"Well I thought he would be fine, I didn't know he was gonna break down like this its never happened before." She said so only Solomon could hear her.
Holden looked to Solomon and nodded. "Oh her." She said in a low tone again. Holden stopped shaking when Solomon left the room. "Holden, I want you to go to England with Solomon. And I want you to go to school for art, because you love it and I hear its very therapeutic." Steven said looking at Alicia. Alicia was listening to what was going on in the hallway. She blocked the sound of the woman slamming into the wall from Holden and Steven. Holden got up off of the bed and walked over to Alicia. "You just did something, what did you do?" Holden asked in a whisper. "I didn't do anything Holden, trust me ok." She whispered back. Holden looked at his father, "As long as you divorce that bitch I will go to England." He said. His eyes looked black. "She has, but the only way to get around the rule is to turn him Solomon. You know that." She said with a sigh. "Solomon you might wanna get in here." She said slightly surprised. "No Holden your going weather or not I divorce her." Steven said looking at Holden. "No dad if you don't divorce her I will kill her. I'm done being scared, thinking that if I come home late I will get hit with a lamp, or the frying pan. I'm sick of it dad I wanna live my life. Possibly get married to the man I love adopt a few kids, I deserve it. Now tell me you are divorcing her or I'm gonna go kill her." Holden said with a fire in his eyes. |
"You handle it Alicia, I've got a lot to think about here.." He stood, noticing the conversation had taken a drastic turn. With a sigh, he used the key to enter the room, his arms crossing after placing the key in his vest pocket, "Holden." His tone was stern, as his expression. "As disgusting as your mother is, you can't just go and say you're going to kill her.. Let Alicia and I handle this the proper way." "Even though that also involves killing her..but we'll make it look like she just had a stroke or something."
He came over, placing a hand on Holden's shoulder, a calming feeling slowly and discretely taking hold. He knew he was going to regret this, as Holden would call him out on it once his father was gone, "You've had a long day Holden, you should really calm down." He looked to Alicia, addressing her earlier statement finally, "I will not turn him...He's highly unstable psychologically speaking..I'm afraid it might 'amp up' some of his..aggressive qualities..If I can convince her that he'll keep it to himself, perhaps they'll let me get around it. I don't know..." His face was mildly distressed as his conversation with Alica went on. He quickly wiped the expression from his face, "And I told you, Holden; Chaos and the likes are my duties..just let me handle it." |
Holden jumped when he heard Solomon somewhat yell at him. "The proper way you are talking about is going to the police, and if they can't prove anything she will be out on the streets." He said looking Solomon dead in the eyes.
"It does." Alicia said not moving her eyes from Holden. Holden felt himself calming down. He knew what Solomon was doing but he didn't wanna say anything in front of his dad. "Your right Solomon I'm sorry." He said giving him a hug. "I know what you did." He said whispering in Solomon's ear. "Dad I would like to go to bed its late, I will see you tomorrow." Holden said as he hugged his dad. "Of course Holden. I will stop by tomorrow." Steven said hugging him back. Steve stood up and went to the door. "Bye Solomon and Alicia, take care of him for me." He said as he left the room. "I don't think she will. She is a cutthroat bitch. You know that your older than me." She said waving to Steven. Holden waited until his dad was far enough away. "You two have been doing stuff behind my back." Holden said putting his hand on his hip. "If these relationships are going to work you can't use your powers on me. Making me calmer, blocking sounds from me, putting me to sleep." Holden said looking at Solomon and biting his lip. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go off like that today." He said as he gave Alicia a hug. He went over to Solomon and gave him a hug as well as give him a powerfully passionate kiss. |
Solomon sighed, "I know Holden..but I have to." He led Steve tot he door, "Here, just give a call before you come by just to make sure we're here." He pulled a card from his pocket, handing it to Steve. He smiled a bit, shutting the door and heading back into the main room.
