once they made it to the place where the berries were abundantly growing and had already started to ripen they stopped and the boy pulled out a blanket from the basket leaving it mostly empty but for a bit of meat. he watched while everything was laid out and the red hood the other wore always was folded up and put inside the basket. still silent he continued watching while the other got out the bow and offered to catch their lunch, laughingly he accepted and watched as the other failed to catch even the slowest of creatures until a young turkey came through. the arrow pierced it's neck and with a happy whoop the human went to fetch it while he started the obligatory fire. while the fire burned around the large center stone he took the bird and allowed the boy red to go do as he intended and collect berries for his granny
Many of the berries did not make it to his basket. When he returned to Mr Growl his belly was half full and his face was stained and sticky with purple. Happy he fell on the blanket and stared at the sky as the smell of smoked turkey consumed him. "Mr Growl do you like pie?"
the bird was half cooked when the boy returned with a heavier basked than before. he paid no mind as the other laid down though the question did catch him, "i have not had or have not met 'pie' i would not know if i like such a thing"
He drew in a sharp breath. "Mister Growl, my grandmother makes the best pies, she is the reason my family has been doing such good business. When I see her again I will besure to make sure you get one. Do you like apples, berries... or would you like a meat pie?" He said in jest. It did not matter the answer he would have all three by the time he returned to see Mister Growl again.
the first two held no interest but the third might be tolerable. flipping a chunk of the bird over he responded, "if it is not full of green things i would not mind to try meat-pie. the bird is almost cooked"
He said nothing more and managed to doze until Mister Growl pronounced the meal ready. As always Red was ready with the addition of bread. Carefully he let Mister growl peel off a chunk for him and setting it down on the blanket, Red layered it with the bread. "Do you like salt?"
taking a bite of his own bread-free piece he shook his head, "salt is natural and good but i do not like as much as you humans use for your meats. it makes them dry and hard to eat"
He stuck his tongue out at Mister Growl. He asked the man about many other spices and herbs and none of them seemd to his liking. Red contented himself with his salt-less meat. When he was full he lay back on the blanket. "Mister Growl I had intended to show you what fun was, so I brought a book. Would you like to hear some of it other wise there is a game we could play."
books, like salt were well and good but not something he particularly cared for and letting the other know as much he finished his eating and stretched out his greasy fingers to lick them clean
He shook his head and reached out taking one of the slick covered hands. "Mister Growl you are a spoil sport. If I am your fun, then lets have fun." He said swallowing. He had lost his words and letting go of Mister Growls hand he rolled over.
without managing to wash a single digit his hand was taken from him and the petulant-sounding words uttered before the other flipped over on the blanket. he was at a loss for the confusing action for several long moments until the realization hit him. there was a trap in this but not the one he expected. he grinned, "i have no balm and you do not either. i cannot smell it on you"
He gulped again remembering his first time. The differences were very noticable. "There wasn't any the first time" He was answered with "then this is a trap without my needing to make you want to rut? you humans are strange indeed." The answer failed in his mouth. He tried again. "Some times we just... Red turned a greater shade of crimson at the mans words. He tried to raise himself to his feet but stumbled backwards tangled feet in the cloth onto Mister Growl. "I am sorry Mister Growl" He said scurrying to move. "But..." He tried "You said I was fun... do you want to have fun?"
He laughed and didn't have the heart to correct the strange man. He could not have babies, let alone kits or cubs or any type of animal. Twisting slightly, Red tried to look at Mister Growl. He nodded in some what understanding. "I will try." He pushed himself up and close to Mister Growl and let his lips fall on to the mans. Breaking away he realized he was not in so much pain that he couldn't make the rest of the way to his Grannys house.
the blanket it seemed was something for him to keep for after the other washed in the water, his offer to clean him as well having been refused, and they had walked the several hours to granny's he was left with a kiss, a promise to see the other in a couple days, and the blanket to save for the boy red. he could not tell if the blanket was a way of marking him for having it in his home and would be a sign of ownership or if it was that the cloak and the berries were enough that there was no room and the boy did not with to carry a very large basket and a rather heavy blanket the last part of the way, either way he obediently took it home along with a small parcel of meats that would hold him even past the boy's return
(you can pick if he returns it when yours comes back though yours told mine to meet him at the place where they usually part) |
Each day it seemd his grandmother had a new chore for him. She wanted to get as much work out of him before he left as she could. Each day he worked he snuck to the edge of forest to leave behind something for Mister Growl. The second day he was left alone for the after noon to rest. For his labors he was paid heavily and things he thought Mister Growl would like smoked meats, sausage, dried meats and more. This time his grandmother even made him a new balm. It was made up mostly of body oil the women used to make themselves beautiful. Silently Red crept in the woods. By now his feet knew some what where to go and down the familiar path. Finding the place where they parted Red nervously recalled the last time he talked to Mister Growl. He plucked a piece of meat from his basket and started to suckingly bite into it. His dreams were plagued with the idea of rutting on his back, being a mate and strange little wolf pups, though it was mostly the rut and the frolick.
