New turning point (ml x kagu x chlo) -M-
Disclaimer: This roleplay will potentially have gore, violence, language, and sexual as well as other mature themes. IF you are not of the mature age or are squeamish we would like to take this opportunity to ask you to leave. That was your one and only warning... have a nice day
In the year 2230, an unmentionable event happened, a third world war broke out. No-one seen it coming as the Russian dictator Pavel Bobrov tried to do what every dictator before him had tried and that was to become the sole leader of the world, however, the other world leaders wouldn't roll over and give him what he wanted so easily and so mounted a defence against his invasion. As in previous world wars the general public of the world where only given pieces of what was going on and never knew the whole story. Then the unthinkable happened, virus's where released. It had been the one thing that everyone had feared, but no-one ever thought they would ever be stupid enough to have done it. Five hundred years have now passed since the viral holocaust and the plagues release, even to this day no one knows who released the first plague or even the first missile. All anyone knows is we are the ones who survived and no one is safe. There are two plagues that people now know off 'The Siren's Whisper' which is believed to be airborne and 'Submerged Ripple' which is believed to be in the water. At first people thought there was a new type of cold and and increase in those with mental illness so no-one took much notice... How wrong we where, and it was far to late... to do anything. Those who had contracted 'The Siren's Whisper', soon banded together with people who they said 'thought the same as them', but this was the worse thing they could do as the plague spread, murder and mayhem soon followed within small conclaves of these 'like minded people'. Those unfortunate enough to have contracted 'Submerged Ripple' where in for a year of excruciating pain eventually ending in an agonizing death, never to be buried for fear of contracting the same illness. It has been documented that because of the war, countries like Japan and the United Kingdom have been wiped off the map as have any other island like country and are destined to become myths like Atlantis. Countries like Australia and China are half gone, either blown to smithereens or submerged because of massive tidal waves. Some countries seem to have been lucky enough not get to much geological damage but who knows what lies beneath that fragile surface. Technology has become wonky in the years following the war, many seem to have grown in intelligence, some even claim to have a souls. Though there are those who are rusted, falling a part and despise their former Human masters for as they claim 'abandoning them'. This story begins in what once was the metropolis of Chicago. It looks nothing of it's former self, building turned to ruins, bodies, some still decaying, around every corner. It is definitely not a safe place for any living being to be, but it still has many resources that haven't been touched in years. The city used to be one of the highest on the US map for radiation levels, but over the years it has dwindled down to be almost zero. |

A young girl using an old tattered blanket as a cloak hides in the shadows of the building across from the rundown super market across the paved road, or at least that's what the building claims to be with the letters on it's front. Tabitha, a teenage girl, quickly scans her surroundings before making a run across the road. The food there from when the building wasn't in ruins was no longer edible, but that's not the reason why she was there. She had been lucky that someone transporting food supplies didn't notice some of the fruit fall out of their basket while traveling into the region where some people not infected by the viruses live. She only went to that place when she couldn't find food, which in a ruined city like this was pretty hard at times.
Taking refuge inside Tabitha carefully scans her surroundings, hoping no wild animals where here that could attack her. Near the back she finds a door partially off it's hinges, pushing past to a room filled with decayed clothing, but notices some clothes of some kind that haven't deteriorated as much yet. Hurrying over to it she turns it into her bed, ignoring the smell as best she could. A lot of cities from hundreds of years ago were like this now, though some are in the process of being rebuilt, just not this one quite yet. Thus making it a good place to hide from people. She didn't hate people, but after being betrayed by her family like she was she was scared to go near people again. The fear of hunters chasing her down and trying to kill her terrified her to no end. And when she was terrified...she didn't even want to think about it since she doesn't like to hurt people. Curling up in her blanket she wore over her clothing, she settles down to sleep. Crying to herself because her heart aches with betrayal and loneliness. |
A young man woke inside a finely crafted carriage carriage which had been tumbled onto it's side, the crimson and gold silk curtains laying in tatters as they hung out of the window. Moving to stand he didn't realize how his long snow white hair was slightly stained by his carmine blood and how it had now stuck to his face. He moved his hand to his head wincing as he tried to make sense of what had happened on his way back home. "Where we attacked?" he whispered to himself scanning the area around himself to see if it would be safe enough to get out of the carriages safety. "Where is everyone else?" his eyes widening as he seen people scattered around, some he knew others he did not and felt his heart fill with dread.
