Solomon forced him into the chair, "I heard that..you will eat and you will like it..even if I have to force feed you." He winked, walking off into the kitchen to help Anne. He came back out with a plate of two eggs, two slices of bacon and a half slice of toast, seeing as Solomon ate the other half...just because. He set the plate in front of Holden and handed him a fork. He sat next to Holden, biting his lip, "We do need to talk about a few other things Holden..."
|
Holden sighed, "I didn't say I wasn't going to eat." He said feeling helpless here. He looked at Solomon when he sat down, he set his fork down and pushed the plate away. "Great, well I have a feeling this is bad. You just have that face on." He said circling his face in the air. "If someone else died, I don't want to know." Holden said with a sigh.
|
Solomon blinked, peering down at his own nose, as if that could help him see his expression, "I had that look? What no! No one died...well..Alicia did..technically..she'll be fine. A-anyway..we need to talk about you and this other issue that has suddenly come up." He leaned on the back of the chair, sitting sideways in it to look at Holden, "First, you...and you know what I'm talking about."
|
"Alicia's already old news Solomon." Holden said waving. "And yes you have a 'We need to talk but I really don't want to' look." He said crossing his arms. "I want to be turned Solomon, but I will wait until you are ready." He said looking down. "Now comes time for my look..." He said with a frown and his lip bitten a little. "I want to know what happened after I died. I..I know you died... But I want to know how, and why." He asked as his eyes twinkled in the sunlight. "And I want the truth." Holden said standing firm.
|
"Don't be disappointed, but I have no idea if or when that time will come. You have another chance at all the things I took away from you by turning you...I couldn't possibly do that again." He flinched rather severely as Holden mentioned his death. He closed his eyes tightly, his face contorted with hurt and sadness, "I don't want to tell you, but I know I have to anyway." He sat the proper way in the chair, leaning back and letting his head fall back, not bothering to support it. He kept his eyes closed the entire time, "After I..killed you...I hurried over to Hayden and managed to drag her outside...I grabbed whatever human I could find and gave her every last drop...I thought I was succeeding in saving her..but it was too late. Once I realized that, I decided to take care of myself; seeing as I was almost in the same boat as everyone else. Once I had recovered enough strength, I...buried you all at that pond, just off my property..er..old property."
He was silent for a few seconds before continuing, "Eventually I sold the Manor, the cars, and the horses..Jack went with them to make sure Zera, Rilov, Damien and Kali were properly cared for. I had then bought a little house just outside of London..and..barely a year had passed by before..." He trailed off, running his hand through his hair, his tell-tale sign that he was about to say something really bad. "A-and then Serus visited me, but I really never found out why..but I made her do something...I made her k..kill me..." He tried to close his eyes tighter, as if that would help, "Please don't be mad Holden..I just...I've never been so much in love with anyone and without you..I..I just had no ambition...rather than waste space, I had Serus tear my heart out and bury me next to you..." |
Holden clenched his chest as he heard what Solomon said. Then the real truth came out, "Y-..you had Serus kill you?" He asked with sadness, anger, disappointment, and hatred in his voice. His eye twitched as he tried to control his anger. "You could never be a waste of space Solomon!" He said raising his voice. "You..." He trailed off with a growl. "Do you want to know something Solomon?" He asked as he pulled Solomon forward. "Look at me." Holden said slightly slapping Solomon.
"I knew I couldn't hold my mind together. And all of my trust was in your powers." He said clenching his teeth. "I knew you would of been able to fix me. But I couldn't let you." He said tearing up. "What if you would of messed up? What if it wouldn't of held?" He asked as the tears fell down his face. "How would you of felt killing me in a more horrid manner? Then one that was selfless." He said letting go of Solomon's shirt. He ground his teeth, he couldn't believe he was going to do this. He wound back his hand and slapped Solomon across the face as hard as he could. "I'm sorry, but you fucking lied to me, wait no everyone fucking lied to me." He said shaking his hand. He paused for a moment before he rubbed his hands through his long hair, "I..I need time alone to think.. Out of my head please." He said as he stood up and walked away. He went outside and found a place under a nice big tree, Holden sat down and took in a deep breath. |
Solomon didn't answer, or even react when Holden hit him. He deserved much more than that. He sighed, but nodded as he exited Holden's mind. I should have told him something else. He opened his eyes, sensing someone else in the room. He looked over to Anne, who was really disturbed, "Please don't..."