he was late he knew, he was supposed to be there before the sun reached the midway point, but a run-in with another wolf at the very edge of his territory had him busy. the other wolf was a young scrawny thing and did not dare fight him but it took a bit of threatening to convince the little interloper not to come back. hurrying to the place he was to meet with red he found the other freshly washed and eating with soap and spice lingering on him like a second scent. slowing down he surprised the other by wrapping his arms around the other and pinning him, "you look like you are having deep thoughts, do not get lost"
Since the other had not arrived yet Red had time to solidify his thoughts. Feeling the other grab him, his heart thudded against his chest and he nearly choked on the piece of meat he was eating. The lapse in time had given him moments to prepare and while the other hugged him he had yet to notice there was something missing. Red wiggled in the arms. "Hello Mister Growl..." He said breaking his silence and growing a little bold. He undid the string of his cloak revealing a bare shoulder. He offered another chunk of meat to the open mouth. "I am... not sure if I am doing this right... " He said sliding from being the grasp. He slid out of his cloak and laid it on the ground along with his body. Taking a sausage he rubbed it along his stomach, showing off his deep crimson flabby stomach before offering it to the other. "Mister Growl... " He said with a bit of a sqeak. "I want to feed and rut you... rut with you... please...?"
it was only self-preservation that kept him from taking the unexpected offer then and there and though the idea of both made him salivate he knew better than risk it. letting his eyes lift up from where they had focused on the molted pinking flesh he looked around for any other humans before reaching out to help his up, "your offer pleases me more than you realize but this is not the place for that. come, let's be deeper in the woods where no hunters can find us, i will be more than happy to ravage you then"
He found a ragged cloth, and though the water felt like Mister Growls tongue, it was not the same having his own fingers roam over his skin as it was having the man lick him in the claims of a bath. When he was cleaned and properly clothed he returned to the small shack wondering what food was left in his basket.
the boy took long enough to make him worry though less for his own skin and more for red's though his face and limbs would not give him away. still under the blanket he peered out over the edge of the bed when the door opened, "welcome back boy-red, you look quite upset, did you find the water-bath too cold?"
(so this is absured XD they are naked and neither are really taking note though the basket is still quite full barring the sausage and red's clothes) |
He shook his head. "No I am starving." He walked over to where Mister Growl was and took a seat beside the blanket and the basket. He eagerly looked through the basket and found one of the pies his grandmother gave him. He poked a hole inside to make sure it was the one he wanted and then offered a different one to Mister Growl. "I am not sure if you liked them but they dissappeared from where I put them. Here is another meat pie though."
he did not understand the comment but did not argue as food was handed to him. opening the breadcrust he found gravy'd meat chunks and tasting one found it to be good. giving an appreciative smile and an offer of thanks he dug in
He loved his granny, and he was starting to feel like Mister Growl was a good friend. He enjoyed eating and rutting, and the summer weather. Once he was done with his pie he gathered his clothing. Red told Mister Growl he could keep the meat along with the basket and he would make another one. So the man would not be anxious he promised to return with in a week and this time he would not have his bow if he could help it other wise it would be another feast of wild turkey.
as soon as they finished eating the boy spoke to him like a grown human in responsible tones though it was less authoritative than charming in the soft face. nodding he fished the other basket from under the bed though it was refused. shrugging off the oddness of it he fetched his things and dressing back properly he helped red out the door and through the woods, carrying him when he could manage and walking along side him when he couldn't until they grew close to the edge. bidding the boy red farewell he slipped back into the deep of it
His family was disappointed he managed to hurt himself, loose his basket and not come home with any meat, after his brother in law spent so much time teaching him. Convinced he was hopeless his brother tried to teach him another method of hunting and fighting to save himself when wild animals came. Red painstakingly limped after the man, and after the first day he noticed his basket at the edge of the forest with all the berries he loved, the second day one with mushrooms and last one with many vegetables. He grinned knowingly. This time as he piled things into his basket he told his family not to expect him back for weeks since he wanted to learn how to cook a few things from his grandmother. The family seemed suspicious but the gifts and the hear say of possible courting, loosened their reign on Red. He happily bounced back into the woods with a heavy basket of goods.
