mdom 09-17-2019 04:54 PM

we have mom's in december which means - no christmas gift, only birthday

Death by Mirrors 09-17-2019 05:03 PM

My grandfather's birthday also was in December. We always had like one big family gathering for both occasions.

trystan830 09-17-2019 05:40 PM

my mom's birthday is December 30th, no xmas there either - just chanukah! XD

DreadedMartian 09-17-2019 11:11 PM

My godsons birthday is in December.
I definitely group up the gifts. Sorry kid.

MonBon 09-17-2019 11:16 PM

I call my cat monster. I don't think it's super common but I wouldn't say it's a weird name for a cat around here (US)

DreadedMartian 09-17-2019 11:17 PM

I actually think monster is a cute name lol

trystan830 09-17-2019 11:24 PM

my black cat is named Blackie....

mdom 09-17-2019 11:37 PM

hehe it is xD especially for a kitten

DreadedMartian 09-18-2019 03:46 AM

I had a pet ball python and I named him Jafar. He was the sweetest damn thing.

Den 09-18-2019 04:10 AM

Mom and I joke that "Lucy" is short for "Lucifer". She's Dad's cat, and she will hiss at mom and me.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 11:57 AM

we have three cats over here.

whisky, smokey and semilina.

no idea how to spell any of their fucking names because i'm not exactly told much.

trystan830 09-18-2019 12:14 PM

i have two - Blackie and Max =^..^=

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 12:14 PM

beeps softly.

they're all tabby cats.

trystan830 09-18-2019 12:27 PM

i know i've posted these guys here before, but..

Blackie

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 12:28 PM

glorious little fellows!

trystan830 09-18-2019 12:30 PM

thank you, Void!

Max is a 17-year-old ancient dude who likes my husband's lap all the time, and Blackie is my 14-year-old kitten =^..^=

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 12:35 PM

whisky is about... eight, i think. semilina is older than whisky, and smokey is youngest. this is by how they act.

trystan830 09-18-2019 12:44 PM

you can't always go by how they act. blackie is 14 and still acts like he's 4. months. XD

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 12:45 PM

i'm aware, but we have no clear indication of how old they are.

trystan830 09-18-2019 12:52 PM

fair enough

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 01:09 PM

semi tends to be sort of cantankerous with smokey when she's cleaning him, so it appears as though she's older than him by a few years, at the very least, and she's lost a few of her teeth, i think? or so i was told. whisky still has his.

trystan830 09-18-2019 01:25 PM

yeah that makes sense.

Max has had a lot of his teeth removed, due to gum disease :(

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 01:26 PM

we've had whisky since he was a kitten. he's outlived his littermate and the family dog.

trystan830 09-18-2019 01:27 PM

aww....

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 01:29 PM

i kinda wonder what happened to his other littermates, considering a couple were given to the RSPCA + given to various other people.

trystan830 09-18-2019 01:45 PM

at one time, we had two cats who were brothers/littermates - Tiger (grey&black striped) and Jody (all grey). my mom had the third brother - Gabby, who looked like Tiger. all three have since passed away. there was a sister who was grey&white striped, and i have no idea what happened to her.

Biomecha 09-18-2019 03:57 PM

The photo of Blackie looks like he got caught right before getting into some mischief.

Death by Mirrors 09-18-2019 06:53 PM

I read it as mischief has already been done so "It wasn't me - it was the dog!"

Den 09-18-2019 06:56 PM

Lucy tends to be the one to puke up hairballs all over the house. Cisco only really pukes if he eats his food too fast.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 07:14 PM

gets two posting rewards in a row

also, whisky has the problem of eating his food too fucking fast.

Death by Mirrors 09-18-2019 07:43 PM

I'd suggest spreading it out on a bigger tray instead of a bowl, so he has to lick more than gobble. But then again it also means the food will dry out and get yucky much sooner, which is a fate I do not wish upon any cat.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 07:44 PM

shrugs.

we don't have that sort of stuff, just cat bowls.

whisky is also a very chatty little lad. a fluffball, too.

Mekatra 09-18-2019 08:07 PM

We just feed our cat on a plate because if she brushes her whiskers along the side of the bowl she won't eat. I'm not sure if it hurts or is just irritating to her, but she won't eat unless it is on a flat surface.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 08:09 PM

something something whisker fatigue. basically the cat gets overloaded bc of the whiskers brushing against the side of the bowl.

Mekatra 09-18-2019 08:19 PM

I figured it was something like that since they use their whiskers as a sensory organ.

Stabbsworth 09-18-2019 08:20 PM

yeah, that's probably it.

mdom 09-18-2019 08:36 PM

poor kitties, always gotta eat in shallow bowls
