"Oh?" Luck curled his lips upward as he got up from the bed. "Who ever said it was an act?"
He sat at his desk and rolled a basket ball up into his hand. "You are what you act," he said cynically. |
"I wouldn't be here right now if you weren't secretly a good guy..." He pointed out, knowing it was true. He frowned slightly as Luck got up. If one were to pay attention, Rune would seem almost disappointed.
|
"A good guy and a tough guy aren't opposites," said Luck, shrugging.
Noting Rune's trailing sentence, Luck furrowed his brow. Rune did that a lot. Trail his sentences. And that usually happened when- when what? It was a similar feeling each time. He stood up and walked over to Rune. "What's so great about a good guy anyway?" |
Ruen sat up, shrugging a bit. He wasn't really sure. Did it realy matter?
|
Luck shrugged his shoulders in return. He didn't have an answer himself in any case. He reached over for his alarm clock.
"I'm setting this to five," he said, spinning the alarm dial. He set the clock back down by the bedside. |
Rune groaned. "Why so early?" He asked, looking at Luck incredulously.
|
Luck picked up the alarm and played with the alarm dial around 5 AM. "Alright, six."
He didn't want the possibility of his parents waking up at six, so he'd set the alarm one hour earlier than usual. Though he supposed that it wouldn't really make a difference, since they usually woke up at seven anyway. |
Rune nodded. That was still such an ungodly hour... But at least not so bad. Glancing at the alarm, he looked up at Luck. "Guess we should probably get some sleep soon then..."
|
"Yeah." Luck frowned, then opened a drawer. He took out a set and tossed them at Rune, "Change into those."
He pointed to a door by the bed, "That's the bathroom." |
Rune flushed slightly. "Thanks..." he crawled off of the bed and went into the bathroom, quickly changing into the pajama pants Luck had lent him.
|
Luck pulled out another set of pajamas for himself as he watched Rune enter the bathroom.
He wrinkled the cotton material in his hands. Having no younger sibling, no one had ever worn his clothes before. |
Rune took a few extra minutes in the washroom, combing his hair out with his fingers after letting it loose. After using the washroom and washing his hands, he reentered the bedroom, rollinghis jeans up and shoving them into his backpack.
|
Luck slid his eyes over to Rune as the boy entered the room. Seeing Rune in his over-sized pajamas, he couldn't help but smirk. "That's cute," he said, before standing up to go over to the bathroom himself.
"Makes me want to keep you here." |
Rune flushed and looked away. He honestly wouldn't mind staying,,, He knew that was impossible, though. "In your dreams." He replied, climbing back onto the bed, pulling the blankets partway back after putting his computer away.
|
Hanging by the door of the bathroom, Luck grinned at Rune's remark.
When Rune had settled into his bed, Luck rested his weight onto the footboards of the bed. "Sweet dreams." He picked himself up, "Dream of me." In the bathroom, Luck threw off his clothing and stepped into the shower. He wondered briefly if he should have given Rune a toothbrush before the water washed his thoughts away. |
Rune flushed more, smiling slightly when Luck shut the door. He laid down, wiggling in under the blankets, getting comfortable. He sighed softly, the smile still on his face, as he began to relax, listening to the water running in the other room.
|
The bathroom was filled with steam by the time Luck stepped out of the shower. Groggy from the heat, he brushed his teeth before drying himself and pulling on his pajamas.
Luck turned off the bathroom light before opening the door. He took a moment to adjust his eyes to the darkness. Then laid himself on the wooden floor. Stared up at the ceiling waiting for sleep. |
Rune knocked a pillow off the bed, making it seem like he'd done it in his sleep, though he was still awake. He wasn't used to going to bed that early. He laid awake, listening to the soft sounds of the house- muffled voices from a room down the hall, ever so faint. The ticking of a clock in the hall. Static-sounding noises from downstairs- likely from a tv or radio. The sound of Luck's breathing.
|
Luck caught the pillow as it landed on him. He sat up and looked over to the bed, where Rune was apparently sleeping. He laid down again with the pillow, muttering a soft "thanks" that he felt Rune wouldn't hear.
Staring up at the ceiling, he heard a quiet inhale, a quiet exhale, and he fell asleep. |
Rune heard the muttered thanks, and smiled softly, slowly drifting into sleep himself... Only to wake a few hours later from a nightmare. He was shaking, tears streaming down his face as he sat up, curling in on himself.
|
He heard the sound of sheets and muffled gulping to the left of him. And suddenly, he was in his bed again--awake.
