Ready, Aim, Fruit - Join the Food Fight!
Ah, harvest season!
It's the perfect time to pick apples, dig up potatoes and rejoice over a mouth-watering feast. Friends gather together to... fight?! You squint at the invitation which brought you here. Splattered with stains, and smelling like taco sauce. Yep, that once white sheet of paper definitely has been through a few brawls already. So was all the talk of food just a red herring, and will you have to leave again with an empty belly? A shady figure approaches you. "Shhh, come here! I've got the ammunition crates!" You walk over and see a box full of treats. For a moment you hesitate. After all your parents taught you not to play with food. But then with a splat! a black forest cake lands on your shirt. Ah well - might at least defend yourself. So you reach into the crate and grab:
. . How To Play Throw food at other users, and they will throw food back at you. Think of it as a game of Rock Paper Scissors. Except with munchies. Each individual food can beat two other food items and loses against two others. We won't tell you what the winning combinations are, but if you pay close attention, maybe you'll be able to figure them out. FAQ Can I throw food at users who aren't participating in the food fight? You sure can - but keep in mind they won't throw anything back and so you might run out of ammo. Can I throw something that isn't part of the round's official ammunition? Yes, but it will be treated as random chatter and you don't score any points for it. Help - I'm out of ammo! To avoid this, throw your foods at active players. They will throw something back at you, and so the fight can go on (and on, and on, and...). But since we enjoy watching you douse each other in overripe pulp, occasionally a staff member will post a picture of a food item. Be the first person to quote it, and one food is added to your ammo pile. How much ammunition do I have? At the beginning a total of five. Then your pile consists of what you haven't thrown yet, what others have thrown back at you, and the occasional fruit or vegetable you managed to quote. Do I need to keep track how many beans (potatoes/artichokes/...) I have? No. You can exchange your veggies at the ammo box anytime, so if you want to throw nothing but green beans, go for it! How long is a round going to last? Roughly two to three days. We'll announce the beginning of a new round in this thread and switch your ammunition pile to a new one (yes, that means you can't save up ammo for later rounds - so get wild and throw it while you can!) |

Quiet Man Cometh knows that sharing is key and hence grants Witchchylde a tasty appetizer of Meanwhile mdom feels the artichoke holds nicely in her hand - much too nice to keep, actually. Sure KittyBeary will appreciate such a treat, right? Witchchylde quickly reacts with a small pumpkin, and while equally delicious, it turns out a lot easier to handle. Quiet Man Cometh catches the uncarved Nox leftover like a pro. Maybe a taunting face would have helped, who knows. |

Derpy may be small, but in the past this has taught him a valueable lesson: it's hard to see little things coming. So with a handful of green beans the tiny dragon prepares for a surprise attack.
mdom tries her best to dodge, but she just can't find a safe direction to evade the vegetable shower. Green beans everywhere! Perhaps attack is the best defense then. With a corn cob mdom tries to win back some ground. Derpy sees the corn flying and quickly evades to the left. |

I'm throwing a corn cob at KittyBeary! KittyBeary feels especially brave these days and so decides to strike an unusual target. The corn cob fits perfectly in her hand and should have just the right weight to throw. But then KittyBeary hesitates for a moment - or was it a sudden distraction? Either way, Death by Mirrors is able to catch the cob and throw it right back where it came from. Well... I guess that's a tie. Enter Witchchylde, who thinks the moment KittyBeary is distracted by another fight will give a valueable advantage. Purple nitrile examination gloves lessen the friction and grant extra speed. A handful of mashed potatoes flies through the air; it might be hard to dodge. Or is it? Voidbarker quickly adopts the very same strategy. Witchchylde still looks in another direction, plus the big advantage of green beans remains the same. With so many small things to throw, at least some ought to hit the target, right? Derpy McBlueEyes knows the only correct way to answer Boris' question: a hearty welcome with a splash of mashed potatoes. Having food splatters all over them would make any guest feel at home in an instant. |

If by watching you got the idea this particular game was rigged, then because it is. But occasionally two players just need to stage a spectacular show for the audience. Derpy enjoyed throwing stuff at mdom so much the little dragon wants to play yet another round. But this time he wrestles with a pumpkin almost half his size. Not the most predictable choice, however there's a good chance this unexpected attack will work.
mdom was prepared to shield herself from another bean shower. Her umbrella proves to be a good protection against spilled gravy. Against a flying pumpkin? Not so much. Most of the beans she tries to chuck at Derpy land elsewhere when the pumpkin knocks her over. Witchchylde discovers some beans in her ammunition pouch and like a professional detective tracks them down to Voidbarker. Now both of them are covered in heaps of beans, which at least counts for a tie. KittyBeary however believes Witchchylde should have even more beans and throws a handful at her while she's facing Voidbarker. After all Witchchylde had attacked her first, and revenge is a dish best served cold. The old proverb seems to hold wisdom, because that point goes to KittyBeary. Witchchylde rather makes her own proverbs and reacts with a fresh artichoke. No way she is going to let KittyBeary off the hook anytime soon. On observing the food fight now it seems people already match up with their favorite rivals. Forget speed dating, this is how true friendships are forged! A new contender enters the game, and with a handful of mashed potatoes MonBon even tries to lure yet another new person in. trystan830 doesn't see the food coming and thus gets a nutritious veggie face mask - but maybe her reaction will be even more impressive. In the meantime yet another game has started:
Espy believes in the supreme power of trebuchets and therefore decides to use a spoon as a catapult. Even though it was only a small amount of mashed potatoes, they hit mdom right in the eye. Ouch! mdom tries to throw back a pumpkin, but flinches when hit by the catapult's load. Therefore unfortunately the toss is a clear miss. Tiva wants to play volleyball and sets a pumpkin towards Death, who stops and controls the ball, then returns it. Who knew a plain vegetable could have so many uses? Pumpkin lanterns, soup, roasted seeds to snack on, an inexpensive door stop - and now even a sporting good. Several sponsors who watch the game immediately decide to invest in pumpkins and the stock market skyrockets. I'm throwing a pumpkin at Tiva! |
