a sailor's life[m]
the young man gazed out to sea as he did every morning around this time, the wind blew through his auburn locks and he was filled with the ocean's majesty. as the sun rose behind him the light cast a glitter over the water not unlike diamonds on a navy brocade, he smiled and went down to shore to start the day's hunt for mussels and wood before the ships came in to port and he had to be back home to help his aunt make lunch for all the sailors.
(let's hope my limited knowledge of preindustrial sailing conditions is up to snuff) |
( Don't worry about it, sorry if I write a novel sometimes. xD ) Roy let out a heavy sigh as he stepped on to the dock, he breathed in heavily enjoying the aroma of the sea, it would be a few days before his ship resumed sailing across it. His eyes wandered over the village, his lips were curled up into a smile, he looked forward to spending the next few nights here. He frequently came here allowing his crew every few months to see their families. Though he had no family of his own, he didn't have a wife or any children. Really he didn't take a liking to females at all and didn't like children that much either. The women seemed to chase after him unfortunately, no matter how much he made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with them they wouldn't stop bothering him. If he could knock some sense into them he would. Though he wasn't like that, he wouldn't harm a woman no matter how much she annoyed him. "You can go," he barked at his men. They thanked him as they passed him to see their families. Though some were probably headed to the local tavern. Roy would go with them too but alcohol wasn't what he had an unclench-able thirst for, he liked something a little bit more sweeter. He would be satisfied shortly, tonight there was a festival and he hoped that someone he had been eyeing for some time would be there. It took some time for Roy to pick a new treat, though when he did he focused on that person and became determined to have them. Despite Roy's appearance he wasn't as he seemed, only his crew really knew what he was and they had sworn to keep his secret. He was a vampire. |
his catch was acceptable to auntie who freed him from having to help make the chowder so he could make his well renowned rice pudding, she never asked why he decided on any given day to make it and she had the sense not to ask for whenever her shy nephew came home to make it the ship judith could almost be guaranteed to be docked in the town port. she had no like for pirates, and that is what they were no matter what they called themselves, but their business helped her inn stay afloat some years and she would not balk.
the young man however thought of none of this for when he saw his ship pull over the horizon that morning all that had run through his head were thoughts of the ocean and it's great mysteries, of pirates and their duties at sea and of captain roy and his stories of a lands afar. he set out the ingredients for his pudding, rice and cream, butter and pepper, sugar and dates. the dates were the last of the last batch the captain had brought and one could all but count by how fast the fruit went when estimating how soon he would return to land. he chopped half the dates coarsely and half very fine how it was liked. when it was all mixed in and his auntie stepped out to handle a customer he stole away to the pantry where his special prize was located. he went behind the cheeses and reaching as far as he could pulled out a small glass vial with a single brown stick in it. he had won over a merchant with this very pudding and his reward was the sin-ah-minn the merchent was carrying, he knew little of spice value but he knew a gift when he saw it, the small unnasuming bit of bark was worth more than his life and more than he could ever earn in it. he palmed the jar and went back to the kitchen. she was still gone so he pulled out his small paring knife, the one he got from a sailor years ago and grated off a small dusting of it into the mix. he closed his little jar and swirled his knife once in the uncooked pudding. he took the vial back to it's hiding place and licking his knife went back to stuff the pudding. when he was done he put the whole thing on the small grille in the larger fireplace where the chowder was bubbling by now his aunt had come back in and put it on the fire leaving him only the small section at the bottom to work with, it was ok though for the pudding was small, only an arm's length long and not much thinner than his wrist. when the pudding was grilled just so he took it out of the fire and wrapped it in cheese-cloth to keep it until captain roy and his men arrived. (sorry i was hung up half an hour trying to find a name for my char and it didn't come to me^^: you want to name me?) |