His ice blue eyes now scanning once more for somewhere to stay because something told him that the carriage wouldn't keep him safe after the stench of death caught the nostrils of a predator. Opening the door he carefully he moved out of the carriage carrying a few supplies with him so he would have something safe to eat and drink; he knew with it he could also barter to get back to the safety to the city. As he stepped onto the dusty ground his nose wrinkled as if it was complete heresy for him to walk on such filth, he dusted off his white kimono trying to get his bearings, on seeing lights in the distance however it gave him hope and he headed in their direction all the while keeping alert to animals and other dangers. He had no idea what to expect considering he never normally spoke to people others done that for him. |
Hearing a commotion further off outside of the building, Tabitha bundles her blanket around her like a cloak again. Heading towards the way she entered the building she carefully scans about the place, not wanting to get surprised by a hunter if they were able to find her again. Looking out the grime covered glass for the building's entrance from behind some rusted metal walls she sees a shadow moving. Whoever it was had been talking, but to who or what she wasn't sure, all she knew was that it was gradually making its way towards the building. Shaking, she looks around her for something she could use to defend herself, spotting some sort of metal rod that had an unknown kind of decayed material at the end of it and holds it close to her chest. Peeking around the corner the shadow is getting bigger and bigger, but still not discernible with the poor lighting in the building.
Waiting for the being to get closer she steels herself, getting up the courage to confront whatever it was heading towards her. Better to know what she faced than not to know. Jumping out from behind the wall she hols the rod out in front of herself and ward whoever it was off. "D-d-d-don't come any closer! I-I-I'm not afraid to defend myself!" The rod visibly shakes in her hands, the air around them becoming slightly colder than what it was. |
Akio continued to walk scanning his surroundings at all times, he almost looked disgusted at the rubble that would pass as a city "eww..." he whispered as he came to a sudden stop as he heard a stuttered voice trying to seem like it had conviction, his eyes came to study the girl and her make shift weapon "uh-hu..." he said stepping forward shivering a little feeling the temperature drop his eyes looking around once more before going to her once more with suspicion. He knew it had to be her that was causing it, it was the wrong season for it to be so cold.
"Are you a damned fool?" he stated as if he was unimpressed at how she reacted to him "If you are going to threaten someone A) make sure you have conviction to do so" he started taking another step towards her gracefully, his every movement seemed as if it was deliberate "B) make sure you can take them down and C) this is the most important one..." he said gripping the pole "make sure they are a threat" he stated as if he was talking to a simpleton "Do I look like a threat seriously? I'm unarmed now put this thing down before you do harm to yourself and most likely me" he said touching his head as he started to feel dizzy, blood still slightly running from his head "My carriage was attacked" he said pulling his hand back looking for something to wipe his hand on to get rid of whatever dirt the rod had on it. He looked at the girl the best he could looking her up and down almost in pity at what she was wearing. He couldn't make sense of why she would wear such things it made him feel so unclean and he wasn't the one wearing them. "So do you... um..." he looked around the desolate street "Do you call this dump home?" he asked unable to believe anyone would live in the ruins of old. |
At the sound of authority in the man's voice she jumps, the temperature dropping even more noticeably. Shaking with fright ice begins to form on the ground around her until he grabs the rod. Jumping back away from him after he lets go, she drops the rod, it being covered in ice where she had gripped it. Tears run down her cheeks, the combination of fear and having been treated in such a manner upsetting her even more.
"H-h-how was I supposed to know that in this lighting? I-I-I could barely even make out a shadowy form coming towards me!" Seeing him wince in pain though makes her flinch, feeling bad for not noticing his injury. Gingerly, she gets closer to him, looking for something clean to bandage his wound with. "W-w-why would a place like this be my home?I j-j-just stopped here for the night to r-r-rest. I can't s-s-stay in one place for long." She nervously looks between him and the ground, noticing how much better condition his clothing is to her clothing. "W-w-we should get you bandaged up. D-d-do you have some clean c-c-clothing that can be turned into b-b-bandages?" Her voice is shaky as she stutters, the temperature dropping again slightly since she wants to help him, but also nervous as to whether he might try something to her while she's near him. |
Aiko looked around feeling the temperature drop once more, shivering as he started to be affected by the cold. "Are you the once causing the cold?" he asked knowing that it was starting to become summer, but right now it felt closer to becoming winter. To help the situation become less tense between then he took a few steps backwards his feet moving to the exact spots he had used to move forward. His ice blue eyes looking at the clanging bar on the ground "Ice? In summer?" he seemed surprised as he raised his eyes quickly to the girl in front of him "Okay... what are you?" he couldn't help but ask all the while studying her and each micro movement she made
"You can stop crying..." he sighed his hand going to his head out of complete frustration though pulled it back wincing as he touched the injured part of his head his eyes going wide seeing the blood not in shock but almost in fear and anger "This will not stand!" he growled to himself his eyes going to her "I need to wash and now, this filth has to get off my body... I need to be cleansed" his tone made it seem almost like an order to her. Hearing her words he stopped his own train of thought for a moment though continued to scan for somewhere to wash "If you hadn't come out like an idiot then you would have seen me pass in better light and would have been able to assess from the shadows if I was indeed a threat or not, but it seems common sense escapes you." he said almost in a dismissive tone as he moved forward towards what seemed like a nearby lake. "Yes, I have clean clothing, just let me pull it out of my obi... oh wait..." he shook his head at the ignorance of the girl "What kind of stupid question is that" he completely dismissed everything the girl had said about being unable to stay in one area for to long, not really caring just wanting to feel clean again. "So is it safe around here or is it just you I have to worry about killing me?" he muttered glancing over his shoulder "and is the water here still infected or is it purified?" his voice showing he really needed to know before even thinking about stepping into what could be a polluted or virus riddled lake. |
Tabitha doesn't answer his first question, tears still falling down her cheeks. When he moves back she does become less tense, the temperature rising once more. When he notices the ice and questions her about it however, she backs off from him, great sorrow noticeable on her face.
