James continued to smirk, "Open it." he stated.
Kale caught Blaze on her way to dinner, "You know, for someone who claims to be superwoman... you're really bad at sensing people." he said from behind her with a bit of tease in his voice. |
Yue stared at James sceptically as if she expected to find something completely unexpected in the deceptively innocent looking basket.
"... Huh?" Blaze asked, confused. She didn't seem startled by Kale's voice. |
James motioned for her to open it.
"You do yoga very well." Kale replied, stepping along beside her. |
Yue stared skeptically for another long moment before slowly and cautiously opening the basket.
"... Huh?" Blazed asked again, still completely clueless. |
It was filled with alcohol. All the different kinds that Yue especially enjoyed. James was chuckling now, "Since it's the only thing that gets you to relax. You alcoholic." he teased.
Kale sighed a little, "I don't like that you've been sneaking around me lately." he finally just outright said. |
Yue looked a little surprised. After a moment she quietly picked one out.
Blaze blinked, taking a moment for her mind to catch up with the conversation. "... You've been out searching," she replied. Maybe she was unaware of her actions. Or didn't recognize them. |
James chuckled and looked back over the lake, "Are you waiting for a call?" he asked after a moment.
Kale sighed again, "Look, you don't need to act like you're stepping on glass around me, alright?" he paused, "I've thought more about that question you asked me. And my answer is still the same. But I would like to add one more thing." he stared at Blaze, "If I had a relationship with someone who was dying, I would spend as much time as I could with them to make up for the time that would be lost by their illness. I suppose that's the only thing that would be different from a regular relationship. In some ways, I think it would even be better. You wouldn't take the other person for granted all the time." he blinked, "Ah, I'm rambling." and shook his head a little, mumbling something about lack of sleep. |
"... No," Yue replied before taking a sip.
Blaze didn't say anything for a long moment. She had the same look on her face as when her mind was still catching up. "... Huh," she finally replied, not looking like she wanted to talk about it anymore. |
"It's becoming a part of your body, you know." James sighed, "I'm scared if you dropped it, you'd die." He wasn't completely joking.
Kale nodded, "Let's get some food. I'm starving." and started off towards the dining room again. |
"... I'm already dead," Yue replied casually as she held her tablet a little closer. She wasn't completely joking.
So Blaze followed after Kale. |
James sighed as he leaned over and pressed a hand to Yue's neck, closing his eyes.
Kale once again, piled his plate high with sugary things. |
Yue tried to smack James' hand away, unamused.
Like usual, Blaze didn't comment. She still tiptoed around him, but she seemed to at least start becoming aware of what she was doing. |
James smirked, "You have a pulse." he proclaimed with a nod, "Not dead." and looked back at the lake.
Kale sighed again as he looked at Blaze while shoveling sugary cereal into his mouth. |
"Lucky me," Yue muttered before taking another sip.
"How's the search going?" Blaze asked. |
James rolled his eyes, "Let's get a few more drinks in ya." he replied, leaning back on his hands.
"Don't think it's in England." Kale replied. |
Yue paused, debating whether or not to comply. But in the end, she kept drinking.
"Well, one more place to check off," Blaze noted. |
James was content with waiting until Yue had a few more drinks in her.
Kale nodded and kept eating. |
The drinks didn't seem to be working as well today as they normally did.
Every now and then Blaze tried to bring up another simple topic of conversation. |
Suddenly James stripped off his shirt and leaned back, using it as a pillow. The scar was still visible on his arm, he had refused to let them remove it. Much to the disappointment of his stylists.
Kale easily discussed whatever Blaze brought up, letting her lead the conversation. |
Yue didn't look at him, still looking out at the scenery.
Kale could tell Blaze was getting tired of leading the conversation, but she kept trying. |
It looked like James was going to take a nap.
Kale finally took over, asking Blaze different, light hearted questions between sugary bites of food. |
Yue let James snooze.
Blaze replied easily to his questions, seeming a little relieved when he took over. |
James took a long nap, he seemed rather tired out.
"When did you first meet Sheng?" Kale asked after the discussion about favorite foods ended. |
So Yue quietly snuck away after he was asleep.
"Uh..." Blaze muttered as she thought about it. "Just over a year ago I guess," she decided. |
Kale nodded, "How old are you anyway, like mid 20s?"
|
"23," Blaze replied.
|
Kale nodded again, "You had an interesting 22 years before meeting him, I presume." and he took another bite of sugar.
|
"... I wouldn't call it interesting," Blaze replied, not really looking like she wanted to talk about it.
|
Kale watched her for a moment before shrugging and moving on to a lighter topic. Eventually Kale said his goodbye, wanting to catch a catnap before he had to go scout. "I'll see you tomorrow. Maybe you'll stop tiptoeing by then." he mused with a smile before heading out.
After a few hours, James woke and slowly sat up, looking around. |
Blaze didn't say anything like usual as she went on her way.
Yue was down at the shore. It looked like she was skipping rocks, and she wasn't half bad at it. |
James watched her for awhile before walking down to her, "Not bad, considering you're drunk." he mused with a smirk.
|
Yue didn't say anything as she tossed another rock that skipped four times. Her tablet was sitting on a rock far enough away from the shore so it wouldn't get wet.
|
James noticed the tablet but said nothing about it, "Where'd you learn?" he asked as he picked up a rock of his own.
|
Yue was silent for a long moment as she prepared another rock. "... My brother taught me," she replied quietly before tossing it. Two skips.
|
James threw one and it landed with a loud splat. No skips. He sighed, "Hey... what's your secret?" he complained.
|
"... I'm the daughter of a very influential member of the Yin Long," Yue muttered. Yep, she was pretty drunk. But she still managed to get three skips on her next toss.
|
"And the Yin Long are very good at skipping rocks?" James replied.
|
"Some of them," Yue replied as she tried to find more rocks.
|
Suddenly James seemed to understand what was going on and he grinned before coughing and hiding his amusement. "What do you like the best, Yue... besides skipping rocks?" he asked as he threw another rock with a ker-splat.
|
"I don't like anything," Yue spat back.
