Lawtan 11-18-2013 01:45 AM

I am officially weirded out.

Espy 11-18-2013 01:55 AM

Like...I don't see other sites at "competition", but that might just be me...? I'm also relatively sure no one would have issues if I applied to be, say, a mod on Syndrone, which I would have if I'd actually seen the announcement on time.

Lawtan 11-18-2013 02:00 AM

*Shrugs*, my focus is get good enough to be a mod/coder/artist/writer/something.
I doubt anyone would mind, though.

HABIT 11-18-2013 04:58 AM

No, no one here would mind, it seems as if they're always looking for extra help, plus many mods/artists on here are pretty friendly with regular members so if you can get the job, I say go for it.

Monmon 11-18-2013 10:42 AM

yes o-o help us. Cause i wont be able to anymore except design some things when i have time /o__o/

Dorian Pavus 11-18-2013 03:29 PM

I like designing things! : 0

Rem 11-18-2013 11:56 PM

Oh, what's takin you away Mon, schooling?

Yokuutsu 11-19-2013 12:57 AM

Well, some could see other sites as competition due to the fact that few people have the money to donate to all avatar sites they are on so solia must "compete" with other websites for the people who donate/buy cash items.

Thank God they're nothing like Gaia...at least not yet.

(Solia does have real money items I assume)

this part of your comment is so ironically hilarious lol
(mainly because well...Solia's had $30-50 dollar money items since their inception, they were like Gaia before Gaia became like Gaia, lmao)

Yokuutsu 11-19-2013 10:42 PM

Yes, but I don't see so many ADS....and no pop ups saying BUY THIS NAO! DO IT NAO!

And no 500 dollar items yet....right?

...well actually...

ahaha i keed, sorta
for a brief while (or maybe they still do idk) they had special items that, once your accumulated donations to the site equaled $500 you could choose a special rare item as a sort of 'thank you'

I totes agree about the pop ups tho wtf is wrong with them >n>;

Mon - Euughhh man I'm sorry to hear that xP

Nexess 11-21-2013 01:27 AM

:I Well those dudes are creepy as mice with bat wings. And nah man, we're cool if peeps wanna staff on other sites as log as they aren't telling them our designs or something :I otherwise have at 'er dudes!

o___o Uh, if you guys wanna design things for us, that is totally cool but you should PM me first so I can explain a few things about designing for a website like this ok? I'm cool with it but PM first.

Lawtan 11-21-2013 03:42 PM

Very well then...
*Prepares for many PM's over the weekend*

Dorian Pavus 11-21-2013 03:46 PM

Solia has a Cash Shop banner ad at the top of the page now. ; o ;
NO. STOP. WHY.

"Go from drab to fab" Use our custom shop where you can make items any color you want with odd pattern that the staff says isn't making them money but it's atleast $1 per color & per pose for the item so The month items end up being DOUBLE the price or more depending what you do to them. Yep.
From $2.50 to $5-$10 for a monthly. nope. nope. nope. I'll pay that for a yearly, but a monthly? HA.

Also, the $500 items are going away because they are not rare anymore (to many people have them) or something? So a new shop is being put in with points you get from opening the R.I.G caps. Because people where not wasting $100's on those already.

They are becomeing Gaia faster then Gaia did, 8 0

Taiki 11-21-2013 04:02 PM

Wow every time I go there it seems worse. I used to really like Solia too. D: Will that ad go away when you donate? I know that the other ones do.

Dorian Pavus 11-21-2013 04:46 PM

I don't think so since it's for the cash shop.
I have a strict rule of not donating to them anymore so I don't know.

Yokuutsu 11-22-2013 10:52 PM

The banner ad doesn't really bother me since I don't get five billion announcement notifications like Gaia was doing saying SALE SALE! BUY CASH! OMG GIVE US ALL YOUR MONIEZ!

Holly 11-23-2013 03:05 AM

I have had a number shut down on me in the past.
; 3 ;

I'm worried about Chloria.
Though I haven't been on there in ages.
So, I'm not helping it.

I don't frequent as many as I once did. > n >;
I mostly stick to Ernya and Solia.
I should post here on Trisphee more.

Dorian Pavus 11-24-2013 04:25 PM

I'm only here, Ernya and Rolia. Thats it really. : 0
Rolia doesn't seem to be doing all that well either.

Rem 11-24-2013 09:06 PM

Menewsha, Kinsaki and Roliana were like the big 3 sites I remember bein around when Gaia was about mid-way through it's reign, I never really got into them that much but I always wondered how they did (well I did join Roliana but it's been a long long while idk if I even remember my pass lol)

Nexess 11-24-2013 11:20 PM

:I True fact? Nexy used to work with the dude who made Menewsha, she also still knows a majority of their staff because they actually managed to keep alot of their original or near original staffers.