"I'm human just like my family and just like you." She can't bring herself to look at him, too afraid to see the fear of her in his eyes. When he becomes authoritative again she jumps again, looking up at him in surprise. The temperature does drop again, but the distance was great enough to not affect him again, though the temperature was causing her to shiver. "It's not a matter of common sense, its a matter of surviving. I don't want to die, I almost did once as is." Trying to wipe away her tears she gets up the courage to answer him properly. "I don't want to hurt anyone, at least not intentionally. But there are those out there who want to hurt me as I've found out from experience. They might even kill you if they found out you were with me, because...well..." Throwing up her hand she creates an icicle that spears up towards the sky, then brings down her hand to turn it into snow. "I don't know if the water is clean since I'm not from here. But there's a group of people not infected living near here so I would think the water is safe." Tired and more relaxed now, the temperature returns to normal. "And what's an...obi...?" She falls back against the metal wall behind her, coughing and shivering from the affects of the cold. "Darn, I let myself get too cold again. Oh, wait, I can make the blood stuff flowing for you, that's the filth on your head as you keep calling it." Watching him she waits for his answer. |
Aiko closed his eyes sighing his irritation with the girls whimpers and sniffling grinding on his nerves "will you please stop that crying, last thing either of us want is to become an ice cube thanks to your what seems to be unstable emotional abilities" he calmly snapped at her continuing to walk towards the lake though kept scanning for any signs of an ambush or any other kind of issues "true humans can not control the temperature so sorry to burst your delusional bubble, but we are not the same" the way he spoke it was as if he was stating a basic fact.
"There is no need to be so jumpy, if you do you will stand out like a soar thumb and it will be used to a predators advantage to take you out" again he stated it as if it was a well known fact "You could be strong, but as it stands you are a danger to not only yourself but anyone near you" he closed his eyes sighing his head lowering before glancing back to her "You are going to end up as dead as these animals if you continue being jumpy" he said pointing to some of the animals that seemed to be hunted for nothing more than sport "some hunters, hunt your kind for nothing but sport but call it 'purifying'." his voice softer as he spoke the last word. "Well you are not good at the latter either it seems" he said with a sigh "Your survival instinct should have been to arm yourself but keep hidden until you could see friend or foe; or gain the upper hand to knock out your potential attacker but you intercepted me without knowing" he said honestly shivering once again as he felt the temperature once again dropping "And will you quit it, these clothes are not fit for winter" he snapped wishing she would just calm down. He rolled his eyes "I highly doubt I would be killed for being near you, unlike you I am no threat." he said honestly "You would likely be taken as a specimen or at least something of you would, I have no idea how the vile side of things work" he said in honestly, then again he really didn't care so longs he didn't need to be anywhere near it. On seeing the ice spear he jamp back in surprise and fear the rations he had taken with him now falling on the floor "W-w-what on earth a-a-a-are you?" he stuttered now knowing he should have just stayed in his carriage and awaited rescue. He moved his hand to the sash around his waist "t-t-that's an obi" he again stuttered his eyes never moving from the spear of ice "a-and just because people seem uninfected doesn't make it true" he said standing dusting off his kimono again his nose wrinkled at just how increasingly dirty he was becoming "no, the stuff on my head is blood. I am not dense..." he rolled his eyes not believing he had to explain what he meant. "When I say filth, I mean dirt, grime and the likes" he said honestly |
Looking down at her feet she shakes her head, "I can control my powers, but when I become afraid its at times hard to control because of this instinct as you put it. When you first approached me and grabbed that rod I had to keep myself in check so that I wouldn't stab you with an icicle. Which was the reason why I jumped back after you let go, I don't want to hurt people which is why I worked hard for years to control my powers." When she sees his fear of her she steps further away from him.
