To some, this is hell. To others, this is the epitome of paradise.

War.

Asura, aloft with her beating wings, surveyed the surging riot from the sky. There was fighting as far as the eyes could see, stretching towards the horizons on either side. The figures on the ground seemed like ants from her viewpoint, but the vicious clang of sparking blades and the furious whirl of magic belied the insignificance, for below, the Loyalists and Rebels fought each other.

"This entire war is pointless," she hissed as she dropped lower and people began to notice. Neither side appeared to recognize her as arrows and spells from both ally and foe were hurled at her direction. "Why did I have to listen to that senile old worm? ... But there is no point in just watching, is there?"

An arrow whistled towards her that would have struck true, but she moved to the side and caught the arrow mid-air instead. A small smile curved on her face as she flipped the arrow and hurled it down like a knife to strike the back of a particularly troublesome magician who had attacked her earlier.

The cry that burst forth from the man's lips only heightened her amusement as she landed on the ground. She drew her swords, her eyes opened to show sharp shards of vermilion, and pointed them towards the Loyalists who had begun to surround her. "So... who's first?"

Before anyone could answer, her blades were already buried hilt-deep into the chest of her nearest enemy.

Open for posting. Beware of confusion, it's war after all.

Fight each other or fight a random foe, do try to respect each other even while in character.

Hermes 08-01-2011 03:55 PM

The being apparated behind Asura, careful as not to disturb her. He waved a hand behind her head, and the whispering started with a roar, a cacophony of voices. He chanted, and behind her, a Lantern shone. As she slaughtered those around her, he would collect, and guide.

Asura 08-01-2011 11:13 PM

Asura smiled up coyly, the very image of a shy young girl, at the dying man's face as he stared down at her in shock. Blood burst forth from his mouth in the same viscous manner as what flowed from the twin stab wounds on his chest.

"You did not search for Death," she said in a disappointed purr and leaned closer until she was eye-level to the man. "And yet he came for you anyway. You were not ready to abandon your life, and yet he reaches out his wretched hand and arrests your heart anyway. What an unkind acquaintance he is!"

Her gentle smile grew cold as she pulled both blades from her victim's chest and allowed him to fall to the ground in a dull thump. She flicked both swords to the side, splattering the already crimson ground with another layer. "Send Death my regards, fool. I look forward to having tea with him soon."

That said, she turned to her heel and was off like a quicksilver light through the labyrinth of war. She had many more messages to send to Death tonight.

Hermes 08-01-2011 11:17 PM

((And now I will be playing as Thran-Paul, my Lightning-mage/Tehcnosavant.))

Thran burst ont othe field of battle, levitating with Electic light and bolts pulsing around him, carrying him to the front lines. His eyes glowed bright orange and blue, and his face turned int oa deep scowl as he saw a man swing a lance at him. He sent a bolt through the man, and watched as he seized and crumpled tothe floor once it hit his heart. He saw something like smoke come from the man and fly behind a strange looking woman wielding two red swords. There was a peculiar lantern floating behind her, and the smoke seemed to be flooding into it from all around her, and it was as if she didn't see it.

He moved forward to investigate further.

He came up from behind her, simply because her back was to him, and called out.

"Oy! Hey, what's with the lantern...?"

Asura 08-01-2011 11:31 PM

Asura skidded to a stop when she heard someone address her. She pivoted sharply, swiped her left blade to cut deep into the throat of a very large Feryxonis who blocked her path, and jumped back as her victim crumpled to the ground. She slowly turned around to view another man, dressed in alien clothes, who held no weapons in his hands. Instead, she felt the sharp crackling of the static that charged the air about him.

A mage? Asura thought with annoyance. There are no enemies I despise fighting more than mages. "What sort of idiot would have a lantern lit in the midst of battle, fool? Only those who are trying to make a target of themselves would do something so ludicrous."

Hermes 08-01-2011 11:33 PM

Thran pointed to the lantern that seemed to be following the back of her head. He couldn't help but snicker at the sight. A blood-soaked woman dressed in white, with blood red swords and wings of black, the very image of war- with a funny little lantern behind her head that she was unaware of. It was just too good.