Luck blinked his sleepiness away, the sobbing sound still in his ears. Rune's voice. He sat up to see that Rune was no longer sleeping, and in fact the source of sound. Luck stood up. Leaned towards the bed. "H-hey, what's wrong?" |
Rune jolted when he heard Luck's voice. He shook his head, wiping at his tears, embarrassed. "I-its nothing... Just a bad dream..."he said, trying to force himself into a calm state. "I-I'm sorry if I woke you..."
|
Luck sat on the bed. He turned his face towards Rune, pulling his legs up in a knot. "It's alright," he said, brushing off the apology, "You want to talk about it?"
|
Rune shrugged slightly, still trembling slightly, though no longer crying- barely. "It was about my father..." He said softly, not really wanting to think about it, let alone talk about it... He would, though, if Luck pressed him about it.0
|
((Short posts because I have nothing ^^;;))
Luck leaned closer to Rune. "Your father?" He repeated. He knitted his brows. Muttered quiet under his breath, "That bastard again," before returning his attention to the boy. "What happened?" He asked. |
Rune whined softly, shaking his head... Though he did tell Luck. Everything came spilling out-
. After all, it all showed up in his dreams. "It... It started with my mum's death, his decent into alcoholism, then memories of the beatings, the first time he raped me..." A sob escaped, and he shook his head again, unable to continue as he wrapped his arms tighter around himself, tears slipping down his cheeks. |
Seeing Rune crying again, Luck froze for a second. What did people do when they wanted to comfort someone?
He wrapped his arms around Rune, pulling the other towards himself. |
Rune tensed when he first felt Luck's arms around him, before practically melting into his embrace when he realized Luck wasn't going to hurt him. He curled up to the blonde, hiding his face against his chest as he continued to cry, the tears slowly coming to an end as he calmed.
|
Luck released Rune when he felt the sobs still.
He stood up and lighted pushed Rune towards the bed. "Sweet dreams now, alright?" He gave an awkward smile as he pulled the blankets up to cover Rune. |
Rune gave a little whine when Luck pulled away and pushed him back onto the bed. He reached out, catching the other teen's hand as he pulled the blankets up, stopping him from going away. "S-stay with me... Please?" He asked softly, looking up into Luck's eyes, his own wide with loneliness and fear and... Something else that Rune couldn't, wouldn't, put a name to quite yet.
|
Luck's eyes widened as he felt Rune's warm hand upon his. He stopped in his tracks and turned to look into Rune's eyes. There was a momentary pause, before he acquiesced. "Alright."
He belt down towards Rune and swept away a strand of hair before dropping himself onto the bed. "Go to sleep." He murmured. |
Rune smiled a little, and curled up to Luck, keeping the blonde close for comfort. He managed to fall back asleep quickly, and stayed asleep the rest of the night.
|
Luck woke up a few minutes before the alarm clock rang. As he removed himself from the bed, he gave Rune the kind of soft, detached smile that only a person who was not alert in the morning would give.
Luck looked over to the analog. The hour hand was pointing after five. The minute hand pointed a little after thirty. That gave him more than enough time to get ready. He pulled the blankets back over Rune and entered to bathroom with clothes for school. He brushed his teeth and changed into a red hoodie and jeans, wondering if Rune was the kind of person who needed to change their clothes every day or not. Having accomplished this, he peeped his head out into the corridor that connected to his room, making sure that no one was awake. |
Rune stayed asleep for a while longer. It was only when the warmth of Luck's body faded that he woke, rubbing his eyes. Sitting up, he looked around in confusion before remembering he'd spent the night at Luck's. A blush crept up his cheeks as he smiled at the memory. He looked up as Luck came out of the bathroom. "Thanks for letting me sleep here..." He said softly, looking up at the blonde almost shyly.
|
"Any time."
One hand trailed up to the back of his head as he looked to the side, "I wasn't going to let you sleep in the park after all." |
Rune flushed a little, getting up and grabbing his bag on the way to the washroom, giving luck a quick hug before darting into the other room and locking the door behind him. He changed into the clothes he'd shoved into his backpack the day before- black skinny jeans and a fitted dark blue and silver t-shirt, forgoing underwear to avoid any bunching under his jeans. He brushed his hair out quickly, tying it back, before inspecting himself for any visible marks, using a bit of concealer to hide a faint bruise and a couple little scars.
|
Luck stiffened for a second in surprise when Rune hugged him. It wasn't every day that someone hugged a school bully. He watched Rune enter the bathroom with a dumb smile on his face.
Luck picked up his school bag from beside his desk and sat on the chair to wait for Rune. They probably had cereal if Rune felt like having breakfast, he thought. |
Rune took a few moments longer than necessary in the washroom, calming himself so he didn't make a fool of himself in front of Luck, or anyone else.
When he finally felt ready, he unlocked the washroom door, his clothes bundled up and shoved inside his school bag, the pants Luck had lent him folded and left on top of the hamper. |
Luck glanced up, surprised at Rune's change of clothes. He had prepared to stay out of his home, it appeared. He didn't remark on it though, what good would it do?
"There's cereal in the kitchen if you want." He said instead, "We can have breakfast before heading out, since it's good for you and all." |
Rune smiled a little. "Sure..." It had been a while since he'd had a good meal. Too often the only one he got was lunch, and that usually was whatever they had available at the convenience store on his way to school... If he had money.