"Like I said, I'm human since I was born to a human family. My mother, father and older brother are all human...though they are probably dead now because of what I can do. I can't be mad at them either...Their fear of me became too much." Sighing she walks over to him, standing just a couple feet away from him. "Let me at least harden your blood where the wound is so that you don't loose too much more blood. I won't have to touch you, I just need to see where the wound is. I promise I won't do anything. Why would I since you're the first person I've spoken to in nearly a year?" There's a pleading look in her eyes, she just wanted someone to accept her, not fear her like she was some kind of monster. Her hands shake because this was the closest she's been to a person in a long time, and she wanted to trust him, just like she wanted him to trust that she wouldn't hurt him. |
He rolled his eyes "It is not how I put it, it is what it is." he explained simply "Your instinct is to survive, but your instinct for that is weak." he stated as it was a matter of fact, though turned and looked to her "Do you even stop to think before you speak?" he couldn't help but ask "You grab a weapon to prevent you from creating a weapon..." he sighed shaking his head his eyes scanning the water his nose wrinkling something telling him it was far from being pure. "I need to go" he said gently as he walked off not even worried about his supplies.
He shook his head "No, humans can't make ice" he stated continuing to walk away from her "I am guessing that depends on wither people know about your frosty ways" he said honestly "If they do, then there is a good possibility after all people are offered a reward for notifying the authorities" he stated not bothering to look back "And no thank you, I'd rather not be touched by your curse" he wrinkled his nose as he spoke about her abilities. Hearing the next part he stopped "A year?" he sounded astonished by what he heard "come along... I'll protect you... just no ice or dropping the temperature" he said starting to walk once more. |
Deciding it was probably better not to point out that an unarmed girl was less threatening than one that was since she's noticed his unusually sharp tongue. She watches as he begins to leave, unable to take her eyes from him since it seems like he would probably be the last person she would talk to. Him referring to her powers as a curse piercing her heart much like first time she had hurt a person. When she sees his reaction to finding out the last time she had spoken to a person and hears his response to that she gets excited, the coldness completely lifting.
"Thank! You don't know how happy that makes me!" Quickly she gathers up the things he had dropped and hurries to catch up with him. "I'll do my best to keep my powers under control, I promise! My name is Tabitha by the way, what's your name?" Smiling she's happy to finally have someone to talk to. |
Akio continued walking not paying attention to what was going on behind him, his eyes continuously scanning in the hopes that someone would find him and take him back to some sort of normality, but he was doubtful knowing it would be most likely they would be attacked especially given the time he guessed it was. Hearing her words he nodded "Thank you, the last thing I need is for someone to cart you away while you are near me" he said calmly "I am Aiko" he said bluntly leaving it at that as he continued to walk "If you are hungry or thirsty help yourself to the supplies"
|
"Thanks, but I'm good. I had seen merchants earlier today drop some fruit on my way here, so after I couldn't see them anymore I grabbed the fruit and had some of that before trying to settle down for the night. Then I heard some kind of commotion and went to see what it was when I came across you. Where are we going anyways? Do you know of a town near here or something? And where were you headed before you were attacked?" Tabitha was nearly bouncing with joy being able to talk to someone again. She of course had so many questions and was hoping she wouldn't make him change his mind with all of them. Though now that she thought about it why was he traveling in these parts? He sticks out like a sore thumb even more so than she did because of the way he dresses and talks. Until now she's never seen anyone who's worn an obi before, just dresses, shirts and pants made from rough materials, not like the shiny material he was wearing.
"Do you have any family? What's it like to be able to travel in a carriage? And shouldn't you be resting since you got hurt or are you not concerned about your injury? If you 're still looking to get washed up you might be better off going to the river, but I don't know if the water is clean there." |
Akio continued to walk nodding to Tabitha's words, but knew fruit wasn't a proper meal and soon she would be hungry again. "That food will fill you more than fruit, not to mention that it is purified unlike what you had most likely eaten" he said honestly he sighed hearing her spouting out question after question. It irritated him that as he tried to answer one question, she gave a new one "Enough!" he said coming to an immediate halt "You realize you are asking far to many questions at once I can not possibly hope to process it all" he said with a frustrated sigh "One question at a time." he almost demanded before continuing to walk his every movement showing he placed it there for a reason.
|
"Sorry, guess I got a bit carried away there." She laughs nervously, wondering how a person can get angry so easily but decides its better not to ask that question. "Do you know where we were going? I personally don't know how to tell what direction to go or how to tell which why I'm going. I'm just hoping that we don't end up getting lost somehow." Taking out the food she looks it over, not really sure what to make of it. "I have no clue how to tell when food is purified, it all tastes the same to me, and I've never gotten sick besides the occasional sniffles after making myself too cold..." Though thinking about it she was the only one in her family to not get sick. Even her parents at times would catch a cold or something but it never seemed to happen to her.