Anne came over with a slight frown. She set her hand towel on the table, sitting next to Solomon, "Solomon, he's right. You should not have done that...At the same time, I understand how you feel. You and Holden have a second chance here, no one ever gets one... You should not let him slip away with age and illness." She lightly touched his cheek with a soft smile, "Or at least, when he dies, continue on. At least, he would've lived a full and happy life with the man he loves." Solomon sighed, "I know Anne.." He flinched as she touched his face, "I know I made a horrible mistake, and I regret that decision more than anything else." He rubbed his cheek a bit after Anne removed her hand, "Just make sure he eats...I need some time to think myself." With that, he vanished. Anne growled a bit as he disappeared, "I'm not the maid Solomon!" She ran her hand through her bright auburn hair with a sigh, eying the food she had made for Holden, "Well he certainly wont be back to eat it.." With that she took the fork and began to savor her food. She hadn't eaten all morning; too busy trying to figure out what to make for Holden. Mystic sighed, he knew it was going to regret this, 'Close your eyes Melody..even though you can't throw up, if you don't it will still make you feel horrible.' He waited until her eyes were closed, then he teleported Melody to the general area he sensed Holden. When she felt solid ground under her again, she opened her eyes. She found herself in a rather tranquil garden and underneath the huge tree, she saw a boy. Was that Holden? It had to be, Mystic promised her. Still a bit shaky with this whole..mechanical movement thing, she shakingly stood up. She only made it a few steps before she found herself tumbling for the ground. She pounded her fist on the grass closing her eyes in frustration. |
Holden sighed as he herd commotion coming from behind him. "What is it Mystic?" He asked annoyed that he couldn't get a moment alone. "You know for a demon you are quite noisy when you teleport." He said with a smile as he leaned his head against the tree. "Can I ask you a question? Your married and have been for god only knows how long. Anyway, I just don't know what to do about Solomon. He lied to me, Serus lied to me. I just can't believe she actually killed one of her closest friends." He said with a sigh. "Sorry, what is it that you need?" Holden asked as he finally turned around to look at not Mystic but a little girl...
|
The girl lifted her head as she heard the boy speak. She still didn't understand how these..senses worked on this stupid doll, but she was adjusting. At least, she didn't have to worry about starving..right? Suddenly she jerked backwards a bit, a scowl on her face; again, somehow and beyond her knowledge. With a frustrated expression, she managed to make it to her feet again, but was a bit wobbly, especially with the wind. It was easy to tell that there was something really off about this girl; especially with how her face seemed to be..so..perfect and pale.
She lifted her hands, which jittered a bit as she began to sign, her face turning to seriousness as she concentrated on not loosing control. 'Are you Holden? Mystic promised me he'd send me to you.' She took another few steps forward before falling onto her butt. She clenched her fists and opened her mouth a bit in a silent scream of frustration. |
'Yes I am..' Holden said signing as well. He didn't know if this child could hear as well. 'Have we met before? I feel like I somehow know you.' He said with a slight confused look on his face as he signed. He stood up when he finished, he walked over to this girl and helped her stand up. He noticed that this girl was very light, "What is going on here?" Holden asked himself.
|
She blinked a bit as he lifted her, she pointed to her ears then said, 'I can hear perfectly well, but I prefer signing form the other..it..makes me feel a bit better' She smiled a bit, as much as her synthetic face would allow. She watched him with her deep blue eyes, then frowned, 'Mystic said you...went through what I did...an..' she paused a moment, trying to think of the word he used, '..attachment. I'm sorry Holden, for everything.' She buried her face in his clothes, clutching his shirt with her hands for a moment before the gears in her joints ground against each other from a sudden lapse in control. She went limp for a moment falling to the ground, before jerking back up, alert, 'I'm still learning..sorry.'
