Hataka sat in the back of a plane. Her small laptop sitting on a pul out tray from the seat in front of her. She had a special wifi adapter hooked up to it so she could get online, talking to a few friends back in Elandrias. Hataka left the small town of her birth to meet with the people who would form her first ever band. And they'd be doing their first ever performance on the news. But Hataka informed them quickly that she may end up late, being that she had multiple stops before she'd arrive, and therefore their performance was rescheduled for nine pm. ~*~*~ Corrine and Corin sat together near the front of the plane, hand in hand. The twins were tight knit, though they looked nothing like the other. They were a rare-case, so to speak. They came from the same mom, the same womb, but they had different fathers. As much as they hated their dads for brutally abusing their mom, and having so much anger pent up inside them, they were rather quiet, composed, and well kept. They had this gate between them and everyone else. That no one could ever pass through. Ever. ~*~*~ Jay had on his sun glasses, head leaned back against his seat, ipod blasting music straight from his ears to his brain as he sat there. He was no rare case. He was no piece of cake or a musical fruit basket like the rainbow headed cheerleader behind him though, either. He simply was. His reason for going to the city? To finish his training as a cold hearted assassin, when in truth, he wasn't all the way cold. He had his moment, thought he was typically a jerk to almost everyone. Yet people still liked him too much . Sighing he simply zoned out for the last few hours of the flight, letting the music keep him from hearing the constant complaining of the idiot sitting beside him, who had his head leaned against the window, sweat pouring down his brow and wouldn't quit trembling or talking about how he hated heights. Well jay had something he hated to. The constant babbling of the over-sized beige suit clad teddy bear beside him. |
Chloe sat far away from her brother, reluctant to even be on the plane. Her eyes were closed as she wrote on a notepad, neatly placed on top of a cookbook on the pull out tray in front of her. Her only reason for going to the city was her aunt's wedding, thus why her brother was also on the plane. However, her hatred for him never diffused even for such an event, thus she avoided him at all costs. Her hand scribbled on the notebook various ingredients, since she had been given the opportunity to cook the wedding cake. "There's so much to buy," She told herself silently. Did she even have the budget to get these things?
- - - Shawn sat in the back of the plane, grumbling slightly to himself. He was sitting near someone with a laptop, though of course he knew little about them, being a stranger. He silently stared at a book in front of him, but it was apparently not very useful for his needs. It was a medical book, filled with knowledge he couldn't tolerate at that moment. His sister's earlier rant had still frustrated him. --- Two siblings sat side by side, meanwhile. The brown-haired boy was writing on a musical staff, his band having a gig in the city that he had to go to. He was writing new notes and lyrics every second on the paper. As he spoke allowed, he could see the confused expression out of the corner of his eye that took his blue-haired sister's face. "What's wrong, sis?" "The cake...It looks so plain, yet it's so sweet." She looked at him blankly, taking another bite and chewing. "By the way, your humming is hard to comprehend..." "You find anything that isn't based on numbers hard to comprehend, Flute." It was ironic that way. He, the one named after who knew what, could follow the illogical ideas in songs like it was nothing. His sister, however, who could be named after an instrument when her name was shortened, found anything not based on numbers far from understandable. "Oh," The boy noted, looking to the attendant. "Can we get some more cake here?" He got a nod, causing him to hear a sigh. "Why do I need to eat more cake? I haven't even finished this slice..." "Sis, you know what the doctor said. Constant sugar is good in your case. Your blood sugar could bottom out any second otherwise." Of course, the only reason she was even going was because her brother needed her to be with him for safety. But really, why would a master of herbal medicine and poison have an interest in the music that made no logical sense? |
Hataka looked over at the guy with a book of medical book in his hands. Honestly, sitting on a plane reading something educational was just pure torture. she couldn't say she wanted to share her laptop but she could be nice. "Doesn't that just rattle your mind? Educational stuff... I never got anything medicinal." she said, her voice was strong, but gentle at the same time. It was extremely feminine with a musical edge to it. she was clearly the singing type.
