"Get out of the jacuzzi, and I'll tell you," Missy replied.
Laurel gave it her best effort to stand but fell back over, face first once more.
Missy cussed before calling a few guys over to help her out.
Once Laurel was hauled out she turned and nearly fell right back in but was grabbed by one of the guys. Laurel promptly turned around and kissed him. The guy didn't seem to mind much.
Missy sighed, waiting for her to finish.
One guy finally pulled the other guy off of her, muttering something about a crazy boyfriend.
Laurel made a bit of a face as she turned back to Missy, she seemed at least a little disgusted. |
Missy didn't really care. She glanced around for Raven and eventually got him to take Laurel off her hands. Raven sighed, wondering how to take care of both Laurel and Frei.
Frei looked at Laurel for a little bit, "Why did you drink so much?" she inquired.
Laurel made a face, "He... doesn't like..." she leaned to the side and Frei pushed her back upright and waited for her to finish. Only Laurel didn't as she looked around with a smile on her face. |
"... Doesn't like what?" Raven asked.
Laurel shook her head like a bee had gone past her ear. After a long moment she muttered, "Drugs." Frei blinked before looking up at Raven.
"Uh..." Raven muttered, not getting it. Laurel had a habit, but she had no need to take anything here... right? "... Maybe it's time for bed," he suggested.
Frei looked up at Raven, "I'll take her." she told him, grabbing Laurel's arm and leading her off.
"... Are you sure you can handle it?" Raven asked a little skeptically.
Frei didn't even give that question the dignity of a reaction. A little bit later, Nic's door opened and Frei led a giggling, overly happy Laurel inside. "Raven needs a break." she said a bit coldly.
The door was open, but Nic happened to be in the shower.
When Nic came out of the shower, a slightly ruffled Frei was seated on his couch and eyeing him coldly. The room didn't smell very nice and on further notice there was some regurgitated alcohol (Laurel hadn't eaten dinner) on the floor but luckily it was mostly in the trash can. Laurel was sprawled out over his bed, completely knocked out.
Nic walked out in boxers and a towel on his head. He seemed to be deep in thought because he didn't notice right away. But after a moment he blinked, slowly looking around.
Frei continued to stare at him, having no visible reaction to his lack of clothes. After a moment she reached up and patted some ruffled hair back into place.
He was silent for another moment before looking to Frei. "... Did you call someone to clean this up?" he asked.
"No." Frei said blankly, staring at him icily once more.
"... If you aren't going to leave, then clothes your eyes while I get a shirt," he told her.
Frei didn't close her eyes, but after a moment her eyes left Nic and drifted over to Laurel seemingly on her own accord.
So Nic awkwardly worked his way around not exposing his back to Frei, slipping on a shirt and some pants before calling someone to bring an instaclean.
"If you really loved her you'd do it yourself to spare her the embarrassment of having others know she was so drunk she threw up all over your room." Frei suddenly said in her typical stone-ish voice. That might have been the most words Nic had heard her say.
"... Something tells me they all already know," he replied smoothly before double checking to make sure Laurel was breathing alright.
Frei continued to eye him closely, "She's fine."
Laurel seemed to be in a very deep sleep. Nic had never seen her sleep so hard before. |
"... Did you give her something?" he asked Frei.
Frei shook her head slightly.
Nic let it be, going to check on his computer while they waited.
Rather quickly some girls came with cleaning supplies. It didn't take them long to have the room back the way it was but they frequently glanced at Laurel's passed out form on the bed. But as they noticed Frei's cold, borderline glare, they finished and left. Frei then turned the look to Nic's back.
Nic continued working on his computer quietly like he had forgotten Frei was there.
"How much longer will that be your priority?" Frei suddenly spoke.
It took awhile for Nic to break away. "What?" he asked.
Frei frowned slightly but repeated her question.
Nic's typical frown deepened a little. "As long as it takes," he replied before turning back.
"That's not fair to Raven." Frei said a bit sharply.
"Raven?" Nic asked, not looking away.
"Yes. He took care of her when she was with her father and during the aftermath. Now he's dealing with all the changes in emotional changes. Can't you see what Laurel's doing?" Frei demanded with a little force which was unusual, "She only falls apart around Raven since you're unavailable."
"I don't listen to lectures," Nic replied smoothly, still not looking at her. "There's a lot more at stake here."
Frei was silent for a long moment, "Don't insult me." she stated, "I care for Laurel. Do not get so wrapped up in the bigger picture that you forget the people right in front of you, no matter your good intentions."