( I'm just winging it with the set up of the inn. I assume it's an open area when you step in with tables and shit so that people can eat. Then a large counter, kitchen in the back? Haha... you can check in at the counter or order food or both. - gets shot - and then a large staircase that leads to the rooms upstairs. ) Roy made sure that his ship was secured to the dock before he left for the inn. The last thing that he really needed was for it the drift off. His men mocked him for it, but really his ship was almost like his baby. He had built it himself hundreds of years ago, though when he told tales he said that his great grandfather had built it being a pirate as well. Everyone in the village assumed that he was in his early twenties due to his appearance. No one seemed to question why he never seemed to age, there were rumours that he had made a deal with the devil gaining knowledge of where some sort of fountain of youth was. There were a few other rumours but he didn't pay much attention to them, most made him laugh. He had nearly made it to the inn but he was abruptly stopped by a woman. She screamed his name with excitement, Roy cringed at the sound of her voice. "Oh, could it really be?" she seemed to be mocking him, but really she was just hopelessly smitten with him. She wrapped her arms around one of his and pulled him close. "Have you just arrived? Why didn't you say hello?" Roy let out a heavy sigh, he pulled his arm away from her. "Don't touch me," he hissed though as he went to leave her she stepped in front of him. "You can't avoid me forever," she said and laughed. Would she ever leave him alone? "I wish that I could." he brought a hand to her shoulder and pushed her to the side. "Leave me alone, I have no interest in you." then he entered the inn. The woman crossed her arms over her chest, she seemed disappointed. Some other villages were laughing at her behaviour and how Roy had treated her. He did that to every woman who showed interest in him. A few villages inside of the inn looked at Roy distracted from what they had been doing for a few moments, then returned when he looked back at them. He walked over to the counter, he brought his elbow down on it and leaned forward. "Hello Auntie," he teased the woman knowing of her dislike of him. Though he knew that she wouldn't throw him out because he supplied her with two month's worth of earnings within three days. Roy brought his hand to his waist by his sword was a large pouch full of money. He took it and let go of it above the counter, it fell with a loud thud. "I request three days stay here for me and my men!" |
(actually they were windowless rooms with a front half and a back sometimes an upstairs and a basement larder. we sleep in the kitchen where it is warm you get the room above because it is warmest against the chimney and your men can get fucked because i am too lazy to place them >> pretend they need no direction for their rooms)
he could hear captain roy and his aunt in the front, he pulled out several large loaves of staled bread and began slicing them for trenchers, he ladeled out chowder on each slice and placed them on a large board. he took the slices out five or so at a time and did this four times, he then gathered glasses, real glass ones, for these were the men of the judith and always had the best, and filled them with honeyed godale and cider, he knew they would want drink after having spent months on little more than bitter water and bad beer. he took all of the drinks out at once this time, though the board weighed half as much as he did this time around, he hurried the drinks out so he could serve the captain. when he got back he pulled a bowel from a cubbard and poured chowder into it, he fetched a fresh loaf of bread, taking the rest of the stale back, and tore of a large chunk, he then quickly ran to the larder for a bit of cheese. when he had that all assembled he went out to the well and pulled from it fresh water too, he knew the captain did not drink anything his crew did and preferred cold water with mint in it to clear the taste even further. he pulled down an extra mug and scooped out top-water from the pail he grabbed some mint from his aunt's poultice drawer and crushed it in as fine as he could, little flecks of it floated to the top. he then unwrapped the pudding and cut a small slice out. he wrapped it back up so it would stay good and putting everything on his board quickly went out to deliver the captain his dinner |
( LMFAO. alright. xD I should have asked before to clarify how everything was set up! ) Roy smirked when he saw the boy bringing out food and beverages for him and his men. Not all of his men had come to the inn, though there was about a dozen in the building now. He wasn't too interested in the food or the beverages, Roy had his eyes on the boy. Though he would eat as any other man would be expected to, what man wasn't craving a home made meal after sailing the seas for months? It would seem odd for him to reject food and beverages without a second thought. Instead he would eat some of it, then say that he had spoiled his appetite before they arrived. His stomach was protest such things being consumed, he only really needed one thing. When the boy came out the second time he decided to speak to him. Roy didn't know him too well, but every time he came to the village he spoke a little bit to him. Though he didn't know his name yet. He could feel the boy's aunt staring at him, maybe she had noticed his eyes on the boy. His eyes were not filled with curiosity or simple interest, he was looking at the boy with lust. "I have come to the village quite a few times and have spoken to you before, but I never seem to get your name." he said then laughed. Roy thanked him when he set down a meal in front of him. He began to eat without hesitation, though he knew that he would regret it later sometimes food made him sick, though alcohol would not be a problem if he decided to drink for once. |
his eyes widened when the captain spoke to him. he shocked to say the least, though the captain spoke often and to anyone who'd listen he had never spoken to the youth before. '....damaris' he shyly whispered before speeding off back to the kitchen.