~*~*~ the twins looked at the girl sitting by them, looking at each other for a moment before deciding, very reluctantly, that she was totally if not completely insane. "What are you buying stuff for?" Corine asked. She was well aware it was none of her business, but the girl had magical hands when it came to foods. After all, her family was a famous line of chefs, at least, on her mother's side. they were the kind of people who made cakes a mile long, or twenty stacks high. Or enough to feed at least two hundred people. and they were always rich, moist, and pleasing to the tongue. spending too much time in the bakery is probably why the girl had a sugary smell stuck to her. it just went with the innocent sweet looks she had, but her brother's looks, though the same, were more hostile. |
"Not really. I mean, it makes sense to read a medical book if you're in med school, right?" Shawn smiled quite simply, shaking his head. "I don't necessarily enjoy it, but I have an exam after my trip, so I need to get the studying done when I can. Unlike the person he spoke to, Shawn's voice was deep and quick, no syllable sung or added. "I need to pass that test."
--- "Oh... Well I'm in charge of my aunt's wedding cake," Chloe confessed, smiling a slight bit as she pulled her hand through blond locks due to it getting in her face. "I need to make sure to have the proper ingredients and necessities to cook it." "I want to make it something she'll be pleased with, after all." Having grown up in a bakery herself, though not from a family of cooks, Chloe had a sweet scent stuck to her from all the cooking. However, it wasn't quite as stuck, likely due to her nature of running and sweating most of the stink on her out anyway. "Aunt Sofia may not be picky, but she comes from a family where slightly odd things are normal. So I plan to make something the whole family will appreciate, meaning it has to be a tad odd..." |
Hataka smiled, taking off her sunglasses, revealing shimmering hazel eyes. "I tried med school. some things were interesting, other things i just couldn't bear. Especially when they had us dissecting animals and stuff." she said with a shudder. "Anyways, I'm Hataka Fujimori" she said, sharing the last name of her dad who owned a famous music label. "Nice to meet you." she told him, with a surprisingly sweet smile for someone with harsher, more stubborn looks.
~*~*~ Corrine smiled. "Umm... I would offer help... But I'm not sure I should be butting into something as personal as wedding cakes. though I can advise that you make a cake thats filled with good memories for the whole family. that's what i always did for weddings and anniversary cakes. I added things that represented important things and people to them, such as grandchildren, their wedding room. The likes." she said. she wasn't entirely skilled, but she did enjoy talking sweet with someone. Pulling out a Picture of a cake that was made for her little sister's birthday. "My little sister loved blue lilacs, silver, and white gold. I used those to inspire the cake I made for her. She threw a fit when it actually came to eating it." she said, reminiscing the ten-year-old's pleased, excited and abslutely adoring reaction when she saw her cake. |
"I don't mind it too much. My mother died of illness a few years ago, and i promised I'd find a way to cure that illness even though I couldn't help her." Shawn smiled. "So to me its worth the difficulties. Oh, and the name's Shawn Kitski." Shawn nodded, staring at his book still, though giving a glance to the girl near him. "Fujimori... I recognize that name. Right, mom used to love music from that company..." He shook it off. "Ah well. Memory that doesn't really make difference to me I guess."
--- "I plan to make something with memories. I know things my aunt likes and I've met my uncle. I have a design in mind already..." She took out a picture of a cake, drawn by hand, labelled many times. Some labels included the icing colors, most of which were yellow and green, along with white. "My aunt loves dandelions and weeds for some reason- she always has. Her husband to be is a vegetable lover. Actually, I plan on making a carrot cake for the base just for that reason. The flowers are going to be dandelions and other weeds, and the surrounding cream is going to be drawn to look like cucumbers." She giggled. "I know it sounds strange but... I'm sure Auntie will like it. I'm trying to do a good design for the topper though. That part's a little harder..." |
Hataka frowned. "I'm sorry..." She said, looking down. The girl was not exactly sure how to comfort the man beside her. she never really went through anything relating to death, divorce, yes, her family falling apart, most definitely, but something like this... it was somewhat awkward. "I wish you the best, then. Hopefully you'll find the cure.." she said, hesitating before touching his arm comfortingly. Nothing intimate, just friendly.
