Jaelynn frowned, getting off the chair and heading over to the bed. She sat on the edge of the bed, lifting Serus's arm to look at the mark, "Well, it stopped bleeding at least..." She jumped, hearing Seth yell out, dropping Serus's arm and hurrying over to the door, peering inside as it was still open, "You alright?"

"Damn it!" Seth said grabbing his ears. He heard Jaelynn ask him is he was ok. "I guess so, Felix's hearing must be amplifying." Seth said still holding his head. Seth mustered all of the power he had left, even though he didn't know what the repercussions would be. "Felix are you all right?" Seth asked Felix.
"I was doing ok until you boomed into my head." Felix said grasping his head. "I'm sorry old friend." Seth said with a smile. "Its ok sir." Felix said smiling. "Can you call a contractor to fix the roof and attic?" Seth asked clutching his head even more. "Yes sir." Felix said as he went to use the phone. |
She nodded, "I see. I'll grab you a fresh set of clothes too, so don't worry about that. I'll leave them at the end table outside the door here." She shut the door and headed off to find something for Seth to wear,as she left, the sounds of construction filled the room once more.
Serus let out a groan as the loud noises downstairs woke her up. She rolled on her back, opening her eyes slightly curious as to where she was. Oh I remember...my room. She sat up grabbing her head as it began to throb, I need to feed...I wonder if Jaelynn is close enough for me to contact. She could only stretch her mind around the room, but found no one else inside. "Jaelynn? Seth?" Suddenly she heard something. Running water. The bathroom? Ah, Seth must be cleaning up. She sighed, swinging her legs to the floor and standing up. Her hand quickly shot out to grab onto one of the poles for support. Jaelynn came back with a shirt and pants just as Serus was getting out of bed. She quickly set the clothes on the table and hurried over, "You shouldn't be up yet. Please, go back to sleep?" |
Seth took a short shower. He got out and started to dry off. He heard Jaelynn say that Serus shouldn't be up yet. He quickly put the towel around his waist and rushed out to help Serus. "Serus you really should rest some more." He said concerned.

Serus frowned, shifting her weight to Jaelynn for support, "I know, but I need to stop Layla. Every second I'm sitting here she's off destroying something and getting stronger. I can't wait any longer." She pushed off Jaelynn, and started to shuffle for the door.
Jaelynn grabbed Serus gently and pushed her back to the bed, "I know. I have our best looking for her. I made sure they were not to engage her unless absolutely necessary. Perhaps they can weaken her if the situation arises. I will go get you some fresh blood, just promise me you'll stay in the room?" Serus frowned, allowing herself to be forced back on the bed. She folded her hands in her lap, looking at the floor, "Fine, I will." |
When Jaelynn left the room Seth went over to grab the clothes she had thrown on the table. He went into the bathroom to fully dry off and to get dressed. He went out and saw that Serus was still awake he walked over to her and crouched in front of her. "Are you ok?" He asked kindly. "I know I don't have much power left but you can drink from me to help yourself." Seth said with a weak smile.

Serus shook her head, "No, I'll just wait for Jaelynn to bring me someone. You need your strength as much as I do." She smiled leaning forward and touching her forehead to his. "What happened after we were ambushed?"

"Well long story short. I cut off Dragos' head and stuck a knife in his heart." Seth said unfazed, waiting for her reaction.

She was silent for a moment, quietly sending a tendril of telekinesis into his mind. He would be unable to sense it since it was so weak. She quickly pulled the memory from his mind while he was talking about it, visions of the battle flooding her brain. "I see...congratulations."
She sighed, disbanding the memory from her mind, "Layla got to the council before me...They think that because she is alive, I lied about everything and think I have some back plot now." |
"I don't think you do." Seth said gently grabbing her hands. "Can I ask you why you kept her alive?" Seth asked as he softly lifted her head.

Serus tensed up slightly, "I didn't intend for her to survive the first time I fought her. She's weaving lies into their minds."

"I see." Seth said intrigued. "I'm sorry I asked, I didn't mean to upset you." Seth said sincerely. "When I was fighting Dragos I drank some of his blood, and I was able to move some ground. When he was about to kill him I drank from him again because I didn't know if I was gonna have to fight Layla, and I feel different. Like I can do more. Do you know anything about why I was able to do that?" He asked as he readjusted.

