SILVER!

It shot off like an alarm and he started to struggle and back up.

"Its okay!"

It was the boy from the lab - his long hair was spilling around him and for some reason he was wearing clothing now... a striped shirt and a pair of white pants. A prisoner's uniform... Red recognized it from when they would bring in new children from the jails of the rumored 'nearby city'.

He got a good look at the other for the first time, eyes darting all over as he took everything in. Long black hair, spilling past his waist... pale skin and soft features - almost Asian in appearance. He was fairly tall... and those eyes...!

No one in The Facility had silver eyes, save for LiSen and even he only had one. It was something that only the Silvers (as Kayen called them) had... who was this kid?

"Who- ow!" Red reached up and touched his head- feeling the cut on the side of his forehead.

"You're hurt..." The dark-haired boy whispered, slowly reaching toward him, before he thought better and pulled his hand away. "Your friend... the one with hair similar to mine... he is hurt too."

"Huh?" The redhead blinked before he sat up sharply. "LiSen!?"

"Careful," The other warned. "Don't sit up too-"

He paused as he realized where Red had been, there was suddenly no-one.

"Don't get so damned close!" Denum was snapping behind the tall boy.

"Lee!" Red called worriedly.

Turning, the dark-haired boy got up and moved closer.

"Calm down, it's not too bad," Aireio snorted.

"It's just my leg," LiSen assured, motioning to his leg - which had several thick cuts on it. "And it wasn't even from the crash... some thing found me while we were out and tried to drag me off... He saved me."

He nodded to the boy who stood behind Red, watching curiously.

Red blinked and turned back to the tall boy.

"This place is full of things looking to make us a meal." Denum muttered as he bandaged LiSen's leg. "Is anyone else hurt?"

"We're all here," Aireio snorted. "Actually, I'm surprised none of us were killed. That thing pretty much exploded into little bits... why didn't we?"

The boy looked back at Red, meeting his eyes with an unreadable expression.

"...Can you see?" Red frowned- tilting his head.

"What do you mean?" He asked, tilting his head as well. "You know I can see. You saw through my eyes."

Through your eyes?" Red frowned before his eyes shot wide. "You were sending me visions...you were in my head! How did you do that!?"

"You must be something special," Aireio mumbled. "Not even Kayen had silver eyes... who are you?"

"They call me Q," The boy informed.

"...Q?" LiSen repeated, before wincing as Denum pulled the bandages a little too tight. He gave the other a pleading look.

"Q," 'Q' confirmed.

"Who are you, 'Q'?" Aireio pressed.

"I don't want you to bleed out." Denum told LiSen. "If you start going numb, let me know."

"What the hell was that thing that blew up the lab!?" Red asked the taller boy, moving up on him- almost threateningly, but falling short- he really didn't feel at all compelled to harm this person, whoever he was. "Back there when we sprung you...I've never seen anything like that before."

"That was Luda," Q informed - ignoring Aireio completely. "I am told he is my brother. We share the same mother."

"That was what that scientist dude was saying," Aireio confirmed, frowning.

"That was Alec Voskov, one of the head scientists," LiSen informed. "I had a few talks with him because of my eye. He... was actually very nice. I couldn't bring myself to hate him, even though he's the reason we're all here."

"Right, I remember him." Red frowned- shaking his head to clear it. "He...he was there for the treatments...back when we got the first injections...he was helping the kids that got sick."

"All the powerful ones." Denum snorted. "Anyone that didn't get sick never developed."

"Why didn't we ever see you there?" Aireio pressed, but Q ignored her, looking back through the trees.

"There are people coming," He informed. "Men with weapons. Fifteen of them, followed by several more groups."

"We need to move," LiSen breathed. His sister moved to kneel beside him and he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. Getting up, she lifted him onto her back with ease, careful of his leg. "Denum, can you give us a cover?"

"I doubt it... he doesn't know the forest well enough to know what kind of plants are normal," Aireio pointed out.

"They have heat scanners," Q informed. "Cloaking wouldn't work."

"I can...I can hold 'em off." Denum said with a nod- looking less that confident.

"You don't stand a chance, someone would have to stand back to give you time to get out." Red shook his head. "I'll distract them and then catch up."

