A small smirk almost began to appear on Nic's face. But before she could tell for sure, he leaned in and gave her a quick kiss first. "... Sure," he replied.
Laurel needed no further invitation as she kissed him softly and started to lean in.
-- Meanwhile Frei had taken a call during the movie and had seemed a bit upset as she settled back on Raven's lap. She stared at the screen but didn't seem to be watching it anymore. |
Nic didn't let Laurel get too close. They both had work to do.
-- "... You want to do something else?" Raven asked after awhile. |
Laurel pulled away after a bit, smirking at him, "Much better." she informed him before patting his cheek and getting up to make his coffee.
-- "Don't hate Wolfe." she suddenly spit out. |
Raven was silent for a moment. "... Why would I do that?" he asked.
Frei was silent for a long time. Then she whispered quietly, "They stole a child."
Raven didn't say anything for a very long time. He was silent through the rest of the movie, not really watching it either.
"... they wanted the Okorie to back down." Frei explained when the movie ended.
Raven still didn't say anything, watching the credits for a few minutes before slowly getting up.
Frei pushed him back down, moving in his lap to pin him to the seat. "I know that you don't like violence. I know that... this world is new for you." she said quietly, "But you have to listen to me."
Raven waved his hand a little and tried to get up again. It didn't look like he was ready to hear it.
Frei gripped his collar, stare piecing into his eyes.
Raven refused to look at her, still trying to get up.
Frei wouldn't let him, he'd have to shove her off. Her stare remained piercing, "Don't judge him." she barely whispered, "He has to keep us all alive."
After awhile, Raven gave up trying to get up. But it still didn't look like he was listening.
Frei stared at him for a moment before leaning over and suddenly biting his ear, rather hard.
Raven cussed, now trying to push her off.
Frei locked her arms around his neck in an iron grip but she did let go of his ear.
Raven kept thrashing around, trying to get Frei off as he cussed some more.
Frei was suddenly knocked off. She tumbled backwards, hitting her head pretty hard against the coffee table in front of them and collapsed into a small ball on the ground.
Raven cussed some more. He stuck around just long enough to make sure Frei was alright. Then he headed for the door.
Frei was unconscious, breathing but only barely. There was a good size lump swelling up on the back of her head; she was definitely very fragile.
As Raven left, he gave someone a brief call to take care of her. Then he disappeared.
Laurel returned fairly quickly, a steaming cup of coffee in her hands. It had that same heart design that Nic had failed to notice before.
Nic was in the shower. Apparently he hadn't thought Laurel would come back so quickly.
Surprisingly, Laurel seemed to have a dirty thought for a moment. Then she looked shocked at herself and set the coffee down on Nic's desk before shaking her head as if to clear her mind. She then pulled out the next shirt that needed mending and started on it.
A few minutes later he got out. He almost walked out in his boxers like before, but smelled the coffee and realized Laurel was there. "... Could you grab a shirt and some pants?" he asked awkwardly through the door.
Laurel got up to get them but stopped, "Hmm..." she mused loudly for a moment, "No, I don't think I will." she stated pleasantly in a teasing voice.
There was a long pause. "... Please?" Nic tried.
"What'll you give me if I do?" Laurel continued to tease, she sounded close to the door now.
"... I don't know..." Nic replied, not sure how Laurel was expecting this to turn out.
Laurel paused for a moment, "I'll bring you clothes if you agree to have dinner with me tonight." she decided.
"... I thought you wanted a date tonight," Nic replied.
"You said you didn't have time." Laurel retorted, a little confused.
"... You said you wanted a date," Nic replied, also confused.
"Well... yes, I want a date." Laurel said quietly, "But I understand if you're busy." she added though the tinge of disappointment was pretty clear to Nic.
"I said, whatever you want, just ask," Nic told her.
Laurel blinked though he couldn't see. "... Right." she replied quietly before going over to pick out some clothing for him. When she came back she opened the door slightly and handed over some pants and a shirt without looking, "Hey Nic," she asked as she held his clothes out, "If I wanted you to kill someone for me, would you do it?"
Nic took the clothes and closed the door slowly, not replying.
Laurel nodded to herself before going back and sitting on the couch.