|
'Ok.' Holden said still not sure what was going on. His eyes got wide when she said that she has went through an attachment. "What do you have to be sorry about? It isn't your fault that I died." He said as she buried her face in his clothes. 'It's fine' He said as he knelt down and looked into her eyes. 'I swear I have seen your eyes before. He said eying the girl. 'This type of blue isn't normal.' He said getting even more curious. 'What is your name?' Holden asked tilting his head.
|
'I'm sorry I made him mad at you all the time..' She jumped as he suddenly was at eye level. She blinked a bit, feeling mildly uncomfortable that he was watching her so intently. After some time of her remaining still, she lifted her hands, 'Melody Rousseau.' She grabbed at the hem of her dress, looking away and fidgeting with it. She wanted to tell him more, but she was starting to feel rather weakened. This was the longest she had ever stayed awake; as this movement method took a lot of her energy. She swayed a bit, very sloppily signing, 'I need..Mystic..' Her eyes became a bit duller as she moved to sit down.
|
"Melody? How?" Holden asked falling to his butt. "I know this is possible but..." He said trailing off. 'I'm not a vampire anymore.' He said feeling like he was of no use. He closed his eyes, wait! He felt it, Mystic didn't take his link out. "Mystic Melody needs you." Holden said wishing he knew what was going on.
|
Melody nodded a bit, 'I know. Mystic told me.' She scooted closer to him, her eyes obviously unable to focus at this point as they moved every two seconds or so. 'I followed Alicia...and then..I woke up like this..'
Mystic soon appeared with a slight frown, "This is going to be very difficult if we can't find you someone to stay in contact with Melody.." He knelt down, picking her up, "I'm sorry she couldn't last longer Holden, this is so new to her." He stood moving some hair from Melody's eyes, "When we brought Alicia back, she followed through the 'portal'. Without a proper set up for her, Azriel had to improvise and attach her spirit to something she knew couldn't reject her, a Marionette doll...The two of us constructed a special frame," he paused, lifting Melody's sleeve a bit to reveal her pale arm. He gently put his nail in a small seam around her wrist, lifting the rubber skin and pulling the skin of the hand off like a glove to reveal the complex array of levers, gears, wires and all this and that. "It's very difficult to adjust to and to power...she needs to remain in constant contact with someone who can manipulate Ethereal energy to 'recharge' her. Once she gets more proficient, she can go longer without Azriel or myself giving her more energy." He replaced the rubber skin making the seam almost invisible as he did so; also replenishing Melody's energy. Suddenly, Melody jolted, her eyes twinkling brightly as she looked down to Holden. She remained content in Mystic's arms, watching him silently. After awhile, she lifted her hands, 'It's not so bad...but it's really hard...' |
Holden nodded as Mystic talked. He smiled weakly at Melody, 'You will work through it, you are very strong.' He said looking back to Mystic. "Um.. Mystic? Did you know how Solomon actually died?" He asked as he closed his eyes. "H-..he told me, please tell me that you didn't lie to me too." He said opening his eyes. He felt a throbbing in the hand he slapped Solomon with. "Great I broke my hand." Holden thought to himself.
|
Mystic took Holden's hand gently, repairing the bones for him, I had not met Solomon until the day he woke up from his coma...I knew nothing about it. However, I did see how he died, but not the why. You never asked me, so I never told you. Besides, Solomon had to get over it and tell you himself. " He looked to Melody, "You should be fine for a few more hours, did you want to stay with Holden for awhile then?"
