply it. She went into the forest, the darkness consumed her. |
He had to sigh a little, what did he expect for her to know? Of course not. "Wild magic is what is also called natures magic, it's a rare gift anymore. Most have to study for years in order to obtain even a slightest ability in the magic arts. but every once in a blue moon someone is born with it." He shrugged a little, that was the best he could give her for now without over doing it too far, sure he could go into further details but he could already tell this was a bit much for her at one time.
"It's not important because it would further complicate things, you've already dealt with enough today without adding to it further." He didn't mean to really be rude in his reply to what eh had meant but it was the truth, to toss out she was the lost princess of the old kingdom was still something he was grasping let alone telling her when she seemed to have no recollection of who she was. He nodded slightly at her question of if he killed them or not. "I had no intention of sticking around.. they'll be finding out soon enough of other events that are linked to me." He smirked a little knowing every last one of them. Though he gave her a odd look when she said he should go with her, he wasn't expecting it to be that easy to just follow her. Then again so far he hadn't done anything out of the way to her either. Once she had taken a few steps he shrugged and moved to follow her, why the hell not he wanted to know more of her abilities. Plus seeing as she had little to no control over them she might be a danger to herself even if no one was around to remind her to check her emotions.. aside from that if he felt the mood he could help her... though probably not. |
There was a comfort in the darkness, a comfort that she had never felt before. Despite being blinded by it as she stepped into the unfamiliar forest she felt at peace. Once her eyes adjusted to the dark it made walking about the forest a bit easier, though it was still rather difficult. An eerie calmness overwhelmed her, her mind had finally settled and her body felt weightless as she moved. Was it the forest that did this to her? Being surrounded by nature? She could hear soft whispers throughout the forest, were the trees attempting to speak to her? She could not make out half of what they were saying. Emily knew that the other had superior eye sight, for a brief moment she wondered if he would take advantage of her. Though she quickly pushed that thought away knowing that the last thing that Alton wished to do was to upset her. Earlier he appeared to be determined to keep her calm, why would he cross her now? Especially when they were surrounded by nature, she certainly had the advantage here if anything got out of hand. Though she worried that she could possibly kill herself in the process of protecting herself. Time passed quickly as they walked deeper into the forest with every step. Emily could not tell how long they had spent walking, her feet had become sore as did the rest of her body. She finally brought herself to stop seeing as it was probably best for them to rest for a bit. A heavy sigh escaped from her lips, she looked over her shoulder at the other who had been following her in silence this entire time. She had not spoken a single word to him the entire time either, not even when he began to follow her without protesting. He had a motive, though she wasn't sure what it was yet. She had her assumptions. "I'm growing tired, I think that it would be best if we took some time to rest." she spoke softly to him, she appeared to be content. Her eyes looked around the surrounded area for a moment then she left the path that they had been travelling down since they had entered the forest. "Here, we can stay here for a little bit." she wandered over to a tree with it's roots exposed. The mess of roots had made an almost perfect sitting place. She wondered if she could manage to sleep with Alton there, trust was a hard thing for one to earn from her. |
He didn't mind the silence really, it was true he could see better then her in the darkness but it's only use at the moment was to ensure they weren't being followed. Each step he was trying to think of how he was going to study this girl's powers without getting either one of them killed in the process. She had no training not even a guiding hand, this was the most dangerous type of magic out there.. and it was far from refined in this girl.