|
Roy laughed quietly to himself when the boy ran off after answering his question. He seemed rather shy every time that they spoke, Roy wondered if he was naturally like that or just shy because it was him who was speaking to the boy. "Damaris," he mumbled the name to himself, it was a nice name and it rolled off of his tongue. Roy looked over, if looks could kill then he certainly would be dead right now. The boy's aunt was giving him quite the look, she seemed to be overprotective of the boy and didn't like the way that Roy talked to him in a flirtatious manner or the way that he had been looking at him. Unlike the other villagers she continued to look at him, he would let her win this one. It was funny to see a woman who would give anything to give him a good smack across the face. Though he knew that she wouldn't try anything, Roy wouldn't tolerate such behaviour. He picked at his food for a little bit more, but then after a while his stomach could only take so much. "I spoiled my appetite," he mumbled quietly to himself. "I ate a bit before we came to the dock, I really shouldn't have, I apologize for wasting food." he added then smiled. Though the men who had come to the inn had finished everything on their plates and were asking for seconds already. |
the boy damaris came out again to collect mugs and the captain's dinner, the mugs were always empty but the plate was usually full, he could see a couple bites taken from his pudding and a little of the cheese was gone too but the rest remained mostly untouched. the captain had drunk the water though. he quickly went back to the kitchen to cut the pudding down refill glasses and get the apples. he knew men at sea often suffered for lack of fruit and his aunt always made him bring some out when they had it.
later when everyone had their fill and had wandered out to the festivities his aunt came to him in the kitchen where he was washing dishes 'you best not talk to that pirate, lad' auntie looked exceedingly sour today. 'he wants more than pudding and ale and i will not lose you to the sea like my brother' she made a face 'you leave the likes of him alone' she left him then to make up the cots for the men when they returned. he took her words into himself but he could not understand them. he knew nothing of his father other than he was the brother to his aunt and he left before damaris was born. he did not understand what she meant of the captain either, as far as he knew the captain would eat drink and stay in his quarters then go out at night to the houses of ill repute. he muddled over the words for the rest of the night all the way until he tucked himself into his pallet on the floor that night next to his sleeping aunt |
Roy really wasn't one to drink but he couldn't help but have a few drinks while attending the festival. Though he had sworn off drinking for the rest of the night it seemed that a pint here and there ended up in his hand one way or another. He kept to himself most of the night, avoiding the woman who had bothered him earlier. If he was drunk he might bring himself to knock some sense into her, he had quite the temper sober and alcohol only made it worse. That's why he had tried not to drink after he had his first few drinks, but that was the secret alcoholic in him that made him drink more... it was a nasty habit that he had been trying to outrun for years. After some hours he grew bored of the festival, all of the music and laughter, all of that constant noise, finally gave him a headache and he retreated from the festival. Perhaps having some time away from it would do him some good. Though shortly after deciding to rest nearby he instead found himself heading towards the inn, he had not seen the boy at the festival, it was rather disappointing. Perhaps he could find the boy in the inn and convince him to come out to play. When he reached the inn he stepped inside quietly, though his footsteps echoed in the now empty area. He stumbled a bit and nearly fell to the ground, Roy cursed himself under his breath. Why had he drank so much? His eyes wandered over the empty space wondering where the boy could be. He really wasn't too sure where the boy slept so he couldn't go to wake him. "Damaris?" he said aloud, he tried his best not to slur his words. Hopefully he wouldn't wake the aunt only the boy. |
