Yup. Gaia went there and did that -- $1000 for a halo. They sold the other MCs as well - but for less money.

No not listening. *laa laa laa laa*

Its a very money now, consequences later, move. They have no idea what they are doing. Rereleasing old items is only going to further break an already broken market.

What really ruined the gaia economy is all the constant gold generators they have in the cash shop. They give out millions of gold and have top prizes of a billion. X.X

Cora 03-10-2014 12:29 PM

Yes, that as well. Gaia never made smart moves. They poured gold into the economy without any viable way to draw the gold back out. You need things to sink gold back into. The commons are simply too far and few between to be a viable gold sink. They have never, and I mean NEVER, listened to reason on this. People wanted more gold so they gave them more gold without considering the consequences. Then there is the daily chance thing which gives you a lot of items you really don't need/ want after a while but they aren't worth anything so you can't hoard them off elsewhere.

I won't even get started on the fact that they don't care what the bulk of the userbase wants they only care what they can sell....take for instance those soulbound items. I was in a thread where people where calmly(I mean it, it was a discussion not an arguement) discussing the downfalls with that, and one of the developers came in and said, and I quote "We don't really care what you want it isn't going to change so just get over it."

Bad Economy, staff that doesn't care, coupled with the fact that there isn't nearly enough of the staff to keep up with the large userbase. in the end....I'm not surprised people have no love for gaia anymore.

EDIT: This turned into a rant, I apologize.

Angel Spirit Girl 03-10-2014 02:19 PM

No need to apologize. Gaia started spitting out gold generators in order to make cash - which is the new CEO's plan. It got the userbase so annoyed at them that they stopped having ask the admin or any other communication with users. Bad business plan is bad. Pity.

I feel bad for Lanzer. As much as Lanzer and I never saw eye to eye, gaia was his baby. I don't think even he thought it would end up like this.

Angel Spirit Girl 03-10-2014 03:31 PM

Yup. He started gaia in someone's house and had no idea that it might last. Now the site seems to have sold out.

I miss how it was back in the day - when you have to dial up the internet uphill both ways.

Cora 03-11-2014 06:42 AM

I do in fact miss the really early days of Gaia. It was so....simple back then.

Fauxreal 03-12-2014 01:08 AM

I know. *sheds a tear* Those were the days.

Cora 03-12-2014 06:01 AM

It really really was. Where you a member back in like....2003?