He let out a sigh, running his hand through his hair, "I won't do it again unless absolutely necessary." He was caught a bit off-guard at the kiss, but quickly regained composure, returning the kiss for a moment before breaking it. It felt slightly odd with Alicia there, "And as for your rather obnoxious rant about your mother..I never said we're going to the police. She's got a lot more to worry about than the law catching up to her. Like I told you, I hate law." |
"I know you do, but that was for my father." Holden said crossing his arms. "Now do vampires sleep?" He said looking at Alicia.
"We do but not as long as human's." Alicia said feeling a little weird. "Well then." Holden said as he went to the bathroom. When Holden was in the bathroom Alicia looked at Solomon. "That kiss was a little more like him." She said so only Solomon could hear her. "Crap." She said looking over by the door. "Hi dad." "Alicia Winters how dare you expose our family?" Her dad asked. "I... I'm sorry dad." Alicia said looking down at the floor. "You should be sorry Jaclynn has been yelling at me all night because of you. You know your gonna have to kill him." He said looking upset. "I know dad." She said looking down at the floor. Holden was cleaning up in the bathroom. He walked out and saw Alicia's dad. "Oh hello Mr. Winters." Holden said quickly covering his topless self. "Hello young man, you know how to cause trouble don't you?" He asked. "I'm not sure what you mean sir." Holden said putting on his shirt. "Well let's see, having an ambulance called to your house. Having a mental breakdown, and getting yourself killed." He said while thinking of more things to say. "Daddy!" Alicia said a little angry. "What do you mean getting myself killed?" Holden asked looking to Alicia. |
Solomon sighed, speaking in low tones to Alicia, "But he's st--" He turned, smelling another vampire. He narrowed his eyes seeing it was Alicia's father. He peered over as Holden came from the bathroom, eying him up quick before turning his attention back to Mr. Winters. "If you're only here to restate what Jaclynn's told us, you can just help your skinny ass back to your house. I don't need to hear it from you."
He somewhat casually moved to in front of Holden, blocking the man's path, "If I were you Mr. Winters, I'd watch your tongue in front of me." He kept his hands deep in his pockets, watching the man with a slightly bored expression. |
Mr. Winters smelled the air. "Oh boy you don't know who your dealing with, what are you 550 years? I have over 200 years on you boy. Now you have twenty four hours to kill him or I will." He said as he teleported away.
"What does he mean by kill me?" Holden asked stepping away from Solomon. |
"But you cannot match my power Joesph..." he said telepathically to him after he left. He looked to Holden, "Don't worry about it." He leaned on the closest wall, crossing his arms over his chest and closing his eyes. His lips barely moved as he spoke to Alicia in low tones, "You know, if Joesph lays a finger on Holden, I will not hesitate to kill him...or anyone who interferes. Including you if you try to defend your father." He sighed, running a hand through his hair, "What a fucking mess."
|
"I could never kill Holden, he is the brother I never had. My dad is just pissed, he likes Holden to. He feels bad for him for what his mother has done." She said sitting in the chair. "It is a mess but I cannot kill Holden, there has to be away to change the council's mind." She rubbed her temples knowing that Holden was not gonna forget about it.
Holden walked so he was in front of Solomon. "Your lying to me Solomon. There is something wrong and your not telling me, I understand that we only met a few hours ago but something is wrong. And you," He said looking to Alicia. "You said we would never keep secrets from each other, I never did, but you did and you are now." Holden said slightly disappointed. |
Solomon cracked open an eye to look at Holden, "Just trust me on this. It's really not a big issue Holden." He smiled a bit, "They're just angry that I've told you about us. It'll blow over soon."
|
"Are you sure that's all?" Holden asked with a sigh. He ran his fingers through his hair. He looked at Alicia, "Give me your keys, please." He said putting out his hand.
