Shrugging, she brushed a stray hair off her chest.
"I don't know. How long have you lived here? Where did you live before you lived here? Have you ever been married?" |
I've lived here for some time now, several years. Before I was here I lived in different places around the world, around europe, brazil, the united states, and... I was almost married once.. it didn't go so well, it ended in tragedy, not on our ends though.."
|
Twitching an ear, she listened quietly.
"I'm sorry to hear. I'm assuming this was... -years- ago? You don't seem too upset, so I'm guessing the time frame is rather large. If I start getting too personal, just say so. I'm used to all kinds of questions." |
Smiles. "It's fine, I don't mind answering. I like answering questions, and yes, it was about... two hundred years ago when it happened. So it basically is history now."
|
Harrumphing, she couldn't help but shake her head a bit.
"Basically history nothing. That -is- history. I wouldn't be surprised to find you in one of the kids' textbooks." |
Grins. "Now that would amuse me. I would get a copy of that book. My father was a very successful merchant back then, I traveled with him at times. I am originally from sweden and brazil, I've lived in both places. I've had thousands of samples of blood from victims all over the world, too. Hunting and feeding through the ages. Living is quite different when you have to do it from the shadows, I guess that's why I do the opposite now.. to make up for the past. Eternity may seem like a good idea, until you realize you may have to spend it alone. Not that I had the choice." he smiles faintly.
|
She wasn't sure how to react to his comments. She wanted to hug him, but at the same time, she didn't want him to think she pitied him.
"I'm sorry. Truth be told, I've never really thought about it..." |
Smiles. "I apologize. Never thought about it? Well you know....." he grins.
|
Smiling back, she continued to walk with him down the street.
"So, you said it wasn't your choice... What happened? If you don't mind me asking, that is." |
Smiles. "I don't mind. My soon to be wife and I planned a wedding, and some time before that my long time friend, Vasco had been turned. So he came to me excited and wanted to turn me as well, so we could both continue being life long friends. Well.. I refused because I was about to set out on my life with Claire, why would I jeopardize that life for that, you know? Turns out he did not like my answer so... he took matters into his own hands, he ended up murdering Claire, to get rid of my ties to a normal life, I still refused so he attacked and turned me anyway..."
|
Raising both eyebrows, she was truly surprised.
"Wow. I'm sorry to hear. It seems like things worked out alright, though. I mean, you seem to be doing quite well for yourself. And you even have a new love." |
Smiles, nodding. "Yes, I've taken full advantage of my new condition. Yes I do. Everything does work out eventually.."
|
"Eventually, yes."
Looking about, she noticed they were coming up onto the park. "Seems I've been seeing a lot of this park lately." |
Yeah? It's a good place to be.
|
Nodding, she smiled again.
"It is. It's lovely at night." |
I agree. I love coming to this park, I always lurk around here.
|
"I was actually here a few nights ago with another vampire. He was quite the gentleman, actually. Does that run in vampires?"
Releasing his hand, she spun around in the grass on her tip-toes. |
Smiles. "Depends, really. Alot of them that are like that come from an older age where it was expected, and where it was common courtesy to be a gentleman. That is definately one thing this age could use, sadly it is a long forgotten custom. No one has any respect anymore."
|
Sighing, she nodded.
"This is so true. You see so much in my line of work. So many things that have put a bad taste in my mouth. And yet, here I am. I keep coming back again and again." Leaning against a tree, she watched him quietly after she finished speaking. |
Nods. "Yeah, you do, don't you? Let's head back to one of my places, what do you think?"
|
Nodding, she pushed off from the tree and came back to take his arm again.
"Lead on." |
Smiles. "Ready?" he grins.
|
Smiling, she nodded.
"Yup, ready." |
He wraps his arm around her waist, securing her against him as he gears up as if ready to jump, he focused his will, taking off into the night air suddenly. Flying into the sky with her.
|
Squealing as they took off, she grabbed him tightly, burying her face against his chest.
|
Smiles, taking her through the air swiftly, heading outside of the city. "I have you, I won't let you fall."
|
Peeking up at his face, she continued to hold on.
"I'm not so afraid of you dropping me as I am not touching the ground." Chancing a look around, she was amazed by the view. |
Smiles. "This is honestly the best way to get around.." he continues flying through the sky, breaking through the clouds, ending up above them, so they could see for miles, and get a clear view of the moonlight sky as he heads towards their destination.
|
Squealing again as they go higher, she clung to him, wrapping herself around him. She was pressed as close as she could get.
"I always knew they were lying about Superman!" |
Laughs, as he descends, flying lower and lower, to land softly in the front yard of one of his mansions, quite far from the city.
|
Curling her toes into the grass as they landed, she let out her breath, more than happy to be back on the ground.
"Next time, we take the train." |
Grins. "All right, fair enough. I did that for a couple of reasons, to show you and to see if you scared easily, which I'm glad you did not. I promise I will make it up to you though."
He moved to hook her arm, and started walking towards the front door, which was being opened by one of his butlers, the security lights coming to life. |
Looking around, her breath caught in her throat. The grounds were beautiful, even in the dark. She could see gardens off to the left and what appeared to be a very large garage off to the right. She could smell water somewhere near, so she assumed there was a sizable pool, pond, or small lake behind the house as well. She was picking up the scent of some kind of animal, as well, but she couldn't place it. It was something she'd never smelled before.
"It's absolutely beautiful. And the house is gigantic!" |
Grins, watching her as she takes in -everything-. "Thank you, this one is my favorite. Just wait till we get inside. There are small, cozy areas inside as well." he contiued with her, heading through the door, being greeted warmly by the butler/caretaker, also being offered any service, such as a meal or drinks.
|
Allowing her eyes to rove as they walked in, she couldn't help but smile.
"So many pretty things." She looked at the many pieces of art hanging on the wall. She could tell, just by looking at them, that they were authentic-original. She was also very impressed by the statuary and arrangements of exotic flowers randomly placed about the entry way and hall. |
Continues smiling at her as she appraises his house and possessions. "You like? It took me many years to collect these pieces of art alone. You should see my separate warehouse, it has lots of pretty, shiny things as well. I guess that is one thing to do to pass the time, to help keep one's sanity."
|
Nodding, she suppressed the urge to want to touch things, knowing how much of a no-no touching expensive art and antiques was.
"This is true. And you've had plenty of time to have to pass, it seems." Smiling at the butler as he appraised her, she stuck her hip out a little to give him a better view of her legs. Her gesture wasn't one of teasing, or taunting, but one of practice and habit. |
Smiles. "You can touch a little bit, I see the strong urge to do so in you." he continued walking her around, taking her in a tour around his mansion before they would think about finding a place to settle down in.
|
Following him about, she randomly trailed her fingers along things from time to time, taking in the beauty through out his home. By the time they settled down in the small study near the doors to the back yard, her feet were more than ready for a rest. Flopping gracefully down into an overstuffed wing-back chair, she curled her fingertips into the plush fabric, wriggling down into it and purring softly.
"I need a couple of these for myself... Too bad I don't have an actual place of permanent residence to keep them in." |
Smiles, just happy watching her as he took a seat himself. "No permanent residence? I could offer you one, if nothing else so you have a place to call home. I was thinking about offering you something else as well, but that can wait till we get to know eachother better." he fully intended on more visits in the future with her already.