the meat left him with plenty of time to get food that humans ate and leaving treats for red at the forest's edge helped pass the week through though he was somewhat itchy over the idea of the boy passing back though. it was a wierd feeling and grew no less strange when he realized he missed the boy red's strange company, getting up early he spent the wee hours making a nest for the boy in the place by the creek the other was so terribly fond of and when he was done he set a small fire for cooking. having done what he could for the boy he waited
It was about midway through his journey when he detoured off the beaten path and down towards one of the berry patches. He could see it had already been nearly plucked cleaned. It made him giggle to think of the basket that arrived at the edge of the forest. He heard a small rustling and with a wide grin, he went to explore and see if it was Mister Growl. "oh Mister Growlll!!!!." He called with a grin. "I have a ham and bacon meat pie for you!"
within an hour the boy was there as he had expected and getting up from his crouch he came over. nuzzling the soft hair he greeted him, "boy-red, i am pleased"
His own mouth was in a wide grin. In the fashion he had come to know Mister Growl he returned the greeting with a bow and a flushed face. "Mister Growl! I have never been given so much food before." He made his way close to the man and scratched his ears.
there was no lick of ust this time just joy and figuring food would come first he kept the grin and took a chance at pulling the basket from red's hand. it was heavy but he had heavier from the other. saying nothing to that he took it and pulled out a large ham, it was pink and black and looked delicious even under the crust of salt. putting it down on the stones he sliced off a large piece with his knife before shaking the crusted salt onto the new open part and washing the slice in the creek. once the majority of the salt was off it went to the fire to cook
Mister Growl was strange and mysterious. Shaking his head he watched, and pulled out a pie made by his own hands along with the dried turkey he knew Mister Growl to like. Red especially designed a strange crust on Mister Growls so it would not get confused. Unsure of how to heat it with out burning hinself, he merely set it on the edge of the stones and plopped down on the blanket. "Mister Growl, I am sorry I didn't bring my arrow this time but I made you a special pie."
it was better without the hunters' tools and letting the ham-meat cook on it's own he shifted over to where the boy sat and breaking the crust fished out a piece of meat. he offered it to the boy to share, "thankyou boy red"
He laughed shaking his head. "Its all for you. I have my own, full of things I... haven't seen you eat." He was not sure what Mister Growl was fond of and to be certain he started to ask. "Do you like cheese? and have you tried corn?"
he had never had either and shrugging he said as much before eating the slice and fishing out another. the ham, while he was eating, was starting to get noisy so setting the pie down after another piece he moved back over to his spot from before to flip it
Grinning he tried to follow in Mister Growls example, though he could not eat his ham as noisly and yelped when he attempted to turn his pie over. Using a stick he poked it until it flopped over and then picked it up and put it back on the stone. "I can bring you some to try, what about duck?"
he liked duck. it was fatty and rarely accessible to him since they did not live in forests and rarely ventured far enough to catch, "fatty, i like duck and if you want i will try whatever you bring me"
While Mister Growl spoke he moved closer, close enough to gather one of the free hands in his hands. He flipped the fingers over and noticed the dirt. Idly he started to groom Mister Growl with his cloak tails. There was a little bubble in his stomach and a flush on his cheeks as he touched Mister Growl. "I have another question. ... I am your mate? What should I do?... besides rutting... which I don't mind I like rutting, it is fun, I mean should I bring you clothes, clean your house? Plant food?"
that he did not understand. letting red groom him in his strange human ways he pondered the best way to express his confusion, "you already do what a mate should do, why should you want to do more? i am fed, i am not lonely, i am happy and soon enough you will have my kits." he shrugged, "what else is there for a mate to do?"
Blinking he looked at MisterGrowl. "You know boys can't have babies right?" He was looked at by the gold eyes and was told the same thing he told Mister Growl once about partners and happiness, Just as he was about to explain he felt the man nuzzle close to his face and his skin heated up. Affectionately he licked Mister Growl on the face before borrowing into the warm summer fur.
it was pleasing to have the other stop talking and burrow into the lapels of his coat. not caring about the smell of burn that was coming from the ham he wrapped his arms around the soft plump body and pulled boy-red close, the other was fond of the closeness and his remembering served him well as the other nuzzled and moved closer in between the open space of his coat
