LOL!

hmmm.... i ought to ask. Lawtan, Espy, another long-time Tris member - where in the forum would i search for a NaNo hang-out?

Witchchylde 10-30-2014 02:14 PM

I have had a couple of weird dreams this past week that are sticking with me -- maybe my subconscious is trying to get me inspired to try NaNoWriMo for once?

trystan830 10-30-2014 02:17 PM

@Yeladim - i found one! it's over here: Creative Corner > Writers' Diary > NaNoWriMo anyone?

@Witchchylde - it's how my NaNos came about in 2011, 2012, and 2013. i had a dream that could be a "NaNo dream" over the summer sometime, and i wrote down a little paragraph about it, but decided to go with something else, which is based on a line i wrote in my 2013 NaNo.

i say go for it! =) i'm trystan on nanowrimo.org.

Yeladim 10-30-2014 04:15 PM

So I'm not going to NaNo again this year. I just don't have the time and I'd be luck to write 10k words. No chance at 50k.

trystan830 10-30-2014 04:22 PM

i have this year's set up as five little somewhat related stories - 10k for each one. let's see how well i do. =)

It'd be in the Writer's forum. I see you've already found it, though that thread's two years old. You can start a new thread if you want.

trystan830 10-30-2014 05:00 PM

found it, poked the sleeping thread, and maybe it'll stir things up?

Coda 10-30-2014 07:10 PM

I haven't done NaNo since 2003 ^^() I succeeded in 2002, failed in '03, and haven't tried since.

trystan830 10-30-2014 10:23 PM

i've only done it since 2011. finished and won in 11, 12, and 13.

I only did it one year, back in college, although I did hit my count then.

I love to write... I just haven't had the time in a long time.
And now I'm back in school again, so there goes that theory! :p-cry:

One of these years... I really want to finish my book(s) - I have lots of beginnings but no endings.

Have you ever read a book by Italo Calvino called If On A Winters Night A Traveler ...? It's the story of this guy who starts reading a book and finished the first chapter. Then goes out somewhere, doesn't have his book, so picks up a book to read while he's waiting and reads ... the first chapter.

Through the book he reads either 9 or 11 first chapters, and all of them except for one, I thought would make great books. I love Calvino's work and this is my second favorite book by him next to Cosmicomics.

I haven't tried Nanowrimo since 2008 I think. This year I know for sure I won't be writing. I can barely bring myself to talk to people most of the time. Although I could get a lot written with my dreams. What was the dream Witch?

trystan830 10-31-2014 07:34 PM

my nano's from 2011, 12, 13 were all started with a scene i dreamed.

i know a lot of HPLovecraft's stories were based on things he'd dreamed. that guy's head was probably one scary place!

That's really cool! I had never even considered anything like that.

Mostly I just write poetry right now, although someday I'll get back to the novels. In case you're interested, I keep all my writings here for the time being.
