"Is this still in the book, or did it spit us out?" Dark was curious. The book could have been acting in his wish to leave the book and so created an image like that of the library he had first come across the book in. Dark noticed a weight in his hand and looked down to see the book...no longer empty. It was written in and the story appeared to be what he had jjust lived through.

'i do not know only i did not create this place and i feel nothing of you in it' he said taking the book into his own hands. it all but hummed.

"So it has returned us to my realm." Dark murmered. "The first thing on our agenda is to get out of the library." Dark looked to were Alexander was standing, "You can bring the book, my house is rather close here."

he nodded. 'ok, though' he looked around confused 'i...don't know where it is' he looked confused a moment longer ' think the boo- i meant i think you should lead the way' he looked down at the tome in his hands, he had always known where to go before, something was wrong.

(I know nothing about Ireland's geography, I'm assuming there is a forest near New Ross)
"We are in Ireland near New Ross." Dark said, guessing the Alexander was confused apon leaving the book. "I live in a forest near here and I wandered across this library by accident." Dark left off there knowing Alexander knew the rest of the story. "The hardest part is leaving the library I got lost on my way in." Dark admitted sheepishly.

'then we walk until we are where we need to be' he said confidently, though it was clear enough to look in to his eyes and see that he had no more ability to find the way by luck than by cheating. he began to walk

Dark follewed Alexander, knowing well enough that Alexander had no more an idea then Dark. "Since we seemed to have returned to were I'm from, any questions?" Dark asked afraid that once Alexander was outside he would be overwhelmed by the difference in technology levels and the fact certain things were nessisary for survival like water and food.

he looked over his shoulder but did not stop 'yes, what is wrong with this place? it is dead' he meant that it did not have the lively feel of the book. i came out however sounding not at all right' where are we going?'

Dark was confised at Alexander's question for a bit then relized what he was talking about. "This world can't change it's form most of the time. We have a bunch of rules of the universe that apply here like energy cannot be created and the larger the mass the more gravity effects it." Dark would have trouble completly explaining it to Alexander but he hoped Alexander got the gist of it. "We are going to my house. I have food and other nesesities there."

he understood nothing but the last few words, he paused to let the other lead and following behind they broke through the stacks and into the front lobby. dark took them to the checkout to borrow the book but the librarian, looking at the spine, declared it not to be theirs. neither of the two questioned their good luck and left quickly into the early evening air

Dark took a deep breath of the fresh air. "Now to the house." Dark took Alexander's unoccupied hand and led him to the forest. "This is the area I live in." Dark said shyly not wanting his hermit like status to be called on. "My actual home is deep in the forest. Follow me carefully, it is easy to get lost at night." Dark then stepped into the forest following the path that was ingrained in his memory.

he followed easily, this much was familiar grounds to him, they skirted and traipsed and turned through and along an invisible path. the woods were not as beautiful alexander thought to himself, poorly exacuted wishes no doubt. he was tugged along too quickly however to try and fix the trees. as he was pulled along he noticed other things as well, the ground was uneven and here and there there were small skittering things. such an ugly wish he thought to himself.

Dark was taking note of Alexander's facial expression and he found it amusing. Dark stopped suddenly in a clearing and said, "Here it is." It was a small cabin tucked away behind a tree hiden from casual observation. The outside was unasuming and easily forgetable, but well built. Dark walked towards it and opened the door for Alexander, "After you." Dark said.

he looked at the small cotagge, it was lacking in foilage but was otherwise just right. he was happy something was done almost correctly. he took a step in and was charmed it was all ash and aged oak there was well worn quilting on chairs and stools and the single couch was plain but soft looking. he continud on through each room until he came to a small closet with a washing dish a bathtub and a ....thing. he was not sure what it was though it looked like an ugly chair with a hole on the center. he looked inside and was startled when his lord came up beside him

Dark saw Alexander looking at the toilet and came to the relization he would have to teach Alexander everything about earth. "That's a toilet." Dark said calmly after coming up behind Alexander. "In this realm we have to relive ourselves after eating so we don't end up dieing." That was the least mortifying way Dark could think of to explain a toilet's functions. Dark then steered Alexander to the kitchen so there would be for a moment no akward questions about the toilet. "This is a kitchen." Dark explained. "We have to make food to survive here, most of it is stored in a fridge or frezer until we cook it." Dark said.

'i know,' he said deadpanned 'what a kitchen is. though, what relief one would need from eating other than rest is beyond me, surly you do not intend on me sleeping in the wash cubbard?'