his aunt stirred which is what roused him but the sound of his name is what woke him completely. he crept to the doorway to see who had called him so, hoping it was only his imagination
|
Roy smiled when the boy appeared, though he wasn't too sure if he could bring himself to the doorway. The boy probably slept in the same room as his aunt and he didn't want to speak too closely to the sleeping woman. Roy wanted to speak to the boy but not if it mean waking the damn woman, she would throw a fuss and drag the boy away from the conversation just as she had done before when he tried to speak the to the boy. "Hello," he said to him, though he spoke more quietly now then he had earlier. Roy titled his head, his eyes curiously wandered over the boy. "You don't have to be shy," he said softly, a smile remained on Roy's face. "May I ask why you are not at the festival?" he asked. |
he took a minute to answer 'auntie says i am to stay here and help and not to be carried away by the sea.' he poked his head out a little more to look at the other 'why are you here and not about town, you should be at the festival'
|
"You shouldn't let her make up your mind for you, how old are you boy?" he asked, Roy slurred his words a little bit as he spoke. It was hard not to when he had had so many drinks. "I got bored of the festival, the constant music and chatter..." he went quiet near the end of his sentence then cleared his throat quietly. "I was hoping to see you there, though you're not there so I came to look for you." Roy laughed quietly, he was trying his best not to be loud. The last time that he wanted to do was wake the woman in the other room. "You should... come with me to the festival, enjoy yourself rather than worry about work constantly. You're young and should be able to enjoy yourself.." |
'...a, a year to twenty...nearly a man' he felt odd saying that. he did not reply to the first or last bit though instead retreating further behind the door, his discomfort apparent. he did think his own thoughts but when he had none his aunt had two to spare and she had an uncanny knack for being right.
|
Roy raised an eyebrow as he noticed the boy discomfort. He smiled weakly in an attempt to calm his nerves. "Am I scaring you?" he asked, Roy felt brave as he stepped towards the doorway. Really he was risking waking that damn woman up though maybe if he was quiet enough then he wouldn't. "Pardon my behaviour," he mumbled quietly to the boy. Really Roy could be a lot more demanding that the boy should come with him to the festival or mean about the boy's behaviour. Though he held back any comments that he knew would make the boy want nothing to do with him further. He leaned against the doorway, his eyes wandered over the boy. "I get a little..." he paused trying to think of the right word but really he couldn't in his drunken stage. "Odd I suppose when I talk to someone who I have interest in." he smiled warmly at him. |
a little thrill went through him at the word. Interest. his mind went straight to sails and sea and salt and rope. he shook the thought from his head, surely not, he was not ignorant, this man, for at this point he could not be confused with a caption only a drunken man, was not offering to take him to sea. more likely he was wanting a drinking buddy or worse, he thought back to ceila his friend, her purposely thin skirts and constant undress. he was not for sale or free. he hid away behind the door wishing the scant few inches this pose allotted him were the entire of the world 'i think...interest from someone who is unable to offer it in the daylight hours may..may be something i am not interested in myself' he was surprised with the great plethora of words issuing from his mouth, only his auntie and before her his mother knew he was capable of forming sentences over ten words.
