Memory of Trisphee Past

I was poking around in some stuff this evening, trying to make some plans, and I came across something over five years old:

http://trisphee.com/site-assets/blastfromthepast.png

Trisphee's changed a lot since then, hasn't it?

EDIT: ... Man, I can't BELIEVE that it says "Welcome to the Trisphee." I thought for sure I would have caught that in copy editing. XD But truth be told, I don't remember ever noticing it -- this is new to me!

Espy 12-12-2015 01:32 AM

This is...after "Trisphe"?

Quiet Man Cometh 12-12-2015 01:37 AM

Really easy to overlook errors, especially if you made them yourself.

Copy editing sucks. I don't actually recall how much of it I did, but I recall that it sucked. Or maybe it was pricing it out?

Coda 12-12-2015 01:41 AM

It's a good year and a half after "Trisphe." The extra e came before I ever joined the site; that layout is 100% my code. I think I did a good job with it, especially since it rendered right in IE6, but it definitely looks dated.

And actually I didn't write that myself. It was autogenerated by vBulletin; I've since rewritten that template. And since it doesn't show up when you're logged in, I very rarely had a reason to look at it.

I remember a time when the site was all blue and empty. When these forums we're all fresh and ready for thread making.

Gallagher 12-12-2015 01:50 AM

Ay yo, I don't remember any of this shit. I don't believe it happened.

Espy 12-12-2015 01:59 AM

Shoo, Galla, you joined later than I did.

Illusion 12-12-2015 02:02 AM

It's been so many years since then... I miss a lot of the people who left.

Can the admins be given a special button that places duct tape on people's avatars so they're stuck on the site and won't leave us?

Tohopekaliga 12-12-2015 02:07 AM

Duct tape is, sadly, ineffective at holding people in place on the internet.

That blue theme is actually default vBulletin...I'm guessing that was right when Trisphee's forums got set up.

Then we should use glue! Clearly that is the only answer!

.. The blue forums we're pretty old. At least the site design we have now still looks far better then it did back then.

I missed out on Trisphe.

I came when the second e was added. I'm digging that paper/texture style. It feels so phresh and different.

Lucid: 12-12-2015 04:07 AM

The old Trisphe forums were so dang dark. I kinda like dark color schemes, but it would feel really out of place now. And there wasn't really anything special about the forums since they were pre-beta and didn't need to actually DO anything. We didn't even have avatars over there.

One of my favorite memories was on April Fools' Day, when Coda not only flipped everybody upside down but also changed up the staff name colors to confuse everyone. The irony is, I ended up being a developer-colored name in the end anyway.

I missed that day. >/ I forgot why, I remember logging on the very next day and was confused beyond belief on why everyone said their avatars we're flipped upside down.

Lucid: 12-12-2015 04:40 AM

Dang it Illu, for the past 6 years you have had ONE JOB, and that is to log in to Trisphee every single day and complain about stuff. How do you screw that up. :|

I spent a day complaining about other stuff instead.

Lucid: 12-12-2015 02:53 PM

UNACCEPTABLEEEEEEEE!!!

You can't leave us; we demand all your attention.

Glitch 12-12-2015 03:33 PM

You know, I had forgotten, but at seeing your picture Lucid, I remember Trisphe now. I'm pretty sure I had an account! I'm also pretty sure I got upset when everything changed so I missed out on a ton of stuff! And then one day I discovered the bit about the extra e and then I came back.

Coda 12-12-2015 06:56 PM

The extra "e" is a dodge because the coder that abandoned the site before I came on the scene raised a stink about owning the "Trisphe" trademark. I'm not even sure that works, legally speaking, but I also don't think that coder actually had rights over the trademark in the first place.

Espy 12-12-2015 06:59 PM

Lol wait what. How did that coder think that worked?

Coda 12-12-2015 07:14 PM

I just realized it's possible it was someone that wasn't the coder who left in a huff. It's entirely possible that this person actually might have had some grounds to lay a claim to the trademark.

Lucid: 12-13-2015 12:57 AM

I wouldn't know who it was. I wasn't on staff back then, despite the screenshot. I actually stole that from Chi. xD

I remember trying to get on the Tripshe forums and it being completely gone. I started up a google chat with (I assume) Fen, through the Tripshe@gmail account, and she told me about the extra e. I was mad that my user number ended up higher than on the original site.

Tohopekaliga 12-13-2015 01:10 AM

I think "Trisphee" is a better name, anyway. :P

Coda 12-13-2015 01:24 AM

Agreed. It looks friendlier, more fun and less pretentious, and most of all it's more obvious how it's supposed to be pronounced. :P

Lucid: 12-13-2015 02:09 AM

Apparently I also typo it less. With one e I keep typing "tripshe" instead of "trisphe". And yeah, a ton of people pronounced it "Tris-fuh" back then. I'm glad it's changed.

Coda 12-13-2015 02:17 AM

I would have thought "tris-FAY" or perhaps even one (awkward) syllable.

Illusion 12-13-2015 02:37 AM

Always sounded like (Tris Fay) to me as well.

Trisphee sounds much better indeed.

Espy 12-13-2015 02:50 AM

TrisfffFFFFFFFFTH.

You mean like that, right? ....Right?

Coda 12-13-2015 03:07 AM

Yes, that's exactly the awkward monosyllable I had in mind. :P Except possibly with a long i because of the final e. So like "tripe" but with a ssff.

Glitch 12-13-2015 05:11 AM

I said Trisphe too xD I thought it was fancy.

Obsidian 12-13-2015 08:12 AM

I like Trisphee better than Trisphe. ._.

Trisphe seems more like "Tris fah" to me.
And I've always pronounced Trisphee ans "Tris fee" (Free without the R).

Ginger 12-14-2015 03:45 AM

Oh wow... it really has changed! Thanks so much to our artists and coders, past and present, for all of the work you've put into Trisphee!

trystan830 12-14-2015 12:21 PM

that looks like it was fun! upside avis can walk on the top of your posts then, right? ;)

also, i do like that paper/parchment background!

Poggio 12-14-2015 01:57 PM

XD I don't suppose that Coda has screen shots from when the forums cracked or the banner that Gannesa (sp?, uh the Artist on DA) ... the one that had the Anka in it?

Pinkie 12-14-2015 02:05 PM

I'm happy with what we have now, let's just say that.

Yes I am as well but I feel it's about time for a new one. The old one was still good with the Anka...this one is better because of the art but now it's time for a new one!

littl3chocobo 12-14-2015 02:54 PM

what, you are saying we need art that is not dusty generic titty art? XD pishaw!
