With alert ears, the grey furred creature remained crouched low in the dense forest brush. Her blue eyes watched her prey closely as it grazed peacefully. The strange beast[green skinned] she was hunting was quite a bit larger than herself. It was rather dog-like with a long muscular tail that had a diamond-like tip. The black spots on it's green hide helped to break up it's form and made it hard for normal creatures to spot it. However, it did not hide it from her.
She licked her lips a bit, her bright blue tongue glowing a bit in excitement. This was just too easy. She crept forward a bit when it's back was facing her; but halted as it's head suddenly raised. Her own ears were swiveling about, listening for what surprised it as it ran off. |
A black hared elf walked into a big tent, "Ex-..excuse me my lord." The elf said with a bow.
"Yes Laramaov, what is it?" A white hared elf asked as he turned around. "The hunting party is ready for you." The black hared elf said still bowing. "How many times do I have to tell you that I hunt alone?" The elf said as he made darkness crept closer to the black hared elf. "No sire, please forgive me. Lord Niku please." Laramaov said nervously. "This is your last warning Laramaov, if you disobey me one more time I will kill you." Niku said as he pulled the darkness away. "Now leave before I regret my decision." He said shoeing the elf away. He turned back around to get his bow and hunting equipment together. Niku quickly ran out of his tent, he found the perfect place to hunt and hide in a tree. He drew his bow as he heard some rustling on the ground. |
She raised her head, ever so slightly, looking up in the trees, hearing movement up above. It didn't take her eyes long to spot the source. She couldn't help but let out a low growl. An elf. Of course. The bastards always ruined her hunts. She could never get far enough away from them. She crouched low in the brush, her form mostly hidden from the dark elf's vision.

A frown came over Niku's face, "Damn." He thought to himself. He quickly jumped down from the tree, and scanned the clearing. He closed his golden eyes and sighed, as he scanned the area. He was using the tree's to help him, his skin quickly flashed to a high elf's color. He opened his eyes and fell to his knees clutching his head in pain, "No go away." He said as he heard the trees talking to him. He pulled out his knife and threw it at a fish that jumped out of the small pond. "I'm not a high elf, I am a dark elf. So leave me alone tree's." Niku said as he stood up and dived into the pond to find his fish.
"But you are the one who used us, for your own gain." A voice boomed as Niku surfaced. "I don't want this, I don't want to feel the burden of you tree'." He said as he got out of the pond. "You are denying who you are. You are meant to be a high elf, not this." The voice boomed again. "Just leave me alone." Niku said as he cut some wood from a tree. "Wolf creature, if you want some fish, you will have to come out." He said as he glanced behind himself to the bushes. |
She let out a snort raising her head and standing up. What? She didn't take freebies. She snorted again, shaking her head; insulted. Her tail swayed around behind her a bit, knocking the branches of the brush away from her. She would love to give him a piece of her mind, but with the Wolves being unable to use telepathy, she couldn't express to him exactly what she thought about his stupid handouts. She opened her mouth a bit with a slight growl, her tongue glowing bright as always, lighting up the inside of her mouth as she did so.

Niku sighed as he started a small fire to cook the fish. He quickly dissected the fish and put it over the fire. He sat down cross legged as he waited for the fish to be done.
"My lord?" Laramaov yelled as he walked into the woods. Niku quickly stood up, he grabbed the fish and doused the fire. He ran towards the wolf creature, and threw down the fish. "Enjoy." He said as he ran farther into the woods. "My lord he is here to see you." Laramaov said as he came to the clearing. "Sire?" He asked as he heard some rustling from farther into the woods. |
Awèsyiss was taken aback. What was with this elf? With a snort, she ignored the fish and trotted off. She would not take freebies. The tip of her tail curled slightly as she moved through the dense brush. She wasn't really aiming for any place in particular, but when she began to hear voices, she paused, tilting her head. She glanced around and stalked towards the source. She growled a bit as she came close, then back away. Damn elves.