"...Maybe I'm not human then, but if that's the case what am I?" She whispers under her breath. Her heart is burdened with sorrow at the thought of not being what she thought was had been for as long as she can remember, but keeps her powers in check because she promised Akio she would. |
Akio nodded his hair moving with each slight movement "To say the least" he sighed continuing to move towards where he was going "I am heading home" he stated as if it was a matter of fact "It isn't that hard to navigate if you read the stars" he said covering his mouth with his sleeve as he yawned. He didn't understand why she felt like she needed to talk so much, it was getting on his nerves but he tried to allow her to work it out her system so he could eventually get the silence he was longing for.
"purified foods look, smell and taste different from normal foods" he said honestly "Make yourself sick..." he bit his tongue not wanting to insult how stupid that was "How do you expect me to answer that?" he asked sighing not knowing how to help her understand she is what she thought she was but wasn't at the same time. "don't worry about it" |
She follows him silently for a moment, a faint smile on her lips. "Thank you Akio for not being scared of me. I don't know what would have eventually happened to me if I hadn't of met you. Maybe eventually get the 'Siren's Whisper' or 'Submerged Ripple' like I've heard others have contracted." Picking out something that looks like a flat piece of dried out meat she begins gnawing on it.
"Fhis tuff es hard." It takes her a while to finally naw off a piece of it, and chews it for a long time before she can finally swallow it. "Another question, where were you headed before you were attacked? Because of how you're dressed I'm thinking it might have been bandits or something that figured they could make a large amount of money off of the stuff in your carriage. But it probably would have been smarter of them to have taken you with them unless they thought you were dead." Sticking the stripe back in her mouth she begins gnawing on it again to tear off another piece. |
The yellow cat-like eyes of the beautiful red haired girl narrowed, "Missing?" she hisses, turning away from the man who is kneeled before her, snapping the beautiful fan shut and smacking her hand with it in annoyance, "He knows this is the biggest event in both of our lives and he goes missing!" She pursues her lips in thought, "Or did he do it on purpose."
The man watches, flinching each time the fan hit the palm of the girl's hand. Catherine could be unpredictable, depending on her mood and wants. "Never mind what his excuse will be." Catty says, turning her attention back to the man, "Have my carriage ready, I will find him breathing or see his rotting corpse with my own eyes." "Yes, Miss." The man hurries off to do what Catty asked. Catty sighs, opening the fan and fanning herself a little, as she sits down to wait for the news that her carriage and guards are ready to leave. One could never be too careful, especially in this world. |
Akio continued walking sighing as he paused, his eyes closing. He hated walking especially in such a dirty place. "I am petrified of you" he said his tone lacking emotion as he looked around once more "I am good at hiding things and if we turn up in the city with me scared what do you think that would mean for you?" he said honestly as he started walking once more his hair fluttering a little with a passing breeze "Is it normally so cold?" he said mostly to himself but somehow he knew Tabitha would happily oblige him with an answer wither he wanted it or not.
He peered his eyes over his shoulder "I suspect you already have a strain of one, it's likely mutated where your family who most likely do have it have a basic strand of it" he said as if it where a matter of fact before looking where he was going once more "some things that have been created are absolutely horrible because of those viruses" his voice was whispered as if he where talking to himself, last thing he wanted was for his words to be overheard. "Are you from some backwards land or been raised on fairy tales?" he couldn't help himself from muttering "It's no longer like contracting a virus, it's rare to find someone without a virus" he said sighing "It's now in pretty much everyone's genes" he said going quiet once more. Akio looked at her as she tried to eat the meat sighing "because that meat isn't cooked or hydrated" he couldn't believe who he was now traveling with, she seemed so uneducated to him. "I was heading home before I was attacked" he stopped and bit his bottom lip "It wasn't bandits, it was something far more dangerous I fear" his voice calm as he spoke once more walking towards their destination. |
Tears shimmer in the corner of her eyes, her happiness now dashed since he was actually terrified of her even though she knew she wouldn't be able to bring herself to hurt him. "I guess you're right, to be afraid of me I mean..." Her voice is a mere whisper as she says this, frozen tears falling from her eyes. She was actually starting to not feel like talking anymore, so she didn't even reply to his comment about the chill. Him telling her that she's probably already infect and that the virus might actually be the cause of her powers just made her feel even worse, not better. Because that now meant that she was what probably caused her family to go nuts on her like they did. "I guess I'm like that too since I mad my family go crazy..." At this point her throat was horse from crying, making it harder and harder for her to even say anything. "If you mean can I read and write instead of listening to what my elders tell me about the world, the answer is no, I can't do those things. No one where I'm from could. We lived mostly out in the woods and usually just ate fruit and vegetables we could find that were knew weren't poisonous. So you talking about 'genes' doesn't make sense to me to be honest..." Hanging her head while she walks she avoids looking at him, knowing that he was only hiding his fear of her only made her feel like it was more and more like he might do something to her because of his fear.
