Background information;
"A tiny butterfly found trapped in a bottle, at the center of the forest. Who knew that it could lead to such wondrous things?"

In a nutshell, a butterfly-fairy like item that can magically turn into other things?
I was aiming for the elegant magical thing, but it didn't turn out well as I hoped it to be. I swear the idea was more clear in my head.

Also, i'm aiming for a slight shimmer and sheen to the items, especially the wings. If you look at a real butterfly's wings, the idea might be much more clearer. I wasn't aiming for the fuzzy and furry look most butterflies have though. More sleek and smooth.

I hope this fit the spell effect criteria, i'm not really sure if it's considered with a spell effect ^^;

Entry no.2 - Wistful Royalty

I'm too tired to draw it, so i'll just try and describe it to the best of my abilities D:
For this item, i'm thinking of it with light colours like a sky blue, light purple, salmon/pink or opal.

Translucent Feathers [wings]
Basically, these are quite large feathery wings that sprout from the back of our avatars. They are curved high up to the top, forming kind of like half of a wide U. They have a slight glitter to them and are translucent. They can be a light see through, white, blue or light purple colour, basically anything white.

Staff/Wand
It's a staff about as tall as our avatars. At the very top of the staff there is a small, glittering orb with two feathers surrounding the said orb.
There is a kind of holding area for the staff -located just a bit below the orb-, like this ----> <l> ..... errr the <> are the holding things and the l is the body of the staff? Basically, it's like the holding piece attached to a teacup, the slight S shape. But on either side of the staff.

Light Crown
hehe, just a small crown or tiara tilted to the side, as if it's tilted to the side. Just like the orb on the staff, it is surrounded by a feather curling inwards on each side.

Glow
Just a sparkling light glow surrounding the avatar, like the glow surrounding, errrr, magical creatures?

And ahhhh, a translucent handheld teddy bear plushie? /flails

Again, hopefully this is related to the spell effect criteria needed DX

Sorry I lack the drawing skills so my descriptions will have to do :sweat:

Spark of Life. An electrical spell effect. I'm thinking along the lines of a purple-ish white color theme, or an electric blue ( no pun intended) sparks from the avatar's hands or around the avatar frame itself, almost like an aura effect.

Shroud of Death. An necromantic spell effect. I'm thinking a shadowed fog or fade around the avatar frame or pooling around the feet with wisps. Colors could be black or shades of grey.

This is the first time I've ever entered a contest like this, so... here goes.
I have sort of a.. special-effect-ish, spell-y jacket idea that I've drawn out on the avatar bases. It would be one item, the different colors/wings/etc like different poses, so they would all come as one. I have the male and female versions of the three poses I have so far:

The wings are a part of the collar of the jacket - like a scarf - and the sleeves fade into a spell-ish type of effect. I hope these are good. ^^

I know I'm staff, but I may have to try my hand at this... I've been thinking about this kind of thing for a couple weeks now.

Any non hired artist staff can participate, Mods and coders and writers :)

If there is a avatar contest, you need to make it so you have to use at least 1 of the new items. That would make sense and will have people change outfits and not just add 1 new item.

Why would we force them to use one of the new items? When the event started, no one had any of the items, and some don't have enough time to post and get enough event currency to do that, but still may want to enter.

I think it would really limit people if we were doing that.

but it would prevent people **coughME** from grabbing an already-saved amazing avi and sticking it into the contest. it doesn't take TOO long to get 10 shards or 5 souls, and it would set a sort of theme for people to work around, which makes avis more interesting.
I would probably make a new avi just for the contest anyway though, so I guess it doesn't terribly matter.

I...I...*stares* I really hope Meizeicht places....... I want those items. xD Especially #2 and #1.

The ears and the shoulder-shawl thingy is what I'm entering.
The ears have the earrings like, in them already, and the tips are like, very very thin.
The shawl-thingy can really be any colour or mix of colours. And two poses. One with the shoulder-wing-things and one without. (BTW, it's supposed to be made of feathers but I can't draw feathers)

Notes on Lantern: 2nd pose (Moon Spirits) should have more details regarding human features such as faces leading into the lantern. Also, can be done in reverse (faces leading outward w/ crescent moon behind the "smoke")

Isn't "designing" actually "drawing" something?

I guess it depends on the admins. I've been on another site that allowed for a description. If I drew it it would look like grey blobs and purple blobs. Doesn't quite get the idea across as well as my description does.

At any rate I wanted to at least try and participate in the first event contests to the best of my ability

We are going to let descriptions. The reason being that it is not fair to those who can't draw not to get a chance to enter. THOUGH if you can find someone who can illustrate your idea well you can have others do the image for you. That makes it a bit easier on us.

I like the idea to describe the item, creating is just not my forte'.

Item 1 Icicles:
Pose 1: Your skin is half frozen with light blue colored ice, small icicles fall from your arms showing you have been half frozen.

Pose 2: Your body is trapped in a giant ice cube! SUN.. NEED.. SUN..

Item 2 Cloudy:
Pose 1: A white cloudy mist is wrapped around you hiding your.. Nudity... xD

Pose 2: GO NIMBUS! You are ontop of a yellow/golden cloud, not much to say here xD.

Item 3 Star Sprite:
Pose 1: A shining ball like (The Star Sprite) is on your chest glowing. (Multiple poses yes?)

Pose 2: You are holding the sprite in your hand and its shining a little brighter.

Pose 3: The sprite is floating besides you, little star dust is surronding you as well showing were the sprite has moved.