"Why?" She asked a little surprised. "Because I don't know where my car is, and I wanna get out." He said. "You can't go anywhere." She said standing up. "Please just give me the damn keys, you owe me at least a half hour." He said looking her in the eyes. "Fine but I'm going with you." She said grabbing her keys out of her pocket. "No, you two stay here. I'm pretty sure you two have my brain low jacked anyway." He said grabbing the keys. He went to the door. "If I see either of you, I will be pissed." He said as he walked out the door. |
Solomon didn't argue. Holden was right, he was monitoring Holden's mind since they met back at the cafe. "You know I'm going to be following him. I will not risk him being attacked because of his crab-ass behavior." He would wait until Holden has stopped before teleporting. "I wonder what he's up to."
Suddenly, the dark haired woman known as Jaclynn appeared. She narrowed her red eyes, "I know what you two are planning and I can't allow it. Either kill him, fix his memories, or turn him. You have until midnight or I will take care of him." She looked to Alicia, "I mean it." |
"I was gonna do the same thing." She said with a nod. "I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid." She said as she looked a Jaclynn. "Altering memories is wrong, especially to a person that will keep the secret." She said putting her hands on her waist.
Holden pulled into the driveway, and parked the car. "So this is where the bitch is." He said as he walked into the hospital. He stopped at the nurses station. "Where is Evelin Evans?" He asked with a smile. "She is in room S285. And you are?" The nurse asked cocking her head. "I'm her son Holden Evans." He said as he went to her room. He walked until he found her room. He took a deep breath and entered the room. "Hello mother." He said as he walked around the corner. "Wha... What are you doing here?" She asked worried. "I'm here to talk." He said with an evil smile. "About what?" She asked nervous. "About how much of a bitch you are. And how you will no longer rule over my life." Holden said getting closer to the bed. "I don't know what you are talking about." She said leaning away from Holden. "Oh yes you do. Two slaps, a lamp, a frying pan, pushing me down the stairs, and I don't know what the last one is because I was unconscious. Those ring any bells?" He said, his eyes black. "I still don't know what you mean." She said very scared now. "That's bullshit, you know what I am talking about. Now what the fuck did you do to me to make me go into a coma for two weeks?" He said grabbing the railing on the bed. "If you don't tell me I will kill you." He said still having a evil grin on his face. "I hit you with a hammer." She said starting to cry. "Ah that's very good mother thank you for telling me, now tell me how would you like to die?" He asked in her ear. "No, don't I'm sorry." She said trying to get a nurse. "Oh if you were sorry you wouldn't of done those things in the first place. Now let's see." He said looking around for something. "Ah here we go." He said picking up a syringe. He pulled the plunger back to draw air into it, he grabbed his mom's IV and put the needle into the IV. "No, you know what mother I'm not going to give you the satisfaction." He said pulling the needle out of her IV. He put the syringe into the bio-waste container. "Adieu mother." He said waving as he went out the door. "Well I feel cleansed." He said as he went back to the car. He got to the car and got in. |
Solomon stood when he noticed that Holden had stopped moving, "He's at the hospital." He disappeared, appearing in the corner, Holden's back facing him. He quickly snuck behind the curtain, putting his finger to his lips in case Evelin saw him. He knew what Holden was going to do, and would interfere if necessary. He waited until Holden was out of the hospital, then stepped out. He didn't have long.
He went over to Evelin, examining her vitals quick, "I'd say you'll be released tonight or tomorrow. You're doing quite well. I was hoping I pushed you harder, but I guess I failed to break your neck." He leaned over her, a charming smile on his face, "How do you like being pushed down the stairs? Not very fun, right?" He waved, quickly teleporting to the hotel room before Holden could turn the block of the building. He shook his head, "He was really going to do it..but luckily, he changed his mind at the last minute. From now on, he's not allowed to leave our sights. Understand Alicia?" |
Evelin was crying after Holden left. Then Solomon showed up. "Please no more." She said as Solomon disappeared. "NURSE!" She yelled crying.