Turning back to her laptop she pulled out her notepad and pen from her pocket. though small it was enough to write the lyrics to her new songs down. ~*~*~ Corrine laughed, not because the girl's idea, but because cakes, vegetables... They were enemies in a way. Healthy and fatty just don't get along. "Carrot cakes ARE good. Er... why not make it something garden-ish for the topper peice, with both of them standing in the middle holding hands and smiling... There could be weeds and dandelions around the garden of vegetables." She said, putting in an idea for the girl. "I never worked with something like this before so my ideas are very mediocre." she said apologetically. |
"Why apologize? It's not like you infected her, and it was years ago anyway." Shawn chuckled a bit, shaking it off as he finished a chapter of his book. Putting it closed on the table, he leaned back. "Today's studying is done. Now what should I do until we land?" He chuckled again, looking over at the girl next to him. "Any interesting ideas?"
--- "It's okay. Actually, that is a good idea. Though... Strange as it sounds, my aunt might find it strange, even if her own likes are such..." Chloe laughed nervously. "My aunt's a little more than just strange, I guess. To be honest, it's hard for me to tell what she wants and doesn't want half the time. But you did give me an idea." She smiled, drawing something in her notebook that looked like a man holding out a dandelion or some other sort of flower, next to him a woman, presumably her aunt. "Auntie always talks about how uncle Mike gave her a dandelion when they met. So it makes sense I think..." |
she smiled. "There's only about an hour or two left on the plane... We could watch a movie, listen to some music... Whatever." she said than blushed. "I don't have very good people skills so.. You'll have to excuse me if I accidentally say something harsh or insulting." she said, replacing her sunglasses and popping a piece of sugar candy into the mouth, biting on it with her front teeth. She had other uses for hard candies. She knew just how to bite them to shoot them off like bullets. After all, their music industry wasn't the only thing they were. They were the vampiric government as well, so leathal weapons were required, for her job at least.
"What are you most into as a hobby?" she asked. ~*~*~ Corrine smiled. "Sounds like fun. Honestly, we're just going because, well, we're orphans so we're sent from home to home, city to city, country to country. Wherever we can go where someone will take care of us." she said, shrugging as if the fact didn't bother her at all, when in truth, it put heavy baggage on her shoulders. |
"I don't really have a hobby. I like to read but...Eh, besides that I've been too busy with med school to worry about a hobby." Shawn chuckled a bit. "Eh, my sister is likely more harsh with me than you'd be. Then again, she hates my guts for some reason." Though he'd been told the reason many times, he didn't have the same view on the past as his sister, however. So, it never really got resolved.
--- "I was adopted by my boss, so I'm lucky that I don't have to deal with that. My brother's already an adult so he didn't have to deal with that when mom died either." Chloe let out a sigh of relief. She was generally left alone by her father-figure, Richard, but she was happy with how things were. "He's always helping me learn about cooking too. I'm glad I get to be there still." |
She frowned. She didn't exactly like being harsh to people unless she had to be. "sounds bad." she said. "It's just I only know very few people. I was home-schooled so only my birth-friends know me." she said. Birth friend were what she called people who were born same sate same time as her. Irish twins are what humans called them. they called them birth-friends. And four of them were in her band. "I'm not usually so talkative." she said and than rubbed the back of her hed, running her fingers through the back of her hair. "You're her family. She may think she hates you but family can't hate each other. Besides, hate is a very strong word. too strong to use for anyone or anything. Unless she has a good reason to hate you, i don't see the right for her to even treat you badly." she said with a quick, comforting hug.