Lawtan 11-24-2013 11:25 PM

Umm...how many Avatar/forum crashes have happened in the past? Is this perhaps a cyclical thing?

Nexess 11-25-2013 12:07 AM

Newer sites yes, places that tend to change staff alot see it more so than forums with stable staff members. It really comes down to interest in the site really, if you put out things that people like and are interested in they will stay, if not then they tend to leave. Some sites, like Tris, have a more loyal older user base, so they stay because this is where the majority of their friends hang out, or because friends here are only here and not on another site.

Lawtan 11-25-2013 12:12 AM

What I was wondering was more patterns. Perhaps it is a bit too soon, but I was wondering if there was a pattern of interest in such things...
Pirates were the rage shortly before I was around, and came back into play 12 years later...
On the other hand, Cowboys have stayed "dead"

Nexess 11-25-2013 11:24 PM

That's more of a Fad pattern. Certain kinda of items will be huge for awhile, generally cause of something pertaining to the outside world, like Pirate of the Caribbean, you could tell there was a huge want for pirate items after each of the movies came out. It's the same with futuristic things, alot of people will probably be wanting space suits and that kind of jazz since Ender's Game and Pacific Rim came out, two very popular futuristic movies coming out a few months apart are likely to start a fad like that.

Same can be said for Archery stuff now that the Hunger Games came out, along with crazy kinda of outfits, since the movies are very theatrical and do boast alot of heavily layered outfit with lavish designs.

Lawtan 11-26-2013 02:27 AM

So, make an Avatar Movie? Wait...

Taiki 11-26-2013 03:08 AM

I feel like Avatar sites like this were a much bigger deal a few years ago. But since a lot of games now adays are being released on phones that do micro transactions like what sites like this do, people expect a lot more out of us. They're used to the fact that if they get bored with a game, they can just easily find a new one. I only compare it to that because I've noticed a lot of newer users on the new site Syndrone calling the site a game when it's a forum...

Yokuutsu 11-26-2013 01:46 PM

That just shows that they don't know what a forum is since there are NO games there -.-

Espy 11-26-2013 02:50 PM

I get a bit peeved when people ask "How do I play this" when referring to Tris, but then again, those people are probably new to forum sites.

Taiki 11-26-2013 02:55 PM

Well, they may understand what a forum is but the fact that there is extras and avatars to dress up may just be misleading them as to what it really is if they're not already familiar with the concept of an "avatar site".

If Gaia actually dies out, it may in the end hurt all other avatar sites because Gaia was usually the starting place for most people because of it's size. Even if all the users went to the smaller ones at first, unless another one becomes as famous, I think it will be hard to successful for all.

Dorian Pavus 11-26-2013 03:20 PM

Wasn't Tris maded from the Ashes of Eternal Nox?
Or some of the base staff use to work there, or am I thinking of something else?

@Taiki: Solia looks like it's in the front to fill Gaia's spot once that bubble pops.

Taiki 11-26-2013 05:43 PM

I've never heard of Ashes of Eternal Nox. O: I was on staff before this site officially opened but I don't think I ever saw that mentioned. Maybe someone else would know better than me though. xD

Solia was my go to Avatar site starting August 2008 for like a year and a half. I loved the avis but something about that site rubs me the wrong way. I went back a few months ago to give away all my Gold and it was SO HARD. I don't know why. I could not find anyone online active long enough to take it.

Yokuutsu 11-26-2013 06:08 PM

If I had been active then, I would've taken it XD

Taiki 11-26-2013 06:12 PM

It took me like 3 days but I found someone to give it to. It was almost 1 million gold.

Dorian Pavus 11-26-2013 07:08 PM

Na, It was Just Eternal Nox or Nox Eternal.
Something like that.

Rem 11-26-2013 07:28 PM

Taiki - omg what was your username on there? I joined it then too and was hella active for that year, 2008-2009

Dorian Pavus 11-26-2013 08:21 PM

I'm pretty sure it was Tris or Midorea that came out of Nox. : /
I don't remember which.

Ah! I was AuronsCoke?
Was never super active but I loved the freedom of the avatars, they worked the same way Tris's do if memory serves me. It was the first site I was on that you could layer hairstyles and it made me so happy.

Midorea came out of Nox and Nox was owed by two former Zantarni users, Ebbe and a her husband Jarl, both of which have since moved on from avatar sites. Midorea was indeed created by an old staff member of theirs though.

(I know alot of people if you didn't notice :I I've been on alot of sites now...)