Melody nodded, 'If I could, please? I also have to apologize to Solomon.' She stood rather well for a moment as Mystic set her down. She made her way over to Holden, having to grab onto him for support for a moment before she let him go. Mystic smiled, "I told you Melody, either way Holden, I must be off. Azriel and I would like to figure out a permanent solution for her." He bowed slightly and disappeared. When Mystic was gone, she looked up to Holden, 'You're not going ot poke and prod me are you? That creepy white haired vampire kept doing that and it made me feel..bad..' She of course, was referring to Serus. 'Not that I don't like her, it was just creepy.' |
"Thanks Mystic." Holden said as he picked Melody up. 'No I'm not." He said with a small smile. 'I was just sitting out here and thinking.' He said with a sigh. 'I'm sorry I couldn't save you.' He said as he walked back over to the tree. When he made it to the tree he set Melody down, then he himself sat down leaning up against the tree. "You can ask me anything you want, or we could just sit here and enjoy the peacefulness." Holden said with a smile.
|
'Good..cause I wanted to bit her stupid finger off.' A slight pout came upon her cheeks as she crossed her arms. After a moment of seething, she relaxed, 'What happened..that day?' She angled her head a bit so she could see his face better. She then leaned on him, watching the world before them, 'Umm..don't answer that. I don't want to know. Mystic said it was bad. I just want to relax here.' She smiled up at him, her eyes following a random flock of birds in the sky for a moment.
|
Holden laughed a little bit, "Serus is a weird one." He said with a little growl. He put his arm around Melody, "It was very bad. And good in a little bit I will bring you to Solomon, so you could apologize to him if you still wish." He said with a little sigh. "Not that he would accept the apology." Holden said crossing his stretched out legs.
|
She nodded, agreeing with him. She remained still for a moment before asking, 'Is he still mad at me?' She stretched out her legs, twisting her feet so her shoes clacked lightly on each other. 'What do you think I can do to make him less angry with me?'
|
Holden looked at Melody's hands, "I don't know if he is." He said watching the girl intently. "Well that is the age old question, just like how can I forgive him for what he did?" He said with a sigh. "No offense to you, but I just wish there was someone I could talk to about this. Alicia's going through the turning process, Seth is god only knows where." He said with a sigh. "That is the thing about technically being dead, you have no one to talk to." He said with another sigh. "Not that I don't mind talking to you." Holden said with a smile.
Seth sighed, "Serus we should probably got home, the twins are going to be home from school soon." He said looking at Serus. |
She turned to face Seth, "You're right...can you believe that they're going to graduate soon?"
Melody frowned, 'I'm sorry I couldn't be of any help Holden.' She looked down slightly, her hair falling to cover her face. 'I'm only a bother again..aren't I? He's going to get really mad and yell at both of us some more...isn't he?' |
"Don't remind me." Seth said standing up. "I have a feeling Holden is going to want to talk to you." He said walking over to Serus. "Well we will see you soon Azriel." He said with a smile as he put his arm around Serus. "Love you hun." Seth said to Serus as he teleported them back to Wisconsin.
"Its not your fault." Holden said with a smile. "You aren't a bother, and you never were." He said picking her head up. "If he yells, I will yell right back." He said placing a kiss on her forehead. "Life is just complicated. And to make it even more complicated, we are four souls in someones body, and in your case a marionette doll." He said with a sigh. "Sorry if that sounded mean." He said rubbing her shoulder. "Look at it this way, at least you didn't have another soul ripped from your body while you were in it." Holden said with a sarcastic chuckle. |
Serus frowned, "I don't want to talk to him. He's whiny..." Once they appeared in the study at the Manor, she let him go, "You do it."
'At least you have a body!' her arms moved rather quickly while she signed angrily, 'I'm stuck in this..toy..I can never have a "normal" life! Mystic said so...' |
"Ohh no." Seth said waving his hands. "This is all you." He said pointing at Serus. "We will talk to him together?" Seth asked holding out his hand.
"Sorry.." Holden said as he felt a radiation of power. "Come with me, I need to talk to someone." He said standing up. He quickly and gently picked up Melody. He ran into the house, "Seth?" Holden yelled. Seth looked back, "Up here!" |
Serus frowned, "But I don't want to..." She sighed, looking back as Seth called out ot Holden, "You do the talking."
Melody put her arms around Holden's neck as he held her. She wished she could speak. She recognized Seth's voice from when she was with him and Mystic. She also had a feeling that that creepy Serus would be here as well. She situated herself so she could sign to Holden quickly, 'I don't want to go by her again. She stares at me.' |
"Fine, even though this isn't the big bad Serus I fell in love with." Seth said with a smile.