"Whats wrong Mrs. Evans?" The nurse asked running into the room. "I don't want anymore visitors." She said crying into her hands. Alicia sighed when Solomon came back. "I helped him change his mind." She said rubbing her eye's. "I know, I feel bad doing that to him but it needs to be done." She said still rubbing her eyes. "Where are you going Holden?" She said in a whisper. Holden turned left into a driveway. "Home sweet home." He said seeing that his dad's bedroom light was still on. "Your up late dad." Holden said getting out of the car. He went up to the door and unlocked it. He entered turning off the alarm. He went to the stairs, he stopped when he saw some blood on the floor. "Well its not mine." He said with a little smile as he started up the stairs. He went into his room and turned on the light. "Hmm what do I want." He said looking around. He grabbed a suitcase of clothing and his painting portfolio, as well as his painting supplies. He shut off his light and went down the stairs. He turned on the alarm and went out the door. He opened the trunk and put his stuff in. He got in the car and started on his way back to the hotel. |
"He's grabbing his things? I told him I would help him with that.." He repositioned himself on the wall, crossing his arms and closing his eyes. "When she returns home, I will be paying Evelin a final visit. I know you want to come, but you need to make sure he doesn't wake up when I leave."
Solomon sighed deeply, "I would love to just tear her to shreds and throw her body parts in a river...but..I'm in enough trouble as it is." |
"He's stubborn, and I think he wants to paint. Plus possibly shower wink, wink." She said crossing her legs. "Hey don't look at me like that." She said with a giggle. "I wont go anywhere, but before you go look at his paintings they are really beautiful." She said thinking of Holden's paintings. "Plus they would be found and Holden would know you did it." She said leaning back in the chair.
Holden pulled into the hotel parking lot. "Hm, what to paint." He said getting out of the car. He opened the trunk and grabbed his stuff. He started into the hotel. |
He nodded, "Another time perhaps. I will be sure to hit her once for you though. She definitely deserves it." He looked down to where the front door is located on the first floor, "Well, that was quick. You can leave if you have things to do, especially dealing with your father..."
|
"Thank you, and I don't wanna go home but I should to get clothes, cause I'm going with you to England." She said with a smile.
Holden hummed in the elevator. He was actually very chipper for being up for almost twenty four hours. The elevator got to the third floor he walked out. He walked up to the door and knocked. |
Solomon opened his eyes, a bit confused, "Since when? I don't recall us dis-" He looked to the door, using his telekinesis to turn the knob and pull it open, "Welcome back Holden." He looked back to Alicia "You would think that's something to talk to me about." He narrowed his eyes a bit, "You're responsible for finding your own house, and way to pay for your needs. Understand?"
|
"I already got it all worked out." She said with a smile.
Holden smiled brightly at Solomon. "Thank you." He said as he walked in the room. He shut the door and put his stuff on the bed. "I know you were at the hospital Solomon, I saw your shoes under the curtain." He said grabbing out his easel and setting it on the bed. "Did you hear what she hit me with to put me in a coma for two weeks?" He asked not looking up from his stuff. "I know you do Alicia." Holden said setting up his easel. He grabbed his painting supplies. |
Solomon shrugged, "I don't recall being there lately." He glanced to Holden as he unpacked, "I know what she hit you with from my link with you." He closed his eyes again, leaning his head against the wall. "I was told to stay here." "I still don't think you should come Alicia."
|
"Your lying Solomon." Holden said as he sat down on the bed. He sighed, "Sit Solomon." He said pointing to the chair in front him. Holden waited for Solomon. He mixed his colors while waiting.
"Holden is gonna need all the help he can get, and I can help him." She said looking at Holden. "You better do what he asks because he wont stop bothering you." She said getting up to grab some water so Holden can rinse his brushes. |
"I am not a dog, Holden." He remained a slight scowl on his face, "So don't take that tone with me." He sighed, opening his eyes as he looked at Holden, "He can see me clearly from here..he can paint me from right here if he wants." It was obvious something was bothering Solomon, but whether or not he'd elaborate if asked was not so clear. After a moment, he stood, "I'll be back..." And he walked out, taking his crabby attitude with him.
|
"I didn't say it with a tone." Holden said still mixing his paint.