Suddenly another elf appeared in front of Niku. "You always try to run away from me Niku, and it never works." The blonde hared man said putting his hand on Niku's shoulder. They quickly disappeared.
Before Niku could say anything he was back in his tent. He looked around and then back at the man. "What do you want father?" He asked crossing his arms. "You already know the answer to your question. I am dieing Niku, and you are the one who need's to take over for me." The man said looking into Niku's golden eyes. "No father, I am a dark elf. Dark elf's cannot control High elf's unless we conquer them, which you already know that." Niku said looking away. "You are not a dark elf, the tree's told me you have been using them. You are talking to them, only high elf's can speak to the tree's. I also see that your skin is lighting up, you are going to regress." The man said grabbing Niku's arm, and examining it closely. Niku pulled his arm away, "No father! I want you to leave, now!" He said as he walked out of his tent. He grabbed a dark elf's arm, "Make sure they leave, or I will kill you." He said as his golden eyes flickered in the moon light. He walked over to the edge of the platform and sat down. "What are you doing here wolf?" |
Awèsyiss snorted once more, "I'm insulted. I am not one of those dimwitted creatures." She looked away, licking her lips with her oddly glowing tongue. She sat down in her spot, a few yards away from the dark elf, her tail flopping around rather loudly on the ground. She knew she should just go away, he was an elf after all. Elves were enemies of her kind; the dragons. Dark elves weren't as against dragons as High Elves, but they were still elves nonetheless.

"I'm sorry, I'm Niku. What is your name?" Niku asked closing his eyes. He sighed when he felt his father disappear, "Finally." He said looking at the creature. "I don't wanna be the leader of my father's clan. The high elves are too set in their ways, like the way they think of dragon's." He said with a sigh. "Listen to me I sound like a high elf." Niku said with a small smile.

Awèsyiss tilted her head a bit, "I knew something was off about you, you were once a High Elf, weren't you. Ahh, that makes sense." She lifted her hand bringing her index finger and her thumb together, as if picking dirt from her claws, "I don't think you really care for my name. You may be a dark elf, but you're an elf nonetheless. I shouldn't even be talking to you; you are the enemy after all."

"Yes I was, but I..." Niku trailed off not wanting to say the reason why he turned. "Um, well if you wish to go I'm not going to stop you." He said as he felt the wind blow. The wind was saying something, his skin flashed to high elf color. "Stop." Niku said grabbing his head.

Awèsyiss chuckled slightly, "You're a very strange man, Niku." She stood, stretching out a bit, "I'm surprised, though. You obviously know that I am not a wolf in the slightest." She looked over at him, a bit of a 'high and mighty' expression about her, "Yet you don't attack me. Is that because you know I would decimate you?" Her jaws opened slightly, a barking laugh escaping her mouth, "Yes, that must be it. One little elf cannot handle a dragon by his lonesome."

"No it's not that, I have no reason to hate your kind. You have never done anything to me." Niku said pinching his nose. "Life is too much about hate, in my 1,000 years my father's clan has gone to war multiple times. Over something that could be solved with an apology." He said leaning back on his hands.
"I-..I'm sorry to bother you sire, but we need to talk about your fathers offer." Laramaov said nervously. Niku sighed, "There is nothing to talk about, and if you do not like my decision. You are free to leave." He said as he pulled darkness in. Laramaov felt a chill coming over him. "Your right sire, I'm sorry." He said as he skittered off. Niku sat forward, "Laramaov wants war. I can not have that." |
Awèsyiss eyed the new elf with a sadistic grin, "I could...you know...take care of him?" She licked her chops, "I hear from the others that Elves are rather tasty, especially the young ones." She winked flicking her tail across his head slightly, "Why do you guys hate us? We've done nothing against you until you all started this stupid war. Because of you guys, I'm forced to watch my back every minute of the day. I can manipulate my appearance to keep me safe from glances, but upon closer looks, I am obviously not a wolf." She faced him, lifting her paw to show it's five-fingered structure, "I don't think hands are characteristics of Wolves, neither are elongated tails. So tell me, little elf, how do you propose to fix this mess?"