"No, you don't sleep in the bathroom." Dark said feeling a embassed blush about to surface. Dark suddenly got an idea and went to a bookshelf near the entrance to the kitchen. "Here," Dark said handing the book to Alexander, "This explains ah..." Dark took a deep breath, "Releaving yourself and why it is important. As for a bed you can have mine, I'll take the couch." The book Dark had just handed Alexander was an science book, slightly outdated but still had good information. "It also explains some of the simplier rules of the universe." Dark said in way of explaining th book.

he took the book and stared at it for a moment, the moment dragged on to a minute, then to three, dark was beginning to grow impatient when alexander replied 'there is nothing in it' he gave the book back

Dark was confused how could there be nothing in it? He glanced at the pages and yes they had text on them. "Okay. Let us try something else." Dark wondered if it had something to do with the fact Alexander was from a book. "Excretion is the transfer of substances out of a living organism into its environment. At its simplest, for single-cell forms of life, this involves extrusion across the cell membrane of the unwanted or potentially toxic by-products of respiration and metabolism. This is also what is happening continually in the individual cells of the animal body, but from their immediate environment substances must move into the blood to be carried away to the site of their ultimate disposal. In the animal body there is also another type of excretion: expulsion of the residue of substances which have not been absorbed into the body proper from the gut, which can be considered a tunnel through the body of the external world.

In human terms ‘excreta’ normally refers only to urine and faeces, whereas the definition of excretion would also include both carbon dioxide and heat, and these will be considered first." Dark read that straight from the book and hoped Alexander had understood that. "As you can see it is something nessisary for a healthy lifestyle." Even though he read it straight from the book Dark was still feeling slightly embarrassd.

'interesting' he took the book from the other and looked through the pages. he took the book with him to a chair and sat down with it. he began to read

Dark smiled releaved that he would not have to explain past the section he just read. "If you have any questions, aske me and I'll see if I can answer them." Dark told Alexander and then went computer hunting. He knew if Alexander was to stay they would need some more food and other supplies. He would have to order them online.

alexander sat very still in the chair he had picked out, the book was boring and tasted bad, he had only just made it through reproduction cycles and was moving on to gene splitting when he finally could take no more. 'this book is disgusting' he said 'it tastes terrible, i want a better one' he got up and handed the still open book back to dark.

Dark looked at Alexander and then at the book, "A better one?" He was still in shock from Alexander's comment on the book's taste. Dark then carefully closed it and placed the book back on the bookself and grabbed another one. Dark made a mental note that it was mostly blank and he would need to get another copy, This one was an action adventure one and would probably suite Alexander's taste pallette better. "It is the first in a series of books, if you like it let me know and I'll get the rest." The book was called The Naming and it was an okay book by Dark's standards, he just hoped Alexander would like it.

he looked at the glossy little book 'which one speaks of the cell multiplication that occurs with the zygote? that is the one i want' he smiled at the other trustingly

Dark blinked at Alexander's request, "A book on cell multiplication that occurs with the zygote?" Dark walked back over to the bookself and put The Naming back. "I don't think I have one..." Dark trailed off suddenly getting an idea. "I have a part of an older science book I can read out loud, if you would like." It had been on his computer since he had gotten his diploma. "A fellowclassmate gave it to me as a gag gift." Dark sat down at his computer then and pulled up a set of electronic documents,
"Here is a part about it, 'Biologically speaking, fertilization (or conception) is the beginning of human development. Fertilization normally occurs within several hours of ovulation, when a man’s sperm, or spermatozoon, combines with a woman’s egg, or secondary oocyte, inside a woman’s uterine tube, usually in the outer third of the uterine tube called the ampulla.

Fertilization begins with the spermatozoon contacting the cells surrounding the oocyte and ends with the mixing of the 23 male and 23 female chromosomes. The result is a single-cell embryo called a zygote, meaning 'yoked or joined together,' and it is the first cell of the human body.

The zygote, like the oocyte, is encased by its protective covering, the zona pellucida, and contains 46 unique chromosomes with the entire genetic blueprint of a new individual. Chromosomes contain tightly packed, tightly coiled molecules called DNA. Amazingly, DNA contains all the instructions needed for this single-cell embryo to develop into an adult.

The First Cell Division
The final steps in zygote formation include replication of the male and female DNA and the alignment of chromosomes in preparation for the first cell division through mitosis. The chromosomes assume a formation called a cleavage spindle, which is a phase of mitosis.