Serus nodded a bit sitting up, "I do...if you drink another vampires blood you temporarilly get their abilities. I'm not sure what the exact conditions are but we'll figure it out. Just don't try to use any power until we have a place were we can safely test things.

"That sounds fun." Seth said as he got up and sat right next to Serus. "I wont do anything in tell you say I can." Seth said as he lovingly grabbed Serus' chin and turned her face until he was looking straight at her face. Seth leaned in and delicately kissed Serus on the lips. Seth broke the kiss after a few seconds. "If you want me to stop just say so." As he went in for another kiss.

Serus smiled as he kissed her, "I would've told you quite awhile ago." She let him kiss her again, but broke the kiss after a few seconds. She smiled weakly, then leaned back on the headboard closing her eyes. It was mildly apparent that something was on her mind but she wasn't sure if she was going to address it.

Seth kissed her a second time. "Serus, whats wrong?" Seth asked turning towards her. "What ever it is you can tell me." He said as he took her hands and caressed them.

Serus shrugged, "I just..don't understand it. I had made sure she was dead. I completely annihilated her. There was nothing left. I don't understand..." She trailed off and chewed on the inside of her cheek as she thought, not really indicating if she was going to finish her sentence.

"Serus, its not your fault." Seth said as he rubbed her hands. "No matter what she WILL die. I don't care if I die trying." Seth said with fire in his eyes. "Um Serus? When we were in the room downstairs, did you hear what I said?" He asked curiously.

Serus gave him a doubtful look, "I'm not so sure about that. For some reason, I don't think our next meeting will end so well." She shrugged it off, tilting her head as he asked her. "I couldn't really hear anything other than..white noise, I guess is the best way to describe it."
She frowned a bit, pulling her hands from his, folding her legs pretzel style on the bed and using her hands to support her as she leaned back slightly, but not against the head board, "What did you say?" |
Seth looked at his empty hands. "I hope she doesn't reject me." He thought to himself very scared. "Um. I sa... Said... That... I... Love you." He finally spit it out. He wanted to look at her but was to nervous to. So he kept looking at his hands waiting for her response.