"Pfft there's a friggin lantern. Right there. I mean, seriously, RIGHT behind you." o.O

Asura 08-01-2011 11:51 PM

Asura glared once again at the idiocy of the situation. She open her mouth to release a particularly scathing reply, but she was stopped by a eerie fog that appeared to rise from the fresh Feryxonis corpse before her. "What in Braen's--"

The fog rose higher before turning into a thin stream that was quickly trapped by a brilliant light that Asura could now see shining over her head. She turned her face up to see what phenomenon was happening and grit her teeth in utter rage.

"A FUCKING LANTERN?!"

Hermes 08-01-2011 11:55 PM

Thran thought back, to the Taskal war, and remembered a being that had told him to call him Ever-Light. He laughed again, holding his chest, light and sparks fading as he lowered himself to the ground to be at base with the woman, and he was suddenly realizing that she was taller than him. Then again, 4'11" isn't very tall for a man, either...

"It looks like you were marked with an Ever-Light. No harm to you, but this should be fun. It just means that he thinks you're the most effective war machine out here, haha~ But seriously, what the hell is a girl like you doingout he-Oh holy hell." o.o

It finally occurred to him who she reminded him of.

"Shit, are you...Azura? Er whatever? Asuroo? No...was it Azeil? Yeah, that's your name! Right?"

Asura 08-02-2011 12:07 AM

Is this fool serious? wondered Asura as she felt her hackles rise at the butchery of her name and the mention of Azeil's. She stepped to the side as a female Loyalist tried to sneak up on her from behind. With a quick movement, she twisted her body and tripped the woman to fall over the corpse before them.

"I'm afraid you may have the wrong person, sir," said Asura as her eyes once again closed and her smile widened. She leaped on the struggling woman's back and slammed the hilt of her left blade viciously down upon the back of the woman's neck, shattering bones and nerves. When the woman grew limp and the same fog rose again, Asura continued to address the man. "I am merely taking a stroll down this field of flowers."

Hermes 08-02-2011 12:10 AM

He laughed, loudly, and smiled at the woman.

"Yep, you are DEFINITELY Asura~ It is a true pleasure to meet you."

Kaguya 08-02-2011 12:10 AM

Walked into the battlefield taking down her mask, with a sigh "No matter where the hell I go there are people slaughtering one another" she looked up to the sky "Are you trying to prove a point to me?" she growl as if talking to a higher power but sight shaking her head as she felt the movements of someone coming towards her and lowered her head quickly "fool" she say with a sigh watching as an Ascent male of the flame came running towards her

She looked to his shadow for a moment and watched as it took a different pose to the man making him stop in his tracks. remaining still for a moment she moved forward, coiling around him like he was her pray "I am not sure if today is your lucky day or the worst day of your life" she whisper into the man's ear as she continued to play with him like a worm at the end of a hook.

"Yes you are indeed lucky, others of my kind would take great pleasure in not giving you a swift death" she whisper to him quietly as she walked away his shadow making his hand move his own army as if by it's own. she heard the man calling out as he tried to get the movements to stop Pausing for a moment "You die of your own blade not of mine, feel fortunate" with that she walked off once more as she now heard the gargled scream of the man that seemed to others to have committed suicide in the middle of the battlefield "When will all the senseless killing end" she say silently, it was more like she was questioning herself

Asura 08-02-2011 12:17 AM

Yes, most definitely insane. Asura cocked her head to the side in confusion, but her grip on her swords only tightened. Her quiet voice was frigid as she stood up over the two corpses of her own doing. "I suppose there is no hiding it. But only fools and demons would willingly cross my path. And now that you have found me, what do you want?"

In the background, she heard a man scream but paid little attention.

Hermes 08-02-2011 12:24 AM

He pondered this for a moment, gauging what would get the best response. He got it~

He spread his arms wide, and grinned like an idiot, holding back laughter.

"I can have a hug?" ;W;

Asura 08-02-2011 12:29 AM

Asura's posture turned rigid as she stepped off the two corpses with a glacial expression. She took one glance at the man before hefting both the dead woman and the dead Feryxonis with her hands, raising them over her head.