(sorry, i've been napping at my laptop for a couple hours^^: each time i woke up i looked at my rps and tried to go back to sleep for a while) |
( don't worry about it! xD ) Roy was a little surprised by the boy's behaviour, he had tried to be nice and had tried not to come off as a pervert. Then again his eyes continued to wander over the boy, curious of how he looked undressed. He had been resisting this entire time the urge grab the boy and bring him close against his own body. Though he had resisted such an urge because he didn't want to startle the boy he also resisted doing so being of the sleeping woman in the room. Perhaps he would come see the boy in the morning if he preferred such a thing, Roy didn't know. His mind was clouded with perverted thoughts and he smelled of rum. Maybe the best thing for him to do was to sleep though he was terribly hungry... "Perhaps I will just go to bed then," he mumbled quietly, he was disappointed that the boy had not decided to go with him to the festival. "I was going to show you my ship after we enjoyed some time at the festival... it was innocent really, I have no cruel intentions." he laughed quietly then stepped away from the doorway. "Though you must think otherwise... you're hiding from me. That's some how cute.." he smiled to himself despite the situation. He wondered if the boy would come now knowing that he could see the captain's ship. |
he started to fidget. he was sure by now that the other man's intention was not pure but the chance to see the judith up close was almost too much for him. he poked his head back around to look at the other, he meant to say that he wanted to see the ship but only in the morning, but all he could get out was 'judith?'
|
Roy hesitated to stop walking though he did, he looked over his shoulder at the boy and smiled warmly. "Yes, the Judith. Do you want to see it?" he asked curiously, would the boy come with his now? He turned, standing straight and keeping his arms to his side. He was afraid that even reaching out his hand to take the boy's hand in it would send the boy running back into the room. Despite his age was like a child... Easily frightened and curious. Roy wondered if the poor boy was kept away by his aunt so often that he barely socialized and never... in a way grew up fully. |
(you'll find out why i'm so sheltered a bit later, trust me i have a good reason)
he meant to say he did but only when the sun had risen and his aunt had woken, only when things were safe and he could be assured that nothing his aunt told him about pirates were true. instead all he did was nod a bit and clutch at the doorway. he desperately wanted to see the ship though. |
Roy smiled warmly at the boy and slowly approached him as if he were an animal. He didn't want frighten to boy more than he already had. He reached out his hand and took the boy's hand in his own. "Come then," he said softly then pulled the boy to follow him. "I'll let you see the ship for as long as you want to." he held the boy's hand gently in his trying to calm his nerves. When they reached the ship Roy could still tell that the boy was afraid, maybe he even regretted allowing him to drag him out to the ship. "Here," he said softly then let go of the boy's hand, he walked up a long plank of wood that connected the entrance of the ship to the dock. He stepped on to the ship and looked down at the boy. "If you really wish... any time you want to see the ship you may. It's my treat." he waited for the boy to join here. "Don't be afraid, I won't bite." he joked. |
he timidly went up the plank the light rock of the water putting him slightly off-balence, he made it to the top and stepped over the rail, he stood tall now in his mute excitement he forgot to slouch to hide his height. he stood slightly taller than the captain in his bare feet. it took him a minute of oggling the boat to notice it though but when he did an even more embarrassing thing occurred to him than his unsightly height. he was still dressed for bed, he had no shoes and no pants only his shirt undone tails fluttering in the breeze. he had let the other man drag him from his home without proper clothes! he turned to the other horror written all over his face
|