Serus smiled, kissing his cheek, "Oh I know, I just wanted to hear you say it again." She winked and sat back once more. "I heard you back in the room. I just love it when you get all shy on me." She laughed softly, ruffling his hair like he was 5. "And don't worry, I love you too." She gave him another quick kiss before standing up off the bed.
Just then Jaelynn had arrived and entered the room, "Ah, you're feeling stronger? Marvelous. I have a few..candidates lined up. They smell divine if I must say so myself. I hope you don't mind that I took a detour for my own meal. That's why it took me so long." |
"Oh." Seth said as she ruffled his hair. "Thank god." He whispered to himself. When Jaelynn entered he blankly looked at her.
"Umm sir?" Felix talked in Seth's head. "Yes Felix." Seth said out loud forgetting to think it. "Shit." He said as he noticed that he said it out loud. "Yes Felix, what is it?" "We need you to return as soon as you can." Felix said sounding scared. "Felix, what's wrong. And don't lie to me." Seth said concerned. "The council." Felix said. "Yes what about them?" Seth said a little angry. "They are here, and they want to see you." Felix said sounding very scared. Seth's blood ran cold as it came into his head. "Fuck." Seth said quietly but knew Serus and Jaelynn heard him. "I'll be there in a little while." He said as he got whiter than normal. If Seth's heart was beating it definitely would of stopped hearing that news. |
Serus looked to Seth, sensing something is wrong, "What is it? What's wrong?" She gently placed her hand on his cheek, taking the little snippet of the conversation from his mind. "This is not good. We will leave shortly. Just try to relax while I go feed quick. Alright?" She hurried out of the room past Jaelynn whispering, "Keep him here," as she passed by.
Jaelynn nodded as she left, looking at Seth with mild concern, "Serus is planning on going with you, but that's a very bad idea." She stepped forward, putting her hand on his shoulder firmly, "I will take you there, then I will deal with her back here. Just be careful Seth." She gathered up her power and swiftly teleported them back to the Augustin mansion, "I will keep a telepathic link open with you. I will advise you if you need it, alright?" She smiled, then disappeared, teleporting back to Serus' room and waited. |
"No." Seth said as Serus said she was gonna go with him. Seth felt the teleportation when he was suddenly back at his home. "Please don't let Serus come please." Seth said worried. "Ok, thank you..." He started to say as she disappeared.
Felix saw Seth just standing there. "Master... Master..." He said as he shook Seth. "Wha... What?" Seth said very worried. "The council." Felix said as he started to drag Seth towards the meeting room. They reached the door. "Felix I can't go in there." He said as the doors opened by themselves. "Come in Seth Augustin." A booming male voice said. With a little push from Felix, Seth walked in, as he did the doors shut by themselves. "Have a seat." A woman said pointing at the empty chair. Seth walked up to the chair gingerly and sat down. "May I ask why you have summoned me Masters?" Seth said trying not to keep direct eye contact. "Well we have been watching you Seth." A new male voice said with a grin. "Ok." Seth said as he looked down at his hands. "We saw you kill Dragos Raksasha." The woman said. "Is it ok that I killed him." Seth said with a gulp. The panel of ten elder vampires laughed. "If you didn't kill him you wouldn't be here." The woman said calming down from their laughing. "So then why am I here?" Seth asked trying not to sound disrespectful. "Ah Seth you have always been a to the point person." The first man who spoke said. "We wanted to go over your fight with Dragos." The second man who spoke said. With that one of the members that hasn't talked went to the center of the room and threw their hands up casting the whole room into Seth's fight with Dragos. |
Serus came back into her room and was suddenly furious, "Jaelynn Page Antinori! What have you done? I told you to keep him here!" Serus approached her and slapped her across the face, her face full of rage.
Jaelynn just stood there as she was slapped, her face blank of any emotion. She closed her eyes for a second, then opened them, addressing Serus in a calm manner, "You have to understand the circumstances Mistress. The Council believes you're about to betray the entire vampire race. If they were to learn of your failure to kill Layla once more, I fear that they might..take action." She grabbed Serus's face gently, her blue eyes showing a bit of sadness, "Mistress, you must understand. I only wish to protect you. Seth will be alright on his own. I have to ask you something though." She paused, but didn't wait for Serus to ask, "What are they talking about? What did they mean when they said you kept her contained? Please be honest with me Mistress. I need to know in order to help you." Serus was shocked as Jaelynn grabbed her, but didn't move away or reprimand her. She tensed up as Jaelynn mentioned her conversation with the Council. "I..don't know what you're talking about. I killed her, right before father, then never saw her again. Until a few days ago that is." Yet, she could not relax. She wanted to tell someone what really happened, but she couldn't. Not even Jaelynn would stand by her side after hearing it. |
"The moment you started to torture Dragos we knew you were the one to do a job for us." The woman said intently.
"A job?" Seth said scared. "To kill Layla Raksasha." The woman said sternly. As Seth's fight with Dragos went away. "You want me to kill Layla?!" Seth said in shock. "Jaelynn they want me to kill Layla." He thought as he answered them. "Yes." The woman said coldly. "Layla is hundreds of years older than me, there's no possible way I could beat her." Seth said trying not to argue. "Seth. You were able to kill Dragos you can kill Layla." The man said angered. "But..." Seth started to say as he was cut off by the woman. "Seth you have three options, either kill Layla. Kill yourself. OR KILL SERUS ANTINORI." The woman said as she looked at the other council members. "You... You want me to kill Serus?" Seth asked overcome with anger. "Then kill Layla!" The woman yelled. "FINE!" Seth yelled back as he got up. "We will contact you when you killed Layla." The woman said as they disappeared. "FUCK!!!!!!" Seth yelled as he unleashed a huge telekinetic burst. Destroying everything in the room. "Sir?" Felix said as he ran into the room after Seth blew the doors out. "They wanted me to either kill Layla or Serus." Seth said as he got angry again. "Now sir calm down. You can kill Layla. You killed Dragos." Felix said not trying to act like he was listening. "Felix were you listening at the door the whole time?" Seth said trying to calm down. "No... (sigh) Yes I was." Felix said disappointed in himself. "Its fine Felix. At least someone knows." Seth said with a sigh. "Jaelynn can you come get me?" He thought to her. "Felix can you get me some blood quick?" Seth asked rubbing his temples. "Yes sir." He said as he ran out quickly. "This is horse shit." Seth said as Felix came back in. "That was fast." Seth said as he grabbed the glass and chugged the blood fast. "Ya I had it ready." Felix said with a slight chuckle. "Good job old man." Seth said with a weak smile. |
"You won't mention any of that to her. Just tell her they wanted to go over your fight." Jaelynn frowned as she watched Serus, "If you're lying to me, I will never be able to trust you again. I care for you, but I will not tolerate distrust and lies. You know you can trust me with anything. Now excuse me, I have to get Seth." With that she disappeared.
Serus frowned as Jaelynn left, What am I going to do? She walked over to a chair and flopped down in it, rubbing her temples. She had no idea how either of them would react to such news..no wait. Seth wouldn't care. He was too young to understand the severity of it. Jaelynn on the other hand, would likely not be so..forgiving. Jaelynn appeared in front of Seth, her arms crossed and a scowl upon her face, "What else did they say? I sense you're not telling me something." She tilted her head slightly causing her blonde bangs to cover her eyes a bit. |
Seth was getting used to Jaelynn appearing right in front of him. "Well they want me to kill Layla or Serus." Seth said obviously angry.