"He likes to see the lines in peoples face, and he can't see that from way over here." Alicia said bringing the glass of water to Holden. "Just don't kill my mother yet." Holden said as Solomon left. "Alicia sit." He said pointing to the chair. "Solomon's right Holden he isn't a dog and neither am I. What is wrong with you? You seem off." Alicia said putting her hands on her hips. "Nothing's wrong, I just want to paint." Holden said still not looking up. "Well paint a scene, or something. You don't have to treat me and Solomon like animals." She said a little insulted. "I'm not treating you two like animals, if anyone is an animal its me." He said looking at the blank canvas. "What do you mean by that Holden?" She asked sitting on the bed. "I know you were watching, I was about to kill her. I didn't wanna stoop to her level." Holden said looking at Alicia slightly. "I was and you didn't. You are a better person than she is, hell me and Solomon are vampires and we are better than her." She said giving him a hug. Holden hugged her back. "I felt better after I told her off like that but now I feel bad about it. Why is that?" Holden asked finally looking Alicia in the eyes. "Its because you have that kind of heart, do you remember the last fight we had? It was my fault and you were the one who apologized about twenty minutes later." She said rubbing his back. "Ya I do remember, that was as much my fault as it was yours." Holden said with a smile. "Tell me the truth was Solomon at the hospital when I was there?" He asked grabbing her hands. "Yes he was but he was worried that you were gonna kill her. That's something you can't deal with yet." She said standing up. "I will sit there while you paint but you have to ask nicely." Alicia said walking to the chair. "Ok, will you please sit in the chair so I can paint you." He said with a smile. "We need to work on that but it will do for now." She said with a smile as she sat down. Holden smiled, and started to paint. |
After quite a few hours, Solomon still had not returned. It wasn't until about 9 am the next day that he finally entered the room. He noticed that Holden was now sleeping on the bed, most likely because Alicia told him he had to. He sighed, closing the door quietly and sitting down silently in a chair.
|
"Took you awhile to come back." Alicia said coming from the bathroom. She went around the corner and grabbed and envelope and a piece of paper. "This is from Holden." She said handing him the envelope and paper. She went to sit in the other chair.
|
"I'm sorry..I've been trying to fix this mess with Holden. I've managed to get them to reconsider killing him. They will wait..although I'm not sure how long. By that time, we'll be long gone and their word has no effect over us." He tilted his head as she handed him the envelope, "What's this? From Holden?" He quietly peeled open the envelop, reading the text.
|
The letter read:
Solomon, I'm sorry for acting that way last night. I just don't know why I wasn't able to pull the trigger on her. Actually I do, it’s because I have a good heart. Well at least that's what Alicia says. I know you were there at the hospital, I’m not mad at you. In fact if I did inject the air into her IV she would be dead and you wouldn’t look at me the same way ever again. I could not live with that, you mean a lot to me. I know the past twenty four hours have been bad, I know they aren’t what I had in mind. I also want you to know that even though I went crazy, you kept me sane. You are a great man, I would understand if you wanted to move on to find someone who isn’t damaged. You deserve more than a rich kid who has mommy issues. Whatever you decide I will respect you no matter what. Sincerely, ~H P.S.: This picture I painted is what you bring into my life. Alicia nodded as she went to sit in the other chair. She already read the letter so she knew what it said. She was proud of Holden he said his feelings and that he would let Solomon go if he wanted to. She sat there with a smile as he read the letter. |
Solomon sighed over the letter, setting it on the end table, "He thinks I would just up and leave after one bad day? I'm insulted." Yet, he could not wipe the smile from his face as he looked at the small painting. "He's very talented." He set it aside, "How long as he been asleep?"
|
"Don't be, he's just that way. He did the same thing to me when I found out about the abuse." She said with a sigh. "I told you he was, but you haven't seen anything yet." She said as she went to grab his portfolio. "About three and a half hours. He wanted to finish that picture for you." She said picking up Holden's portfolio. "You need to see what he has done." She said handing him the portfolio.
|
"Perhaps I can talk to my artist friend in London. He might be able to help Holden." He set the portfolio aside with a smile. He crossed his left leg over his right and folded his hands in his lap, "While I was out, I booked us a flight for 3pm today, and uh..took care of Evelin.."