"I'll tell her not to stare." Holden said as he ran up the stairs. He tripped up a little bit, but caught himself. He ran into the study and leaned on the door jam. "Well I forgot how much running takes out of ya." He said breathing hard. "Ok, um Serus. You already know but I wanna talk to you. And can you promise not to stare at Melody? She doesn't like it." Holden said walking into the study, and shutting the door. |
Melody gave Serus the stink-eye, doing a rather rude gesture in sign.
Serus's mouth hung open, "D-did you see that?" She looked to Seth, then back to Melody. She twisted her hands rapidly; commenting back. "And I don't stare, I analyze. Get used to it little girl." She put her hands in her pockets to prevent her from saying other rather rude things. "Oh would you look at that! Jaelynn requires my assistance..Sorry Seth." She grinned, giving him a quick kiss and disappearing. Melody looked at Serus astonished. That was just mean. She looked back to Holden with a pout, 'Did you see what she said to me?!' |
Seth nodded holding back laughing. "Damn it Serus!" He said as she disappeared. He growled, "Holden, Melody sit right there. I will be right back." He said as he disappeared. He appeared next to Serus, "Serus Marie Antinori! You and Jaelynn are at each others throats right now. So I know she doesn't need your help right now." He said grabbing her shoulders. He teleported them back to the study, he forced her to sit in a empty chair. He wrapped her in TK so she couldn't move, "Now you are gonna sit here and answer any questions Holden has, got me?" He said as his eyes flashed red. Seth walked behind Serus and put his arms on her shoulder's suppressing her power.
Holden chuckled, "Yes I did." He said as he sat in a chair. He waited for Seth to return. |
Serus squeaked as she was forced into the chair, "It's not my place to tell him! That's for Solomon." She grabbed onto his shoulders and flipped him over onto his back on the floor, "Let go.."
Melody jumped a bit as Serus was suddenly back in the room. She had to wrap her arms around Holden's neck to support herself. She watched with silent amusement as the two glared at each other. |
Seth grunted as he flipped onto the floor. "No." He said with a wince.
"Solomon already told me that you killed him Serus." Holden said wincing a little bit. "I'm not mad at you for ripping out his heart. Because I know he forced you to do it." He said taking a breath. "Even though I am the one who actually ripped it out, by asking him to kill me..." He said looking down at the floor. "I want to know what you wanted to talk to him about that day." He said looking at Serus. "Please tell me the truth Serus." Holden said with a slight frown. |
Serus growled at Seth, her eyes glowing, "Do it now." She gathered up some power, breaking his hold on her as she stood. She brushed herself off, then looked to Holden, "Forgive my bluntness, but that matter does not involve you Holden. It's far too complicated for you." She narrowed her eyes slightly, wanting him to drop the topic.
|
Holden sighed, "I don't care Serus, there is a lot of things I don't understand." He said looking to Seth. "Like how in the hell did my soul get put in a Paladin's body." He said looking back to Serus. "Or how in the hell could Solomon ask his closest friend to kill him..." He said standing up. "Or how could I not save my best friend, and my sister and Melody from death." He said getting angry. "That slayer didn't want them he wanted me. I-..it..." He trailed off as he started to cry. Holden sat down still crying.
|
Melody adjusted herself on his lap, pulled a small handkerchief from a pocket on her dress and gently whipping away his tears. She quickly stuffed it back in her pocket, 'Holden don't be sad...you did your best.'
Serus sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose, "Dammit Holden! You think it was easy for me? Not to mention, him?" She seethed for a moment, causing a window to shatter. After a bit of silence, she spoke calmly, "You want to know what I went to talk to him about? Fine. I'll tell you." She crossed her arms tightly over her chest, "That slayer, wasn't technically a slayer. He was a Mercenary, and a very unpredictable man at that. Your aunt never planned on actually taking you to court. She knew that she'd loose the custody battle and decided to just enure her victory. She hired him to kill you and and Solomon. The man wasn't mentally stable and once he got involved in killing Solomon, he thought 'Why stop? I've already gotten my money. Let's make it a smorgasbord.' He killed everyone just for fun. I was going to tell Solomon this, but he wouldn't hear a word of it. He demanded that I either kill him and he'd find someone else. I figured, if he's going to die, might as well be with dignity." |
Holden tensed up when he heard that it was his aunt that caused all of this. "That fucking bitch! And I bet she didn't plan on the fact that I left everything to Seth." He said putting Melody down on the floor. He looked at Seth who was still on the floor. He looked to Serus, "Thank you for telling me the truth Serus." He said standing up. He walked over to her and gave her a small hug. He then kneeled down next to Seth, "Take me to my aunt." Holden said grabbing Seth's shirt.