"That sounds the most plausible, as much as I hate to admit it," Aireio groaned. "You are the best fighter... but which direction do we go?"

"Just pick one!" LiSen squeaked. "They're getting close - I can hear them now!"

Nodding, Aireio took Denum's hand and started off through the trees. To Red's surprise, Q did not follow them.

"...What the hell are you standing around for?" Red frowned up at the other boy. "Get the hell outta here!"

He turned as he caught the murmur in the thicket. They knew they were right on top of them.

Stun lasers started flying in from all directions and Red stared in awe as they stopped about ten feet from he and Q, hovering in place, as if a wall was blocking them.

He had never seen anyone stop a laser before... it was why the guards used them - it was supposed to be impossible.

The lights flickered and died out and as Red turned, he realized that Q had one hand raised... had he stopped them!?

"...How in the he-" Red began in surprise before a large vehicle crashed throw the brush at them.

The redhead dove and scooped Q up, flashing some good yards away before setting Q back down and turning on their attackers.

"They're destroying plants," Q commented, not seeming to mind the speed Red had dragged him at. He turned back toward their attackers as well.

"Fuck the plants, we gotta keep them from destroying us!" Red snapped.

"...What does 'fuck' mean?" Q asked, not seeming the least bit worried.

"Huh!?" More shots were fired at them- making Red fall back in surprise.

"You told me to fuck the plants," Q informed, calmly, as he lifted a hand and a wall went up, blocking the shots. "What does 'fuck' mean?"

"Seriously man!" Red snapped- getting to his feet. "Will you focus on the task at hand!? We're being shot at!"

"Would it make you happier if I focused on the task at hand?" Q asked, tilting his head. "You appear to be unhappy, Tobias."

"I'd- what?" Red's fire vanished immediately at the mention of his birth name- one that even his closest friends didn't know.

Even as the shots went off around them and the tank swerved over, he could only stand and start at the other boy in total shock- his mouth slightly ajar and his eyes large and confused.

Q's eyes were locked with him for what felt like forever, before the boy suddenly turned and in a wave that even Red felt, the guns and tank all went dead.

Q shot forward, past the invisible shields, and crashed into one of the guards. The man went flying back at the brute strength and Q moved on to the next, dancing around as if he were as light as a feather. He knocked guard after guard down with ease.

He came up to the tank and paused in front of it, as if contemplating what to do with it. After a moment he hopped up and pried the top off, pulling the guard out.

"Can you please tell me what 'fuck' means?" The boy asked.

"Wow!" Red burst after a stunned moment. "Hey! What the hell did you...time to go!"

"Its alright, I'll ask later," Q assured the guard, before setting him back down - rather gently - and following after Red.

Red reached back and grabbed Q's wrist pulling him along as he flashed forward- the forest blurring around them as he moved. He had to find the others, but which way exactly had they gone? It was so easy to get separated, lost or even ambushed out in all this forest. Red was also a bit stricken by that too. Here was, out in the forest with deadly plants, canopy that shaded them from the sun and some of the most lush and beautiful greenery he'd ever seen. Colors he hadn't thought possible jumped out at him and the air was so fresh and clean. This was a whole other world compared to the facility. The world of the Silvers.

"Head more left," He heard Q as clear as day - he'd spoken in his mind, then.

Red tripped and they spilled over- rolling down a steep hill until the redhead hit the smooth surface of a rock and barreled over the edge of some coastal cliff. He managed to snap out and grab the lip of the large stone jutting out like a balcony overlooking the crashing waves far below. He stared down at the raging waters beneath him with mingled terror- at almost falling to his death -and total awe. This was the first time he could remember ever seeing the ocean in person- smelling that salt water and watching the waves rock back and fourth against the jagged rocks below. How could he think of all that right now?

"I told you to take a left," Q commented a few feet above him, hanging off of a long root that stuck out of the side of the cliff.

He hooked his feet around the top and hung up-side down, reaching down for Red.

Red reached up and took Q's hand.

"I felt like seeing the ocean!" Red said over the loudly crashing waters below.

Holding Red with one hand, Q grabbed the root with his other one and hauled the other up with difficulty - more because of the awkward position then the other's weight.

"I haven't seen it in a long time," He admitted as they both sat, looking down. "But I did not want to see it this way.