~*~*~ She shrugged. "It's life! Anyways, If you want help baking the cake, I'm up for it. It's a horrible way to say you can count on me if you need help with it but... yeah. Whatever.GRR! talking is so aggravating." she said, crossing her arms over her chest and sighing. "what she means is she can't stand being away from an oven for more than thirty minutes and she's ready to get her hands on some ingredients and start cooking." Corin cut in in his dark, soft voice. |
"Please don't be so touchy-feely..." Shawn mumbled. "It's sort of annoying to be touched too much by people you barely know..." He didn't want to sound harsh, and his voice was soft as he said it, but he really couldn't handle the constant physical expressions of comfort or other such ideas. "Sorry, it's just... I find it really irritating... I'm not one for overdoing touch when I can keep it from happening."
"As for my sister, I don't fully know her reasons, but she says it's because she felt I was useless to the family during the worst of things, and it upset her. I can sort of understand that... I couldn't find work and yet in middle school and above she was working in a bakery to help pay the bills when mom couldn't get out of bed. But still...I did more then I think she knows. Mom never really told her though, I guess." --- "Well thank you but... I want to do this on my own. It's my first big task as a pastry chef, so I want to do my very best on my own." Chloe smiled silently, digging through a bag near her for a container, taking it out to reveal a set of cupcakes, lined up neatly with white frosting and a strawberry topping each one. "If you'd like, though...I could use your input on the cupcakes I made. I wanted to give some to my cousin while I'm there. She loves cupcakes, especially if they're a sort of Neapolitan flavor mix. I love getting input though." |
She nodded. "You're in hell around me then... It's like my version of a tick. I don;t even know when I'm going to randomly hug people." She said apologetically than shut down her lap top, putting it up and calling an assistant for some snacks and warm milk.
Hataka shrugged. "I was useless for my mom when she clicked and killed five of my siblings. She always told dad about something knocking against her skull.. Dad killed her too. Can't you just tell we're such a tight knit family." she said, putting her arms behind her head and leaned back. "And ever since then I walked around encircled by agents, security... It's actually a bit demeaning. Not to mention the lack of control over life.... You guys want something to complain about, watch a whole bunch of people you know and love be killed by your mother, watch your mother be killed by your father, and your father become chokingly over protective. Then by all means beat yourselves up, blame each other. Though she was your mother, blaming someone who wasn't at fault is just plain stupid." She said. Her voice was deadly low by the time she finished, and the hiss at the end was blood chilling. ~*~*~ Corrine smiled, but when she heard Neapolitan, she wrinkled her nose. "I know, being a novie professional baker, I should like the stuf or at least be able to eat it but Neopolitan stuff and me just don't like each other. Literally. I'm sorry, I'm no help this time." she said, bowing her head slightly and offering an apologetic smile. |
"I don't really blame anyone for mom dying. She died of illness. But...seriously, your life sounds like something you'd read in one of those horror novels. The way you said you've got a tick that makes you randomly hug people and stuff would make sense in your shoes. I mean, isn't it sort of like a way to prove someone's there? After so many people getting killed by other people you love, in front of you making it worse...Even I can tell you that's normal. A psychiatrist would say the fact you can talk about it and seem semi-calm is crazy."
--- "It's not a problem. We all have things we don't really mix well with. We also have things were work best with. For me it's fruit. I love working with fruit pastries." She giggled a bit. "Actually, the first thing I learned to make was a strawberry tart. What about you? Sometimes our first pastry says a lot about us as a baker." |
She looked over at him, clicking the candy against her teeth as she thought. "Not exactly something you'd expect from someone like me though, eh? But what can I say. It's better having a hugging tick than being cold and distant and cutting myself right." She said with a slightly self-conscious laugh.
~*~*~ She smiled, trying to remember the first things she made. "I liked making anything creative. Even my family recipes had a special something added to them just to give my signature spark. For me, everything has to have either cinnamon or chocolate in it. So my first pastry was a cinnamon chocolate cream puff. Sounds weird, I know, but I somehow made it work." she said smiling. "I think I made the dough itself cinnamon flavored, an the filing chocolate. I can't remember I was so little... But it tasted heavenly." she said, taking a deep breath of the stale plane air as if she could smell her first ever personal recipe. |
"I'd rather stick to being the plain and boring med school student I am," Shawn replied, chuckling a bit. "I don't want to be considered a stereotype. I just want to do things the way I do and live that way. It's much simpler to just do what seems right for you, isn't it?"