Though when she finally spoke saying she was tired he figured she'd have to be sooner or later, if you weren't use to traveling then this was a long trek for sure. Really he felt rather like a idiot for not stealing the damned horse but it was a bit late for that now. Once she was seated it was easy enough to tell how tired she really was, though he figured she was going to have a rough time really resting with everything that happened today. Plus his own presence wasn't something anything too encouraging either. He had kept the hood up this whole time, though when she had crashed into him she probably did see part of his face, though he had his reasons for wanting to keep it hidden... certain marks made it rather easy to spot him... plus he still had half a mind to drop this girl off at the next nearest light elf village he crossed paths with. "you should try to get some rest, i'll stand watch. If it concerns you of my presence that much I can do so further away." He said right after his first remark catching the look she gave him. Though he didn't let her answer as he took a few steps holding one hand out for a brief seconds before he seemed to step a few odd paces away. An eerie light glowed softly on the ground slowly curving and forming a pattern of sorts as he muttered a few incoherent words. Once he seemed to finish with the spell the glow remained on the ground and the surface seemed to shift and move a little as what looked to be a skeletal bird clawed it's way from the surface., it's eyes filled with the same purple glow as it faded from the ground. "Search and report" He hissed out to it as the creature seemed to take to the air instantly after it was summoned following it's summoners orders. So these arts were far from common themselves, really they were part of the forbidden magics that were suppose to be lost. But he had spent most of hi life studying and trying to under stand them. Over the years it became easier and the dark spells were second nature, though he disliked doing them in front of others. But there was a few reasons for this... one they were the dark arts and two they were something that most feared. Personally he had enough issues as it was without adding fear of the common folk to his list. |
She jumped as the other made a sudden movement, when the ground glowed her eyes grew wide with both curiosity and fear. She bit her tongue holding back the urge to ask him questions. Considering that he seemed to be elsewhere at the moment, her ears perked up as she attempted to hear what he was whispering. Though no matter how hard she tried to concentrate she could not make out anything. She finally gave up once he fell silent again though she remained on edge when an unusual creature appeared before Alton. When the creature disappeared into the night after given an order Emily rose from where she had sat, she slowly approached the other. "I have never seen such a thing before," she wondered if he would be surprised by what she had told him. "Is that a rare form of magic? What is it called?" questions seems to be pouring from herself, she couldn't help it. For a moment she was tempted to bring his hand to hers to examine it, how did he do that so easily? How long had he trained for? "Did you learn that yourself or were you born with that as well?" she was rather close to him now, though she still managed to keep her distance. Her curiosity, as always, was getting the best of her. |
"heh... and you probably won't from anyone else." He hardly seemed shocked from her words, it was expected really, he was half surprised she wasnt running off screaming really. "It's not rare, it's part of the two types that were labeled as forbidden magic. In the past wars it was labeled as being too powerful or too corrupt so it was sealed away or the tomes were destroyed.. though there are a few places where such things still reside untouched."
He had to laugh at her though when she went on to ask if he was born with it. "Hardly... This was the type known as necromancy, or if you rather the keepers of bones in some legends and tales. It's not a type you are born with unless you happen to be a death god I suppose." He shrugged a little. "We'll just say that fate happened me to a place where there were untouched tomes and allowed me to study out of the kingdoms eye for many years..." Sure he had noticed that she had gotten closer, but still being in the forest he wasn't about to tempt fate, even if he could handle himself. "It wasn't always easy trust me, and the other magic has a high cost in it's use just as this one... The other type of forbidden magic is known as blood magic. Where death magics like this use the casters life energy to perform the spell the blood magic uses the body of the caster.. thus over use was the leading cause to death in most of the mages back when the art was being formed." He seemed to stop after his last sentence before waving his hand in the air a little. "but im sure all of that bored you to tears, so i'll leave it at that." He was use to being carried away when it came to talking about the types of magic but he also knew that most couldn't stand such conversations even if they were into the trade. |
"Excuse me for asking such silly questions," her eyes wandered to his hand for a moment then she looked back up at him. "I have lived a life where magic wielders are foreign, I have heard of them of course... I have even read about them when I had the time but I have never seen one and I have never met one before this." it appeared that she had forgotten completely who she was speaking to. "Though... I suppose that's a little silly considering that I am one, right? I knew but... at the same time I didn't. I never really labelled myself as one, back at the village all I ever did was heal others." a quiet laugh managed to escape from her, she seemed relaxed now. "They were afraid of me, they thought that I had made a deal with some sort of demon to obtain my abilities though they came to me when they needed help and they got it. Perhaps it isn't too bad that I can not return to the village..." she threw back her shoulders in a shrug. Though she could now avoid the villagers that she never got along with she would still miss her mother and father. Another laugh escaped from her, Emily did not budge from in front of the other. "I'm not bored," she said with a wide smile. "I would rather you tell me more than leave me with so many questions that I would like to be answered." she tilted her head to the side slightly as if she were a curious animal observing him. "What else is there to forbidden magic? Can you tell me more?" it was as if she was not even thinking over the questions that she wanted to ask anymore, they were just coming out one after another. "Tell me everything that you know, I'll try not to interrupt you with more questions. Though my curiosity does get the best of me sometimes." |
He had to look at her oddly, it wasn't everyday the very person he wanted to study with such a rare gift was wanting to know more about magic. Hell now a days it was rare for anyone to care, most got training and could do basic magic like fire or water skills but no one carried it past that. He wasn't quite sure what to do with someone that was curious and wanted to learn more. Though it wasn't that big of a shock that her village would say such things, it was almost unheard of to be born with magic, healing magic was the rarest kind among them all.