Roy had not allowed the boy to change because he didn't want him to change his mind about coming. He also didn't mind what the boy was wearing, the over sized shirt on him was rather cute. He was a bit surprised when he noticed that Damaris stood taller than him, he had not noticed earlier though he hardly did mind it. He was only a few inches taller than him, it wasn't that bad really. "What's wrong?" he asked softly, he approached the boy with warm smile. "Are you cold?" he asked. Roy was very close to him now, he wondered if it made Damaris feel uncomfortable. He brought a hand under the boys chin and titled his head upwards, it seemed as if Roy was about to kiss him. "I can keep you warm," he purred. He brought his other hand to the boys back and brought him close. Roy's hunger was unbearable now... though he would try to keep control over himself if he fed on Damaris. He didn't want to kill him... "Can you keep a secret?" he asked curiously, he brought the hand, his left, that was under the boy's chin to the left side of Damaris' neck. Roy brought his lips very close to the right side of his neck, his lips parted and he breathed out heavily. "You smell so.. good." he mumbled, Roy hesitated to bite the boy... something inside of him was telling him that it was wrong. |
(holds down backspace key)
'can you keep a secret' he shiverd lightly. something about the question struck a chord deep within him. he wanted to reply but the words were frozen in his throat. he began to feel strange, the other's words blurring into each other, he felt kind of warm then all went black (oh shit you killed him^^: ) |
Roy brought his head away from the boy's neck as he felt him go limp. He let out a heavy sigh realising that Damaris had fainted in his arms. "Damn..." he mumbled quietly, he kept his hand on the boy's back preventing him from collapsing to the ground. "What am I going to do with you now?" he asked himself, though he could think of many things that he wanted to do to Damaris. Roy shifted the boy in his arms and lifted him in them, he held him bridal style. The boy was taller than him but he was light in his arms. Really Roy was quite surprised with himself, he usually had no problem devouring anyone, even those who fainted before or during but right now he almost felt guilty for even thinking of doing such a thing to Damaris. What was happening to him? "I'll bring you home.." he mumbled quietly even though Damaris could not talk back. Hell even if the boy was still awake he probably would be silent. He felt like an idiot as he wandered into the inn. He had not thought about the damn sleeping woman, how would he get the boy into his bed safety without waking her up? With his luck she would wake up just as he went to leave the room though maybe she wouldn't wake up. He crept into the room silent, his eyes wandered over to an empty bed. Roy placed him gently on to it and brought the sheets over his body. His eyes shifted nervously over the room, the woman was still sleeping thankfully and perhaps the boy would think that he had had a dream when he woke. Roy left the room without hesitation if he lingered over the boys bed he thought that temptation would get the best of him. He returned to his room though he wished that he could bring Damaris with him. |
he had come to about halfway back but had no inclination to notifiy the other. he did however have time to ponder what had been said. ...a secret...he cursed his weakness, there was something important there, something he missed entirly. he regreted not being able to know, if only he had been stronger, if only he he...bt no, the other was so very close then, so warm against him. he felt faint again just thinking about it. he was ashamed then, to think he had ruined not only any chance to befriend this oddly compelling man but he had also been left with an unknown secret he would never find the answer to. he wished desperatly to be able to open his eyes and ask what it was the other had thought to tell him. instead he lay limp until he was laid down and the other stole away upstairs. turning then to his aunt he contemplated waking her. she knew all the answers to every question he had ever had, even before mother had died auntie had been his only real family, she was wise and educated, she had the ability to fix all manner of things from kettles to arms to disputes, but he had a feeling that even if she could explain to him what it was he could not understand she would most likely not. she hated men of the sea, pirates most of all. she would be no help. he turned away and tried to sleep.