"If you wish, he really is of no use to me." Niku said waving his hand. He waited until Laramaov was out of earshot, "I would not know that answer, this war was started before I was born." He said rubbing his head. "I have an idea, but I can't commit to it. I need to do some research, but I can't get into the Ancient library. Because I am not a high elf." He said pinching his nose again. "My father says my skin is lightening up, but it could be months before I turn back fully. I don't even know why I am in the first place." Niku said somewhat depressed.

She twisted her body, her nose inches from his face, "Research? On what? Perhaps, I could be of assistance?" She grinned a bit, her tongue glowing brightly from behind her pearly white teeth. She ran her tongue over her teeth, a dastardly plot forming in her head as she swiveled her body to be facing him; then sat down.

"To find out who was the elf that started the war. So I can track him or her down to ask them why they started this war." Niku said looking up at the sky. "The thing is I'm not sure if I want to be a high elf again. Everything that is around us, speaks. And elves can't block it out, it tends to be quite annoying." He said looking back down at the dragon. "Do you have a nickname or something? I feel odd not knowing your name, when you know mine." Niku said looking into her blue eyes.

Awèsyiss put her finger to her chin, "I suppose you can call me Awèsyiss...or any other nickname you can conjure up. I don't care." She flexed her toes in the ground for a moment, "As for who started this war, you don't have to worry about finding him. He died years ago." She sat a bit more smugly, rubbing her knuckles on her chest, "He had it coming to him."

"Well then Awèsyiss, it is nice to fully meet you." Niku said said with a smile. "That may be true but his journals might be of some use to us." He said with a little sigh. He pulled on his pants and crossed his legs. "I should probably go and work on a plan." He said closing his golden eyes. "Want to help?" Niku asked opening his eyes.

Awèsyiss tilted her head, thinking slightly, "I don't know why you'd really want my help, but I've got nothing better to do with my life. After all, if you're not the one who kills me, some other elf will manage it." She shrugged her shoulders a bit, "If you are opposed to this why, why keep company with those who support it? I don't quite understand the logic behind it."

"Actually most of my men are against it as well. There is a few here who want to kill all dragon's, but they would never go against me." Niku said with a small evil smile. "It is a little funny, most are scared of me. Just because of a few tall tales." He said as he stood up. "Laramaov is scared of me and also hates me. I find it rather entertaining." He said ushering Awèsyiss up onto the platform. "If anyone insults you, feel free to kill them." Niku said with a smile.

Awèsyiss chuckled, waving her hand slightly in a pass, "You elves are such prudes~ Can't handle a little dirt under your butt." Her tail flicked rather quickly to the side, "I will not hesitate on that, I'm sure you already knew that though." She stood once more, this time in front of him, poking him lightly on the chest with her claw, "You owe me a meal, by the way. You scared off my prey when you climbed up that tree; very noisily I might add."

"We are, but what do you expect? Most of us elves are used to fine things." Niku said with a shrug. He laughed, "Sorry about that, I was a little perturbed." He said shaking his head. "Wanna try elf? Laramaov would probably be the best, he is the youngest here. Do you like your meat raw or cooked, or doesn't it matter?" Niku asked walking towards his tent.

She chuckled, following along behind him with a bounce to her walk. "Hmm..he did look delicious~ I just hope he isn't a screamer~ Where might I find this delicious meal?" She kept the glow in her eyes and tongue low, still wary about being in an Elven camp. She followed him into his tent, sitting in one corner and out of the way, "Or you could be so kind as to bring him here~"