Seth nodded and teleported to Holden's aunt. "Don't do anything stupid, you still are human." He said brushing himself off. Holden nodded and pulled out the knife Seth had in the small of his back. He walked over to the chair that a black hared woman was sitting in. He put the knife in his belt, he then put his hands on the woman's shoulder's and started to rub them, he leaned down "Hello Auntie." He said in a whisper. The woman jumped when she felt hands on her shoulders. She tensed when she heard the voice, "Th-..this isn't possible." She said not moving. "Oh yes it is." He said walking in front of the woman. "Do I remind you of someone?" He asked with an evil smile. "H-..Holden? How, I saw him kill you." She said stuttering. "Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. You know that was stupid hiring someone who was mentally unstable to kill me." He said rubbing her cheek with his hand. "I'm sorry Holden, I just needed the money." She said flinching as he rubbed her cheek. "I didn't know he was going to kill Amanda as well." She said as her eyes teared up. Holden's eyes narrowed, he quickly pulled out the knife and put it to her throat. "Don't you ever say that name." He said twirling the knife on her skin. "Holden?" Seth said walking closer to him. Holden glared at Seth, then looked back at his aunt. "Your lucky I'm not a vampire, because I would destroy you if I was." He said with a smile. "But you will have to deal with this." He said as he swiftly moved the knife down to her heart. "I love you auntie." He said sarcastically as he jammed the knife into her heart, killing her after a few jerks. He pulled the knife out and ran it across his tongue. He looked up at Seth. The woman started to cry as she felt the knife move from her throat. "Please." She said as the knife slammed into her heart. Seth sighed as he watched Holden kill his aunt, "Come on. Now I am gonna hear an earful from Solomon." He said grabbing Holden and teleporting back to the study. "I will take the heat from Solomon. I am the one that killed my aunt." Holden said as they appeared in the study. He slammed the bloody knife into the table. "All I know is that I feel cleansed." Holden said with a content smile. {52.42 AU} |
Seth would feel a slight tugging at his shirt until he disappeared all together. He would soon reappear in a foreign house and a rather tiny study. He would also find Solomon leaning on the desk, his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes glowing red.
Melody frowned as Holden put her down; she wanted him to carry her. She nervously glanced to Serus, her fingers twiddling with some ribbons from her headdress. It wasn't long until Holden had come back. She stepped away as she saw the knife, nervously signing, 'What did you do?' Serus was about to scold Seth when suddenly he vanished. She blinked, surprised. "Oh dear...Holden, you really over stepped this time..." Not wanting to be further involved, she disappeared as well, appearing back with the twins and Annemarie. |
Seth sighed and ran his hand through his hair, "Go ahead and yell Solomon or hit me whatever." He said knowing that's what was going to happen.
Holden looked at Serus, "How did I over step?" He asked as she disappeared. He then looked to Melody, 'You don't want to know.' He said waiting for Solomon to swoop in and yell. |
She frowned, 'You did a bad thing..didn't you?'
"Don't be so nonchalant about this Seth! You knew what Holden was going to do, and you didn't do anything. 'Don't do anything stupid'..like that was supposed to stop him?" He lifted his one hand, pinching the bridge of his nose, threatening to break the cartilage. "You're rather lucky, Seth. I don't know whether to beat you or yell at you." |
Holden just nodded.
"Solomon, I know. But he has to make his own decisions." Seth said with a small sigh. "Do whatever you want to do to me." He said knowing it wasn't good to argue. |
