Shadowed Box of Knowledge
Shyness is never a great thing. Especially when the honor of ones family and self are at stake. Two students will soon find out that shyness is whats needed for change to happen. In a world where only the bold succeed it is her mission to change whats the impossible.
Pink’s Character: Mizuki my male oc is Mizuki kinsaki age 20 male. Long silvery hair always in a braid over his shoulder. when not braided it falls down to the back of his knees. He has light lavender eyes and a healthy build Airi’s Character: Charlotte Charlotte Paige Sampson: She was kind gentle and popular. There was no one who didn’t love seeing her. Her eyes where crystal blue and caring. Her hair was brown in soft ringlets that fell down her back to end softly midway. Her skin was a light mocha on a good day and her size was petite. No more then 5'4 she was a sight for some one to see. |
Mizuki could not believe this. His family of all people moving to america! He huffed as he walked in with his mother to his new school. Today he was to begin here. He looked around; the lockers where a dingy grey and the floors seemed in need of a wash. "I dont want to be here" He told his mother as they rounded a corner. "You know how hard your father worked for his premotion...dont dishonor him" Was all she said and closed the matter. After greeting the principle he was on his way to his new class. |
Charlotte saw the new boy walking around school with his mother. She wasn't sure what it was about it him but she couldn't help but watching him. She was so distracted that she walked straight into Seth, the captain of the football team. "Oh my gosh! I am so sorry Seth!" Both of their papers went flying. "It's okay Char, you are normally on top of things. What's wrong?" We both were trying to quickly pick up their papers before they got ruined on the floor. "Just a bit distracted this morning I guess..." Charlotte threw him a quick smile and continued walking to class thinking about the new boy.

The bell soon rang and he watched as everyone hurried to class. He looked at his schedual math was first. Being escorted by the principle he fallowed silently. "Well here is your first class" The man said as he knocked once and opened the door "Well...go on" He took a moment and just looked at him before he closed his eyes and entered. "Mr. woodcock this is Mizuki an exchange student from japan" He said before closing the door. "Aw yes...I was waiting for you" Mr. woodcock said before he stopped writing the problem on the chalk bored and walked over. "Okay class pay attention...this is mizuki" He said then looked to him "Why dont you share a little about your self?" The teacher said. Mizuki just stood there and looked at him as if he had two heads. The clock ticking was the only sound in the room "Well then...take a seat" He said. Mizuki nodded his head and walked to the only empty chair at the back left corner of the class and sat down.

Charlotte looked up as Mr. Woodcock introduced the new student and started blushing. Oh dear.... I hope that he didn't notice me staring at him in the hall. Mizuki. That's an interesting name. Charlotte smiled at herself. She looked around and noticed that the only empty seat was right next to her. She watched Mizuki take a seat next to her. She tried to smile at him but he just sat down ignoring her.

As time went by the buzz in class was soon about him. You would think that they have seen a person from japan He thought to himself as he did the problems on the bored as fast as the teacher was writing them down. As Mr. woodcock finished the last problem he turned around and said "Now...as you finish bring your papers up to me and you may go" As soon as the last word fell from his lips mizuki stood and gathered his things. "Um...is there a problem?" The teacher asked and he said nothing as he walked down to the front and handed the teacher his sheet of paper with all 50 finished answers. "I presume that I am able to leave" He said in a low almost girly voice. Mr. Woodcock just stared at the page and nodded his head. He bowed once, stood straight then left.

Charlotte saw Mizuki stand up when Woodcock finished writing the problems on the board. She was the best one in the class and he finished before her. A minute after Mizuki left Charlotte handed in her paper. Normally she would act like she needed more time. She didn't want people to think that she was too smart. She walked out into the hallway trying to find Mizuki. There was still almost 20 minutes left before the next period. She found him by the railing overlooking the courtyard.

As he left mizuki looked to his sheet of classes. The next one to attend was gym then lunch. He kept walking silently to himself in hopes he was heading in the right direction. Soon Mizuki stopped and looked out of a near by window. Leaning against the railing he peared out into the court yard. It was not that bad...a fountain, trees and bushes. Along with green grass and pathways. He saighed and hung his head. Mizuki already missed the cherry blossoms and the cranes with the arch ways that say knowledge. Unlike the flat roofs that that keep creativity in a shadowed box.

When Charlotte found Mizuki she wasn't sure what she was supposed to do. I normally am so social.... Why on earth is he making me nervous? She slowly walked up and stood next to Mizuki. "Hi, my name's Charlotte. I think that we are in the same math class. Did you just move here?"