"Gladly," she said with a laugh in her voice, but her expression remained bitterly cold and unamused. "Here, have a girl's hug... I even have a furry animal's hug to double your pleasure. Have fun with them."

She tossed both corpses towards Thran with a demonic snarl.

Hermes 08-02-2011 12:31 AM

"Sweet~"
He caught the bodies mid-flight with some lightning, then lifted his left hand that had a large gauntlet, with 8 shining orbs on it. The orange one began to glow, and pulse, and suddenly the bodies were ablaze, and soon turned to ash.
"Love the smell of corpses in the morning~"

Asura 08-02-2011 12:37 AM

Asura's left hand surrendered the kodachi it was holding to the right hand, allowing it rise and rub her aching temples. "This man is more insane than I originally thought. First lanterns, now burning corpses. I knew agreeing with the old man's deal was a mistake."

She turned on her heel and started to walk away, absently slashing those who tried to charge at her. "Well, have fun with your corpses, sir. I must break for tea."

Slowly, she raised a bloody hand in farewell before leaping into the air and taking to the skies.

((Dinnertime.))

Hermes 08-02-2011 12:38 AM

"Anytime~ Have a good time."

Asche 08-02-2011 01:43 AM

Asche flew over the front lines in Hawk form, he spied several rebels locked in combat with loyalist soldiers. He sped into a sharp dive at a soldier who was going in for the kill on a young rebel. Just before he contacted with the loyalist he changed form into a large bear, the soldier's eyes filled with fear as his body was crushed by the whole weight.

Asche transformed back into his normal form and rolled off the unconscious soldier, he shook his head and whispered to himself never to do that again. He looked up to see who his next opponent would be.

Espy 08-02-2011 01:26 PM

Espy blinked twice. She was sure she'd just seen a bear fall from the sky, or an eagle change into a bear, or an eagle crush a human... She rubbed her eyes. She must be getting tired...

But there was still work to do. Ducking a swinging blade that had appeared out of nowhere, she jammed the butt end of her stave into a soldier's ribcage, then pulled her blade from its sheathe and slit his throat, dodging the spray of blood. Eurgh. Poorly armed and armored.

She rifled through his pouches and stuffed a few gold coins into her pocket, then wiped the dagger on the man's shirt. By the time she looked up, the bear -- or hawk -- was gone. ...So weird.

Iseiah 08-02-2011 10:07 PM

Iseiah walked onto the Front Lines slowly and methodically, waiting for his sparring partner to make her all-but-subtle appearance. His muscles were tense with anticipation and his eyes scanned the battlefield for any sign of her approach, but he could find none. Relaxing a small bit, he leaned against a battle-scarred boulder and counted down until the time they would finally meet.

Asura 08-02-2011 10:43 PM

"If I didn't know any better, I would say you were waiting for someone, sir," said Asura as she looked down upon Iseiah from her perch atop the boulder. She has never conversed with this particular member of the Rebel faction--not that she had really conversed with any of them--and their communications were often limited to a quick nod or a sharp glare.

But despite that, the purity of his strength was unlike anything she has ever seen.

She did not know what to think of it.

"It is rare that I see you in the front lines, Iseiah."

Iseiah 08-02-2011 10:56 PM

He was surprised, but only for a moment. Clearly this... Asura was a more capable opponent than he had at first realized. How she got upon the boulder he had surveyed just minutes before was a mystery to him and he didn't like that one bit. He reminded himself to be cautious and bartered back with a quick reply, "Well, I have been training many of the new recruits we have acquired. It's a hard job, but without proper training, they cannot hope to have a chance against such... powerful odds."

He turned to face her more clearly and smirked. "I am glad that after all this bartering back and forth, we will finally get to have our little... match. Are you sure you want to do this?"

Asura 08-02-2011 11:10 PM

"Perhaps you do not know me very well," said Asura as she jumped from the boulder, unsheathed her swords and turned to face Iseiah. "Regardless of the opponent, I will not turn down a fight. Do not think too badly of me if I accidentally kill you in the process."

She paused for a moment as she surveyed his weaponless hands. Her eyes fully opened but quickly slit down to a harsh glare. "Unless you're a mage."

Her formerly attacking posture shifted to a defensive one.