"What could possibly be so dangerous besides things like bears and boars? They usually just leave people alone unless they go near their cubs and piglets. And most times you can just scare them off with fire anyways." Nibbling on the dried meat she becomes more and more tired, mostly from holding back her powers because of how upset she was getting. "Maybe you'd be better off without me tagging along...It's not like I can really fight anyways..." |
The streets were quiet as the carriage rolled along them, Catty was leaning against the plush seats, her yellow eyes trained out the window as her hands were folded neatly in her lap. Every where she looked there was death and rotting flesh, something she had gotten accustomed to in her short life as an average day.
Guards flanked the carriage on either side, their attention more focused on keeping Catty safe than looking for her betrothed. "Hmph." she huffs, knowing they would leaving the city soon and entering what was basically crowned as 'No Man's Land' cause very few had been known to survive there. After watching the last of the city fade away and just miles and miles of bare land, Catty frowns as the carriage halts to a stop suddenly. "Imbeciles." she mutters under her breath, stopping herself from falling into the floor, "Remind me to have whoever is driving this guts made into new boots for me." Moving to shove the door open so she can shout at the driver her displeasure, one of the guards points something out to her and Catty's eyes narrow into slits. And not caring about how dirty things were, she marches like a woman hell bent on destruction toward what is pointed out to her. ((occ: pretty much not gonna jump straight in)) |
Akio closed his eyes stopping believing he may have been harsh on his traveling companion but he couldn't help how he felt considering what she could do. "I'm sorry Tabitha... fear is the wrong word I guess." he said looking to her "I have never encountered someone who has been able to create ice out of thin air." he said gently walking back to her "I know you are not a bad person, and the chances are you would never hurt me." he smiled a little at her "So to be more precise I am not scared of you, but what you have the capacity of doing."
He quirked an eyebrow at what she said about making her family crazy, he sighed realizing she knew little to nothing about history. "It is unlikely you made your family insane Tabitha. It's more likely they had Siren's Whisper." he said trying to bring her some sort of comfort not that he knew how this would do it. He hoped the knowledge that it wasn't her who done it but something out of her control. "You can't read or write?" he seemed surprised but it explained why she knew little about the recorded history of the place "I will get you a tutor when we get home." he said moving closer to hug her seeing she needed it, his nose wrinkled at touching the dirty clothing she had on but it seemed the right thing to do. He pulled backwards and looked to her "There are hunters, purifiers, scientists, people who still have concentrated versions of the illnesses..." he said closing his eyes "Then there are experiments, and those who have had their genes spliced." he said honestly his eyes opening once more as he turned once more scanning the area "And the heaven's only know what come out in the darkness." he said quietly as he started to move forward once more. "You are going to stay with me, and fighting can be learned like everything else." |
Wiping her eyes she does her best to smile, feeling a bit better now that Akio explained how he felt better to her. "I guess I have a lot to learn...Wait, I'm going to be staying with you? And what's a tutor?" Stunned surprise could be seen on her face at him saying about having someone tutor her, she hadn't expected him to really do anything for her besides take her to a town or something.
"I would ask more questions about some of that stuff you just said, but I have a feeling it would take too long to explain. And the only reason why I think I might have been the cause of my family going crazy was because they weren't like that until after I showed signs of having this ice making power. The elders told me they were fine like the rest of them before that happened, but in all honesty I'm not even sure if what they said was the truth or not, everyone I knew was scared of me for as long as I could remember. Though like you it probably more so my powers than anything else, but unlike you they didn't even try to know me..." When they finally stopped somewhere she wanted to make something for him, being alone most of the time when she was done gathering food she had taught herself how to carve things. So she wanted to make him something as a token of thanks. |
occ: skipping post cause I am busy doing three things already and getting ready to start my new job tomorrow.

