and some items loose their parts when you dye them and dye is only good for one items and if you buy the same color twice you are boned

The only site I've had experience with besides Tris is gaia. I'm still fairly regular there, but I don't know how much longer it will last. I'm guessing it's not in danger of closing down, since people still seem to be buying the outrageously priced pixels. I don't think there is much left in the way of community left though, so I'm not on as much as I was.

So, really donate there. I post on Rolia, here, Mido & Ernya; and I look in on Celainia (Owner's been gone for a year now?), Varus (No update for 10 months), and Zantarni hoping they pick up. Zanta had really good items at one point. ; n ;

I've worked as an artist at a lot of avatar sites, I was head artist for one and even try'd starting my own. It's a lot of work and your depending on everyone to do their job and that doesn't always happen. : x
People lose interest, bale on you (I've been guilty of that myself) or just screw you over in the worst ways. bleh.

I had all the art ready for mine, I just could never get someone to code for me which was a shame. I had a lot of ideas for a HIGHLY RP intensive site (I'm not sure if people want that... > 3 > ) but it won't happen at this point. I don't have the time or money to pull it off now.

Well, with Crysandrea it was something to do with users abusing a glitch and corrupting things beyond all repair, right? Or something like that...
Other sites, don't know, but at least a few were really poorly-run IMO and thus I wasn't surprised. But there are usually all kinds of reasons that just add up. It takes a lot to keep a site going, particularly one that requires so many different elements running in a timely manner.

I was going to go back to Solia and try to stick around since there's a few ppl over there that are long-time friends where Solia's literally the only freakin place I can contact them ...tumblr phobic bastards pft... but literally the day I returned I saw some of the same b.s. that sent me packing the first time and I was like

What happened on solia? -no clue- I'm never on there really.

I know that a couple of months ago Solia and Syndrone released the SAME SET OF ITEMS. Apparently they were from the same designer who submitted them to item design contests. I don't think Solia ever posted about it or brought it up which led to Syndrone taking it down on their site. I don't think anyone on Solia even noticed or heard about it.

Solia did know. Syndrone contacted them about it....but I was told it was on the other website before Syndrone.

That's not Solia's fault though. That is the person who couldn't read rules's fault. It becomes the property of the website once you enter it, and they entered it in two places like that -.-

Which now Syndrone is no longer doing user items thanks to that person (and I want some actual bunny ears dammit)

Yeah, I was actually quite disappointed about that.

Which, personally, if it was up to me, I think the user should have at least been banned from any future contests like that (it isn't that hard to label whatever you're entering as Solia or Syndrone)

It's disappointing because I got the item on syndrone...and I dislike the replacement to say the least....and I won't be able to get the item on Solia...and I probably wouldn't like it there as much because I don't like their avatars as much -shrugs-

The specific incident was a group of long time users ganging up on a relatively new user unnecessarily for doing something they didn't like. And that's become more common over the years. But what made me leave the first time was certain admin behaviors...let's just say that when I joined the site in 2008 I loved it, but my respect for the people that run it and many of the longtime users has dropped slowly over the years. It's reputation isn't wholly unearned in my opinion.

And that Syn thing made me really sad too, I love item contests ;n;

I was really into Solia for a while when I left Gaia. I can't get into it at all anymore though.

Well, I joined in like 2011 and I've never really gotten into it though....considering Crysandrea has shut down, so has Elidiun (again), and lunaesaga...no idea what's going on there...it was supposed to come back but hasn't to my knowledge.

And most places are too slow to keep my interest for long...and I mainly only rp on places.

It's sad to hear that so many avatar sites seem to be having as many problems as they are, and even worse to hear that a number of them have closed down.

I remember that before Crysandrea went offline (back then everyone believed that the admins would be true to their word and bring the site back... something which did not happen in the end, sadly), a lot of the members decided to move to Lunesaga so it's really sad to hear that they've lost their avatar home once more...

A friend of mine that use to be a co-worker needed money, so he said. So I gave it to him, come to find out he tried to use it to buy a failing avatar site that he was working for at the time.

I was fired for "Aiding the competition".

I gave it to him thinking he needed it for food, you know, to live and still be my friend. I had no way of knowing. more than dumb. : /

But I had done a doll on Chibini's (?) (The one that had a base like a Ball Joint Doll) for fun as I liked the base and was warned that it was "Aiding the competition" and that I wasn't allowed to pixel on anything but Solia's base. EVER. After that they started monitoring my posts on other avatar sites as I used the same name most places. They "Found out" when I asked my friend how he was trying to buy a site when he didn't have money for food, at that point he told me he was using the money I "Donated" to him. Wham bam, I'm fired within moments of reading that.

Solia stocks their staff, whether they know it or not.

That is creepy as all fucking hell.