"Your a odd one aren't you.." He finally said with a slight chuckle. "You'll learn in due time.. I have a bit of a confession, I only chose to follow you because of your powers." He noticed the strange look she seemed to have from that. "I don't care about using them for a personal gain like most would,I want to see what someone with the natural gift can become. From what you just told me and from what I have already seen your element is nature itself. Next to the forbidden arts it is the rarest of the magic types, healing magics have long been forgotten. Even Clerics hard hard to come by now a days." She still seemed glued on him, really he wasn't trying to overload her mind with information off the bat, he'd have to stop this soon he didn't need to tell her everything in one setting that took him over 20 some years to obtain. "But to answer you, yes there is more to the forbidden arts... The user normally ends up killing themselves or the arts consumes the very soul of the wielder. This also had a hand into the arts being branded to be destroyed." He seemed to stop there for a moment before crossing his arms he kept his distance from her as to avoid her seeing his face, though he had is reasons for it. He wasn't proud of the mark let alone the tale behind it. "But I think that's plenty for one night, you've already had to deal with losing your home and being captive for a short period of time, rest would do you some good I think. Besides so long as you don't mind a traitors company i'll continue to tag along, so you can have whatever information you want, but I warn you now there is at least twenty years worth of it.. " He never mentioned he could probably help her in her abilities as well, but that could wait till she was elsewhere. Training here was a deadly game. |
It did worry her that the other had only kept her company due to his interests in her abilities. Though when he assured her that he did not have bad intentions she felt a bit better, however she still had her suspicions. "I suppose that I am odd," she could not help but agree with him, it was true. "Though you will eventually get use to it if you plan to stick around, I'll probably grow on you." she flashed a friendly smile at him. For a moment she wondered why he always wore his hood, what was he hiding underneath it? She was tempted to ask him to put it down though she decided not to. "Oh?" she squeaked quietly, she pried herself away from the other than slowly brought herself back to the tree. She let out a quiet groan when she sat down, she had forgotten about the real reason why they had stopped. "I don't mind your company, I'm actually rather interested in you now. Perhaps before I go to sleep I can think of some questions to ask you in the morning..." she smiled at him then leaned back against the trunk of the tree. "If you don't mind of course, though I doubt that you would. Do you ever meet anyone that's interested in learning about magic?" a soft sigh escaped from her. "Sorry... I keep asking questions, I should learn to stop before I drive you mad." she laughed quietly under her breath. Her ears perked up a little as she listened to the forest around her, she had never been in a forest before and she had never travelled so far from home. Despite the awful events that had taken place she felt at peace here. "I'm going to fall asleep soon..." she mumbled quietly, she rested her head against the trunk of the tree. "Don't try to trick me, you will regret it if you do." she tried to keep her eyes open for a bit longer but could not. It didn't take her long to fall asleep once she had closed them. |
"I rather hope not, I'm fond of the way I am thank you." He side with a enlightened one to her saying that she might even grow on him. He could tell her question without her asking it, it was more of a matter of time before she got her answer. It was a common question, not many now a days even mages ran around with hoods up. But with it up he could keep this friendly conversation, plus with it being the same girl from the castle he feared she might remember something form her past if he exposed his face.
He waved a hand towards her lazily. "If im not mad yet I doubt you could drive me to be." He laughed weakly though he had a sad fact for her other question. "to tell the truth, no... most go through training and learn a basic element, fire, water something like that. Easy skills to learn even a beginner can master them. Past that most never bother to look into their power further.. " He sighed a little. "guess it's a bit unfair to call you odd when you act like I did back a few years." He laughed slightly listening to her threat. "Wouldn't dream on it." To tell the truth he wouldn't. Not with her here, plus he didn't want to scare her off just yet. It would be safer for her own well being if she learned the basic control of her power before he parted ways with her. Also if h could manage to teach her more then the kingdom would have no chance in capturing her... He did as he said he would keeping watch, though this hardly meant he got no sleep. There were methods of resting and keeping watch, they came in handy too. By early morning he was back to being fully awake leaving the girl to rest as she would. Though the crow he had animated the night before had returned as he had it perched on his arm. It was odd seeing a dead animal being cooed at but it behaved like it would have in life, by this time its body was covered in the soft glow giving it the illusion of its natural for, though transparent. |