Akio nodded to what she said "More than you know." he explained as he continued walking scanning continuously, he couldn't shake the idea that something bad was going to happen. "Yes, unless you have somewhere to stay..." he paused for a moment "It's illegal to be on the streets after curfew, people have been executed for it." he said honestly continuing once more unfazed by what he had told her. "A tutor is a teacher, they help you learn new skills. Most of my teachers are from temples." he explained "But if you prefer regular teachers, I am sure there is a school you could go to" he stated stopping as he seen something on the horizon. He tilted his head as he tried to calculate if going forward would be the best course of action as neither of them where armed and his companion was no better than a can of worms when frightened.
He looked over his shoulder to her shaking his head "It wouldn't take to long to explain, but it would be unlikely you would understand and would have to ask more questions to the answers and we would go in a never ending spiral until I could simplify it in a way you would understand" he said, he didn't believe she was stupid just uneducated with gave her a handicap in his mind. His eyes went back to the thing he seen in the distance. "I mean no offense to your elders, but, the virus known as siren whisper is a psychological virus and effects every individual differently." he said covering his mouth as he yawned "To add to that like all viruses they can evolve, not just in the wild but inside people too and it can take years for the mutations to happen so where your parents and siblings went one way, yours may have went another" he explained as if it was just basic knowledge. |
Nodding her head as she takes in the information, she's not sure why she shouldn't be allowed out at night after a certain time, it hasn't done anything wrong to her yet. Thinking for a moment she decides that maybe one step at a time would be best, "It might be better if I have a tutor then first, its hard for me to trust people after what happened to my family to be honest. The only reason why I'm trusting you now is because I know you're injury weakens you, so if you were to attack me I'd have an advantage. Just like fighting off a wild boar from a tree, I can just drop icicles on them from the branches and eventually they leave me alone." Noticing him looking at the horizon she follows his gaze. "I can always make a shield out of my ice if we get attacked, and hold the limbs of anything that attacks too. I might not be able to actually fight, but I can at least defend when push comes to shove...But either way I don't want any trouble..."
She understands where he's coming from about the endless questions, she had always been asking questions as a child too, which didn't seem to settle well with the rest of the community she grew up in. Though she looks nervously at Akio when he yawns, thinking he's probably never had to stay up for so long before, "Do you want to try finding shelter until whatever that is has past and get some rest? If we find a cave I can make grey-brown color ice with the dirt to help hide us..." |
Catty got so far before getting upset over the fact her shoes were getting ruined, nobody was worth ruined shoes over. Returning back to the carriage, she surveys the damage already done before ordering the carriage to move in the direction that she had been heading.
Leaning back against the seat, Catty hopes her betrothed had nine lives, cause he was gonna need it. |
Akio looked to Tabitha for a moment before looking back seeing someone heading towards them. He remained quiet for a moment as if he wasn't paying attention, he sighed as the person walked back "please don't be her..." he whispered to himself before starting to walk towards where the person was his eyes paying attention more to where they where heading than anything else. "before you ask about the curfew, it wouldn't be just you it's city wide for everyone's safety. Thanks to the curfew being in place crime is non existent" he said covering his mouth as he yawned once more.
He nodded "If you want you can be helped by my tutors, not sure if you want it being done privately or not... and my tutors are very strict so you best learn how to keep the ice under control" he said honestly continuing to walk now seeing what seemed like a carriage shape and some horses, he knew very few used carriages because the upkeep of them was so expensive. He paused looking to her "this place is mostly plains and hills with out openings, there would be no where to hide" he said honestly continuing to head towards the shapes. "if that is a carriage then we can be escorted home by one of the guards or the owner may turn around and take us back to they city" he said rubbing his eyes. |
She wants to ask who he means by 'her' but decides it was probably wiser not to ask, since it didn't seem like something he wanted to talk about. "I honestly have to say I don't know what you mean by crimes being down, where I'm from everyone usually kept to themselves unless something important needed to be discussed." Thinking over his offer on the tutors she's not sure if it would be a good idea for her to have strict tutors, or at least not in the beginning anyways. What with how her emotions get out of control and everything. "We can talk about the tutors later. And you're partially right about that. There are times where small piles of boulders have caves hidden under them from water eating the ground under it. And I think you should approach first..." She drops back a few paces, not wanting to get in his way with talking to people.
Hearing a low growl on the side of the road, she sees some kind of giant creator heading towards Akio. "Look out!" Without thinking she creates an ice barrier with icicles forming spikes along it, the creature impaling itself on them as it lunges towards Akio. The barrier disappears and the dead creature drops to the ground not far from Akio. It's form is much like a wolf's but three times the size and what looks to be a bone deformation along its back. Tabitha falls to the ground, shaking in shock. |
Catty closes her eyes as the carriage rolled along before she feels it pulling to a stop, the driver was wanting to make sure it was safe before continuing. Even a carriage could quickly be destroyed out in No Man's Land and not many carriages were in use any more. Many had been abandoned and the rust and nature had slowly begin to retake what was their's back. Slowly, the carriage continued toward the two, the driver still being careful of not knowing what else was out there.

