Once Upon A Time & the like

Cuella in Once Upon a Time looked pretty ridiculous.

She had a bitchin' car, though.

Glitch 11-27-2015 09:03 PM

I agree with all of that. But what reason did she have to be in once upon a time? so stupid.

Tohopekaliga 11-27-2015 09:04 PM

Once Upon a Time is basically the ultimate crossover fanfic.

Sanctioned by Disney.

littl3chocobo 11-27-2015 09:30 PM

non, into the woods was better<3

ml1201 11-27-2015 10:44 PM

Wait, her name is Cuella and not Cruella? You mean I've been saying it wrong for twenty years!? D:

Lawtan 11-27-2015 10:45 PM

If you did, so did I...

ml1201 11-27-2015 11:16 PM

Well, I think the guy that was the main character (did the humans even have names? I don't remember ^^; ) made a song mocking her name before the puppies got kidnapped I think and said that. But googling her seems to imply I said her name correctly?

Tohopekaliga 11-27-2015 11:59 PM

No, it's definitely Cruella. I typed it wrong, it would seem.

Sadly it is.

I like it for that and also dislike it for it as well.

They've been hinting at Greek mythology all season. I bet next season after the winter break is going to show Hercules, Hades, and all of the gods of Olympus.
Hades is the only big Disney villain who hasn't appeared in the show yet.

Tohopekaliga 11-28-2015 12:53 AM

They even have a proper author self-insert, which is especially funny to me.

Glitch 11-28-2015 01:41 AM

I have watched every episode. . . I liked it for the first season but everything since I Just cringe more and more. Especially during the peter pan and frozen seasons.

I enjoyed the self author self-insert. I'm just disappointed that Merlin was the wizard and not Yen Sid.

This show is just begging for a Kingdom Hearts crossover. I bet their just waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 to release so the show can tie in with the game.

Obsidian 11-28-2015 02:38 AM

I haven't been keeping up with this new season. Going to wait until all the episodes are out before I start. >->
I'd rather wait for a complete season rather than wait for a new episode. X]

I like Once Upon A Time. I love how they change it up a bit.

Lucid: 11-28-2015 04:37 AM

I never watched Once Upon A Time, but I have to agree with Choco that Into The Woods is a superior crossover just out of principle.

littl3chocobo 11-28-2015 04:45 AM

ehehehe~ my second favorite movie has been validated!

Lucid: 11-28-2015 05:00 AM

<3
I saw a professional stage performance of Into The Woods about 5 or 6 years ago and love it, so I was WAY excited about the movie. It lived up to my expectations and then some. It was an amazing adaptation.

littl3chocobo 11-28-2015 05:14 AM

<3<3 that sounds pretty amazing~ i only know the old movie ver(though that is amazing too). did you get a souvenir of the experience?

Glitch 11-28-2015 05:24 AM

my favorite movie is the Tenth Kingdom!

littl3chocobo 11-28-2015 05:48 AM

what is it about?

Glitch 11-28-2015 05:59 AM

It came out in 2001, the fairy tale kingdom crosses over into New York and it has cinderella and snow white and the evil queen and a bunch of them in it

Obsidian 11-28-2015 06:34 AM

I got cake. >->

Too bad it's not a cake splatter on my face. I'd have liked that.

Ooooh, yeah I forgot about the old movie. I've never had a chance to see it. :c

I had a playbill from when I saw it on stage, but I think my parents got rid of my box of playbils when they moved. Can't blame 'em. I didn't want to lug them around with me when I went to college, so why should they want to pack them either? xP

That would be awesome! Especially considering Kingdom Hearts is its own mashup of Disney crossovers. I really doubt Disney/ABC is cool enough to bring in video game characters though. The main audience of the show is middle aged women, as far as I know.

I've got an extra cake! Anyone wanna trade? =3

If the audience is middle age woman wouldn't it make sense to introduce a video game that would bring in the middle age men and kids in in as well? It wouldn't ruin the show for anyone, it would just make other people start watching the show to understand or know why Sora is in it. That's what they did to introduce people to Once Upon A Time with Elsa and Merida.

I don't think the audience for the show and kingdom hearts is middleaged but you get the idea.