The smell of smoke erupted throughout the palace walls, the heat of the flames that threatened her life was almost unbearable. It felt as if she were any closer her skin would have began to melt, sweat burst from her pours as she ran. Even her own tears felt hot against her cheeks as they fell, her heart pounded in her chest so hard that it was becoming painful. She did not know where she was, though the castle was eerily familiar. She was dressed in attire that she would have never imagined to be in, someone with royal blood could only hope to wear such clothes. The feeling of the fabric against her figure felt too real. Behind her footsteps followed, the hair on the back of her neck stood. They were trying to capture her. Get out, she had to get out of here. She had to escape, she had promised someone that she would. Who? No matter how far she ran it seemed as if the hall would never end, though finally she came to a rather large door. She pushed with all of her strength, when it opened she was greeted with a cool guest of wind from outside. A chill ran throughout her body, she shivered from the sudden change in temperature. As she ran out into what seemed to be a garden she nearly stumbled and fell. Quickly she kicked off the heels that she wore, they were only a burden. "Little girl," a voice boomed from behind. "Little girl, come here. Don't you want to play with me? I promise that I will be gentle." laughter erupted from the man. "You little bitch, come back here." she looked over her shoulder for a moment as she ran, though shadows hid the man's face. Who was he? What did he want? A scream escaped from her as she looked forward, she scrambled to keep her balance as she stood on the very edge of the garden. Waves crashed against the hill below, she fell to her knees and gripped the grass in her hands. What am I to do now? "It doesn't matter how far you run, I will find you. Stop being so difficult!" her stomach filled with knots. What am I to do?! "Perhaps if you cooperate then I won't have to beat you." her eyes became wide with fear. What did he say? She slowly brought herself to stand once again, the water below tempted her to join it. The footsteps grew closer then there was sudden silence. "There you are," she looked over her shoulder at the man who she had been running from. "Come here, be a good little girl." he cooed, a wicked smile began to spread across his face. Why could she not make out his face? She looked away from him, her eyes rested on the water below. Her entire body trembled, why did this seem to be the only way? Then she jumped. Emily's eyes shot open, she threw her body forward and let out a heavy breath. For a moment her entire body felt cold as it did when her body met the water in the dream. Her ears fell, her eyes shifted from one area to another. The tree above her let out a sudden moan, it frightened her. It was a dream, calm yourself. It was nothing but a dream, she would try not to think too much about it. Though it bothered her that it was rather familiar, considering that she had never had that dream before. |
He glanced over at her when she seemed to awaken finally. Whatever she had been dreaming about seemed rather intense, probably a memory he would have guessed. Something she had no idea what was going on about and by her face she seemed confused as ever. Would he have to tell her someday who she really was? Let alone he was one of the many that day that stormed the castle killed her own men... there was no excuse for killing even if it was forced upon them.
He went back to entertaining the bird perched on his arm. "Must have been some dream, you've been crying out and whimpering for the past hour at least." He spoke finally, he didn't mean to sound like he was just going to let it go on but it was sometimes bad to disrupt such a dream. Plus the trees around her didn't seem to react to the dream till the end so he wasn't worried about her well being. He seemed to remain quite after what he said, figuring she needed to recover, probably try to get her mind wrapped around whatever it was she dreamed about. He wasn't worried about anyone catching up to them, apparently the crow had brought good news. Though he would wait for her to calm down before he spoke up again. In a half groggy state her powers could be dangerous and her mood seemed on edge at best. |
It took her some time to get her breathing to become normal again, her head had begun to pound furiously. When she breathed in heavily she could still smell the smoke though thankfully it finally went away. The only thing that she smelled now as she breathed in the the forest. Emily leaned back against the trunk of the tree, she brought her shaking hands to her face and covered her face for a moment. "I'm sorry if I disturbed you," she mumbled quietly, her hands still covering her face. "I have never had a dream like that before, it was different. It felt so real..." Emily massaged her face for a moment then brought her hands away from it. "There was a fire... I could feel the heat on my skin. Then when I went outside I suddenly felt cold, my entire body shivered." she looked over at the other then shook her head a little. "I can't recall ever having this dream before but it seems so familiar. I don't understand why." Slowly she stood from where she had been sleeping, she stretched her arms over her head then she let out a soft yawn. "Oh, your little friend is back?" she smiled weakly then slowly approached Alton. Her eyes became fixed on the unusual creature, it was amazing to see something that had passed to be so alive. "I have some bad news, I didn't really think over any good questions to ask you for this morning... I'll have to ask you whatever pops into my head." she had attempted to stay up a little bit longer, she was surprised that her constant thoughts had not kept her up all night. "Can you tell me more about your magic?" she had not even been up for very long and she was already asking him questions again. Emily brought her hand up to the unusual creature that was perched on his arm, she put her hand up in front of it to see if it would come to her. "Can you bring all animals back to life? Can you bring... other things back to life as well?" though she spoke to Alton her eyes remained on the unusual creature. |
"Hm?" He seemed to question her saying sorry. "Never bothered me, I've been up for a few hours now." The crow seemed to make a soft noise when he stopped paying attention to it for a moment. "Familiar huh... " he seemed to repeat what she had said, though it could only mean one thing she remembered or rather had a dream about something from her past.