Suddenly he jumped a bit, his phone vibrated in his pocket, "Ah, that's probably Steve now." He answered the phone, "Hello?" |
"I'm sure Holden would like that." She said with a smile. "Ok, you... YOU!," she stopped for a second. "You killed her? Did you at least hit her for me?" She asked looking at Holden to make sure he was still sleeping.
"Hey Solomon, it's me Steven. Evelin's dead the doctors say it was a brain aneurysm. Don't tell Holden I will come over and tell him myself when I find a sitter." Steven said with a sigh. "I should be over in about thirty minutes. I will see you then." He said as he hung up. |
Solomon flipped the phone shut, "Oh I did, right upside the face with the bed pan." He smiled, looking over to Holden, "Go keep an eye out for his father..he's on his way." He stood, gently sitting on the edge of the bed, placing his hand tenderly on Holden's shoulder "Holden..Holden wake up.."
|
"Well thank you for that. Ok i will tell you when he gets here." She said grabbing the room key and heading out the door.
"Hm?" Holden groaned. He sprang open his eyes, "Solomon what are you doing here?" Holden asked rubbing his eyes. He sat up, "Oh ya that's right I'm in a hotel." Holden said looking at Solomon. "Did Alicia give you my letter and painting?" He asked still waking up. |
He nodded, "Yes, now I don't mean to rush you, but your father is on his way. He sounded distressed. You should get some fresh clothes on." He helped Holden sit upright, "You have amazing pieces of work Holden. Perhaps I'll talk to a few of my friends in London. Oh, we leave at 3pm today. Luckily, you're already packed."
|
"Ok." Holden said rubbing his head. "Thank you for saying that." He said as he gave Solomon a hug. Holden smiled, as he turned to the bathroom. "You wanna join me for a shower?" Holden said with a wink.
|
Solomon nearly jumped, "Do you have to ask~" He quickly stood and skittered over, kissing Holden' on the neck, "It's rhetorical really." He gently pushed Holden into the bathroom, closing the door.
|
"Well at least someone's getting some." Alicia said watching for Steven. Steven pulled up about ten minutes later. Alicia sighed, "You two might wanna hurry up Mr. Evans just arrived." She said waving at Steven.
"Hello Alicia." Steven said with a smile. "Hello Mr. Evans. Holden is in the shower did you have breakfast yet?" She asked as she gave him a hug. "You can call me Steven, and no I haven't." He said hugging her back. "Ok Steven, let's get you some food. And don't let me forget to bring some up for Holden." She said gently grabbing Steven's arm. She led him to the dining room. *** Holden walked out of the bathroom with a big smile on his face. "Well that was an invigorating shower, don't you think?" Holden asked as he put his pants on. Holden walked over to Solomon and gave him a kiss. "I'm gonna need a cigarette from you." He said with a wink. "Finally you two are done." Alicia said with a slight smile. "Mr... Steven I think Holden is out of the shower, I'm gonna go make him a plate and then we can go up and you can tell him about Evelin." She said as she stood up. |
Solomon grinned, pulling Holden close giving a rather intense kiss back, "Indeed it was." He gave him another quick kiss before letting him go and pulling on his clothes. He held his hand in front of him a ball of brown and tan..stuff appeared hovering above his palm. With a disgusted look, he dropped it in the sink and washed it away. He took a breath, at least he didn't smell like he wore those clothes almost three days now. They weren't fresh, but they were tolerable.
Solomon lifted his tie from the floor, shaking it out and quickly working to tie it, "So Alicia will be coming with us, but she's already arranged for her own living quarters. I know you're alright with it, but I thought I'd tell you anyway." He smiled pulling on the knot and tightening the tie around his neck. and ticking it into his vest. |