Iseiah 08-02-2011 11:16 PM

He couldn't help but laugh, "Don't worry, Asura, beyond a few mental abilities and minor healing talents, I'm helpless in the realm of magic." He shifted to a defensive posture as well, mirroring her movements as best as he could. He had trained for this, and was not going to let anything distract him from his goal.

"After the battle is over, one of us may not leave the field in one piece... but that's the thrill of battle, is it not?" His muscles tensed and he switched his arms for a more defensive block. "I do not wish to harm you beyond recognition, but if you leave me no choice, then so be it."

He looked across the battlefield and saw recruits he had trained. Some of them had improved greatly, slaying those who stood in their way. Those who had not received enough training were cut down easily enough. He sighed, his surveying complete, and did a back flip to increase the distance between him and Asura.

Asura 08-02-2011 11:23 PM

"Yes, it is certainly a pity that one of us may not live to see the end of this war," she smiled as she sped forward, the ribbons of her laurels lashing the air like whips. "Oh! But I can't die. I suppose that just leaves one possibility, doesn't it?"

Asura struck with her right blade, but Iseiah's flip had given him enough distance to nullify the attack. She sped forward again, glee lighting up her expression like a child during their birthday. "It was not an utter waste to listen to the old codger, after all. If it will allow me to face those like you in the battlefield."

Iseiah 08-02-2011 11:28 PM

It was lucky that he had moved back, because Asura moved with the speed of something supernatural. Her speed, combined with her blades, made her a more formidable foe than he had faced before. His muscles tensed as he worked on dodging her vicious blows one at a time. He gasped as he quipped back, "Well, I can't die either. I have something important to live for, and you're not going to be the one to take that from me!"

He tensed his legs and jumped up in the air as high as he could, which, through his training, was ten or so feet. While in the air he concentrated as hard as he could and sent a mental blast at Asura. Her mind was strong, but all he needed was a moment of hesitation to get in a strike. "Come on, blast, do your worst!"

Asura 08-02-2011 11:36 PM

Asura stopped completely where she stood as a pounding headache started from her forehead that radiated back. She momentarily let down her guard, dropping her left hand down to her side while the right went up to her temple.

But even through the intense, spreading pain, she kept both of her eyes steadily fixed on Iseiah, not betraying an ounce of the true agony she felt. "If you think you little mind tricks will work on me, think again, fool. There is nothing I want that you can possibly give, so keep protecting what you think is precious while you still have the arms to hold them."

With a fierce cry, she fought through the pain and launched herself in the air, headed straight for Iseiah.

Iseiah 08-02-2011 11:50 PM

Damn! I expected resistance but that was one of the strongest blasts I can do! What am I going to do?! He thought as she sped towards him clearly pissed off. He concentrated and let his body fall closer to the ground so that Asura missed him. He pulled out his emergency weapon, an extendible bo staff made of a metal stronger than steel. He didn't like to use it unless it was an emergency, but clearly this was one.

He landed as lightly as he could, minimizing any injury he would have received. Even so, he winced and had to take a moment to recover.

"I'll have arms until I cut them off myself, Asura!" He yelled, launching at the supernatural force before him with his staff ready to smash her. "Take this," he yelled as he lashed out at her.

Asura 08-03-2011 12:00 AM

Asura grit her teeth as her eyebrows furrowed with slight worry. As much as she would like to pretend that it did not faze her, Iseiah's forced entry into her mind compromised her balance.

I hate magic and mental attacks! she snarled in her fogged mind, cursing her lack of defense to them as she quickly crossed her arms over her face to block the downward sweep of Iseiah's bo staff. It hit with such a force that shocked Asura enough to force her to take a step back to brace herself. But this man is a very strong fighter, stronger than most I have faced. But he is no way strong enough to defeat me.

She flipped her blades to face inward while her arms were still crossed. In a split-second, she sliced them down far enough to bury themselves a centimeter deep into the metal weapon, locking both Iseiah and herself in place. "You are a very interesting man, Iseiah. Few are able to surprise me like this."