he dreamed as if in a fever. everything was heat and teeth and running. bites and kisses and baring of teeth abound, it was red and black and everything ran together. he was running, running from that hungry mouth that would eat him whole. he fell. he was trapped! he woke up he lay there stock-still breathing heavily. his auntie had already risen, the fire stoked. he felt ill, this was not his usual nightmare. he quickly got out of bed and folded up his blankets, stowing them in the bed-box he quickly got dressed and went down to shore to collect the morning's mussels and driftwood. he said nothing. |
It was late in the afternoon when Roy finally woke from his almost enjoyable sleep. Though he had woken up to a nasty headache, his body was sore and his eyes felt heavy. It seemed that his body didn't agree with all of the alcohol that he had consumed, though a little hangover wasn't going to stop the man from ever drinking again. He rolled over on to his stomach and for a moment felt as if he was going to be sick. "Fuck..." he mumbled quietly and lifted himself from the bed slowly. Once he stood his stomach settled and perhaps when he ate he would feel even better. Roy was a bit angry at himself for bringing the boy back just as he had taken him from the inn. His body squirmed with excitement at the thought of taking from the boy, his lust for blood was unbearable. He couldn't go another night without feeding. If he couldn't have the boy despite him being so determined then he would have to settle for one of the other villagers. The thought of that was almost repulsive, he wanted Damaris. He wondered how sweet his blood would be. He hesitated to leave his room though he knew eventually he would have to leave. Roy was a little worried, he hoped that the boy wouldn't speak to him about last night. Perhaps he would just forget about it, Roy doubted it. He brought himself to the counter, he was very sluggish as he did so. "May I have some food?" he asked the woman, she shot him a dirty look though he knew she would give him whatever he wanted. Except for Damaris... |
he heard the man before his aunt did, a thump and shuffle over his head while the chowder was bubbling, he made a drunk's breakfast to help ease what was prolly a mallet to the head for the captain. he toasted bread slices in the ashes and pulled out a couple fresh eggs, he also went out back for more well water, he knew the captain would not like it, noone ever did, but he knew also that most men had the common sense to eat it anyway, the taste being less unappealing than the pain
|
( sorry this was short! ) Roy could smell the boy cooking and he wondered what it was. It didn't exactly have an attractive smell and he hoped that it would taste much better than it smelled. "What is he cooking?" he asked the aunt, though he didn't expect an answer. The woman rolled her eyes and told him that it was a breakfast for someone who had spent a night drinking. He wrinkled his nose in disgust, he wasn't looking forward to this meal. Well, he never looked forward to food at all but he did have a sense of taste. "That doesn't sound too good though I suppose I have no choice, do I?" he asked then laughed. The woman smiled at him though it wasn't a friendly smile, it was almost evil. |
he slipped through the door quietly balencing the glass of raw salted eggs the glass of boiled willow-bark 'tea' and the toast on a plate. it was a vile mixture butter and savory and slimy and dry all in one sitting but it was highly effective. he set it all down in front of the captian without once looking at him, his blush saying more than anything else. the boy hoped his auntie had not noticed him though he figured unless the captain did something to anger her it would not only be noted but later questioned. he left as quickly and silently as before but he hung out at the doorway and stared
(no worries) |
Roy's eyes followed the boy as he brought him what he had made. He wrinkled his nose in disgust, what was this? Though he looked back at the boy and smiled warmly at him, he knew that Damaris would not have made it unless he was concerned for Roy's health after drinking so damn much. He drank the beverages quickly without hesitation. If he stopped to taste it he knew that would be a horrible idea, it probably didn't taste pleasant and he would not even want to bother with it after. Roy gagged a little and almost felt as if he as going to be sick. He cringed at the after taste and shot the woman a dirty look when he heard her roaring with laughter. Then he took a sip of the other beverage, it was hot and he couldn't just chug it all down in one shot. He drew the glass away from his face and shut his eyes, he squirmed a little, it was horrible. When he finally finished the drink he began eating the toast, it was the only thing that he wanted to have really. At least his head had stopped pounding though he still felt rather sick. Roy would tell himself to never drink as much as he had last night again but he knew he would. He always drank a lot, it didn't matter how ill he became the day after. |
he cringed in sympathy as the other drank the tea, hot water and willow bark tasted awful as he well knew but it was a necessary evil and his aunt would have skipped the toast to boot. he looked at her as she laughed at the captian's distress, why she always did this he did not know it seemed odd to him the humor of it lost to him but he did not question it, it was the only time she ever did seem happy.
