Lawtan's Lagerstätte
http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/...psgcohvst6.png So, This will be my hangout while I work on various critters from fossils! I'll post progress pics as I do them. Feel free to make requests! I may be working on them even after the event. Fossil List: Finished material: |
Choo-choo! What creature is that?
...MORC - Modular Orgamechanic Railway Control. Essentially, if the Hogwarts Train was possessed by the spirit of Hagrid. xD
Edit: Wait...this was supposed to be in the "Petapalooza" area...nuts and bolts... |
...I am not exactly sure what's going on in here, but I saw the word "fossils" and that drew me in.
Well, any favorite extinct animal you want me to draw?
Ohhhh I get it now! I will have to do a little digging (haha...so bad) all I can think of are dinosaurs (thank you, Jurrasic Park franchise!), but I know there are so many other extinct animals out there.
That train looks like it would be an experience to ride in. :P
...not to mention it would be able to make cross-country shortcuts.
I want to ride that train o.o |
MORC: Gather round everybody. That's right. Now, I've got a great trip for you today. Pack it up and get on me. Heading to the dams today.
I want to watch whatever that video is but can't becausey data hasn't reset yet.
Hello all! I have come out of lurker mode to talk to peoples. ^_^
I like that train and approve the idea!
Yes, the train animal is quite different! ^_^
So how do you think a group of train animals would be called? A group of rooks is a building after all, so maybe several trainies make a railway station...
A group of trains is called a fleet. xD
Isn't it the rolling stock?
Fun Fact: There are now 41,415 species on the IUCN Red List, and 16,306 of them are endangered species threatened with extinction. This is up from 16,118 last year. This includes both endangered animals and endangered plants.
Source is from Google. Not sure how reliable it is, but I believe it. |
There are also an estimated 1.9 million species alive today, about 900 known dinosaurs, etc.
*Is working on Andrewsarchus while waiting for any requests* *Hugs Ginger* |
Sorry, I've been more on the pessimistic side of things lately! xD
I've been working on it, but sometimes I feel like people can be so damaging without any care in the world because they haven't had to face repercussions for their actions. I still think there are more good people in the world than bad, it's just difficult to admit when you've done something wrong. |
Oh...you haven't seen me with that stuff. xD
To follow up (sorry - was called away) - I am working towards a less energy-using lifestyle and learning the stuff to make animal & plant friendly environments. Though I wasn't really raised a farmer, I am looking at how to balance that, research, and things like the internet/art.
It scares and enrages me what is going on. But, we're past the point where we can go back. Scientists are working on solutions through primarily materials and genetic engineering, while more environmental/animals scientists are trying to save/aid what we have currently. We must preserve and persevere as best as we can individually. ...and maybe knock the denialist's teeth out. |
It's infuriating that there are people who don't think anything is wrong. OF COURSE there is!! One species vanishes, so does another, and so on. They all coincide and everything is connected.
Background extinction is a natural thing, but when the rate is both exponentially increasing and well above the norm, you are either in or approaching a Mass Extinction Event...which can reduce who/what survives to pure chance akin to repeatedly flipping a coin (and only those who come up all heads survive).
...which is what we've sort of done. Background extinction typically means "well, the other members of 'Homo' are gone, but survived by Homo sapiens which has a direct lineage to them." |
Lawtan, how about something inspired on that image of the fly inside the ambar (amber?) but instead of an insect stuck it's actually the insides of the ambarself?
O.o
As in an amber nugget trapped in amber, or a mold of the insect where newer sap got into the mold? |
The insect is inside the amber, but it's not actually an insect, but the skeleton or innards of the amber being.
I am sorry, but I am still confused...do you mean just the insect? (amber is fossilized plant sap, insects are made of materials like chitin)
If you want that, I'd be happy to do that! There's the Titanomyrma that is a prehistoric hummingbird-sized ant, which was preserved in amber. Or, if you want the amber mold of it - such that it looks like the above, but is colored to look like maple syrup. xD |
xD I mean like a fantasy version where the fly isn't a fly or an insect but the skeleton of a living being that is the amber.
Ambar sounds like something that would end up as a Pokemon eventually.
*Is working on it. :D
:O
*is looking forward to it |
If you're looking for dinos to draw, I suggest a shuvuuia, because they only have one giant claw on each hand. They look so fake.
Or maybe a helicoprion, the extinct shark with the craziest mouth ever. |
they kinda look like fantasy monsters already xD
Oh! Helicorpions are cool! And I'll take a look. (after I have Andrewsachrus and the amber-colored Titanomyrma finished)
dun dun dun!
The tension! |
That is a crazy image in the first post!
It looks like it would be a boss in an old-school jrpg.
Lol, I can see that.
