What's with all the Nihilisa Frank

That's gracing so many Trisphites' signatures nowadays?

Gallagher 07-20-2017 02:47 AM

suze did it

Espy 07-20-2017 02:51 AM

I mean, you three started it :|

Gallagher 07-20-2017 02:53 AM

just because i'm the most visible of the three of us and also actively encourage anyone that asks to join and even look for images for them to use, that doesn't mean you can blame me

Quiet Man Cometh 07-20-2017 02:55 AM

I had Lisa Frank stuff when it was actually cool! (ie, 20 years ago).

But yes, Suze started this one. It is glorious.

Suzerain of Sheol 07-20-2017 02:58 AM

Are you saying Trisphee's demographic isn't terminally-depressed 90s kids??

Edit: Also, I have the best one.

XoGizmooX 07-20-2017 02:59 AM

-80s baby-

Gallagher 07-20-2017 03:15 AM

suze, i believe mine is the most pleasing to the eye

Would that not make you a 90s kid?

I picked this because I have the stationary.

(80s baby who never gets rid of anything.)

Belief is an imagination-virus, the only cure to which is rampant, brutalizing entropy.

And in the smoking crater of merciless reality, one can clearly see that my pegasus is objectively prettier. :|

XoGizmooX 07-20-2017 03:29 AM

Well in 90 I was 10 so yeah :)

I had every Lisa Frank stationary plus stickers plus the bead sets

Quiet Man Cometh 07-20-2017 03:30 AM

Your pegasus makes my head spin.

I prefer the bland, objective meaninglessness of chance and circumstance.

At least for now.

They had bead sets?! I didn't know that!

I had mostly stationary, and a binder. My sister had a shirt. If I cared about clothes at the time I would have been jealous.

XoGizmooX 07-20-2017 03:34 AM

Yup the puppy's etc shaped beads to make your own jewelry

Also had the metal canisters and a big fuzzy treasure chest box that you color (like the black light posters)

I'm Lisa so I collected stuff with my name lol

Chance and circumstance are the defenses of the floundering, facile mind before the tyrannical determinism of the cosmos. :|

And the only thing spinning here is this death-trap of a planet, hurling itself through the void with seven billion tortured hostages along for the ride. :|

Boris 07-20-2017 04:12 AM

I think Lisa Frank's business is going out of business.

Semantics, a symptom of the furious attempt to assign meaning, very particular meaning, to whatever is.

Toys!

Did it not already? I figure somebody just picked it up for the sake of making dollar store items.

I don't quite recall it being quite as absurdly colour-mush as what I've seen of late.

daikokunyo 07-20-2017 04:41 AM

I'm so jealous of Gizmo. Lisa Frank stuff isn't sold in my country but I looove the designs.

My friend was in the US until she was ten, we lived in the same apartment complex and would play together. When she was moving to another complex and clearing out her house I took her Lisa Frank stuff. It was just a pencil stand and a sticker collection but I adored it. She'd won it and a game in an amusement park or fair of some sort, and it was old.

I hope they become more available sometime in the future. I didn't know it'd run out of business :p-frown: that makes me as sad as when BarbieGirls.com shut.

Death by Mirrors 07-20-2017 05:06 AM

I didn't even know Lisa Frank before this signature trend started on Trisphee, and then I was slightly disappointed to discover the quotes apparently do not belong to the original merchandise. The sharp contrast between eye-hurting flashy rainbows and nihilistic messages makes the most awesome part in my opinion. It reminds me of those companies who sell all kinds of sarcastic shirts, even though they usually don't do rainbow. Or a fashion style where people dress up with skull and skeleton motives but in a perky cute way.

Fixed that for you. We have standards to uphold here.

BECAUSE IT'S NOT JUST LISA FRANK THAT ISN'T AVAILABLE TO BUY FOR ME, IT'S ALSO GOTHIC LOLITA LOVELINESS. I CRY.

Espy 07-20-2017 02:55 PM

Mine's clearly the best because I had to make it :|

Suze, now I've got a mental image of Rupert riding that rainbow pegasus. Thanks.

It might have. Last I heard there are still a couple of employees working there, though they don't know why they even work there since they don't do much.

Tohopekaliga 07-20-2017 05:55 PM

You guys are so wonderfully upbeat. :D

...Super cheery rainbow shit coupled with painful levels of nihilism would make for an excellent product line.

Coda 07-20-2017 06:56 PM

Imagine the t-shirts.

Death by Mirrors 07-20-2017 07:49 PM

Shut up and take my money.

EXCUSE ME?! Those words are NOT interchangeable, thank you very much! The futility is known! The furious part is in our attempts to deny and re-frame the inevitable into something of comfortable concept. But if you insist...

Sigh!

"..a symptom of the furious and futile attempt to assign meaning"

better?

And I've always thought the contrast is more fun when you take into account the development of life and thought. ;)

Death by Mirrors 07-21-2017 01:23 PM

Of course the futility of life itself is known, but that's why we need to point it out even more. With rainbows.

nyreen 07-21-2017 02:57 PM

Edit: You're talking about the really bright, cute images with dark text yeah?

Eh, it was more like, I saw a Nihilisa quote that I liked, but didn't like the image in the background, so I found art that I /did/ like (took some time, because HQ pics of old 90's things are pretty rare), and put the quote onto it in photoshop. Some effort involved, since fonts and gradients are weird.

I'd buy it.

I really need to get one of those images for my sig soon.
I had serious Lisa Frank envy as a kid because all my friends got to have Lisa Frank folders and notebooks for school, but my parents said they were too expensive so I had to have the cheap 15 cent folders that were a single solid color and usually only available in blue, red, yellow, and green. Same for notebooks.

XoGizmooX 07-21-2017 11:56 PM

Taadaa I went LisaFrank avi lol

Gallagher 07-22-2017 12:03 AM

that's pretty cute actually

XoGizmooX 07-22-2017 02:08 AM

Ty :)

....and I made a siggy thingy to go with it now mine is the best :p jkhttp://i.imgur.com/DC3daiA.gif

I'm so jealous of everyone who could/can buy Lisa Frank too, Kad :s-cry: Let's comfort each other *pats shoulder desolately*

Also I joined the bandwagon. (How do you get your pics to show up so nice and big though? Every time I put a pic in my signature it seems to get resized.)

Gallagher 07-22-2017 11:42 AM

mine's automatically resized by our siggies, too. i was just sure to get a good quality so it resized nicely. i didn't edit it at all, lol. it's freaking huge when i preview my own posts.

Boris 07-22-2017 09:24 PM

I don't really like her stuff... yes, I drew rainbows and flowers while the other boys drew cars and fires and what not, but I never liked Lisa Frank's stuff. I only like the signature because of the texts. I do feel bad that she went out of business, though.