As the 2 sets of chromosomes migrate to opposite ends of the zygote, a crease begins to form along the equator marking the impending line of division. The zygote or single-cell embryo completes the first cell division approximately 24 to 30 hours after fertilization. The process of repeated cell division is called cleavage'."
Dark was highly embassed about reading that out loud but he was not sure how the computer would react to Alexander. Dark took a quick look at the book self which now contained a mostly empty book.

he sat there and listened. it was not filling in the way eating the words had been but it did mostly explain what the other book had started to explain. 'ah, thankyou. that is better. you must read to me from now on' he come over to where the other was sitting and sat on the floor, leaning his head on the other's thigh he said 'this feels so strange. i don't understand.' he tilted his head back and looked up at the other.

Dark agreed with Alexander's first statement, he did not want any more of his book's words disappearinfgbut the second statement through him for a loop. "What feeling don't you understand?" Dark asked then relized how stupid that question was, "I mean, can you dicribe this feeling? Maybe I know what it is."

he paused as if he was divulging a secret 'i...feel empty, it is so quiet here, i can't feel anything. the book was warm and full, i was surrounded by it, here all of the warmth is gone, it is quiet here.' he began to ramble 'even now, i can feel something from you, from touching you, but it is small and nowhere else has any feeling at all. i want to stay here with you but i feel so naked here' he buried his face back in dark's thigh, he did not know how to explain that he could feel no magic in this world, he could not explain how alien it felt to him to not be wrapped so fully in it.

Dark blinked at Alexander's explanation, "You can probably feel the wishes that the book creates." Dark said thinking his responce through. "Here on earth, we don't use magic or wishes." Dark was not sure which catagory the book and its power fell under, "We aren't connected to our world like you are to yours, we can't feel it or connect with it. So our world might have been like yours at some time but lack of communication killed it before my time." Dark wondered where he was getting this from, it sounded crazy to his own ears. "So our world is dead in a sense while yours is alive. Ours can't chenge itself because so many people made themselves work for everything."

he listened intently to the other, a small frown on his face. 'how terrible' he mumbled into the boy's leg. he got to his knees and angled himself to look at the other, turning the swily chair he put his hands to either side of it and looked up at the other. 'what can we do?'

Dark was lost and voiced his thoughts, "I don't know I've never reawakened a world before." That was true, he had not even relized the world's could be alive until he had stumbled into Alexander's. "And it might've been to long since anyone tried to contact earth that she might have forgotten how to talk with us; just as we have forgotten how to talk with her."

he sighed his disappointment, a pregnant whoosh of unasked, unaskable now, questions. he dropped his head into the others lap and taking his hands from the chair and threading them together around dark's back. he stayed in that position for several minutes. he sighed and still buried in the others legs he said into the fabric 'then all i have now is you'

Dark felt sadness with Alexander, Alexander was used to a living world and humans had created a dead one from lack of care. DArk suddenly fell out of his musings as Alexander buried his head in Darks legs. The situation was forign to Dark but not entirely unwelcomed. "I know of a place that might feel more unlive then most of the world," Dark said suddenly remembering the place he had visted as a child. "It is further in the forest and it always provided for me whatever I needed." Dark remembered the place well, it was a clearing that was lined by brambles and current bushes. It also had a waterfall coming from the shear rock wall.

'could we go today?' he asked looking up and staring hopefully out the darkening window. 'or must the witching hour pass?' he yawned.

"Witching Hour?" Dark asked, "What is that?" Then he remembered the faries that had chased him and Alexander. "Nevermind, I think I remember and earth doesn't have a witching hour. But yu shouldn't go into the forest at night, lest you wake something that desides you make a tasty snack."

he looked plaintively out the windowed, yawned then looked again. he went back to his earlier position of face-down in the others lap. he was not please with this turn of events but the other was comforting in his own way, the flicker of his world still rested within this beautiful soul. he was however at a loss, he was frustrated, bored, lonely, his head hurt and he was tired. he untangled his fingers and stuck them up the back of dark's shirt.he ran his fingers up and down the boy's spine.

Dark shivered at Alexander's touch and tried to distract himself. "Would you... like to have diner... or um... go to bed?" Dark found that ALexander's actions where very distracting making it hard to form much along the path of coherant speach.

he stopped what he was doing and looked back up, 'what is wrong?'

Dark smiled at Alexander and made up a exuse that sounded fake to his own ears, "Your hands were cold and they surprised me." He could literally hear the lie fall over and die.

'i see' he took his hands away. 'i think, i would like this chapter to not end so soon, we should eat.' he pretended he did not see relief in the others' eyes, since he did not know what the boy had to be relieved about he had no reason to assume it was an error on his part. he rose to his feet and took dark's hand, it was a question as much as it was an offer to help
