B's lip trembled and she gave a loud sniff before burying her face in her hands. She had never been fond of violence, but now it was inevitable. She dreaded the thought of losing either of them, and now that, too, was a distinct possibility.
Kurt put his arms around her, "I'm sorry you had to be involved in this....I wanted to tell you about what happened...in my own time, on my own terms, this is, this is something very difficult for me to live with," he said.
She sniffed again and leaned weakly against him. "Do you have to fight?"
He rubbed her back, "If I want my freedom, then yes, Randy will never let me go, he'll keep coming back to torment me and remind me that he has a hold on me. I cannot live this way," he said.
B heaved a shuddering sigh. She was familiar enough with Kurt and Randy VIII's personalities to know that there would be no reasoning with either of them. The best she could do was hope that Randy VIII would stay away so that nobody got hurt...
In the back of his mind Kurt damned Randy VIII again and again, even when he wasn't directly there he was leaving scars and rips all over Kurt's life....the only solution Kurt could see was a future that was blessedly absent of Randy VIII.
As though to give B a moment of peace as well as Kurt, Randy VIII did stay away for a short while. But the day eventually came when he crossed paths with them in public and couldn't resist whistling hello to them.
Kurt attempted to ignore him, holding tight to B's hand and leading her away, hell bent on getting away from Randy VIII.
Having seen very little of Kurt since B had moved in with him, Randy VIII was far from satisfied with such a response. He had not held on for this long to be ignored! What rankled him even more, though, was that B seemed to be expected to ignore him, as well. He hadn't spoken with her since the meeting in which he'd told her about his past with Kurt. The extended family had even planned a get-together, from which B had remained absent--undoubtedly out of fear that there might be conflict. He called out again, this time directly to B. "Hey, sugar, you can talk to me!"
B glanced at Kurt before giving Randy VIII a quick wave. |
Kurt bared his teeth at Randy, he did not want B anywhere near Randy, but at the same time he knew that he couldn't force B to stay away, so he hung back and waited.
Randy motioned for B to come toward him and she hesitated, so instead he crossed the sidewalk toward her and Kurt.
Kurt let out a warning growl, "Don't come any closer!"
Randy cocked his head. "Why not? I just wanted to know why B ain't show up at Auntie's party..."
B fiddled with a lock of her hair. "I just... I wasn't sure how... I-I didn't feel well," she stammered, her cheeks bright green. Even if Kurt hadn't tried to keep her from seeing Randy VIII, she was aware of how he felt about it. "Look at that, you got 'er scared to talk to me," said Randy with a frown. |
"B can talk to whomever she chooses, I will not stop her," said Kurt tightly although he unconsciously drew B closer to him and put a protective arm around her.
"You don't exactly make it easy," said Randy. He took another step closer.
"Well that's your fault for causing this whole mess, isn't it?" Kurt snarled moving so that he was in front of B.
"Sure it is... You lookin' to finish it?" asked Randy.
"If that's how you want it," Kurt tensed as he prepared to spring....
"You ain't gonna get away from me otherwise," Randy promised with a grin, inviting Kurt to action.
B gasped and ducked into the doorway of a nearby shop. A fight was coming and there was nothing she could do to stop it. |
Kurt lunged, teeth bared hands outstretched to wrap around Randy's neck.
Randy dodged and threw a punch at him, still grinning all the while.
The punch caught Kurt in the jaw and he was knocked flat, with a growl he leaped back up and kicked Randy in the stomach.
This time it was Randy who was knocked off his feet, though he wasn't at all displeased.
Kurt jumped on him and began raining blows on his face.
He blocked and returned the punches, looking for an opportunity to shove Kurt away and get back to his feet.
Kurt bit his ear and snarled, he was furious, how dare Randy come here and provoke a fight while he was out with B?! It was unacceptable.
Randy took the opportunity to bite down on Kurt's shoulder and shove him aside. Affronted though he may have been, anger had not occurred to him since the incident with Seven. For the most part, he found himself in rather a good mood.
Kurt yelped and covered as much of Randy as he could with bites.
Randy kicked him and rammed him with his shoulder, intending to knock him down and pin him.
Kurt clung tightly to him and sank his teeth into the juncture of Randy's throat and shoulder, the taste of his blood was more bitter than a humans, and the blood seemed heavier....
Randy growled and pulled him back by the hair. Such nice, soft hair. He thrust Kurt toward the ground and made a leap for him.
Kurt's teeth dragged against Randy's skin, leaving deep gouges as he was dragged back and pushed to the ground, the feel of Randy's hand in his hair causing panic to rise in his chest as it brought back familiar, painful memories.
Perched atop Kurt, Randy leaned in close to his ear. "Do I taste good?"
Kurt displayed his teeth, his mouth and jaw coated in green, the truth of the matter was that in spite of tasting strange there was a velvety richness to Randy's taste that part of him craved...rather than give an answer Kurt wriggled, trying to escape.
I could break you, thought Randy, indirectly sharing the idea with him. Instead he let go of him completely, rolling to the side so that Kurt was free.
Kurt sprang to his feet, chest heaving. Although no words had been spoken Kurt had understood the meaning "Maybe you can defeat me....but you'll never be able to keep me or posses me, you cannot ever have me!" he hissed.
"But I do," Randy insisted. "When I said you were mine, I meant it!" Though partly intended to provoke Kurt, the statement also spoke of Randy's true feelings. He would be a part of Kurt in one way or another, so long as he lived. They shared something much bigger than either of them was perhaps willing to admit, but still Randy sensed it and acknowledged it in his own way. If he had to be Kurt's enemy to the death, then that was what he would be--but he would be something, and he would never let go of him now that he'd taken hold.
Kurt spat in his face, "I am not yours...I will never belong to you and I will go to my grave before I let someone like you own me!" he snarled.
"Say what you like," said Randy, wiping his face with the back of his arm; "I'm never going away. I know your thoughts, I know what you feel, and I do have a hold on you. This ain't a fight for your survival, it's a fight for your freedom!"
"My freedom is my life, and if I must end yours to keep it then so be it!" Kurt pulled out his hawkbill and slashed at Randy VIII with it.