Niku smiled as he entered his tent, "He will be here in a moment." He said as he grabbed a painting a wrapped it up. "Don't want it to get dirty, I haven't fully finished it yet." He said as he placed it on his bed.
The black hared elf walked into the tent, "Is there anything you need before you rest?" He asked with a small bow. "Yes, you not to scream." Niku said as he nodded to Awèsyiss. He quickly took off his gear and hung it up. |
Awèsyiss grinned, her lips pulling away from her teeth to reveal the glow from her tongue, "You're too kind 'Ku~" She crouched down a bit before leaping forward, her massive body pouncing the slim elf and sending him to the ground as her jaws clamped around his head. She quickly bit down, crushing his skull with ease and a rather sickening noise. The poor elf never stood a chance. She remained on top of him as she worked to break away the bones from his skull to get at his brain, "You always eat the brain first, to ensure your prey is dead. Then you may savor the rest of him~"
She pulled away a rather large chunk of his face, using her dexterous fingers to move away the bits of bones from his face. "Ah ha~ Gold~" She gently plucked his brain from his skull, being careful to not smash it before placing it in her mouth and biting it in half. She quickly swallowed the piece before devouring the other half. "You're rather strong in the stomach. You prudes are often offended by 'our savage eating habits'." She chuckled gnawing on his shoulder, peeling off bits of meat and gulping them down. "I apologize for the bloody mess. It'll wash out..or something" She scooted her body down as she made progress on the young elf. |
Niku sat down in a chair and watched as she devoured his former 'servant'. "I have seen many things over my 1,000 and some years. The death of my younger brother was one of those moments." He said as he crossed his legs. "At least my Raina didn't die that day." Niku said closing his eyes as the smell of Laramaov's blood entered his nose.

She shrugged her massive shoulders and she gnawed on his side, "You're rather old; I'm surprised. Usually, the older elves are hardest to persuade into peace." She turned a bit, pulling his leg from it's socket, quickly devouring the meat. She began to gnaw on the thigh bone until it snapped and she could get the marrow out. She picked it out with her claws and tongue, growling a bit as it got too far for her. She moved her mouth to the middle of the bone, snapped it, then continued,
"You'd be rather surprised at how many creatures don't bother for the marrow. It's so delicious, and nutritious~"It was not long until there was just excess blood and shattered bones around the space. She was not a slow eater, but she certainly did not inhale her food. She began to lick her paws and lips to clean the blood from them. "Raina? Who's that?" |
"I've always wanted peace." Niku said opening his eyes. "The woman that I drove away when I went dark." He said with a sarcastic laugh. "I don't know how much you know about elfin culture, but elves are born one or two ways, dark or high, and of course there is subspecies. I was born high and turned dark, I grew up with Raina. We were friends until we fully grew up, then we became lovers." He said pausing for a moment. "We were wed in a small ceremony on an Autumn day, she loves Autumn." He said running his hand through his hair. "It is extremely rare for elves to give birth to twins, and when twins are born most of the time it is seen as a bad omen. That is what I saw when I held my son and daughter, I went to the clan's witch and asked her what she saw with my children." He said with a sigh.
Niku chuckled sarcastically again, "She didn't tell me what she saw, but she said they would bring doom to my fathers clan. I of course believed her, and set out to kill my children. The midwife tried to stop me but I killed her instead." He said closing his eyes. "When a high elf kills a innocent bystander, we go dark. I turned dark right in front of my wife and kids. I ran out of the room and went to my and her bedroom, to pack my things. I couldn't stay and let everyone see that I was dark." Niku said pinching his nose. "I haven't seen her for 70 years, she has told me many times with the wind, and tree's to return home and that she forgives me. But I can't go back looking like this." He said motioning to himself. He stood up and grabbed the painting off of his bed. He unwrapped it, "Now this isn't totally finished, but it is close." Niku said as he showed Awèsyiss the painting. "That is my Raina." |
She listened intently, licking her paws clean, "You want to go back? I have never met a Dark Elf who wanted to go back, yet alone who actually could change back into a High Elf. Being a Dark Elf has its..liberties so to say that most of them are not willing to give up." She stood, checking herself over to make sure she was clean. Satisfied, she moved away from the bone fragments and lay down in a different area that was clean. She eyed the picture for a moment, a soft blue glow was cast from her eyes as she did so, "She's very pretty."