Akio looked to Tabitha with a look of pure bewilderment wondering which rock she had been living under not to know what crime was "Did you're village have rules or laws?" he asked hoping the answer was yes as if it didn't he wonder how on earth they would have survived so long "A crime is when you break those" he explained not able to make it any simpler, though hoped in time she would understand by seeing it first hand. He listened a little to what she had been saying but he was getting tired and just wanted to get home and bathed as he hated being covered in dirt, he could only imagine what the people who cared for him would say seeing him in his current dirty state.
As soon as he heard look out he had little time to take any action before he found himself surrounded by an ice barrier seeing a creature pouncing on it he clenched his eyes tears falling "Why did you do that?!" he almost yelled running to the animal as the shield fell "It wasn't it's fault, he was hungry" he said examining in the hopes there would be some way to help the poor thing, but he knew it was to late "This isn't a natural wolf, it's mutated I don't know if it is a natural mutation or not, and if it is not natural likely that it had it's dna spliced with another" he said standing looking at his now mud and blood covered robes "This is is getting worse as the seconds go past" he whispers to himself. Looking over his shoulder he heads towards Tabitha seeing her shaking "Tabitha..." he said helping her up and holding her in a hug in a friendly fashion "thank you for saving my life..." he said his eyes going back to the dead creature behind him "but we need to bury this poor creature, it deserves a burial and if we don't we will be inviting the wrath of the gods and bring other animals" he said honestly not sure how they would accomplish such a task given they had no tools and the size of the animal they needed to bury. |
Her eyes going wide, Tabitha is surprised by the hug Akio gives her to try and calm her down. No one had ever even tried to get near her like this before, she wasn't sure how to respond to the hug.
"I'm sorry, I heard the creature further ahead of me and knew I wouldn't make it in time to stop it, so I did the only thing I could think of. Make a barrier out of ice. I didn't mean to make the icicles, it just happens when I make one when I'm afraid. Just like the first time..." Holding herself tightly she tries to stops her shaking, knowing it won't do them any good if she can't control herself. "I...I could make some tools to dig with to bury the poor thing, only thing is it will be really cold and I'm not sure if you can handle holding a shovel made of ice...I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful...If there were more people then maybe we wouldn't have too hard of a time burying it, and if everyone were to wear gloves..." Shaking her head she backs out of Akio's hug. "Thank you Akio, and sorry for causing so much trouble. I'll do what I can to bury it by myself with a shovel made of ice." |
The carriage suddenly stopped and Catty's eyes open, a grimace twisting her features as one of the guards came to let her know what was happening.
"My lady, the driver refuses to go any farther." he says bowing, "There is no knowing what creatures are out there lurking that would see all of us as main meals. It would be better to wait and send people more accustomed to this environment out." The guard remains bowed, waiting for Catty to respond. Catty peruses her lips, thinking over what the guard has said. She really was in no mood to explain if something did happen why the carriage was wrecked and most of the men were now lining the insides of some beast cause heaven knows, good help these days was so much harder to find, help you could trust was even rarer to find. And it wasn't like there was a shortage of men either, if her fiance couldn't be found, she would be betrothed to another in a few weeks. It was how the world was these days, you neither learn from the womb to only depend on yourself or be someone's bitch and Catty was no one's bitch. Nodding and not in the mood to ruin any more good shoe leather, any good leather these days was not cheap and Catty had her pride, damn it. Standing up, the guard goes to let the driver know to turn the carriage around and head back. Catty closes her eyes, not like her fiance could find any tail out here, hell, half of the time back at her place, she rarely saw him for days on end and he was suppose to be there visiting her! On their parents orders, of course. Neither of them were crazy on being betrothed but neither of them would go against their parents. Catty noted when she returned home, to have a long, nice bath to soak in. She really needed a pampering. |
Akio looks to her blinking unsure on how to take how she was reacting to his hug, "You are not at fault here, nor was the animal." he said honestly his eyes closing "It was doing what it had to for survival... and you where doing what was needed for mine" his voice calm as he spoke on the matter. He tilted his head listening to her words shaking his head "Not at all, I will help also" he assured her knowing this was hard for her as this was an accident. He sighed his eyes closing "Oh dear, what am I going to have to say to you to make you understand you are not in anyway a burden." his voice soft as he looked over to where he seen the commotion "We need to get moving, when we get to town I will get people to come here and bury the beast." he said taking her sleeve and starting to walk towards the carriage. He needed rest and to get to Catty and the carriage in the distance was the quickest way to do everything.
