Koprina's Lair
In a clearing decorated with shimmering strands of... something, you come upon a cozy-looking sitting area. The furniture appears to be a combination of found pieces, and cushions made from the same shimmering strands as whatever is decorating the trees. Off to one side is what is very clearly a loom, with a length of fabric in progress.
Next to one of the cushions on the ground is a basket of yarn, and a drop spindle with yarn in the process of being made wrapped around it. There are lanterns and fairy lights strung up as well, and the entire area feels welcoming and comfortable. You hear a faint skittering sound coming from the forest near the clearing, and a few moments later, a quiet voice speaks up, sounding startled. "O-Oh, goodness! I w-wasn't expecting company so soon!" Out of the forest skitters Koprina, the shy drider who arrived to the area earlier in the year. "I-I'm so sorry to keep you waiting. I-I've been trying to find new ways to dye the silk fabric I make clothes from. I-I was gathering berries to make more dyes..." She stammers, looking a bit uncomfortable. "I-I made some t-test pieces with the dyes I made... I heard p-people here like pets, and I found out there's a shop that will t-trade berries for the p-pets I made, and a few other pets that showed up, if you're interested!" |
Hi, Koprina. Have you ever tried stinging nettle dye?
"O-Oh, I hadn't thought of that... W-What colors does it make?" Koprina asks, getting a notepad out of the basket of yarn.
It makes a beautiful green. Soft and warm.
Kinda like your undershirt, Tam?
"Oh, that is lovely."
It's almost like your snake doll.
*looks in her yarn stash* I have a darker green than that... But it's in the same family! :D
What kind is it?
Wool. Plymouth Galloway brand. It's left over from the Doctor Who scarf I knitted a few years back.
Awwww. Sounds really pretty.
"I-I've never worked with wool before... I'll have to find some..."
Oh! Here! I combed Sardis. She's really soft.
"O-Oh, goodness! Thank you!"
Hey there :D
And here's a tiny, fluffy goat.
Oooo, a berry. Ooops. I have to stop eating those. |
"H-Hello, Panda!"
Thanks Koprina for the gifts <3
"Y-You're very welcome, Panda."
You can always feed me more fruits XD
Nope. I need them to buy beasties.
lol Tam and Panda, you're both silly.
You have itty bitty chickabiddies plotting to nom your foot.
They were originally going to contemplate nomming the pink spood.
That would have been kind of funny. Baby chicks with big bugs run around and cry frantically, even if no one's chasing them.
awww, that sounds absolutely precious.
Haha I need to post a lot!
bless koprina for the cute crochet critters :s-joy:
When the big bug is a large beetle you also have tiny chicken stopping to try and whack it hard enough to break it so it can be gulped. If the hen mama is near she'll take the bug and make it into little pieces.
Crochet critters? Now that sounds interesting.
Anyone else know that feeling when you just start out some yarn related hobby and your 2-skein stash all of a sudden consists of more like 24? |
You seem to be very talented, Koprina!
Ever buy supplies to start a new hobby, but then never learn the hobby?
That's my story with crochet lmao |
You can still learn.
There are lots of free patterns and good tutorials to find online. Watch a few videos or photos, then try a simple dishcloth, amigurumi or similar small project (I recommend those to beginners because something like a sweater vest or whole afghan often seems way too daunting, but if you grab things you're able to finish in a day or two, you're already off to a good start) |
Yeah. It's never too late to learn a new hobby. I've started learning Naalbinding, and I'm working on my first sock with that technique.
What's that empty trade for, Miss Koprina? *confuzzled*
"O-oh, dear. I was trying to send you a gift... I'll try again."
*edit* "Did that work?" |
Sweet, thank you very much!
I will put these to good use and try to dye some wool on my own. |

Oh wait. *looks over my shoulder* They multiplied while I wasn't looking. |
*sideways glance to her fabric stash*