"Ya I want to go back. Well high elves that turned dark, can turn back it their mind wants them to." Niku said with a sigh. "I don't care about the liberties really." He said wrapping the painting up. "She is a lot more pretty in person." He said as he set the painting on the bed. "So what did you think of elf?" Niku asked as he sat back down.

Awèsyiss yawned, cracking her jaw and neck in the process, "A rather interesting taste...I liked it~" She folded her paws and rested her head on them, "If you want to back, why do you still resist the change? Are you sure you're the one that wants to go back, and it's not just the others influencing you? I've noticed a few times today a few instances that could've been the end of your transformation, but before long you push it back down and keep yourself in this dark state." Her tail swayed side to side slowly, much like a cat's when it was bored.

"I want to do it on my own, not having another elf do it. That is why I push it down." Niku said crossing his legs. "I am very stubborn, if you haven't noticed." He said with a chuckle. He closed his eyes and pulled in some darkness to get rid of the bones and blood. When they were gone he opened his eyes, sending the darkness away. "That is the one thing I will miss when and if I turn back." Niku said with a small chuckle.

"I don't really think it's a question of 'if', Niku." She sighed, standing up after some time of silence, "It seems I have over..stayed my..." She trailed off, her ears flicking about, ever alert. "Do you hear that..." She jumped forward, turned her body in a C shape as her front paws hit the ground, then continued smoothly through the motion as he back feet propelled her from the tent; her tail followed the motion as well. She hurried across the platform to it's edge, pausing as she sniffed the air and stretched her mind over a small area of the forest.
Her ears went flat as she came across a rather large pack of giant wolves that was coming their way; drawn in by the scent of blood as it had finally drifted to their noses. "Wolves...a large pack too..at least 25 strong." Being 5 and a half feet tall, she was still taller than these large breed of wolves, but with them being 3-4ft, they could still harm her in a large group such as this. Not to mention, cause much damage to the compound; not that she cared about the elves, but her own safety was at risk here. |
Niku quickly sprung up and grabbed his bow and arrows. "Hunters, wolves." He said as he ran out of the tent. "My hunters are coming out to get rid of them." He said as he quickly lunged at a tree. He grabbed on and quietly climbed up it. He drew his bow and aimed at the leader of the pack. He released the arrow and it went flying through the wolf's head.

Awèsyiss jumped forward at the closest wolf, her paws connecting with it's shoulders and pushing it back as her jaws came around it's neck. She used her momentum to push the beast to it's hind legs and backwards onto it's back, snapping it's neck as she bit down hard. Once she was sure the wolf was dead, she removed her jaws. She let out a snarl as a wolf grabbed onto her tail and pulled. She turned her body, snapping her jaws at it to make it let go before whipping it repeatingly with her tail.
While she was distracted with the one wolf, two others snuck up behind her and pounced. The combined force was enough to knock her off balance and ot her side. Her eyes flashed red as she clamped her teeth onto the one's leg, pulling it off; it's claws raked across her skin. She wrapped her tail around the other wolf's neck, choking it as she tried to pull it off. As soon as fresh blood hit the air, the pack focused their attacks on the source. "Oh marvelous.." She quickly gathered up her power, sending a massive blast of telekinetic energy in a radial formation. The attack spread quickly, knocking wolves down mid pounce or stalk, pushing them back rather roughly. While they were occupied with getting up, her wound was already healing and she was climbing up a large tree, out of their way. She laid down on a branch that would support her weight and crossed her paws, watching contently. The wolves stalked around the tree; when they weren't busy getting killed. Some jumped and snapped their jaws, wanting to taste her flesh. |
Niku let the arrow go as Awèsyiss got tackled to the ground. He sighed not wanting to hit her, he waited until she was fully up in the tree. He drew his bow again and shot one who was in mid jump. He reached back and noticed he was out of arrows, "Damn it." He whispered. He closed his eyes and made a fist, he motioned down towards the wolves. A huge bolt of lightning came crashing down to the ground, killing the rest of the wolves. He jumped down and wobbled a little bit, "Are you ok Awèsyiss?" Niku asked as he leaned against the tree she was in.
