Help me pick my next series to read!
Book lovers unite! I am in desperate need of a new series to read!
I'm not that up to date with good book series, so help mee! My favorites thus far: Harry Potter Hunger Games Percy Jackson Sherlock Holmes Series of Unfortunate Events (forever ago, but I liked the story) In the future I think I'd like to read: Game of Thrones Lord of the Rings Chronicles of Narnia If anyone knows of any good series similar to these help me out? And let me know what you think of the ones listed I haven't read yet. I like fantasy and magic. I don't like vampire books. Never have, probably never will. Zombies aren't my thing either. I like action and adventure with a hint of romance. Nothing TOO gushy though. Series can be oldies or new releases. I'm open to a lot and I will preview anything (cause my tablet lets me preview books before I buy. o:) if it's available, so please let me know! And GO! Suggestions thus far: Books - The Lacuna (Barbera Kingsolver), Ironside (Holly Black), War of the Flowers (Tad Williams), The Lightbringer Series, The Good Thief, The Maze Runner (suggestion from another site, lol), Mortal Instruments Series (Cassandra Claire) Authors - Mercedes Lackey, Terry Prachett, Tad Williams, Holly Black, Lynn Flewelling, |
There are a few good fantasy authors that I like, Mercedes Lackey is one you may want to try, as well as Terry Prachett. I have also gotten into Tad Williams. His writting as a good range from fantasy to science fiction though I am not sure if you are pure modern day fantasy or if it can be scifi.
I also love love love Holly Black. |
will you take offers of stories that are not ya or general audience? any book by lynn flewelling is pretty good but also the lacuna which is my current read is good (barbera kingsolver) though both are books for adults
|
Yep Ill try anything! (: just give me some titles and ill try it out! (:
|
Its too bad you don't like vampires, I think Jim Butcher does a good job with his but try... Ironside by Holly Black and War of the Flowers by Tad Willams.
|
what is the name of the one pog sent me?? that one might do
|
Well vampire stories aren't my favorite, but like I said, I'll try anything. (: I'm pretty open.
I'll check those out, Pogs! : D Keep 'em comin guys! xD |
Try some Brent Weeks books if you like dark fantasy. His first series is the Night angel Sreies, which I actually haven't finished yet but know the general summary of. The second one is probably a little less cliche: The Lightbringer series currently has two books, and I haven't finished reading the second book, so I don't know if there's a third.
I'm running to the library and grabbing that today, though. |
Ill check em out! Thanks Espy! (:
|
Oh, The Good Thief is pretty nice, too. Forgot the author.
|
I'll check if all those are on the virtual store. (:
Thanks everyone! |
judging on your books you liked you my like the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.
|
Thanks Ashypoo~ I'll check it out! :D

I do agree with your own desire to read the A Song of Ice and Fire series (the one Game of Thrones is based off of). I'm currently reading it now and it is worth it.
Oh cool, you like fantasy and magic. If you're interested in something involving a fantasy realm of sorts and it does have magic in it. My fiancé and I both like the what is currently the Abhorsen Trilogy (which is part of the Old Kingdom series) by Garth Nix (in order: Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen are the ones that we've read). He's in the works of another one that is currently I think in editing or something and will be out next year we hope. Basically it involves fantasy, some form of magic, and necromancers (who actually are good guys in this). So, I think you might like this or it'd be worth a shot. ^_^ Hope this helps. |
Sounds interesting! I'll add it to my list! c:

The Abhorsen series is damn good. I think I only got halfway into the second book, though.
