TokyoPop Returning
So after a long time of being shut down it seems Tokyopop is making a small comeback! Their website is relaunched and they are slowly getting things to put out there.
http://tokyopop.com/an-example-of-company-news-article/ Now I hope they pick up some of the manga they had dropped when they closed down. Mainly "Monochrome Factor" and I hope they get the Licenses to "Drug & Drop" which is the continuation of "Legal Drug" which Tokyopop had done. They are small but I'm sure they can get back to their former glory What manga do you hope they get a hold of? Are you happy their back? How long do you think they'll survive? DISCUSS TOKYOPOP HERE! x3 |
HOLY SHIT THAT SOUNDS AWESOME. I hope they can actually finish "Bizenghast" it's on its final volume XD
from their site, they are working on it again, it looks as tho there is a Print and e-book
http://tokyopop.com/ebooks-bizenghas...digital-again/ :3 I want them to continue Monochrome Factor sooo bad D; |
They had it out, almost a year ago and I have no clue of it DX...how did they publish it if the distribution closed?
xD no clue, i dunno how long they've been back.
looks like they're picking up Hetalia again too |
well hetalia is too popular to be left. it's like their main income
I asked their twitter if they were gonna pick up Monochrome Factor haha xD should ask about Drug & Drop
now I wonder if they are selling their mangas at book stores or are they strictly online
For now probably just online through RightStuf
but later on I mean...or is it going to be like Circuit City (went out of business but still in business online)
I don't know. I think once they get some what bigger again the ones that are Print on Demand or what ever will get shipped to stores. but since a good deal of the demand is for the e-readers it'll probably be just an internet thing now >x<
damn it XP...I have the books and the mangas I have/reading don't exist in my manga app
Are they keeping their price point at 9.99? That's what I loved most about them, thier books had a flat rate all across the board...not like Dark Horse, where shit's expensive yo
God I'm glad to hear that, I LOVED TokyoPop they were my favorite company, mainly because they gave artists and writers in America a chance to publish their works through the company |
The older mangas are $9.99 and the newer ones spiked their prices to $15.99 (which is more than dark horses). which I'm like..."yea, amazon is better"
they could not get a renewal on the license for legal drug even before they shut down so i am not holding my breath for that one but since half of all my manga is tokyopop i am glad they are trying to come back XD
the majority of my manga is tokyopop which I've had them since high school in which that was about 6 years ago
The reason their prices spiked is because of RightStuf is printing them >x< RightStuf gets expensive.
That's sad who did the printing before right stuff?
Tokyo Pop did their own printing i think.. but they printed more then the could sell.. which is why its now print on demand >x<
Once I get a e-reader thing, i'm gonna get digital mangaz ._. cheaper |
I have missed Monochrome Factor. I know they did Vampire Game too. Unfortunately I noticed one day it suddenly wasn't on the market.
Yea, I have vol 1 of Vampire Game.. and someone spilled something on it so i need to replace it and get the other vol as well ><
they had a LOT of good manga. |
I bought a LOT of Tokyopop manga because they were cheap and a LOT of them to choose from.
I miss seeing tokyo pop on the shelves at the stores.. =( the shelves seem so empty with Viz and Yen Press
Mine is full of shonen jump and yen press oTL
I just found out that Viz has a BL group now o-o
SuBLime =w= they have the BL bolded on their site. so i bolded it here haha. I hope tokyo pop can bring their Yaoi group back soon |
TokyoPop is finally back?! I can finally finish Elemental Gelade. ; w;

I was kind of sad when Tokyopop went out but I feel much better. I had an awesome collection of manga that was lost in a building fire but it might be a lot easier to replace them. Little by little, because I have about $400 worth of manga.
So far they haven't restored their US licenses to hardly any of the Japanese manga.. It is mostly American Manga with like one or two japanese ones.
Eh that's a start I suppose. I really hope they get licensed to sell japanese manga soon. That would be nice. The more variety the better.
