"It is more likly to target happy memories." Canada said seriously, "And not all people get heart attacks in old age." He gave a grin, "I'm sure that if I get diabetes I find some way to stop it, because I can't live without syrup."
"Mmm...well that's not too much of a problem either. I don't have many of those yet." He shakes his head a bit. "You can't stop diabetes unless you stop taking in sugar or much of it."
Canada gave the Confederacy a hard look, "Well we'll just have to fix that." It would not do for a nation not to have many happy memories. Canada knew wars and strife were nessiary but he also knew that peace and happiness were important also. "Fine you win." Canada said conceeding defeat, "I have nothing against that, so let us just hope neither or us gets either."
William just lifts an eyebrow at the look. He hasn't been alive long and the short time he has been alive was war time and that only. And he still hasn't fully recovered from the war. "Yep, hoping for that too since I won't be able to just quit bacon or anything."
"And I'm not quiting my syrup." Canada said decisivly and took a swig of coffee. "Bacon and syrup is good you should try it some time." Canada said looking at the Confederacy's bacon.
"Never said you had to. Most people don't listen to doctors anyway." He shrugs. "And I only like that with eggs too." He puts syrup on bacon AND eggs, but both are required. "But it is good."
"Your loss," Canada says. "and what type of desert do you want?" He asked the Confederacy. "They live up to their name in that area too."
He blinks and shrugs a bit. He likes desserts in general, but rarely actually gets and eats them. "What kind of desserts do they have?" He tilts his head a bit. Ones that won't make him regret the bacon hopefully. Cake and bacon suddenly pops in his head and he stars giggling.
"Anything you can imagine, except tofu." Canada said, "They even have fried ice cream." Canada pulled a menu from the condement holder and handed it to the COnfederacy. "Pages 2 and 3 have some of the deeserts."
"Who wants tofu for dessert? It's food, but nowhere near dessert." He props open the menu before disappearing behind it for a bit. "How do you even fry ice cream? Shouldn't it melt in the process or something?" Not that it doesn't sound delicious. It just sounds improbable.
"It has a shell around it, I think cornflakes or something like that." Canada says trying to remember the one time he had it. "They deep fry it quicly enough that it won't melt, I think. One of the cooks would actually be able to tell you."
As though knowing where the conversation was going the waitress reappeared, "Do you need some deserts or should I go get the bill?" "We are having deserts," Canada said quickly, "I'll have you Lady Fingers." |
"Still doesn't make sense to me, but it has deep fried goodness and ice cream. So it can't be bad." He says simply. "Can I get some fried ice cream?" He's halfway doing chibi eyes without realizing it. Fattening and frozen sweet at the same time? It is awesome.
"Sure, William, and would you like me to remove your plates while I give the kitchen you order?" The waitress asked.
"You can remove mine." Canada said distracted by his phone ringing. "Sorry," he said opolgizing to both the waitress and the Confederacy. |
William just hands his plate over to the waitress. "Thank you." He just tilts his head as the phone starts ring and he mouths 'who is it?' He's curious.
"My secretary," Canada sighs. "He is having problems with a couple of things." The message is in text form and urges Canada to return as soon as possible to fix the problems. He texted them the reply of , 'Soon as I finish lunch w the Conf I'll return.' "We can fish lunch but they will need me to be at the house. You can stay and build or can come to my house."
He just nods a bit, understanding this problem. "Kay then." His leader knows what to do in case. "Mmmm..." He looks around a bit. "I think....I'll go with you." He doesn't know this place well and so does not want to be alone with it no matter if Canada can find him or not. He doesn't like the idea of being alone or the possibility of getting lost.
"Okay, but I'll warn you it will be incredibly boring." And most likely unneeded, his secretary had probably just gotten lost in paperwork mountain.
The waitress returned them with their orders and no bill, "I heard you had work so I just had it placed on you bill, Matthew." She explained as she placed the deserts in front of them, "You can just leave as soon as you finish." |
"Boring is better than getting lost." That's all he says before the desserts arrive. He just tilts his head a bit as he listens to the waitress. "How often do you come here?" Random question time is a go!
(bad post is also a go >_<) |
"A lot." Canada confesses sheepishly. "I usually come twice a week sometime more often." Canada then takes a lady finger, "Enough that I can tell which cook is on duty by the food alone, today you had Miss Rosenburgh."
