The soda fountain
This is a roleplay for me and a couple other people. They know who they are. *nods*
---------- The building is quiet this time of night. Most of the normal customers are at work or at home eating dinner with their families. Only two people managed the soda and snack sales behind the glass bar since it wasn't busy. Checkered tiles covered the floor and quaint red and brown booths lined the walls. --------- Winter walked in and sat at her favorite booth in the corner. She'd order a tasty lemon bar in a moment but for now she wanted to wait for her friends. She found herself twiddling her snow white pony tail while she stared out the window at the fresh spring leaves on the trees. |
Airi walked in then turned to find where Winter was sitting. She saw and waved then walked up to the front to order a diet coke with lemon. As she got the drink she walked over to winter and sat down. She sniffled a little, "wow these allergies are just killing me." She dug around in her purse and pulled out some allergy medicine. She deftly opened the bottle and put the pill into her mouth and took a swig of the diet coke leaning against the leather cushion of the booth.
"Are you allergic to the pollen? I have a harder time around fall." *Winter sighs and snuggles into her seat* "So, see any good movies lately? I just can not decide what to do this weekend." *she smiles hopefully at Airi*
"Movies... right now I don't have enough money to go see a movie... and yea the pollen has been killing me." Airi sighs and slowly drinks more of the coke trying to calm down.
Dolly sauntered inside. She glanced around as she approached the front counter and nearly overlooked the other two girls due to the combination of exhaustion and the grease high from her dinner of burgers. After getting her order of a large Mountain Dew to combat her need for sleep, she shuffled over to the girls and slid in beside them, her head falling forward and banging to a stop on top of the table. "So tired... Need caffeine injection..."
Airi watches as Dolly slides in beside her. "Dolly, I thought we told you that you need to sleep, not just live off of your mountain dews..."
Dolly's head came up enough to speak and sip at her drink. "It's not just Mountain Dew. There's coffee, Coke, Vault, Monster, Wired, Rockstar, Amp, Max Velocity..." She trailed off, feeling a bit too much like a spokesperson for caffeinated beverages, and too much like she was counting sheep. "What'd I miss anyway?"
Airi's mouth dropped. "Dolly! You really need some actual sleep! Not just caffeine! What has been keeping you up?"
Winter perked up and leaned over to Airi, "i bet she's been out partying."
The door to the soda shop rattled, then opened slowly, Fey rubbing her nose and tucking a book into her purse. "Why, when I'm reading do I forget that this is a pull door and not a push?" Settling into a chair she ordered a brown cow, "Cupcake, you can have all my caffeine. I don't want it, nor do I think anyone else wants me to either."
Dolly jerked her head up when she was spoken to, not having realized that someone else had sat down. "Really?" her eyes shined, and she threw herself onto Fey for a gigantic hug, giggling uncontrollably.
Airi places a hand on Dolly's arm, "I think you've had enough caffeine for the next month... How about you actually try going to sleep? That might help. But it is going to be really hard as you go through withdrawals." Airi patted Dolly's head and sat back sipping at the coke.
Winter sits up straight in her seat and clears her throat. "I think - we should go on an adventure. That would help everyone out."
"Wait you mean, go outside? With my allergies, I think not..." Airi slouches in the booth trying to make Winter forget that she is here.
Echo-chan walks into a soda fountian to be relaxed from the stress from the outside, the bell rings on top of the door, by the looks inside seems to be busy with lots of chattering mouths as well as laughs and giggles.
Echo shuffles her beaten converse shoes over to a vacant seat in the fountain; she starts to remove her backpack from her slouched back, taking out her binder with her imagination inside. They can be better, for some people thinks that she is talented when really she just practiced. |
"We could get you an inhaler!" *nudges Airi encouragingly*
Airi lets her head fall onto the table. "I don't know...."
Dolly stopped her glomping session long enough to chug the rest of her soda. If there was one thing she despised, it was warmth and flatness in her beverages. She jerked slightly, and seemed suddenly more energetic. "Come on, Airi! We can put you in a giant bubble and roll you around!"
Airi sighs and looks around. "Why on earth does everyone want me to be put into a bubble?"
The hearing about bubbles interested Echo, she's mildly listening to the conversation while drawing. A Soda Jerk asks her what she wanted to drink, all she can have at that point was water and that what she ordered.
Airi sighed and looked out the window wishing she could be in the library surrounded by books.