He nodded a little. "Sometime this morning, he had a bit of good news with him. Like that there's no one within miles of us as far as the kingdom guard goes." Though he laughed a little at her saying she had bad news and what it was. "You shouldn't worry about it, they'll come to you in due time." The bird seemed to look at her before moving a little to rub against her hand a little. "I can do both of the forbidden magics.. though this also means i have to watch myself in combat" He shrugged a little hardly seeming worried by any of it. "As far as bringing things to life.. the larger the creature or the more energy you send into the more it drains the caster of the spell." He seemed to pause a little when she asked if he could bring other things back to life. "it can bring other things to life.. if you mean the dead.. though it normally reacts differently to each being in that case. Animals are different from elves or humans, it takes more energy to raise one of them, let alone control it to do what you want." |
The smile that had crept across Emily's face remained, she was genuinely intrigued by his ability to summon the dead. Not knowing anything before her new life with her adoptive parents she of course had never been exposed to such things being raised in a close-knit, quiet village. The only things that she had ever caught wind of were little rumours here and there, though she has chosen to ignore them a majority of the time. It was hard to tell if they were myths, lies or surprisingly the truth. Ever since her encounter with those men in the village and now seeing what Alton was capable of... why she was questioning everything, remembering all of those rumours. Perhaps they were not rumours, perhaps they were the truth. Her attention shifted from the undead creature to Alton, a soft, nervous giggle escaped from her as she listened to him speak. "Well, that makes sense... I'm sorry if I'm getting on your nerves with all of these questions." she appeared to be shy, for a brief moment she was reluctant to speak again. "I have been meaning to ask, how long do you plan to keep me company? Are you going to leave once you have learned enough from me?" her eyes went back to the undead creature, Emily brought ran her fingers along it's bones. "Would you... teach me how to control my abilities?" |
He waved her off rather quickly. "Hardly on my nerves, it takes a bit to get onto them. Though I wouldn't recommend trying." He wasn't being serious but it was a fact his kind had a dry sense of humor anyway. "Hrm? How long... till you grow bored or find out I have nothing further to teach you I suppose." He tilted his head a little thinking about it. "It all depends.. our fates might be bound at the moment but that can be broken with such simple actions. It could very well be your destiny to do something great, while I could just be a mere stepping stone to this path." He already knew she was destined to do something great, but that information had to wait for the time being.
Once she seemed done with the bird he knelt down and placed the creature on the ground as the glow was fading from it's bones. "To correctly answer you yes I'll help teach you, that was the main purpose I offered my help in the first place is it not? Well and I wanted to see the power that someone born with the gift could hold..." The creature seemed to go to sleep as the glow faded further from it's body, as the glow vanished the bones seemed to fade from site as well a small light returning to the earth. "Though most would want to abuse such powers.. id rather see the user use them for what they wish. Whatever cause they find to fight for in this life." |
Emily laughed quietly to herself, the last thing that she would ever want to do was to get on someone's nerves. Especially Alton considering his abilities, he could do quite a bit to her if he really wanted to. Though she could not help but ask one question after another. She had always been like this, well she assumed that she had always been like this anyways. She didn't remember her childhood or her early days as a teenager or anything before her life with her adoptive parents. She watched him with excitement growing in her eyes as he spoke. It was almost as if she were a small child trapped in the body of a young woman. Due to her size and appearance she wouldn't be offended if she was mistook for a girl in her early teens and it didn't help that she behaved as one either. "The last thing that I would want to do is to abuse the gift that I have been given!" she took a step backwards then turned around and began to walk away from Alton. "What do my abilities allow me to do?" Emily looked over her shoulder back at Alton. "Can I make things grow? Can I make the plants around me do tasks for me?" |
He nodded a little listening to her. "thats good to hear, I've seen too many users turn against the world." Most of the world still had issues with magic but it was slowly becoming accepted or at the least most types of magic were becoming accepted. He still used the forbidden arts and that was something that would never fit in. Even knowing this he still went about his life, it wasn't his issue if people didn't like the powers he had.
"Probably in due time yes you can do both of those things. With some training I'm not sure what your magic will be able to do in truth. It's not a common gift to control nature so documents on it are slim to none." He looked at her as if to say sorry he couldn't help by saying more, but thats really all he had. "We'll figure out something along the way, just as long as you don't go getting emotional on me in the middle of the woods.. " He laughed a little thinking on it a moment. "I'd rather not have a tree slap me thank you." |