Iseiah 08-03-2011 12:13 AM

He took the compliment with a grain of salt, as knew interesting to her meant a challenge... and no one challenges Asura, especially on her battlefield. He smirked and tried his best to look confident as replied, "Why thank you. I offer the same to you. It's not often my enemies survive my mental blasts, yet it barely phased you."

He looked at his bo staff, the strongest metal he knew of had been easily pierced by Asura's daggers. Unless he let go of his weapon and showed weakness, he didn't know how he was going to get out of this deadlock. He quickly shifted his hands, preparing to spin the staff and disarm Asura. His muscles tensed, waiting for her to try and make the slightest move.

Asura 08-03-2011 12:18 AM

Asura continued to stared at Iseiah calculatingly amidst their deadlock. Neither one dared make the first move, for both knew that it would start their fight anew. After several minutes of no movement despite the churning battlefield that raged about them, Asura smiled cheekily.

"Care to join me for some tea when we return to base?"

Iseiah 08-03-2011 12:27 AM

He almost died laughing. After all this, she was asking him to come have tea with her. Whether this was a plan to silently eliminate him, he did not know, but he decided to trust her for the time being. He sent a pulse through his weapon which gently removed her lodged blades from his staff, and he back flipped again to give them conversation room.

"Are we going for tea now, or shall we continue our sparring?" He smiled and dropped to a simple defensive pose.

Asura 08-03-2011 12:32 AM

Asura gave him a scandalized look as she slowly walked back to camp, only half-paying attention as she slashed at those who got too close. "You must be a bit daft to think I have to choose between the two. Tea first, fighting resumes immediately after... or during if the mood strikes me."

Asche 08-03-2011 12:35 AM

Asche had been keeping an eye on the fight between Asura and Iseiah incase he needed to interfere because someone got carried away. Seeing that both became interlocked by their weapons he pushed two random soldiers out of the way rushing forward until her heard Asura remark.

"Care to join me for some tea when we return to base?"

Asche shook his head and ran his blade through an approaching loyalist, sidestepping others locked in battle shaking his head.

These people are insane.

Iseiah 08-03-2011 12:37 AM

"Well, you ARE certainly the ultimate multitasker," he quipped as he followed her through the throngs of battling people. As he followed her deeper and deeper into the crowd, he had to punch and kick a few people out of his way, but he managed to follow her to camp.

"So, THIS is camp, is it?" he questioned her as they approached what he thought was the camp she had mentioned. "It's very... odorous and painted a lovely bloodstain red. Where shall we be having our tea, Asura?"

Asura 08-03-2011 12:44 AM

Asura took out a small mirror from her corset and hissed into it. "You have two minutes or fingers will begin to fly, worms." She returned the mirror and smirked as dark shadows began to clear out a space underneath a maple tree. A tea set and tray of cakes seemed to appear out of thin air and settled invitingly under the tree. "That looks like a good place as any. Now you will have to tell me about that mental attack that you did. I've never had anyone break past my defense like that..."

((I have to end here for tonight. Bath time.))

Iseiah 08-03-2011 01:00 AM

((Okay, we'll pick up here later!))

Iseiah was impressed. Though he did not admire her particular level of bloodthirstiness, she DID get results and was quite a formidable fighter. He followed her to the tree, and though people brushed passed him in the greatest of haste, he held his ground and followed Asura to the tree she had pointed out. It was then he saw the tea set appear, and he settled down on one side of it, allowing Asura to have the other side.

He smiled and replied to her query, "Well, I've been able to do it since I was really little. I had tons of terrible headaches as a child, but that was because my mental powers were untamed. One of the people in my hometown had seen this before, and was able to help me focus my powers. At first, I could do little more than remove the headache from my mind, but I soon progressed. Now, I have minor psychokinetic abilities as well as the ability to shoot telepathic blasts. While my weaker blasts can stun enemies, my stronger blasts usually either kill or severely cripple my opponent. When their mind is exceptionally strong, however," he motioned at Asura, "such as your own, they merely are only apparently inconvenienced. You are the first to show such composure."

He sipped some tea and composed a question for Asura, "Those daggers you wield... they were able to pierce my bo staff. No one has ever done that before, and yet you did with ease. Are those daggers enchanted, or are you just THAT strong?"