CupcakeDolly 11-28-2015 11:49 PM

It WOULD make sense to bring the fans of both KH and Once together, but I don't think Disney is ballsy enough to go for it. The people I know who watch the show are mostly women in their fifties who know little to nothing about video games, and I imagine they would just get confused or even annoyed by the presence of a little kid with a giant key who, as far as they know, has nothing to do with Disney or fairy tales in general. xD
If they could get a decent actor for Sora I would absolutely love to be proven wrong though! And it would be pretty nifty to see human versions of Donald and Goofy. x3

littl3chocobo 11-29-2015 01:07 AM

i don't know any women in the 30-60 range(middle age) who does not play videogames >x> you should probably reiterate that they do not generally play games aimed at persons under 18. kingdomhearts is for little kids and teens for sure but that does not mean others, especially women, are totally ignorant of them x_____x; also take note that kingdomhearts is primarily disney and i can't think of any americans who are not saturated in disney to some degree

also the point of introing in persons from other shows games and movies IS to get them to try new things, has been that way for decades

Glitch 11-29-2015 01:38 AM

Just going to say this. If they bring in kingdom hearts, there is lit. no reason they don't bring in star wars characters.

The area where I'm from is pretty conservative, so most women that age are unfortunately still of the 'video games teach violence to kids' mindset. Even the girls my age are mostly the 'I kick ass at Halo and CoD, does that make me more attractive??' type of gamers, if they even play at all. ._.;;
That's just what I think based on the people I know who watch Once though. I can't imagine any of them being excited about bringing in KH characters the same way they were about Elsa at the end of the last season.

Seriously! That would be a stretch though, considering... 'a long, long time ago galaxy far away etc. etc. etc.'
But then again, Once takes a lot of liberties with defying logic. xD

Tohopekaliga 11-29-2015 01:47 AM

I think they probably wouldn't bring Kingdom Hearts in, since they've not brought in any other purely disney characters (Mickey Mouse and company). It's all at least ostensibly fairy tales. (Granted, Frozen was pushing that..but it fit thematically.)

Glitch 11-29-2015 01:47 AM

it mixed king arthur with the little mermaid you know, they can do anything.

ALso, that's why we're friends ouo

Yeahhh, it wasn't TOO much of a stretch considering Frozen was loosely based on a classic fairytale, but it was still a super obvious Disney plug. ^ ^;

fair enough XD though i cannot imagine a place like that without thinking of prohibition-era dust-covered plains and people in gingham and white jean hahahaha

That's... pretty close, actually. o.o

littl3chocobo 11-29-2015 02:27 AM

oh jeez ;______; really? -weeps softly in a corner-

ml1201 11-29-2015 09:10 AM

I need to watch more of that show, just to understand what's going on. ^^; (it's an interesting show but isn't as good as others in my opinion).

Glitch 11-29-2015 02:52 PM

But seriously, Tenth Kingdom. You can watch it on hulu >3> They broke it up into episodes because it is 10 hours long. But it's 10 hours of wonderful goodness.

Tohopekaliga 11-29-2015 04:11 PM

I remember watching some of Tenth Kingdom. Seemed interesting, although I lost track of it.

Illusion 11-29-2015 11:25 PM

*finishes watching the new Once Upon A Time*

Okay so again their hinting at the underworld for what it seems like the 5th or 6th time. I looked online and found out that have been casting for a Hercules, Hades, and Meg.

So Hercules next season is a sure thing.

The show has did a great job avoiding Gods all this time, but where can they go after this? What tops Gods and their magic?

I think the only other major Disney villains besides Hades that I can think of is Scar from Lion King and the Shadowman from Princess and the Frog. Unless they do go the Kingdom Hearts route and bring out Xehanort. Who else could there be? Yzma? The one guy from Mulan.

There's definitely some good villains left to try out but I think the show is reaching it's end.

Warning Spoilers Ahead!

This show is barely still managing to hold my attention because at this point it's almost nothing but redundancy.

Although there was a certain beauty to Hook's death/sacrifice and the acting was phenomenal, it was a carbon copy of a scene in the 90's show 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and OUAT has over exhausted killing off characters just to bring them back an episode or two later.
I'm not a fan of the concept of bringing characters back from the dead to begin with (unless it's done extremely well but that rarely happens) so when it's done more than once that's just a big NO from me.

The whole Rumple taking back the Dark One powers/betraying Belle after he just got her trust AGAIN thing royally pissed me off. Why the fuck does she keep returning to him?! I'm so done with them.

Don't even get me started on the whole Zelena/Robin Hood baby thing. Robin Hood is an idiot to give a shit about her or that baby after what Zelena did to him to conceive on top of being a useless character. I'm into to his relationship with Regina but all he's done this season so far is stand there and exist! I'd like to see him grow some balls.

It's the whole underworld thing they're still holding onto me by a thread with. I've read on Facebook that they've cast Hades, one of my all time favorite Disney villains.

Illusion 02-15-2016 04:37 PM

Well almost everyone who doesn't have magic is useless now. All they really can do is just talk things out with people or fight non-magical people.