--- "I can see that working, actually. Cinnamon dough isn't uncommon, and I've made chocolate filled cream puffs before. It sounds like a nice combination. Too bad I couldn't try it." She giggled a bit in a nonchalant manner, smiling. "One time, I got an order for cheesecake and it was a person who generally liked spicy food ordering it for themselves. So I made sure to use pepper-jack cheese when I was making the cream cheese for the cake. The frosting was pretty plain and sweet, but it turned out really well. He especially liked the hot pepper I put on the top for decoration and a finisher." |
She smiled at him. "Yep. No offense, your goals with the med school thing is noble, but shouldn't you do something you typically enjoy?" he asked him, obviously going for a total subject change.
~*~*~ She wrinkled her nose than laughed. "Oh dear. That one sounds unique. I did this really weird meat, ramen, and ice cream pie. It tasted good until the noodles foze up." she said, giggling a little. |
"I do enjoy it, actually. While the medical books are tedious, I like the idea that someday I'll be able to help people who are sick. Besides, finding out about different kinds of ailments is interesting, and the medicines are also interesting. I know what to look for if a doctor sees me too."
--- "I don't know if I'd like that. I'm not big on meat. I bet Richard would though if his wife would let him eat it. He's diabetic so you'd have to use sugar free ice cream, but he loves his carbs, protein and dessert." Chloe laughed a bit, smiling easily. Somehow, it was a strangely easy conversation. |
She shrugged. "I used to want to be a vet, or a doctor to be honest. Wanted to be the one delivering babies but things came up and school just wasn't my forte, so I'm a drop out. I mean, I qualify for being a vet, because I did homeschooling and college for that area, so if my musical career ends, I'll have something to fall back on. But just a full fledged doctor specialized in some big fancy word I don't know. You got some real talent. I'll give you that." She said with aneasy laugh.
~*~*~ "I don't eat a lot of meat but I was curious. I used to be vegitarian but I decided that some things were just meant to be eaten. I don't eat certain animals, but others, eh.... As long as I don;t know what it is." she said with a nonchalant shrug, smiling at the girl besides her. |
((I just realized a couple of our characters are totally left out now xD)
"I'm not very good at many things. I can't cook or do art, but.... Medicine sorta just clicks with me. That's why I'm glad to be a med school student. Though...I do hate the tests. Especially the one coming up. It's horrible timing as usual." --- "Sounds like me with eggs. I used to try to avoid them- but now I'll eat anything with eggs even if it's just plain eggs. I've made vegan cakes before though. If you ever liked vegetarian food, you might like a vegan pastry once in a while. They're pretty tasty." |
[[ lol. I'll bring them in eventually. XD]]
She nodded, her food coming along and she snacked silently, sipping on her milk. She always had warm milk before a nap. She absolutely hated most cold things, accept ice cream. That was about the only thing she'd eat cold though. "mmmh.. This has been a really interesting conversation..." she said, finishing her milk and leaning back, getting comfortable. "I have a preformance as soon as we land so I need to get some rest. Wake me when we land?" she asked, smiling up at him. ~*~*~ She nodded. Eggs... The first things she used to not eat because she always said she could hear the baby chicks tweeting. "Yeah... I'd like to try them sometime. Maybe once I get seetled at m new house you can stop by?" she asked. |
((No problem :3))
"I'd do that anyway. After all, we can't let you stay on the plane afterward, can we? It would be a problem for the people who run the airport too." Shawn smiled, pulling at a headset and plugging it into his arm rest. "Rest well." --- "Sure, though you'll need to give me the address. Maybe we can work together on it. Considering what we've talked about how we cook so far, it might be even more interesting to work together on a dish." |
she nodded, taking out a pen and some paper. "I don't know the address yet, but here's my cell number. I have a bakery building waiting to be used. Over sized oven and all. We could go all out and make the wedding cake a world record." She said, meaning it to be a small push for her to be more excited about the wedding. "And I'm Corrine Vlad, by the way." she said, smiling.