Jaelynn was obviously upset as well, "That's ridiculous! Did they tell you why? Serus has done nothing wrong. Layla's incredibly powerful its to be expected that she survive." She sighed shaking her head "Well head back soon and hopefully she doesn't go probing your mind for the conversation you had with them."

"I don't know why Jaelynn." Seth said trying not to get angry again. "There's no way I could kill Serus." Seth said with a sigh. "I can't believe they want me to do this." Seth said as he kicked something that was on the ground. Seth turned around and looked at Jaelynn. "Is there anyway we can block my mind when we get back by Serus so she can't read my mind?" Seth asked concerned.

Jaelynn shrugged, "I can try, but she'll know we're hiding something. You're better off trying to hide it yourself and pretending it never happened. I'll give you a few moments before we go back." She crossed her arms over her chest, a puzzled look on her face.

"(Sigh) Ok." Seth said looking at Felix. "I'm sorry old man for giving you and Camelia more work." Seth with a puzzled look on his face.
"Its alright sir. To tell you the truth I've been kind of board not having any duties." Felix said with a grin. "I see." Seth said said looking at Jaelynn. "You ready?" Seth said as he reached out his hand. |
She placed her hand on his shoulder, quickly teleporting them back to Serus's room. "We're back Serus"
Serus sat forward in the chair, "Welcome back. What did they want with Seth?" She turned her head to face Seth, "Anything important?" |
"I'm going to be honest with you Serus." He said as he looked at Jaelynn. "They saw me kill Dragos and they want me to kill Layla." Seth said trying to hide his other option which he wasn't going to do.

She nodded, "Understandable I suppose, but no offense, I don't think you can. I've tried three times." She shrugged, "We can't burn her because of her immunity...I've cut out her heart once already...and I don't think I could get close enough to decapitate her, but she'd probably just regenerate her head."
Jaelynn frowned, "I'm sure we'll think of something. Now, while our scouts are out looking for her, what do you suggest we do Serus?" |
"There has to be away to kill Layla." Seth thought. Seth looked at Jaelynn then back at Serus "Yes what shall we do?" Seth said deep in thought. You could tell something was troubling Seth.

Serus could tell something was wrong, but was unsure if she should ask. She bit her lip, curiosity quickly overcoming her. She was debating if she was going to search Seth's mind for it. "I'm not so sure myself. I guess all we can do is wait?"

Seth kept replaying what happened with the council in his head "KILL SERUS ANTINORI!!!" He got to that part he got really angry. Seth did a Spinning back heel kick to the bed post and broke it in half. "Fuckers!." He yelled as his foot landed back on the ground. "I'm going for a walk." He said as he went over and grabbed his jacket. "I'll be back shortly." He said as he gently placed a kiss on Serus' cheek and walked out the door.

Serus gasped, "Seth! Haven you learned nothing when it comes to my stuff!?" She let out a growl going over to pick up the large wooden pieces. "Jae, I know something else happened..what was it?"
Jaelynn shrugged, "He wouldn't tell me. He just said it was nothing and demanded to be brought back here. Don-don't you get that look on her face. You know better than to go meddling in others' minds. Serus...Serus!" Serus ignored Jaelynn as she hurriedly followed Seth out. She followed his scent until she caught up with him, "Seth, please tell me what's wrong? I want to help you." |
"I'm sorry Serus but I can't tell you." Seth said as he tried to get away. He knew that he'd have to tell her sometime though.
