James rolled his eyes, "You still don't know me very well..." he sighed. Suddenly there was a tug on Yue's line, "Oh! Fish!" James quickly instructed her how to hook it and reel it in.
"Huh?" Yue said, not too excited about the catch as she tried to do what James instructed.
Yue pulled out a small but colorful fish from the water. James grinned, "Your first fish!" he praised her.
Yue wasn't too excited, but she raised an eyebrow at James' excitement before looking back at the little fish.
"Go ahead and let it go, but don't touch the fins... they're poisonous," he explained.
"You do it," Yue told him as she moved the pole around so he could grab the fish.
James put his hands up and backed away, "You caught it!" he replied with a smirk.
"How am I supposed to take it off without touching the fins?" she demanded, waving the poor fish around a little.
James chuckled, "You're Ming Yue. You can figure it out."
Yue stared at the fish again for a split second before lowering the fish back into the water so it could try to free itself.
The poor fish was hooked good. It floundered around for a bit before giving up and floating pathetically.
"It'll die you know," James commented. |
"Then take it off," Yue told him. "I'm not touching it."
"It's death will be on your hands," James said with almost convincing seriousness.
Yue didn't seem to concerned about being overwhelmed by guilt. "Yours as well," she noted, since he was refusing to help.
James rolled his eyes as he walked over, grabbed the line with one hand and used his other hand to stick his pointer finger down the fish's throat. Grasping the first firmly by the mouth between his pointer finger and thumb, he unhooked the poor thing and set it back into the water. Then he looked at Yue with a raised eyebrow as if questioning her so-called abilities.
Yue didn't look like she felt any kind of guilt as she watched the fish swim away.