|
"My name is Chloe Kitski. It's nice to meet you, Corrine." Chloe smiled easily, pulling blond hair from behind her shoulder with an easy smile. "That sounds like fun. I really am excited to get some baking done soon. Baking seems to be my life, you know?" She giggled a bit. "But are you sure it's alright?"
|
She smiled and nodded. "Yeah. Actually once my Bakery hits the papers and I get enough business I think I may venture off on my own, ya know. I heard that the city needed a spontaneous bakery... So I had my guardians set things up. If you ever want to, maybe you could help me out with the bakery. You have to admit we are two extremely spontaneous people." she said with a slight giggle, remembering their weird recipes.
|
"I live far away so it'd be hard, since I can't afford much of a place to move just yet. I get my apartment for free by working at the bakery I work at so... That may have to wait. But the idea itself is fun." Chloe laughed, smiling gingerly. "I'm supposed to be inheriting Richard's too...So I don't know just yet. But either way, I'd love to cook together."
|
She smiled. "What if I said I could get us a really big flat and we could share it? I also have an inheritance coming in, and the rent and deposit will be taken care of within a month. It's up to you of course... I'm just putting the idea out there." She said.
|
"I couldn't possibly do that!" Chloe replied, startled. "That would be horribly rude of me, wouldn't it? We're still strangers for the most part, I mean we only met a few minutes ago. Isn't it a bad idea to make such an idea in such a short time?" Chloe's face, of course, was flushed. The idea, while interesting, worried her very much. "Besides I don't remember the last time I actually lived with another person. It might be a tad uneasy for the both of us wouldn't it?"
|
"No, actually, I'm used to big loud houses so, living alone creeps me out. And anyways, I'll also be taking classes at night too so I'll probably not be there most of the time." Corrine explained calmly. She ignored the flush. It wasn't as if she were asking the girl to sleep with her. Believe it or not Corrine would rather have a hot guy with abs and smoking biceps in her be than another girl. No offense intended. "The flat I have reserved spans out over the whole floor. There are three rooms, two bedrooms, and one that could be a living room, plus in between all that is a dining room. Pretty big. And it's right by a lake just outside of town." she said with a shrug. "It's ok though. It was simply an offer." she said.
|
"Let me think about it for now. Besides, I'd need to see how much you'd want in rent and stuff. It'd be bad of me to take generosity without paying you back. I pay for my apartment now by working, after all." Chloe smiled simply, looking through her notebooks. "Now that I think about it, I should probably talk to Richard about it... He'd need to know in advance what I want to do. But I still have to finish school..."
|
She smiled and nodded. "Well, I would let you look at the rent papers but, I should let you talk to the agency yourself, eh? As for school, you're lucky you're heading into an academic city." she said, having an assitant bring her some water as she pulled out an elegant cup cake, with sugar candy decorations, making it look like a royal picture frame done in gold over the frosting. "Want to try some... It's new." she said.
|
"Are you sure it's alright? I love trying new pastries." Chloe smiled easily. She wasn't big on fancy decoration normally, but she did like the general idea of tasting something new. "Definitely looks interesting. Do you make the coloring yourself, or do you buy dye? I like seeing what people prefer to do. I know i like making the food coloring myself."
|
She wrinkled her nose. "Ugh... store-bought dye? Isn't that a bit not-so-creative. Besides, I like making it myself. It adds to the fun of creating something." She said, cutting the cup cake in half, a chocolate pudding and icecream filling was somehow still chilled, and she handed a piece to her. "The decoration does not come off. It adds to the flavor. Cinnamon." She said, giggling.
