Romantic Movies

What is your favorite romantic movie and why?

Least favorite?

I actually really hate the movie love actually. It's not romantic in the slightest :-/ to put it in the words of Bon Jovi: Shot through the heart, and you're to blame, [love actually] give[s] love a bad name.

Glitch 02-14-2017 06:01 PM

oh man I have so many I don't know if I could even begin to list them!

Do rom-coms count? Cause then I could for sure say Music & Lyrics

Potironette 02-14-2017 06:02 PM

The Princess Bride. I watched it in school.

When I think about it, I don't really watch romantic movies, which is sort of surprising, since I like romance stories xD.

MonBon 02-14-2017 06:05 PM

Rom coms count :)

Glitch 02-14-2017 06:06 PM

I saw Music and lyrics in the theater at least 4 times and then I bought it . . . and I've watched it a lot of times more ouo

MonBon 02-14-2017 06:09 PM

What about it strikes you so?

Tiva 02-14-2017 07:21 PM

Favorite Romantic Movie: Ever After with Drew Barrymore
I have loved this movie since I was a kid Danielle is an awesome Cinderella and all that girl power plus costume porn.
My Love Hate movie :TiMER
Just got to watch it…. then you will get it.

MonBon 02-14-2017 07:47 PM

omg Tiva I've seen that

Tiva 02-14-2017 08:11 PM

TiMER? Cause yeah…. I love hate the movie.

Den 02-14-2017 08:51 PM

Princess Bride FTW! I really don't do romance or rom com movies, tbph. Most of 'em are seriously cheesy or unrealistic and not representative of realistic love stories. I also have a seriously strong dislike of the 50 Shades series, because of several reasons, including the atrocious grammar and spelling.

Gallagher 02-14-2017 08:53 PM

I have a soft spot for the romance in Pocahontas II: Journey To A New World.

Kaderin Triste 02-14-2017 09:05 PM

Honestly, I kind of have a love-hate thing with romantic movies. Like, it's seriously gag-worthy in my opinion, but sometimes I get in the mood for dumb, cheesy, cliche romance. But I honestly don't really like any of them enough to consider any of them a favorite.

Alistair Fawkes 02-14-2017 09:11 PM

When I'm feeling sappy, there's nothing more I love to do than sit down and watch my favorite romantic film Kill Bill.

So great was their bond that they broke up a wedding. The heroine traversed the world, overcoming countless obstacles in stellar fashion, before finally arriving at her ultimate goal. In the end, her love was so great that Bill's heart exploded with emotion. Truly a masterpiece, confirming that "love conquers all."

In all seriousness, though, I don't really watch romantic films at all. They tend to put me to sleep. I prefer action/adventure or some kind of fantasy. The last romantic thing I watched was Yuri On Ice.

MonBon 02-14-2017 09:26 PM

Yes, TiMer!

I can understand that Den.

Bruh, Kill Bill is my life

Quiet Man Cometh 02-14-2017 10:13 PM

I'm not a Romance or a Rom-Com type, either, but since it was mentioned, The Princess Bride probably would be at the top of that list. The only other romantic movies that I can think of that I'd watch again would be Chocolat or Benny and Joon. Both of those have Johnny Depp.

Rainbowfox Ari 02-14-2017 11:35 PM

I am NOT a romance type of fan, unless it's Yaoi - but that's neither here nor there. >>
I think most rom-coms are kinda poorly written. XD

I love Titanic it's a romantic yet it's also very sad movie

MonBon 02-15-2017 12:41 PM

I agree Ari,

I still get into moods to watch them all the same.
My favorite is probably the wedding date. Not even really sure why, I just actively seek it out from time to time

My favorite part of Titanic is when it's sinking and everyone is running around and panicking...
>8D

Pessimisticat 02-15-2017 08:22 PM

I don't think I've ever seen The Princess Bride.
I do like rom-coms, though, but can't really think of one off the top of my head to be a favorite. xD

MonBon 02-15-2017 08:42 PM

That is very fair Pessi ^^
Your avi is v cute btw

The propeller guy that Billy Crystal sang about at the Oscar's that year?

Never did see Titanic. As far as I was concerned, I knew what was going to happen so what was the point? Of course it was going to be sad!

I haven't seen enough Rom-Coms to have much of an opinion on how well they may or may not be written. It's just not my sort of story.

Miss Sandman 02-16-2017 05:56 AM

in german this movie called "ein ganzes halbes jahr" its so sad :( i like sad movies

Miss Sandman 02-16-2017 07:07 AM

Miss Sandman 02-16-2017 09:08 AM

MonBon 02-16-2017 04:51 PM

oh lilith iam from germany i dont know how it calls in english ^^ i didnt find it o_o

Quiet Man Cometh 02-17-2017 04:08 AM

IMDB will usually have films listed with their alternate titles if those are available in North America. German films should be on there as well. What's the German name?

UnmaskedHearts 02-17-2017 03:10 PM

I don't watch a whole lot of romance movies but I watch all the Jane Austen adapted movies :) The love is sweet and oft times unrequited but I can't help watching the movies over and over again.

Ginger 02-21-2017 01:50 PM

Stuck In Love is probably my favorite! I highly recommend.

MonBon 02-21-2017 03:02 PM

Ooh what's that one about Ginger?

Ginger 02-21-2017 05:14 PM

It's about a family of authors and the father's wife left him. He waits patiently for her to change her mind.

MonBon 02-21-2017 05:19 PM

I'll have to check it out sometime ^^

Ginger 02-21-2017 07:47 PM

It's more of an Indie film, but I love it... There are elements of humor.

Ginger 02-26-2017 07:36 PM

I was more impressed with Begin Again than I thought I would be. It's a movie that has a slower pace, but the higher points make up for it. There's another movie called Laggies that I'm in love with.
