I agree with you, just take off about 5-6 zeros and the place (with respect to items) is the same, just with more items.

And I agree about the community aspect. Towns is toxic (actually Towns has been toxic since I was a moderator in 2005). No movies now, no way to connect. People fired. No nice video updates. Many friendly people are there but also many young (and older) entitled little boys and girls who troll the place.

Yeah it's sad. But I can't seem to let go. Not to mention I've spent I'm sure well over 1000$ on Gaia over the years. XD More recent now that I have a job and am an adult. HAHAHA But without Gaia I would have never met my hubby (Not through Gaia but my ex was met through Gaia and without meeting him I wouldn't have taken the path that led me to my hubby.) So I'm stuck. haha

actually making art is no way to make money either unless you charge obscene prices, it costs so much and inflation is so high you have to bump up your prices every couple weeks

Most people are charging about 1bil-10bil these days for pretty decent art. It sucks. haha

i know, i charge 40-80 mil myself and i am considered a 'bargain'

i actually do not have a shop, i do art for items, when i am hard up i lurk the art requests and sometimes people find me, i turn down a lot of stuff though since i am picky(i am ick constantly and my doctor cannot help so i have to go easy)

Yeah the movies did suck, lol! I have spent a ton there over the span of a decade. I started there in March 2004. I still go there, actually I am a forum assistant. But I have people there I would never have otherwise met (not my husband like you, that is pretty cool XD).

I'm 23 now and I joined back in late '05, 9 years is a long time to be a part of something and with it going so "mainstream' (at the risk of sounding like a hipster) for the teenie boopers, I don't feel at home. However that new site is just weird and not right feeling. It's trying to be to many things all at once.

bullshit, they dont need any more money, they make several thousand dollars a week from gaia already just through the main cashshop and seeing as the ads are enough to support the site by themselves i call foul on them needing money

Hosting large servers like they do and paying the people to create the items, events, towns ZOMG, etc cost more than several thousands a month. So that's why I see where they are coming from.

And shop update for billions!! Not like the cheap 10g stuff. XD Other than animal crap..

Well, zomg is only on in maintenance state, so all they're paying for is server space to keep it going. That's it, nothing else.

But ads aren't enough especially with all the users that are tired of all the ads and finally started using adblock (like me)

I wished they didn't create that other site and fix gaia's website.

Me too, but I think they plan on shutting down Gaia eventually.

I always wondered if they did that would we get our money back? I paid for things. I paid over a thou$ for things on that site. And they can't just take it away. That's like if xbox didn't want to have a game anymore on arcade but you paid for it and they took it away. Could they do that?
