☪ஐﻬ☽ It's on the history channel and it's about a
family that live in Vegas and own like the largest
pawn shop in the country. I love the show. My husband
introduced me to it. You learn so much stuff on the
history of the country and people. Anyone else watch
this show? And love it like I do?

Some episodes are more interesting than others, but yeah, there's some really neat stuff on there sometimes. It's the only thing even remotely resembling a "reality" show that I watch. I do find Chumlee rather insufferable, though. There's no way he's actually that stupid off-camera.

Yokuutsu 10-09-2011 11:23 PM

I love that show!

Though sometimes......Chumlee and Corey....are pretty stupid. Chumlee a lot more than Corey though.

☪ஐﻬ☽ Sheol- I love your avi.

Lol I do wonder about Chumlee. You gotta wonder if he
is that stupid off camera, I do think he is, no one can
be that good at acting that stupid. ~_~

Thank you, Saiyouri. :)

And you actually just reminded me, have you ever seen the commercial the Pawn Stars guys do for... I can't even remember, some brand of energy drink? Chumlee manages to cram more stupidity into a minute and a half than he does in most entire episodes of the show. I cringe every time it comes on. :p

☪ஐﻬ☽ Ah man I wished I had cable to see that. I watch everything
on hulu and netflix so that is how I know about the
show. God I wanna see that commercial now, Chumlee
a moron more than he is in a episode, now that is
something everyone has to see.

☪ஐﻬ☽ I didn't even expect to like the show when I first saw it.
I thought it was a stupid idea for a show and didn't
understand why it would be on the history channel but
after watching so many episodes, all 4 seasons, I now
understand why it was on that channel and now can't stop
watching them over again.

It's the Gold and Silver Pawn shop, and they apparently specialize in the high risk and expensive items. Stuff standard pawn shops probably wouldn't want to take on, so the MSN article states.

I don't mind Chum. There was one episode where someone brought in a pair of Michael Jordon shoes and Chumlee was the one who provided all the info on them, and how to spot which release they were. Cory looked kinda stunned. Chumlee does in fact know stuff!

I turn on Pawn Stars and American Pickers and the like when they are on, by my favourite is Oddities.

Yokuutsu 10-11-2011 09:17 AM

Pawn Stars also has a game....that I play on facebook >> <<

Son of the Devil 12-18-2011 11:14 PM

I always love watching them rip off people and act like douches. :p

Kali_Namir 12-19-2011 02:35 PM

I'm actually watching that show right now. It's my little sister's favorite show on the history channel. She watches it all the time.

I work in the Pawn industry (EZPAWN), everyone asks us if we are like them and we AREN'T, we don't take ancient/historical items (there's an antique pawn shop a couple buildings down), we don't take handguns since 1999 after an incident.

We take in newer/technological items ans well as mostly GOLD; we definitely take in gold jewelry of any kind as long as it's real gold (not plated).

As the obvious one is that they are a family business, EZPAWN is a chained business by EZCORP. During training they did tell us about those shows. About 60-80% of the items in the store are props as well as if you got something unique to bring to the store to be on TV you have to get a reservation months in advance in order to be on TV about the item.

And we watch Hardcore Pawn to teach us what NOT to do for customer service.

Jazz 12-20-2011 09:15 PM

That shows a classic.

Yokuutsu 01-02-2012 04:43 PM

Lately, I've been watching Pawn Stars...and sometimes...Chumlee doesn't seem as stupid as he used to be. Maybe he's maturing or just getting smarter O: -shock-

Alpha 01-03-2012 03:49 AM

I watch the show from time to time, as well as Real Deal. They are both interesting and it is interesting to see what goes through the shop (or auction house in the case of Real Deal).

He reminds me of those people that everyone thinks he's an idiot and can proceed as an idiot but deep down he's not that dumb but actually a genius

Yokuutsu 01-05-2012 10:41 PM

Eh, I don't think Chumlee is a GENIUS, but he definitely isn't a complete dumbass or anything.

He has smarts but the show might of edited them out

Yokuutsu 01-05-2012 10:50 PM

Maybe, or maybe he was just a lowly...whatever is low in a pawn shop.

Or maybe he really did smarten up over time. Since they were teaching him on some episodes.

Echo-chan713 01-06-2012 02:06 AM

My only question is that: WHY WOULD YOU SELL (RARE) HISTORICAL ITEMS TO A PAWN SHOP?

Yokuutsu 01-06-2012 02:08 AM

Desperate for money?

Don't care about the significance?

You're significant other doesn't care about the significance and wants it out and you care more about your significant other than the item?

You want someone who'd truly appreciate it (full appreciate it) to have it?

Well the reason why I ask the question is because Pawn shops try to buy the merchandise from the seller then sell it at a higher price (even though it's half off of retail). I understand it's for profit (I work at the pawn industry) but I couldn't price history.

Yokuutsu 01-06-2012 05:59 AM

Well, it's the same for any other item-supply and demand. They don't buy items that they think there is like no demand for unless they can get it really cheap?

And they usually call in an expert and they price it at auction prices?

I don't know much about pawn except around here...they like to screw you on both ends. I get better offers from gamestop for gaming things .-.

I work at a pawn shop (EZPAWN more specifically) and we do sell games between $2.99-$14.99. and when someone wants to sell them its 50¢ each (or a dollar I can't remember) and when someone want to pawn/sell DVD we take them in at 50¢ each because there's a low demand for them all because of Netflix and movie streaming. Blu-Rays $1 each.

Anyway video games/ gaming system are right now for us are selling through the roof because it's cheap and we can add in a warranty that costs 10% of the price and that includes the hookups, and a controller.

Duena 01-10-2012 02:21 PM

Nice. Sounds like a decent deal at least. Although I know quite a few people get shafted pretty badly selling items to pawn shops....

Well it all depends what's going out there, online is the best way to find the prices and it' depends on the age of the product like we don't take cassette players, analog TVS anymore because their too old and it depends on the condition of the item whether it looks like its taking care of or if it beating to a pulp.

Kit Katy 01-11-2012 11:28 AM

I don't the characters in Pawn Stars, minus Rick, but I do like the items and the history.
