So...coda is a leaf? O.o
Naw, man, I ain't no leaf node. I've got root!
@.o
For a second, you sounded like |
coda is a leaf, do not let the leaf fool you
I should be able to finish up the final touches and all that other junk soon.
Sorry it's taking so long x'D |
You're not any slower than the rest of the forums. :P
Haha, true that. I'm trying to be a lot more active nowadays, but sometimes I log in to see that I'm the only person online. ;o;
Being the only one online? That's me 80% of the time I log in. xD
I remember the days when there were 30+ people online daily.. Aah.. Those were the days.... |

Not everybody likes to post but they still like a way to earn common currency. |
The flip side to that is if there are games to play constantly (rather than time-limited like the crane game) and the forums are as slow as they are, the games will actually slow them down more. People will spend more time playing games than posting.

Yeah, I used to post here a TON **points to post count**, but, most of the people I used to talk to the most have left for various reasons, I had a lot of life things come up and became less active, and now it's like a whole different site sometimes.
Well, the first game I want to get up will be on the same time limit as the crane game. The second one will be more of a time sink if you let it, but I'm hoping it'll be a conversation piece.

And GaiaOnline, lol, well, that's nothing but a troll-site anymore. I occasionally jump on it just to see what new stuff they have because they seem to have new things everyday just about but they've become money-hungry anymore. Quote:

I gotta say, I'm pretty stoked for more time-consuming games. I think those will really help with getting more activity on the site. The more people online at once and doing something is activity, and will encourage new users to stay and at least post in the welcome wagon if they see more than just themselves online when they log in for the first time.
I just really need to stop talking to my friends on here via Skype instead of on Trisphee. Or in Lucid's case on League.
Lol it depends if they are active on Trisphee or not. Whenever I'm on I try to engage in a few different threads when people are online.
This is sort of off-the-cuff and I haven't even done any feasibility research on it, but would on-site chat rooms be something you folks would be interested in?
In my opinion as a user: that might be something worth looking into, Coda. It could certainly encourage a bit more connectivity (and activity) between users because it would be more in real time.
Two questions
Do we still get AU? And where would it be? Cause a sideline chat bar I would like but if you can't surf Trisphee and chat in the same page it may be annoying. |
Quote:
I'd be up for it. Edit Up for the chatroom. *cough* Not destroying it. That sounded bad, lol |
Aurum... PROBABLY not, but maybe something fractional? As for where it'd be on the page... I really don't know. Maybe something like Google Hangouts or Facebook Chat where it pops up in a window in the corner of the screen and you can collapse it.
So yet again no AU for posting on the site. Then no I don't want it. Going to post going to get aurum for it, because otherwise it is just a pointless time sink that won't be used except by certain people who don't care about AU.
Chatting and posting are really rather different things. Chatting isn't going to maintain a long-term history. It doesn't build up content for reading. It's designed around short-form messages, possibly many in a row, possibly when there's no one there to read them. It won't even be useful during slow hours.
Think of it more as real-time visitor messages rather than an alternative to forum posts. I know you use visitor messages, and I've never seen you worried about aurum there. If the chat DOES give aurum payouts (I said I was considering it!), it'll have to be rate-limited, otherwise it's likely to end up with someone saying "lol" "lol" "lol" "lol" in the middle of the night to rack up the money. |
Chat room would be an awesome idea!
Maybe have a little thumbs up next to each message that's sent, so when people react to it the sender gets a very small amount of aurum each time. This is somewhat similar to a different avatar site, but they don't have it in a chat room form. If the chat could maybe be put on a clean slate every 12 hours then this would be a great way to pass the time and maybe even meet new people. I'm all for a chat room as long as we can customize our fonts/colors. Maybe have the font color choices be Trisphee's current color palette. |
Or they can get X amount of AU upon entering the chatroom but to save them just re-entering, slap a time-limit on it?
Not sure, figured I'd throw out ideas. I'd be up for a chatroom regardless. |
That is also a great idea... but it wouldn't exactly encourage anyone to actually say hello in the chat haha. They'd just pop in and out for their aurum reward.
True.. Wonder if a X amount of sentences of X amount of required words is possible. If the sentences doesn't equal to X amount of words, the sentence does not give AU and sentences cannot be combined.
But this would also mean that Trisphee would need a staff member in there at all times to make sure that users do not just post jibber jabber, chain letters, copy/paste, etc. |
Actually, the math isn't too hard to have aurum grants have diminishing returns over an X-minute period that resets after that period is over. It would more or less work like forum posts, if I did it.
I was thinking about this all night and how exciting a chat room would be. It would definitely be a great step for Trisphee's growth.

Well, I hope a chatroom gets put in regardless of how it'll be set up. Be kinda nifty. I'd try to join in it now and then. |
I actually miss the old school Yahoo chat. So many trolls back then, but it was a cool place to hang with the voicing capabilities. I remember sharing music with people, and broadcasting my webcam. Bunch of pervs mostly, considering I was 13 at the time, but it was still fun nonetheless.
I actually miss Hotmail Chatrooms. I had my own world created and had a lot of RPers. I miss those days but it helped me get into roleplaying.
On that note, profile messages don't give aurum either, but many of us still use them for non-private one-on-one conversations. I've probably had more profile messages than actual forum posts in the last few months. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing.
I think a chat room would be really great. I've noticed for a long time that people tend to meet friends on Trisphee, post on here for a little while, and then move to Skype and slowly become less and less active until they leave entirely. It's been happening for YEARS with all too many people that I loved chatting with here. I know we can't kill Skype's appeal entirely, but anything we can do to minimize peoples' desires to chat on Skype can only help the site. |
I'm going to start with just one big site-wide chat. If that takes off well, I'll consider adding user-to-user and group chats.
Doesn't that risk everyone moving to the chat and not actually posting on the forums?
I think the idea is to lure people to the site. I'm sure even posting in the chatrooms, people would surf the site itself and post to those who cannot use the chatroom.
I think it will be a great way to pass the time. Some people just don't like posting in forums very much, but they still like conversation. Since the only ways to earn aurum, aside from occasional events, are posting and the crane game, those people don't have many other options to become active, actually meet people, or stick around. A chat room is a quick, simple, and effective way for online users to engage themselves in conversation here on Trisphee.
Besides, it's better than people quitting in favor of Skype!
I completely agree, Lucid. It would be nice to be able to casually chat with other users without always having to log into Skype. *nods*