|
Roy finished the toast, he coughed violently it felt as if he was about to cough back up what he had just consumed. Though thankfully he didn't, he couldn't imagine how unappealing it would be for Damaris to see him be sick. He cursed under his breathe and closed his eyes for a moment trying to calm himself. His stomach sounded as if it was gurgling, perhaps he would try not to drink as much as he had last night. He laughed at that thought. When he opened his eyes they wandered over the Damaris who had been lingering by the doorway. He smiled warmly at the boy, Roy wanted to invite him to be beside him. He still had no clue if the boy remembered anything from last night or not. Though he couldn't bother the boy now, not when his aunt was around. He would have to wait for an opportunity. |
he blushed furiously, even through his tan it could be seen. he stumbled back into the safety of the kitchen his heart racing. he was not sure why that smile, one he had received many times from many a grateful body, not in the least from the captain himself, sent him whirling this time. he put his hand to his chest and hurriedly went back to his chores
|
Roy's eyes lit up when he saw the boys reaction to his gaze, his lips curled up into a smile and he chuckled softly to himself. What was it about this boy? He wanted him more than he had ever wanted another, it was rather odd. Perhaps it was how timid he was, it was cute. The way he reacted to how he looked at him and last night poor Damaris had gone limp in his arms from him being so close. Roy felt warm at the thought of holding him, he wanted to do it again though maybe he would be more slow this time. He didn't want Damaris to collapse and he only have a few more days to spend here before he continued to sail across the seas. A thought popped into his head though it was quite a dangerous one. What would Damaris say if Roy offered him a chance to sail across the sails in the Judith? He could offer him his own bedroom and he would spoil the boy certainly. Then again what if he became attached to the boy? He couldn't remember the last time that had happened, feeling so passionate with someone that he couldn't pry himself away from them. It was almost dangerous for him to fall in love. He wouldn't want to return him that would be certain and he knew that the aunt would have something to say about it. What the hell? Why was he so concerned about what she thought? He hissed under his breath, perhaps he was thinking too deeply about things. Roy lifted himself from his seat and tore away from what he had just consumed. It still had not settled inside of him and he had a feeling that he might suffer from indigestion later or even the next day. He looked over at the doorway that the boy had disappeared into he wanted to speak to him. He watched the aunt, she seemed busy enough and he slipped through the doorway without being spotted. Hopefully he could speak to Damaris for a bit before she came in herself and shooed him away like a damn animal. "Hell," he purred as he approached the boy. "What are you cooking?" he asked, his eyes went from Damaris to what he was preparing. It looked far better than what he had had. |
he jumped slightly at the sound of the other's voice, he had not heard anyone come in, not that anyone other than auntie ever did. he realized belatedly after a few moments he was expected to speak. '...um, chowder, and...and blood pudding' he tried not to look at the other though he could feel how close they were together, no more than a step or so apart. the odd feeling from the ship returned
|
"Oh," he said as the boy answered his question. Roy really wasn't interested in what he was cooking, he simply wanted to speak to him even if it involved something that he didn't care much about. He was quite an awful cook, he had hired some men aboard his ship to cook for him and the other men. "I'm a rather horrible cook," he said then laughed weakly. "I had to hire some men to cook for me and my men. I don't even remember the last time that I had cooked. It was many years ago, that's all that I can recall." he laughed again then looked up at the boy. Something inside of him stirred, he could see that Damaris would uncomfortable with him being so close. Roy took a step back reluctantly attempting to make Damaris feel more comfortable. "You wouldn't happen to be for hire would you?" he asked then smiled. |
he almost leaned back as the other moved away. he froze. he was more confused now than ever, this new feeling was too much too fast. he did not have time enough to think. he turned around and opened his mouth '......' he tried to say his aunt needed him and he surely was not a very good cook anyway and several other things. instead he said nothing, his mouth opened to poise the reply. he stared for a moment then realizing nothing had come out he closed his mouth with an audible click and turned back to the pudding, it needed to go into the ashes before the blood curdled and went sour.
|
Roy laughed softly at the boy's reaction or well his lack of one. "Why are you so shy around me?" he asked him curiously. It bothered him that Damaris could become so easily timid. He brought himself behind the boy and peered over his shoulder watching him cook, he almost looked interested. "That smells good," he mumbled quietly then smiled. His body was very close to Damaris' body and he didn't wish to move any time soon. |