William/the Confederacy chuckles a bit. "Hey, once you find a good place to eat...go to it often. I hate when I find a good place to eat and they close down." He kind of pouts a bit. "A lot of bbq places have done that." And some of them had awesome food. "Long as it tastes good..." He starts to work on the fried ice cream.
"Your barbeque places are going out of business?" Canada asked after finishing another one of his lady fingers. "Is this a recent occurence?" Last time he had talked to America, before the split, his economy had been booming.
"Not all of them....just happens to be EVERY SINGLE ONE I LOVE!" He kind of flails a bit. "I think it's mainly bad location for them though...and small businesses always have problem. With funding or people bickering and the like." He just shrugs a bit. "The ones that are bigger....aren't always as good." He shrugs. And don't forget, America likes to exaggerate. Alot. He must be the hero!
"Size does not promise quality." Canada agreed, "In fact to my knowledge size usually comprimises quality."
"Yep. That's true. Look at Wal-Mart. It's a necessary evil. In some places it's one of the biggest employeers. That's what makes me sad....or when it's the only grocery store. There needs to be competition." It bothers him when corporations like that make it impossible for the little guy to survive. "Though I think Johnson and Johnson still makes good quality things..."
"I don't really have an opinion on which large outlet is better, I normally support the smaller companies." Canada interjected. "And so far it appears to mostly work."
"Well...it's not like I can abandon the big corporations. If they went down...some towns would be left with nothing and would just dry up, you know? I can't let that happen, but I don't like that things have become so towns are dependent on just one store." He stretches a bit. "But that'll take a long time to change if it can be."
"But what if they don't have that time?" Canada asked. "Maybe Wal-Mart goes bankrupt and has to close suddenly, what will those small towns do?"
"That would be scary. The idea of Wal-Mart going bankrupt. My people wouldn't be the only people hurting. Wal-Mart owns other stores and is a major thing in some areas." His face shows that he does not like the idea of a bankrupt Wal-Mart.
Canada nodded, "It would be similar to Tim Hortons going bankrupt over here. That shop is part of the lifeblood of Canadians."
"It wouldn't be so bad if Wal-Mart didn't destroy any competition they had. Is Tim Horton's like that?" He tilts his head a bit. He doesn't really know anything about the store....other than an exists. He doesn't know if it's a super center like thing or not.
"It does put a lot of smaller coffe shops out of business. It is not a large super center like Wal-Mart more like a larger version of Dunkin Doughnuts.' Canada says trying to find the right way to explain Tim Hortons.
"Well....so if it did go out of business...there would be a lot of Canadians without caffeine that would be very unhappy?" That's the way William is seeing it. "It wouldn't be like, where can I get groceries now?" Since many people don't have cars and the like...it's whatever is closest.
"75% of Canadians whould stop having breakfast." Canada corrects. "And then our econmy would plunge because no one had any energy until they have lunch."
"That should not stop people from having breakfast. Bagels can be found at other places. And other foods." Americans do love their fast food, but there can be breakfast at home. "I rarely eat breakfast anymore." He does fine, even if Canadians don't...but it is colder up there than where he lives.
"Canadians are very peticular about things like that, everyone gets their breakfast at Tims then goes to work. And most people don't even bother with having breakfast htings available at home and just take the hwole family." Canada personally does not get it preferring to eat at any place even his home.
He shrugs a bit. "Well....they'd probably adapt since it wouldn't be like breakfast in unavailable. It would just involve cooking then. But I do see the point. But if Wal-Mart went down....some places wouldn't be able to get the raw stuff to cook breakfast or any food. Though neither will probably ever go out of business."
"Lets us hope so." Canada conceded as he ate the last lady finger. "Otherwise we would have to find out. Though I'm sure our people would grow and adapt of either were to happen."
"Well for some towns...that's all they got, you know? So they don't really have choice....especially if they don't have a car or anything. Then they might not be able to go to another city to get food. But that's neither here nor now. So no worries.
"Nowadays you could probably just order online or something like that." Canada remarked thoughtfully. "Sure, it would be harder and more expensive, but possible."
"Problem with that. Not everyone has internet. I know some people personally, but they do have people who will give them rides. Neither has a liscense either though they're working on that one...though that isn't a majority or anything at this point. But I think of them a lot....there's more people like them spread out and the like. But I'll worry once that happens."