Downing part of her brown cow Fey grinned, "I can beat the bubble, I carry extra strength antihistamines...they could probably cure most anything. Allergies are gonna get nuked by 'em." Rummaging around in the massive tote bag she has she starts piling books on the counter. After half a dozen she pulls out a large mint tin and opens it to reveal a plethora of pink tablets. "Benedryl, professional strength."
Airi leans against the side of the booth. "Are you trying to put me in a coma?? Benadryl makes me fall asleep for at least 10 hours...."
"Hey, you just said no allergies, not that you wanted to be awake for the next week," tucking them away and pulling out another tin. "Clariton, Tavist-D and Dayquil, what can I say, I travel prepared, I a have another of pain-killers and one of vitamins." Digging into her bag she pulls out a nalgene bottle of water and a bottle of pedialyte. "In case of Adventure and dehydration."
Dolly watched the books piling up and the pile of pills with fascination. "Wow, looks like you've got a whole party in that bag! Can I have some?" She batted her eyelashes innocently.
Blinking owlishly at Cupcake, "Some what? Did all the caffeine give you a headache? I can fix that!" Offers the bottle of water, "It'll help, promise." Tucking the book back in Fey's bag magically seems no different.
Echo peers over to see all of the pretty soda design and wondered upon 2 things: How much it costs or whether it would be worth it in matter of quantity? Then she looks around for a Soda jerk and asks him for an Orange soda (if they still have it) and they do. So she ordered one, he gracefully dug some ice in the glass cup not too full just half way and pulls the orange lever. Echo's more paying attention to him than what she has in front of her. After he filled the orange drink he puts in a straw and sits the drink on the coaster. "Have a nice day" he says all she can think of is general "You too".
Dolly giggled and shook her head. "Never mind, Feyfey! But speaking of caffeine..." She ordered another drink and wiggled energetically in her chair when it arrived, rubbing her face on it lovingly before starting into it.
"Oooooooookay then," rehousing the water bottle in her bag she looks around. "I like the decor, but you'd think it's be busier 'round this time." Sucking down the last of her drink she clutched her head and groaned, "Ice cream headache!!!"
Airi laughed at Fey as she grabbed her head in pain. She saw everyone looking at her and covered her mouth trying to stop laughing. "Sorry y'all I should probably be getting some sleep soonish. I've been going on like nothing lately. But oh well. People think it's funny. I will just ramble on and on or do something really really stupid, oh wait... I'm rambling aren't I?" She looked down at the table sheepishly. She picked up her napkin and slowly started to tear it into small pieces feeling everyone looking at her. "I don't mean to do that, I just do.... I just get lost in the moment...." She let her voice trail off as she sank farther down into the booth pulling her iPod out of her bag and put her headphones in. She turned on some Vitamin String Quartet to help her calm down. She slowly drank more of the diet coke letting the fizz flow down her throat. Her phone buzzed and she quickly looked down at it and responded before anyone had said anything.
She quickly glanced around the little shop and noticed someone sitting up at the bar by herself. She wondered to herself why she was there by herself, this place was normally filled with different groups... And yet this girl seemed to want to be alone. She saw her slowly sipping at the orange soda float that the soda jerk had made her and Airi slowly started trying to figure out the girl's story, or at least what she thought of it in her mind. She rested her head into the palm of her hand letting her head loll to one side and looking outside instead of staring at the girl. She wouldn't want anyone to notice her staring. She noticed some guys walking outside and soon got distracted by a bird. She looked down at her phone as it buzzed again and quickly responding sighing. She then realized that everyone was still staring at her. She blushed slightly and sank farther down into the plush leather of the booth. |
Winter laughs, "whose on the phone!" She giggles and wiggles in her seat.
Airi looked up at Winter unsure of what to say, "It's just a friend of mine..." She trailed unsure of what else to say. "Well how's everyone doing today?"
Winter leaned over encouragingly, "my curiousity will consume me. So yeah guys I was thinking we should go outside -- and I don't know. Maybe to the park or something fun like that."
Leaning back to look over at Winter, "Sounds like fun! Well, the park, not the consumption by curiosity...which I suppose consumption is better than death...." Closing her mouth and looking innocent Fey blinks a couple times then looks back at her nearly gone drink.
Dolly watched them all speak for a few long moments, too busy keeping the straw from her drink in her mouth to join in the conversation. When she finally did attempt to say something, it was through a mouthful of soda, which she choked and sputtered on. After coughing uncontrollably for a bit she managed to gasp, "I'd love... to go outside..." She kept coughing as she grabbed both her cup and Fey's and went to refill them both.