Mizuki raised his head and turned his light lavender eyes upone the women who had spoken to him. The typical american female. Tan, brown hair, small build, though the eyes cought him off gaurd. He has never seen such a deep intense blue before. He mentaly shook his head. "Since I am a transfer student the just came today...should that not answer your own question" He said in a light tone of a voice and a little tilt of his head.

Charlotte mentally recoiled a bit. She had never seen anyone with lavender eyes before. "I'm sorry if I offended you. I was just trying to make conversation. I've never had to move before, so I don't know what it's like to be the new person. I thought that it might be easier if you had a friend." She smiled at him as she started to walk away.

Mizuki watched her as she turned and walked away from him. "You know...its common curtacy not to turn your back on another when engaging in a conversation" He said in a tone or two higher then he normally would.

Charlotte laughed a little, turning back to him. "Common courtesy also would dictate that you not demean the person that you are talking to." She said nervously, kicking herself for being unsure of herself.

At that He gave a rare little smirk "A worthy apponite in mind games I see" He said with a little tilt of his head "Its good to know this school has at least some intelligence" With that he pushed away from the railing and stood straight. His hair fell over his shoulder and he placed his arm across his chest to hold it as he bowed low. Standing straight he spoke "My name is Mizuki Kinsaki. Born and raised in tokyo japan. And until now attened a private school for gifted students" He said "This was a last resort of a school as it is the only one with a deseant art program"

Charlotte looked at him oddly as he bowed. "You do realize that we are in America... You don't have to bow. We shake hands." Charlotte offers him her hand. "And I beg your pardon? A worthy opponent? This school may not be as wonderful as your old school in Japan, but it suits us just fine." She turned her nose up slightly, getting annoyed. "Our arts program is more than decent. I should know I'm in the choir and band." She smirked a little at him.

He looked to her as if the comment was never made "For starters...I do realize that I am in america yet it is my custom to bow while introducing ones self" He said to her "it shows respect by placing your head lower then the one infront of you" Mizuki said then looked to her hand "Also when I say art...I mean visual" He said slightly. "Please forgive me but I will not grasp your hand" He said slightly in an almost sad voice.

Charlotte dropped her hand. "Okay then... I guess I don't have to bow since my head is already lower than yours?" Charlotte said with a smirk. "Oh... Well our art department does well in every aspect. I just appreciate the musical aspect more than the visual."

He tilted his head at the comment "Well I do suppose" He said to her. Mizuki was unsure of this woman, but he needed to make a friend some time... "The visual is more my feild...as I tend not to speak to much infront of others" He said lightly dipping his head

Charlotte leaned back against the railing looking up at Mizuki. "Why don't you talk much in front of people? You seem like a very smart person." She smiled up at him. "What class do you have next? The bell's about to ring in a bit." She said pushing off of the railing.

He stood straight as he looked down at her "Lets just say...talking was not part of my childhood" He said simply "And gym" Was the next words to leave his mouth

She looked up at him confused. “How was talking not part of your childhood; if you don’t mind me prodding? And I have gym as well. Should we start walking over there?” She started walking thinking about what he said. She looked behind her and saw him standing at the rail still. “Well, aren’t you coming?” She said with a smile.

Mizuki gave a nod of his head and pshed off of the rail walking towards her. "Lets just say...Talking brings dishonor" With that he left the topic be. He fallowed her to the gym and looked about slightly as he saw everyone walking in. Mizuki rested his arm on the bag that rested at his hip before the teacher came over "So...I take it your the new student" Mizuki just nodded his head "Very well...I will let it slip this time but you are going to need gym shoes and clothes" Mizuki looked to him "Already have them" He said motioning to his bag. The teacher looked a little drawen back "Prepared I see...good go change"

Charlotte nodded to Mizuki as she walked into the girl's locker room. She was puzzled by what he had said. How does speaking bring dishonor? I guess I will never really understand that, and he seemed as if he didn't want to talk about it. Charlotte left that and quickly changed into her gym clothes still thinking about the conversation with Mizuki.

Mizuki vhanged and placed his things within an empty locker. He took his hair and wrapped it into a bun on the bak of his head placing two chopsticks in it to keep it in place then he left the room and entered the gym

Charlotte kept looking at Mizuki from across the gym. She was getting so distracted, finally she got hit in the side of the face with a ball when she was watching Mizuki. She shook her head trying to shake off her thoughts of Mizuki.
"God Char! Are you okay?" Nicole ran over to her and looked at her face. "You are going to have a bruise there! You're supposed to be the one that good at volleyball not me! I can't believe you didn't get that! I feel so horrible!" Charlotte started chuckling a bit. "It's okay Nic, it happens. I just am a bit distracted today I guess." |
Mizuki happened to glance over as the ball made contact with the side of her face. He mentaly cringed. Mizuki was far from stupid he knew she was watching him. Thats what you get he thought as he looked at the rope infront of him. "Climb to he roof gentlemen" The teacher said and he looked at it again. Fine he would. Crouching a bit he gave a jump and grabbed on with his hands. Only with the use of his arms and upper body he scaled the rope fast and easy. Reaching the roof he dropped down from the hight and landed in a crouch then stood not realizing the rest of the boys where just reaching the half way marker of the ropes.

Char looked up again in time to see Mizuki scamper up the ropes. She shook her head and tried to concentrate on the volleyball game. Even though she was short she was a good setter for the team. She quickly set the ball up to Michelle who spiked it into the other side of the court. Just then the whistle blew and it was time to go change. She ran up to Michelle, "Hey that was a really good spike. Have you thought about coming out for the team at all?"
Michelle looked at her, "Well, not really. I never really thought that I was any good at sports. You're not on the team are you?" Charlotte laughed as they were changing. "Of course not. My sister's on the team. They've been looking for a good hitter. I mean I can set and all, but my serving stinks. And I'm too into my music." Charlotte quickly finished changing and walked out of the locker room trying to see Mizuki. |
Mizuki changed and let his hair back down to the way that it was always. He grabbed his things and headed out of the locker room. He began to walk down the hallway and soon out the door. It was lunch and he was not about to be inside unless he had to be. Finding a space beneith a tree he sat down on the ground and closed his eyes. What a day he sighed

Charlotte saw Mizuki walk outside, she started to follow him when Seth caught her by the elbow. "Hey Char. We saved you a seat. I've been wanting to talk to you about somethings with choir." Charlotte let Seth pull her away while throwing glances over her shoulder at Mizuki sitting by himself under the tree.

After awhile Mizuki opened his eyes and looked to his class sheet. Next was bio then choir and finally art. He sighed "Art at the end of the day" He said to himself. At least it would give him seomthing to look forward to other then the end of the day. After awhile longer he stood and began to head to the biology class.

Charlotte let Seth walk her to her english class slightly upset with him. Of course all that he talked about during lunch was himself. Stupid boys she thought. I guess he thinks that we should start dating again. She sat down in her class and started reading "To Kill a Mockingbird". She had already read it multiple times, but this time she thought of it differently. She was excited for choir next period. It would be fun to get away from things through her music. Then she had band.

He sat in his class and did only his work. Another student part way through the class sat down beside him and began to talk to him. He didnt reply a single word and when the bell rang he was up and out of the class. He headed to his choir class. As sson as he got there he went and sat on the side watching as everyone lined up to where they should be.

Charlotte walked into choir with Seth, she quickly scanned the room to see who all was there. When she saw Mizuki she walked away from Seth and sat down next to him. "How was lunch and your other class?"

Mizuki looked up from his lap to see her and gave a little shrug of his shoulders "It was nothing special" He stated matter of factly. "It was very average" He said

Charlotte tilted her head, "Really it was only average? You didn't find anyone that you find the least bit interesting in your class? Did you talk to anyone at all? Or were you being shy?" She said looking him in the eyes.

He looked back to her intently "Why bother" He said to her "I dont need to talk to anyone that I am not willing to talk to" He stated to her simply. He was about to open his mouth again when the teacher walked in and he closed his mouth one more time

Charlotte was confused by Mizuki. She didn't know how to take him. She started to open her mouth to give a comeback, but just then Mr. Kravitz came in and started class. Instead she just glared at Mizuki.
"Alright class! I see we have a few new faces in here. Welcome to our new comers and welcome back to our returning students. I hope your summers were all to your satisfaction. Well let's get on with the class." Mr. Kravitz proceeded to pass out music. |
He took the music and looked at it. They where to sing "amazing grace" just as he was about to ask about the song choice the teacher spoke up " I know the song is not what everone hopes for...but its the one with the most range of vocals so I can place you accordingly from alto to suprano" He said "Well then why dont we get started" He said "Charlotte why dont you start?"

Charlotte rolled her eyes. She didn't like singing in front of people. She was a good singer, but she felt that performing in front of people was showing off. She watched Mizuki as she started singing the sweet tones letting her gentle soprano voice shape the song and tell a story.

Mr. Kravitz stopped her mid way "I just love hearing your voice...you know where to go" He said motioning towards the stands "Now..." He said looking towards Mizuki "Care to try" He said. Mizuki sighed with a light nod of his head. Mizuki stood and held his paper infront of him. Soon a light tone left his lips. Soft and gentle the notes wafted lightly. Soon Mr. Kravitz clapped his hands together "wounderfull...please stand on the left side of Charlotte" He nodded and walked over standing besdie her
